Live or die? The moment they touched her, they made their choice.
Noah Lane was mine once. We had the kind of love that crawls beneath your skin and stays there. She was the girl I was ready to marry—before the stage, before the lights … before she left me with nothing but a broken promise.
The hold she had on me never faltered, not even when I saw his ring on her hand.
When I learned the truth behind the scars she hid, I became savage, unhinged, and obsessive.
What they did to her should have killed her.
They stole her voice, her fire, her body.
But she’s not their possession, not a victim. She belongs to me.
This isn’t anger, it’s madness. I’ll make every one of them pay for her tears, even if I have to tear down Heaven and piss on Hell to do it.
Wealth won’t save them from her cowboy—watch me carve their sin into his skin.
Hell of a Show is a dark romance intended for an adult audience—please see either Leila's or Shauna's websites for a comprehensive list of content warnings. This will be just as unhinged as Book One, so if you can't handle that, back away now and wait in your truck because this is gonna be a hell of a show.
There’s something about a cowboy with a broken heart that just hits differently — and this story delivers that ache in the best possible way.
This is a powerful second-chance romance about a rugged, emotionally guarded cowboy and the woman who once held his heart… and shattered it. When she comes back to town, neither of them is prepared for the storm of unresolved feelings, lingering resentment, and undeniable chemistry that still burns between them.
The passion in this book is intense — not just physically, but emotionally. Every glance feels loaded. Every argument feels like foreplay. The tension is thick with years of hurt, misunderstandings, and words left unsaid. You can practically feel the dust and heat rising off the pages.
What makes this story shine is the angst. It’s not shallow drama — it’s layered. Their pain feels real. The betrayal (or perceived betrayal) isn’t easily brushed aside, and forgiveness doesn’t come without vulnerability. Watching these two characters confront their past, unpack their mistakes, and decide whether love is worth the risk again is both heartbreaking and beautiful.
The cowboy hero is exactly what you want — stoic on the outside, deeply emotional underneath. And the heroine isn’t weak; she’s grown, wiser, and fighting for her own redemption. Together, they are explosive.
If you love: • Small-town tension • Broody cowboys • Second-chance romance • Emotional gut-punch moments • Passion that feels earned
This one will absolutely wreck you — in the best way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A dusty, angsty, heart-squeezing love story that proves sometimes the right love just needs the right timing.

Hell Of A Show is book two in the Black River Ranch series. The books should be read in order for maximum enjoyment.
Noah is back in her small town to plan for and celebrate her seemingly storybook life and upcoming marriage. All that glitters isn’t gold though. Noah is hiding a painful secret that’s consequences will affect everyone.
Rhett, the oldest Kade brother, is stoic and delightfully volatile for those that he loves. He’s the responsible father figure for his family and caretaker of his family’s ranch. When Noah, the only girl he’s ever or will ever love, rolls back into town, his foundations crack. He survived her leaving once but doesn’t think he can do it again.
When tragedy befalls Noah, Rhett steps up. He’ll burn the world, and everyone in it, who hurt his woman. The Kade brothers protect what’s their’s, morals and laws be damned.
This is a book heavy on trigger warnings - but with purpose. Noah goes through a great deal and we’re not spared her journey. While a sometimes raw read, every element has purpose and deep meaning. You will love and root for these characters to find their HEA. A truly dark and compelling read.
A huge shoutout to Grandma Jo, a character that will live in infamy and pure delight.
Second-chance romance usually isn’t my favorite trope. I spend half the time thinking “just communicate already.” But this one pulled me in.
This story leans into the angst. Years of hurt, misunderstandings, and feelings that never fully went away make every interaction between these two feel heavy with history. The tension is constant and even the quiet moments feel charged.
Rhett is the kind of cowboy hero that works for me. Quiet, guarded, and carrying more emotion under the surface than he shows. Noah isn’t naive or weak. She has grown, owned her mistakes, and has to face the past she left behind. Their history is messy in a way that feels real. Forgiveness is not instant and healing takes time. Watching them slowly unpack everything that broke them apart is where the story shines.
The small town setting and family dynamics made this hard to put down. Yes, the angst runs a little heavy at times. Did I still eat it up? Absolutely.
If you like broody cowboys, messy history, and second-chance romance that actually earns the reunion, this will work for you.
Hell of a Show couldn’t be a more accurate title. Hell of a Show by Leila James and Shauna Mairead took me on an emotional ride I definitely wasn’t prepared for. I expected some angst, but this book really put me through it. I’ve read a lot of Leila James’ books and had only read Wait in the Truck by both authors before this, but this story surprised me in the best way. Rhett—and honestly the entire Rivers family—will do whatever needs to be done, and they don’t really care what it takes. Definitely check the trigger warnings because this one won’t be for everyone. But if you treat triggers like a shopping list, this book delivers: dark ✔️ cowboy ✔️ second chance ✔️ lots of tension ✔️ and some very unhinged, questionable revenge ✔️. Such a wild ride. I loved it. 🔥📚
The deranged things these women come up with should really concern me and others. Instead, I took the 3 page TW list with laughter and a challenge.
I absolutely devoured this book. It was interesting to get Rhett’s story and the twists and turns that explained his broody nature from Wait in the Truck.
Starlet, Noah Lane is the woman he would burn the world down for and she did not deserve the life she received because of one corrupt music producer.
Grandma Jo still coming in hot with my fave line from the book - “who invited Garth Brooks because Thunders rolling over your faces!” 🤣
The good spice was good, the bad spice was bad but written with care and attention. (you’ll find out, just read it!) Top tier ladies, thank you.
Hell of a Show is not for the faint of heart. It’s dark, raw, obsessive, and completely unhinged in the best way possible for dark romance lovers. From the very first page, the story pulls you into a world of pain, vengeance, and a love so intense it borders on madness.
Noah Lane and her cowboy share the kind of love that never truly fades. Even after heartbreak, broken promises, and years apart, their connection is still there—deep, consuming, and impossible to ignore. When the truth about what Noah has endured finally comes to light, everything changes. The man who once loved her becomes something far more dangerous… ruthless, savage, and willing to destroy anyone who ever laid a hand on her.
This story is heavy and emotional, but it’s also incredibly gripping. The author does an amazing job showing Noah’s strength through everything she’s been through, while her cowboy’s protective and obsessive nature adds an intense edge to the story. His devotion is fierce and sometimes terrifying, but it also shows just how far he’s willing to go for the woman he loves.
The chemistry between these two is explosive, and the tension throughout the story keeps you completely hooked. There are moments that will break your heart, moments that will make you angry, and moments that will leave you cheering for their revenge.
If you love dark romance with obsessive heroes, emotional depth, and intense revenge, this book will absolutely deliver. Just be sure to check the content warnings beforehand because this story goes to some very dark places.
Overall, Hell of a Show is a powerful and unforgettable continuation that proves love can survive even the darkest of circumstances—and sometimes vengeance is the only way to heal. 🖤🔥
✨ Rating: 5/5 If you enjoy dark, unhinged romances with protective, morally gray heroes, this one is definitely worth the read.
Not gonna lie, I am normally not a fan of Second Chance romances because it irritates the ever loving shiz out of me… But I should know better…Leila and Shauna have never steered me wrong yet… I don’t know how these to do it… But every book that I’ve read by either one or both of them has immediately sucked me into the world and I can’t do a dang thing until I finished the book. No adulting whatsoever. My entire focus is on their writing and everyone around me better shush so I can read my book in peace. I love a good psycho, which is why I loved Kade, but there’s a certain kind of strength and stillness that I absolutely adored in Rhett… he was giving such kicked puppy vibes in the first book and my heart just broke for him when I found out his backstory. So thank you for giving me his story finally (I haven’t actually been waiting that long, but when a series grabs your attention, it’s hard to comprehend the amount of time. You have to wait for the next installment of your newest addiction)
Poor Noah… That poor girl went through so much… I was concerned when I saw the trigger warnings, but these authors gave me the info I needed about the story without completely wrecking my soul, which I greatly appreciate… dark romances are my absolute favorite… But tie in a morally gray MMC that just happens to be a cowboy, and is the embodiment of the “that’s my wife” trope- ***swoon***
The book was absolutely phenomenal and I’m really hoping that we get to see more of these characters in the future. I’m really hoping that we get a book for the twins. Also, grandma Jo is amazing. She’s who I want to be when I grow up.
The Queens are back !!! And oh what a ride it was and is!! Hell Of A Show is book 2 in Leila James’s and Shauna Mairéads River Ranch Book Series and all I can say is that I’m so freaking obsessed !! I mean Dark Unhinged and morally gray cowboys who will do anything and I mean anything for the woman they love , moments that are so steamy you can literally feel the sparks coming right off the pages ( and you can bet you will need a fan to cool you off . A second chance journey that will have you feeling so many different emotions and is filled with tension , love , angst , drama , obstacles, humor , banter , revenge , secrets , complexities, family , friendships and so much more . Rhett and Noah - I have to say I was not prepared for these two not at all . The way these two just captivated me , the way everything they went through resonated with me on so many levels. The things that tore them apart , the darkness , the intensity, the sacrifices , how hard they had to fight to find their way back to each other . Well I genuinely do not think any words at all could possibly start to describe how this story truly affected me emotionally, how it left me in awe and how I really had to take a step back throughout , because yes it really does get that dark . Both had their flaws , both had their demons - and I think that’s something I loved so much , something that made them that much more relatable. Wrecked me just wrecked me , that’s exactly what Shauna and Leila just did - in all the best ways of course .
We love a slightly unhinged but also sweet MMC! When Noah left Rhett Rivers to chase her dreams in LA she thought she was doing him & herself a favor. She’d go, make it big & possibly return someday. But that’s not what happened…not by a long shot. She did make it big but the sacrifices she’s been forced to make for it to happen are slowly stripping her of every ounce of joy she’s ever had in life. Rhett, for all his attempts, has never gotten over her.. So when he runs into her at Boozin Boots he tried one final time to get the goodbye he’s always needed. It didn’t work. I’m trying to avoid spoilers but needless to say things really start to go downhill once the truth of Noah’s real life starts to come to light. The connection she & Rhett have with each other is cosmic, they know what the other is thinking & feeling better than they know themselves & when things go sideways it’s time for John effing Cena. (IYKYK) You don’t mess with the River’s Family unless you want to incur their wrath…and their wrath is epic. Also I want Grandma Jo to be my Grandmother & so will you! Definitely check trigger warnings because there are some seriously dark elements to this story but what I love about these books is Leila & Shauna throw in just the right amount of unexpected hilariousness. It helps to balance out the darkness a bit. Another incredible read by these two authors & hopefully more to come!
This book was SO much more than what I was expecting and I was already expecting it to be amazing. Leila and Shauna hit this one way out of the park!
This book had me laughing out loud, crying my ugly cry, cheering out loud, and falling in love with the main characters 100%.
There is just something about a super protective cowboy that gets me all warm and fuzzy, and this cowboy did not disappoint! Rhett is so damn dreamy and everything he does for Noah in this book made me want to eat him up. His love for her shone so bright off these pages, it was almost blinding. And can we take a moment to soak in their chemistry? Lord have mercy!
Noah is such a strong character even though she goes through something so horrific. Yes she has her moments of dealing with it, but hot dang, she holds her own! I loved this so much! I love when women characters are written to be so strong!! We are not damsels in distress, we are warriors, who like to be pampered once in a while lol.
Now, I loved seeing all the characters from the last book, but Grandma Jo has to be my favorite. Her character brings so much to these books.
I could go on and on about how amazing this book was, but then I would start giving away what happens so I better stop. This is a definite must read. 5 ⭐️ for sure. Get your tissues ready, but get ready to laugh and feel all the redemption in the world too. Leila and Shauna, you two did an amazing job again. Thank you for another fantastic read.
How do you deal with a vile, entitled, city boy who tries to break something that doesn’t belong to him? Cowboy justice.
Still reeling from everything that happened in this book but also every piece of the Rivers/Everett families’ puzzle that were revealed along the way.
I am in awe of this book, its dark, very, very dark, filled with trauma and emotional pain from various sources, with so much angst. There are some parts that were hard to read (content not because of the writing) but were incredibly necessary to the character development and story progression. This book is so good, I would have finished it in one day if sleep/adulting didn’t get in the way.
I’d consider this one a slow burn, but once you get to the flames you will get incinerated! There’s a reason for the wait and it’s so worth it.
Reading the trigger warnings for this book is a MUST!
This series also has one of my favourite side characters, Grandma Josephine, it’s unlikely to happen but I think she has a story worth its own book! She’s spunky, fully of pearls of wisdom that are usually framed in her social quirky way. She’d totally be invited to any girls’ night, or bachelorette party.
I thought I knew what I was getting into with this book. I was very, very wrong.
I’ve read and loved Leila James’ writing before. I loved Wait in the Truck. And now I’ve read Hell of a Show… and honestly? I think I need a minute before I can even fully explain what I just went through.
This book is the kind that leaves you sitting there afterward trying to process it all. The secrets. The twists. The moments where you think you know exactly what’s happening—only to realize you actually knew nothing.
And Rhett Jameson Rivers… what a man. In every sense of the word. I went into this thinking he was the level-headed brother, the steady one. But apparently when it comes to love? All bets are off.
If you’re looking for a sweet, fluffy cowboy romance, this one isn’t it.
But if you want dark, a little depraved, emotionally brutal in the best way—the kind of story that rips your heart out and makes you consider taking a break just to recover—then you’re going to want to pick this one up.
After Wait in the Truck and now Hell of a Show, I truly have no idea what Leila James and Shauna Mairead have planned for Cole and Jace.
What I do know is that I’ll be reading their stories. No question.
From the very beginning, you could instantly feel the yearning from both Rhett and Noah. The longing for each other really just carries through the story and you can feel it in your bones. You can’t help but root for their happy ending!
The first 50% of the book had me super emotional, uneasy, and on my toes (in a good way). I literally couldn’t put it down became I needed to know what happened. I finished the whole thing in less than a day. It was a great read!
These Rivers men are unhinged and do not play around when it comes to their woman. They will do what is necessary to protect them & make sure anyone who has wronged them pays for their mistakes.
I always enjoy the found family elements between the brothers & the dark humor written throughout. Grandma Jo is a fan favorite over here 🤣
This was not a super spicy read (between the main characters), but definitely has some DARK elements to it so check your triggers.
Thank you so much to Leila James & Shauna Mairead for the opportunity to receive and review an eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own! 🖤
Tropes: - dark, cowboy romance - Second chance - Touch her and die - One bed - Forced proximity - Found family - Cowboy x country music star
It’s been a while since my emotional guts have been ripped out by a story. Leila James and Shauna Mairéad bring us another winner with book 2 in the Black River Ranch series. This second chance childhood sweathearts revolves around Noah a famous singer and Rhett, the cowboy she left behind to follow her singing career. Now she’s engaged and planning her wedding, and Rhett not the groom. This book is fast paced and packed with surprises and reveals that will have you quickly turning pages.
James and Mairéad take a few big chances here that most other romance authors won’t do. Without giving things away they show you front and center what being in an abusive and manipulative relationship can be like. So please check your triggers. We experience Rhett’s deep gut-wrenching heartache as he watches the love of his life with another man. I shed a few tears experiencing Noah’s agonizing day to day life as she’s trying to hold it all together. And boy do these authors know how to rip your heart out. Rhett and Noah have that special kind of love that comes around on rare occasions and even though I knew there is an HEA at the end I still felt all the feels on this rollercoaster ride wondering if they could ever be together.
Kade, Rhett’s slightly unhinged younger brother, and Sage from book 1 are back along with the highly entertaining Grandma Jo. This duet series is a must read. You could read this book as a standalone but I highly suggest that you read book 1 to really get the full experience of the Rivers Ranch.
First of all if you’re reading or thinking about reading this book, then you’ve already read the first book and know this, but I’ll say it anyway: make sure to check the trigger warnings.
Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…whew, this book was a ride. I went through so many emotions reading this book. My heart was breaking through so much of this book with what Rhett and Noah have gone through over the years and what they’re still going through. Thankfully there were plenty of moments of levity thanks to Kade and Grandma Jo, those two never fail to crack me up.
I don’t want to say too much so I don’t spoil anything so I’m just going to say that I’ve been waiting to see an unhinged Rhett that will do anything for the woman that he loves and that’s exactly what I got in this book. It was an emotional roller coaster ride and I loved every second of it. The combination of Leila and Shauna writing together is pure gold and I’m really hoping that we get more from this duo in the future.
Hell of a Show is book two in the Black River Ranch series and it's one hell of a great read!!! I absolutely love these unhinged cowboys and what they will do for the women they love. Rhett and Noah's story is a second chance romance that will have you feeling all kinds of emotions as you follow these former high school sweethearts and their journey to find their way back to each other. The tension, chemistry, angst, drama, love and brotherly banter is amazing and I think every family needs a Grandma Jo. This is a dark romance and you must read the content warnings before you read this because the topics, scenes and cowboy justice that is served is definitely not for the faint of heart. I couldn't put this dark cowboy romance down and if you love reading about a tortured hero that would do anything for the women he loves, found family, second chance romance, forced proximity, an unhinged revenge plan with questionable use of farm equipment and characters that are larger than life than I highly recommend this book....Be brave and jump into the Black River Ranch series!!!
Holy, and here are the words I can't say because don't want my review to get banned 🙃. This book put it hooks in me and did not let go of me and still holding on. Please read the triggers before diving in. Take care of yourself first.
I am still reeling from this book. Noah and Rhett's story is full of anger, heartbreak, and longing. Noah took off and left Rhett to start her music career. This left Rhett broken and angry and years later still feeling the same way
When Noah comes back to Black River, she is there to see her friends and family to celebrate what is happening next in her life. But once she sees Rhett, they are drawn to each other even if in anger.
When Noah heads back to her other life, bad things happen and when bad things happen, the Rivers' men take care of things.
This book is going to live with me for a long time. I had chills in parts and swooned in others. Secrets are learned and just have to see how they are handled. Love the River boys and Sage and Grandma Jo is the absolute best and would love to have her in my life. Cannot recommend this book enough.
I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster this book put me through. There is just something about a second chance romance that has the ability to tear me apart. Rhett and Noah each ripped my heart out with their story. I felt Rhett’s heartbreak as though it was my own. When he was at his lowest amount of despair I felt like my heart was literally being wrenched out of my chest. Noah had me so scared for her through so much of the story. (Also, please please please read and pay attention to the content warnings. There are a few very rough, on page scenes. I found myself skimming over a certain portion to protect myself.) As tough as reading their heartbreak was, watching Rhett step up for Noah left my heart soaring. He is the over the top protective MMC we would all wish for. Noah leaning into the trust she has always had with Rhett was amazing. Their spice scenes were perfection for their story. I absolutely love these two and this world!
Oh my Lord what did I just read!!! It was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a second chance romance. This is it. You do not need to look for anything else. Noah is Country musics sweetheart. Rhett is the small town vet apprentice. Their high school romance long over after Noah left to chase her dream leaving Rhett heartbroken, Noah returned home engaged, and preparing to marry her biggest mistake. Rhett is ready to watch the love of his life marry someone else. He is ready to let her go, but in a dark twist of events he wins her back rekindling their love that never really died. I absolutely loved this book…ok I am obsessed. I couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t stop because I watched how Rhett and Noah healed each other again and Rhett get his ultimate vengeance on the man who broke Noah. I will read anything these lovely ladies write their story telling is absolutely fantastic.
If you thought the first book was intense…Rhett said “hold my whiskey.” A broody cowboy with a broken heart, a woman who left to chase her dreams, and a whole lot of unresolved feelings that definitely did not stay in the past. If you read the first book, you already know the Rivers men don’t exactly do anything halfway (especially when it comes to protecting the people they love).
Second-chance romance lovers, this one is for you. The tension between Rhett and Noah? Let’s just say the years apart didn’t exactly cool anything down. If anything, they just gave all that anger, hurt, and longing time to simmer.
Fair warning: there are definitely triggers in this one, so know your limits and take care of yourself first. But wow… these two authors together again? Absolute chaos in the best way possible. I mean, they’re incredible separately, so when they team up it’s basically guaranteed to be one hell of a show (see what I did there)
This isn't a book that's light and fluffy. Instead, it deals with some dark and real issues. So make sure you check your triggers!
Rhett and Noah were made for each other. It's just that they had to live their lives a little to come back to where they started. In the meantime, they each go through a lot of ups and downs. More so, Noah. She's trapped in ways that she never expected to be. So when all of it explodes, it's a good thing that Rhett shows up. He helps her through the worst moment of her life. She, in turn, helps to heal his heart.
My heart hurt for both of them throughout the book. The struggles they deal with are hard enough before she makes the dive into what she thought was her future. The aftermath is just as daunting and chaotic as can be.
I loved the way they came together. They're strong on their own, but together, they're unstoppable. This book has some dark moments that totally fit in with the story.
You really can judge this book by its cover—and it sets the tone perfectly. Featuring cover model @ericguilmette, the novel makes a striking first impression, but it doesn’t stop there. What follows is an intense, emotionally charged story packed with tension and filth from start to finish. The content warnings are extensive and thoughtfully handled, clearly preparing the reader for the depth and darkness woven throughout the narrative. This is a bold, immersive entry into a larger universe, and it left me wanting far more. These authors have clearly only scratched the surface, and I’m eager to see how much further they’re willing to push this world—and the reader. I’m anxiously awaiting a physical copy for my shelf and am desperately hoping this isn’t the end. A third book cannot come soon enough.
If you didn't already know that this author duo was going to make you alternate sobbing with dark, unhinged laughter, you're in for a wild ride. If you already knew, you're in for a treat.
Black River Ranch does not HAVE to be read in order, but I highly recommend it. Wait in the Truck is such a great introduction to the family, and if you skip over it you'll miss out on some truly hilarious times (and some great Grandma Jo moments).
Hell of a Show is...well, it's a hell of a show. There's angst, trauma, second chances, feral cowboys, a set of twins that have access to some things that I hope we'll get to explore in another book; pining, yearning, longing, and then retrieving what was always meant to be - through any means necessary. Rhett and Noah have been through a lot, and finding out why and how is heartbreaking, but it's worth it.
It is a true 2nd chances romance that sent me on a diabolical emotional roller coaster! 🥴🖤 my heart broke for Rhett! 🥹🖤
They are sole mates that were always meant to be together! And he is ferociously protective of her, even when they weren't officially together he would have burned the world down for her 🥹🖤
Grandma Jo and Kade were back!! 🥳🥳 iykyk! 😉😂
There is a fair bit of darkness and violence in this story, from corporate bullying, abusive relationships to creative retribution, so please read carefully and responsibly 🫶
It is a slow burn, but that is needed to build up the back story of our MC's, there r family secrets, revelations, found family and it has dual POV's.
If u like your cowboys on the darker side I thoroughly recommend picking up this series 🫶🖤🫶
This book wrecked me… and then handed me peace. This second-chance romance in Hell of a Show isn’t built on petty drama — it’s built on sacrifice. The heartbreak between these two felt so real I had to remind myself to breathe. When the story turns dark, it turns dark. I had to step away for a minute because it hit that hard. And then comes the reckoning. If you’ve read this series, you already know these authors do not believe in gentle justice. I went in expecting intensity. What I got was unhinged payback — the kind that makes you think, you may be a little unhinged too. I finished emotionally wrung out, but completely satisfied with this ending. Also — Grandma Jo is an icon. ⚠️ Please make sure you read the content warnings before starting this book.
First things first: Check the triggers. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart and gets pretty heavy. It’s raw, it’s intense, and it doesn't pull any punches. But even with the darker themes, the writing is so good that you’re hooked from page one.
The real stars here are Rhett and Noah. You fall in love with them so fast it’s actually dangerous. The author gives them so much depth that you feel every single high and every devastating low right along with them. You aren't just reading about them; you're basically in the trenches with them. Let's also not forget about the twist in the ending. Such poignancy.
If you can handle a story that’s a bit of a heavy hitter, pick this up. It’s well-written, edgy and suspenseful. Highly recommend!
If you've read the first book in the series, then you know these Black River Ranch men aren't afraid to protect their women. Also, if you read the first book, then you know to double check those trigger warnings. They are there for a reason.
Now, the tropes:
- Second Chance - Touch Her and Die (Literally!) - Small Town - Dark Cowboy - Revenge Plot (unhinged...just how we like it!) - Found Family - Cowboy and Country Music Star - Cowboy Justice
Noah and Rhett were high school sweethearts until Noah was "discovered" and set off to LA to begin her music career. Despite trying to sell the story to her friends and family, we quickly learn that things aren't what they seem when it comes to Noah and her new found fame...
It's hard to put into words how I felt about this book. For me it was emotional. I felt the sadness and the hurt. I felt the pain and the anger. I felt the love and the sense of belonging. I felt the hope and the healing. It was so well written.
The plot was dynamic and layered and kept me completely immersed in the book. Leila and Shauna did such a good phenomenal job with this one. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. And I love Grandma Jo!
Rhett, the fiercely devoted and just a little unhinged cowboy, might be exactly what you need. Add in the fact that his family will literally do anything for each other and the ones they love, you got yourself a really freaking wild good book.
Noah, the one that got away...but ended up back where she fell madly in love with the cowboy she had always dreamed of. She left to protect the ones she loved, never stopping to wonder what the price of that choice might be.
Watching these two characters confront their past and slowly find their way back to each other-even as they try to convince themselves they've moved on-makes this story an absolute must read.
As always-please check your trigger warnings. This is a dark romance where the characters are unhinged after all 😈
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Noah and Rhett’s story. Noah and Rhett were high school sweethearts, until she leaves their small town behind to make a name for herself, leaving Rhett and behind. Be aware of the trigger warning due to sensitive content! This is a well written, raw, gritty, emotional roller coaster, with found family, friendships, tension, angst, drama, heartbreak, obsession, secrets, forced proximity, sacrifices, revenge, witty banter, second chances, undeniable chemistry, and unconditional love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, dark romance, which is not for the faint-at-heart. I look forward to reading more from these talented authors’ whose work I highly recommend.
This book was a different vibe then Kade book but still at thr heart of it was s cowboy that would do anything for his girl!! Noah has been in LA living her best life or so we think. She is trapped by men that think they can hold her down but when she finally gets to see her true love Rhett her life turns around. Rhett has love Noah forever and is absolutely broken when he hears she is getting married but not all is well in Noah's world and Rhett is there ro pick the pieces up. There isnt a whole lot of spice but there is heart and and deep connections. Noah's husband and his friends get the same if not worse treatment for what horrible things they have put Noah through but also watch the triggers with this one farm equipment is not normally uses like that!!
