EMBER SPARKS

As Seryn pieces together long-lost memories, dreams twist into reality, revealing truths more perilous than the nightmares she once feared. FATE BURNS

Whispers of rebellion rise, and stunning prophecies take root. Seryn never asked to be a pawn in Fate’s cruel game—but if she refuses, the mortal realm will perish.

In a decaying world where lies masquerade as truth and power demands sacrifice, Seryn must reclaim the shattered pieces of herself before fate ravages their world. Because once you breathe life into ember, the inferno doesn’t just burn the wicked—it consumes everything.

Rowyn Adelaide is an insatiable romance reader, advanced practice MSW social worker, and the author of the Fate of the Embered series. Her debut novel, Of Withering Dreams, launched the dark fantasy romance series with a haunting blend of passion and peril. Her work fuses atmospheric world-building with emotionally driven romance, often exploring themes of transformation, angst, and resilience. When she’s not writing or devouring stacks of romance novels, she’s usually globe-trotting, rocking out at concerts, counting down to spooky season, or singing karaoke (very poorly). She lives in the Midwest with her favorite creatures: her husband, their dog Audrey Shepburn (aka the goodest girl that ever lived), and their chaotic cat Stormy, who is equal parts villain and sidekick. I was so relieved to return to the world to find out what was going on with Seryn and the rest of this found family crew. Memories being lost and restored, lore being revealed, new fun people to learn. This was everything you could want in a book two. I really enjoyed the new places we got to go to and the introduction of the new people to the story. The world building just keeps getting more complex and enthralling. Tortuous slow burn in the best possible way. Alll the yearning and longing, drama and that heat between Seryn and Gavrel was consuming. Just so just know the reveals will be amazing and will leave you with even more questions !!! I need more of this amazing story !!!

Favorite Quote: "Do you yield?" Would I really give in to the man who has shattered my heart? The one who lingered in my thoughts, refusing to fade away? Perhaps.

I loved the first book in this series and the second is even better. Rowyn Adelaide weaves secrets and mysteries into a beautiful story of growth and finding oneself that I did not want to put down. Getting to know some of my favorite characters from book one was fantastic and the adventures they share are so interesting and engaging. Don’t even get me started on Gavrel and Seryn. I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

This book burned—in the best way possible.

Seryn’s journey in Of Blooming Embers is raw, ruthless, and achingly powerful. Her memories may be fractured, but her fire? Unstoppable. The emotional whiplash of betrayal, buried truths, and forbidden love had me clutching my Kindle like a lifeline.

Enter Gavrel: the best friend’s brother with too many secrets and a stare that could ignite a forest. Their chemistry is scorching, their history is messy, and their path is soaked in tension. I lived for every tortured glance and reluctant touch.

The world is rotting, rebellions are stirring, and fate has its claws in everything. This book doesn’t just raise the stakes—it incinerates them. Add mythological beasts, high-stakes prophecy, and exclusive bonus scenes (hello Kindle users 👀), and you’ve got a sequel that outdoes the first.

If you love your fantasy with passion, peril, and just the right amount of pain, Of Blooming Embers is the firestorm you’ve been waiting for.

FIVE STARS IS NOT ENOUGH. I am unwell. I need therapy. I need to sit Rowyn Adelaide down and ask her WHY.

Of Blooming Embers absolutely shattered me in the best way possible. I went in thinking I was ready. I was NOT. The tension? The yearning? The EMOTIONAL CARNAGE? Exquisite. I gasped—literally out loud—at that twist. My jaw hit the floor. I yelled. I screamed. I may have sent Rowyn a telepathic hate letter full of love and betrayal.

Also…the spice!! I had to shield my poor, innocent Kindle like it was smuggling contraband. I was sitting in the plane blushing like I’d committed a crime. If someone had looked over my shoulder, I would’ve had to legally change my name. It was that hot.

The prose is beautiful, the characters are a mess (which I love), and the way everything builds into this slow, devastating crescendo of FEELINGS?? I'm sweating. I'm crying. I'm spiraling. And I loved every unhinged second of it.

I don’t know who I am anymore, but I know I need the next book like air. Rowyn, you have my heart and also my wrath. Book 3 better come with a warning label and emotional support hotline.

Thank you so much for the ARC and allowing me to be one of your wenches.

✨Of Blooming Embers✨

Author: Rowyn Adelaide
Release: July 17, 2025

OBE is book 2 in Rowyn’s Fate of the Embered Series where dreams and reality are fine lined. Dormancies are mandatory and memories are often wiped. Magic is highly regulated and used for the Elders whose intentions are slowly being revealed.

We find ourselves right where we left off at the end of book one. We get a dual POV from our FMC, Seryn, and a new one from our broody MMC, Gavrel, which is delightful to finally get to see inside his head. Memories are returning; feelings are reigniting; prophecies are being fulfilled. The stakes are getting higher and the gods are waking. The tension, yearning, and spice is soooo good. I loved getting to see the challenges between Gavrel and Seryn and how they addressed them. I was so terrified the whole time but equally happy with how it went.

Our found family is (almost all) reunited along with new additions and reveals! Breena is literally a highlight of this book, bringing such humor to the darkness. We find out and explore so much more leading us to an ending that had me gaping. This story is unique and intriguing and the romance was so delicious.

Tropes you may find in OBE are “Breathe”, fated bonds, hidden identities, increased world and character building, found family, meddling gods, broody and protective MMC, prophecies, plot twists, second chance, found family, unique magics, wyverns, comfort and mental health rep, medium spice, and a cliffhanger.

Rowyn, thank you once again for letting me be an arc reader for you and your team. It was a pleasure.

This is the second book in the Fate of the Embered series and I was mesmerized by it. Seamlessly starts where book 1, of Withering Dreams, left off. I was immediately immersed into the story and I couldn’t get enough.

The world building and magic system was beautifully written and I felt as though I could visualize it all. I really enjoyed having dual POV and being able to hear Gavrel’s insight. The plot was so captivating and paced well, definitely held my attention.

I love our MCs Seryn and Gavrel. The yearning, the chemistry and sexual tension between the two was everything! I ate it up. Loved the witty banter. The new characters were a nice addition to the storyline.

I could go on and on about this book. But I don’t want to spoil for those who haven’t read. If you are one that enjoys well crafted witty banter, uncovered secrets, high stakes quests, twists and turns and steamy slow burn with spice … then you will want to read this. Book 3 can’t come fast enough!

Rowyn Adelaide has done it again. Another great addition to her series. I love this book. It was one of those books that made you fall head first while being curled up on the couch with a bowl of ice cream and a blanket. I am going to be counting down the days for the 3rd book to come out. I got this book as an ARC and appreciate it so much.

2.5🌶️

We continue the story in book 2 with Seryn working through long-lost memories, unraveling magic, hidden truths, and burning love. On the run with Gavrel, she must unlock her powers and face a rebellion that threatens to consume everything. Fate demands sacrifice, and the ember inside her might ignite more than she bargained for.

Love this series. Another 5 star for me. A continuation of amazing world building & character growth, as well as new characters that I quickly wanted to know more about and loved. The dual POV - so well done, the friendships that have you laughing and giddy. While that cliffhanger had me clenching my molars (he he ) I cannot wait for book 3!

Received an ARC for my honest opinion.

"You are more than enough."

"May the wings of the raven carry you."

"I'd go to the depths of the Nether Void to find you."

"We will be the ones to bring them to their knees. To struggle is a privilege the elite will never know. They think fighting for survival is a weakness. But what they don't understand is that they more we've struggled, the more resilient we've become."

Ummm... How do I even begin to describe all the emotions I have swirling through my head right now? Rowyn, you have outdone yourself, once again. This book was HIGHLY anticipated as I LOVED and DEVOURED Of Withering Dreams, so I came in with high expectations for this gem. And man, were my expectations met, and then some! Everything about this book was absolutely PHENOMENAL and I cannot begin to even describe what I'm even feeling right now. This book had me hooked from page 1 and kept me hooked until the very end. Now I have to wait to see what happens because I'm most definitely going to need to know after that ending... Keep up the amazing work, sweet friend, and as always, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this gem!! So much love and support, sweet friend! 💖💖

NOOO, WHY IS THERE ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER?!

I mean, I know why. This is an amazing series. But dang. I just want to know what happens next!

Rowyn's lyrical prose continues to entice me, and OBE is just as beautiful as Of Withering Dreams; actually, even more beautiful, if that's possible. Rowyn sets each scene masterfully, blending the background with the action, and I can picture everything happening in my mind.

The story of Seryn and Gavrel continues; Kaden has been lost and they set out on a quest to find and rescue him before he is lost forever. They meet up with some of the side characters from book 1, and Breena continues to be a delight, giving some of the best banter in the series. We are given dual POV in this book, with Seryn and now Gavrel. It is a treat to get Gavrel's POV, giving us some insight into just what makes him tick, and why he did some of the things that were revealed in book 1. Gavrel and Seryn's relationship is messy, complicated, spicy, and it drew me in deep.

We are also introduced to new characters integral to the plot - and some of the reveals had me spinning! I did NOT see them coming!

I am anxiously awaiting the next instalment to see what they are up against next.

Thank you so much to Rowyn for the eARC! My opinions are my own.

Of Blooming Embers picks up right where book 1 left off, making a beautiful transition from book one to book two.

The writing is atmospheric and lyrical, which makes following along easy, considering all the world building that's going on.
Speaking of - the world building and unique magic system make for an incredibly exciting read. It's so captivating the way it grabs you and sucks you right in.

We have immense character development going on in this book, and we're introduced to new characters as well. Breena is still sassy & stabby. She continues to be one of my favorite characters, and Gavrel, he's top-tier book boyfriend material.

I love that we have dual POVs in this book so we can get a glimpse into what both our FMC and MMC are thinking.

I am itching to know what is going to happen next after that cliffhanger.

Rowyn does it AGAIN! This book absolutely did NOT disappoint. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.

Rowyn beautifully balances vivid descriptions that make you feel like you're inside the book with action that makes your heart stop.

I kicked my feet at multiple parts and was absolutely hooked in this story. The characters feel like people I know personally, and I'm so invested in their stories and how it plays out for them. The side characters have such an impact and feel just as important to hear their stories as the main characters.

Thoughts: If you thought you couldn’t love Gavrel anymore than you already had, I’m here to say Rowyn gave us not only the Roots of the previously Unwritten History between Gavie & Seryn, she gave us more Little Stars moments than you could count. I truly felt like we saw a lot of growth in their relationship & uncovered more about the mysteriousness that Gavrel held in book one.

I was also pleased to find it Never suffered from a “book 2 lull”, & I would dare to say it’s actually my favorite in the series thus far.

From the Murky Situations to the Golden Threads, this is a book you truly don’t want to miss.

P.s. To those who have read the book, did you notice something in my review? 👀

ROWYN. GIRL. You’ve officially turned me into a puddle of feelings, and Samson (my ever-patient photo prop and reading buddy) can confirm—I sat in my nook yelling at this book more times than I care to admit.

Book one had me hooked, but this? This is next level. The dream-versus-reality concept continues to be so clever, and the way you’ve expanded the world is chef’s kiss. Dual POV was everything—Serryn clawing back her memories and stepping into her power had me cheering, and Gavrel? Broody, obsessed, feral Gavrel? Sir, calm yourself. Actually, don’t. We love this for you.

The found family moments hit me right in the heart, Breena continues to be my chaotic fave, and the prophecies creeping closer with every chapter kept me glued to the page. The tension between Serryn and Gavrel is so sharp it practically crackles—peak “I would burn the world for you” energy.

And that ending?! I closed my kindle, stared at the ceiling, and whispered, “Rowyn, why would you do this to us?” But also…thank you. Because I live for this level of emotional destruction and Rowyn’s ability to break my heart in the prettiest ways. Bring on book three!

🙏 Huge thank you, Rowyn, for the gifted eARC—forever grateful!

Your new Romantasy obsession!

If you’re looking for a new romantasy series that checks all the boxes and will take you on a roller coaster of emotions the Fate of the Embered series NEEDS to be on your TBR immediately!

It’s been so long since a series has had me in a chokehold like this! I don’t want to give anything away in this review; SO much happens and is revealed in this second book. My jaw was hanging open by the last page!
The story telling and world building is beautiful and easy to understand without being overwhelming like it can be in some fantasy series. As for the romance aspect, the chemistry and heat between the characters was *chefs kiss* 🤌💋 Theres a perfect balance between the romance, spice, action, and plot.
All the side characters have me just as invested as our leading characters do. The found family aspect and banter between them all was fantastic. This series gets better with each book and I’m waiting on the edge of my seat to see what happens in the next one!!

Thank you SO much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book early! I appreciate it so much!

As Seryn pieces together long lost memories, dreams twist into reality, revealing truths more perilous than the nightmares she once feared.

Picking up from book 1, we follow Seryn as she comes into her powers and she and Gavrel search for answers in this immersive world that I just can’t get over picturing! The poetic prose of the writing just leaves me in awe!

New characters, locations, secrets and revelations! I was more gripped the second half of the book than the first and by the end I was left hanging, to be waiting for book 3!

Again, the cover of this book stunning in its dreamlike appearance. This book 2 of the Fate of Embered and is a dark romantasy. There are dreams and nightmares, cursed lands and mythical creatures and morally grey characters.

Thank you to author, Rowyn Adelaide, for the opportunity to read this book. I received an epub and am leaving my review voluntarily.

We start with Seryn and Gavrel heading on an adventure to find Kaden who mysteriously disappeared after the Winnowing. While attempting to fulfill this prophecy that keeps being thrown arohnd. We travel to new places, meet new faces, and some found family, though you'll have to read it to find out whose. Kaden the poor sod.

We experience some intense heat and not of the temperature kind. New characters, a hell of a lot of whitty one liners from our favourite Breena.

We have repeat appearances, a riot worthy ending.. yes Rowyn im calling it, a riot will form.

An epic continuation of the fate of the embered series. i'm going to go stare at the wall now because a bomb just got dropped while simultaneously being doused in gasoline.

read this book. No regrets. ok maybe just one. The FACT I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!

Read this they say... you will like they say... well they were right. I did like it. Well actually... I loved it. And you should read it also. But let me warn you. There is a chance that you will become attached to characters... that's ok. You will come to love these characters... that is also ok. Cause they are loveable. They grow, love, and sink their teeth in till you can't stop thinking about them. You will be obsessed. Just read it. It's worth it. But remember you have been warned. Also THAT ENDING.... *sigh*
If you haven't read Of Withering Dreams. Go forth and read it. If you have... why are you reading this instead of the book? If you have read both, welcome to our world... where you obsess until you get the next book.

OMG, I thought Of Withering Dreams left me reeling. Of Blooming Embers left me fractured and a little tormented. From the start I was hooked as Seryn and Gavrel are on the run to avoid being captured by Melina’s people. Seryn is still trying to piece together her memories and feelings from taking the tonic to remember EVERYTHING. She struggles with her feelings for Gavrel and he could easily set her on fire with the looks of desire he has for her. OBE has got it all- insane quests/journey, betrayal, truths and secrets that are revealed, the lust, desire, and spice in this book does not disappoint! I was sucked into this incredible world. Seeing more of the land, enjoying the people along the way, and on the edge of my seat throughout! I swear the last 50 or so pages left me with so much emotions- stunned, little confused, my heart ached, excited, and overall ready for more!

"You are the beginning and the end for me, my star. I would burn down every realm to get to you."

Phew!! I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel. The story picks off right where book one ends. There are new characters introduced and many secrets revealed throughout the story. I loved the constant push and pull between Seryn & Gavrel. Gavrel is all moody and serious but at the end of the day he would do anything for Seryn and the same goes for the rest of the gang.
Breena is such a breath of fresh air, she's witty and every time she said something it had me cracking up.

I was a bit confused at times but I think it's because I didn't re-read Of Withering Dreams to get my memory refreshed.

With that being said, that ending had me shocked! I can't wait to see how the story all comes together.

WHAT IN THE NETHER VOID DID I JUST READ!? I'm still shaking from the absolute rollercoaster ride I just got down from!! This masterful sequel has left me utterly speechless and desperate for more!

The twists and turns were expertly woven, keeping me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the very end. And that ending?!?! Along with the epilogue?!?! ANCIENTS, HELP ME!!! I'm dying over here, desperately craving book 3!

The progression from book 1 to book 2 is phenomenal! Rowyn Adelaide you outdid yourself MAAM!! While book 1 was great, book 2 is truly CHEF'S KISS perfection!

If you haven't already, READ. THIS. SERIES. NOW! Trust me, your sanity will thank you (or not, because Rowyn will destroy you in the best way possible)!

I had the honor of e-arc reading this and I am obsessed with Rowan Adelaide’s writing and this world she has created.
In book 2 OBE we start off right where OWD ends and we have dual POV from our FMC Seryn and our broody MMC Gavrel. I loved all the tension and yearning in this book and the spice was soo soo good. This book had me on the edge of my seat or curled up in a blanket wanting more. I ate this up!! Once I started reading this I couldn’t put it down!!! Sooo good!!!

Rowan Adelaide is a genius when it comes to world building and not losing you in it all. Sometimes you can get lost in the world build big and even during the first book I thought I might and I didn’t, I loved every minute of it. We have a little more in this as it is only the second book. I love her writing style and how I am transported into the story with these characters. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!

This book started off a bit slow for me but once that tension rope broke, things started to pick up for me. Seryn, the FMC has developed into such a fiery women that is continually growing in her powers and strength. With that being said, she has Gavrel on her side, adding to her fuel and the intensity they have for each other is like no other. Lord knows I was itching for them and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the history and world building this book had and the constant background information we were receiving. The ending only revealed more things that I need to know more about and I'm so excited to dive into this world again on the next book in this series

Once again Rowyn writes a masterpiece. I seriously love this series so much. It's so unique and attention grabbing. The aesthetic of this books is amazing!! And the
characters?!?! Ugh I love them all! I love how much they all grew in this book. My one and ONLY complaint was that it was a bit slower through the first bit and I definitely didn't read this one as fast as I did the first book. BUT it's still AMAZING AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! And excuse me with that ending cause I needed the next book like yesterday cause now I'm about to crash out. AN AMAZING BOOK AND CHARACTERS AND STORY AND AUTHOR JUST AMAZING ALL TOGETHER SO GO READ IT!!!

Potential Minor Spoilers

I loved the first book of this series so I knew I needed to get my hands on the second one. And let me tell you Rowyn did not disappoint with this book. As much as I loved this first book, this book was even better if that’s even possible. We find out some answers to questions that were lingering. We get to see Seryn and Gavrel journey across the realm to bring back Kaden. And our favorite best friend Breena also appears to lend her assistance! One thing I loved most about this book was getting to see Seryn learn more about who she is with her powers. She’s fierce! I don’t want to give too much more away. I’ll sum it up by saying that this was a great 2nd book and I’m already dying to get my hands on the next one!

ROWYN JOSEPHINE ADELAIDE (not her middle name...just made it up) THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE! I stayed up past midnight to finish it because I could not put it down. I loved the world building, the characters.....Gavrel...oh how I love thee. This book follows Seryn and Gavrel on their journey to find and save Kaden. They meet many others along the way, found family, learning magic and lots of twists which I love. The relationship between Seryn and Gavrel is chefs kiss, heartbreak and hardships along the way but always a deep profound love. My favorite quote "I aim to be your today and every tomorrow after that". SWOON😍

[ARC REVIEW]

The absolutely inhuman screeching that came out of my mouth after this. Like what a follow-up to the first book. At risk of spoiling things I’ll just leave you with this:

Giggling. Kicking feet. Screaming. Etc etc. Gavrel had me swooning and saying “Hi Commander 🥵😘” in a way I haven’t since Commander Cullen from DA:I. What can I say, I like a Sad Boy™️. So hell yeah, get it Seryn.

The twists and turns of this series has me locked in and theorizing about what can and could happen next because that ending had me doing laps around my kitchen.

Thank you Rowyn for the opportunity to ARC read for you again! I’m gnawing on drywall about this series 💜💜

OF BLOOMING EMBERS has completely CONSUMED me this weekend! 🔥📚

This second installment in the Fate of the Embered series is an absolute masterpiece that had me frantically turning pages until 3AM. Adelaide has crafted a world so immersive and characters so compelling that I'm still reeling from the experience.

Seryn's journey as she pieces together her fragmented memories while uncovering the dangerous magic flowing through her veins is absolutely captivating. And Gavrel? The tension between these two is ELECTRIC. Their complicated history and undeniable connection had me screaming into my pillow.

What makes this book truly exceptional is how Adelaide weaves together high-stakes action, political intrigue, and sizzling romance without missing a beat. The world-building continues to expand in fascinating ways, introducing new magical elements and raising the stakes to heart-stopping levels.

The writing is lush and evocative, with dialogue that crackles and emotional moments that left me genuinely breathless. I highlighted so many passages that my e-reader looks like a neon explosion! 📱✨

If you love adult dark fantasy romance with:

- ✦ Best friend's brother trope done PERFECTLY
- ✦ A morally gray heroine who refuses to be a pawn
- ✦ Prophecies that will make your head spin
- ✦ Magic systems with devastating consequences
- ✦ Spice that will have you fanning yourself
- ✦ Found family dynamics that will break your heart

... then you NEED this series in your life immediately.

Fair warning: clear your schedule before starting because you won't be able to put it down! I'm already counting down the days until the next book because that ending has me DESPERATE for more.

Of Blooming Embers releases July 17th! If you're a fan of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer L. Armentrout, or Carissa Broadbent, this series should be at the top of your TBR!

Once again, I am extremely grateful to Rowyn for entrusting me with an early copy of her beautiful book and for letting me be on her permanent ARC team!!! 🥹

And once again, a masterpiece has been delivered! This time, we have THE spice (and oh, such marvellous spice!!! 🌶) and we have yearning and pining! And we have an Ancients-damned revolution!!!

In this second book, we are delivered with amazing growth from various characters!!! We regain some of the characters who are such an unyielding stone-pillar in a world where dreams and nightmares are mixed with reality!!!

We see more of the world, so amazingly built and so unique, and we see and know more of the Ancients and their stories!!!

And we learn so fecking much!!! (To put it in Bree's words!!!) I had my breath knocked out of me too many times to count!!! Whether from the spice that was spicing or the revelations that were revelating!!!!!

Just like Of Withering Dreams, we are delivered more of a story that is unique, marvellously well built, and so beautifully written!!! And an amazing debut story and series at that!!!!

I can't wait for the next book!!! 💙
