Poppyridge inn is in chaos when Abby discovers the body of a strange man in a guest room. But he isn't a stranger to everyone. When detectives suspect her father, she doesn't know what to believe.
Cassandra has just arrived back at the inn after a much-needed Caribbean cruise, and caution tape was the last thing she expected to run into. When she learns that Abby's father is about to take the blame for the murder, she's determined to help. After all, she can sense things about people and has no doubt Briggs is innocent.
New guests begin arriving at the inn, and everything seems to be in order. The room where the body was discovered has been left vacant and locked up. But when guests start calling at 2 am, frightened about the noises coming from the locked guestroom, it's up to Cassandra to investigate.
Searching for clues ends up having a stealthy murderer ready to try again. Can Briggs prove himself innocent, or will Cassandra be the next victim?
While on the one hand I really did enjoy this book, on the other hand I have to say in my opinion it's not a cozy mystery but a general mystery instead. It is clean, although there's an emphasis on (sweet) romance in it. But it's serious and lacks the lighthearted quirkiness usually found in a cozy. No humor to be found here.
With that said, as a mystery it's well done. Plenty of twists and unexpected happenings, a determined amateur sleuth and a police detective that was quicker on the mark than most. There were some quite suspenseful moments and some sweet, gentle ones too.
I read it as a standalone and (I think?) there were some events in previous books that extend to this one but it was still easy to follow. I would read more in this series (or others) and thought the author does a good job creating a mood.
Murder at Poppyridge Cove (Seaside Inn Cozy Mystery #5)— Author: Rimmy London/Narrator: Angelina Rocco (19 chapters) October 11, 2024
Briggs watches the inn while Abby and Chase are on vacation. When a body is discovered in the inn, the police believe Abby’s dad has done the deed, and it makes it worse that he knows the dead person. Cassandra shows up shortly afterward, can read people well, and is convinced he didn’t do it.
This is a very good story that tells the backstory of Briggs. It also has some romantic hints between Cassandra and Briggs.
I enjoyed this story as it not only allowed some healing in the reconciliation between Briggs and Abby, but it allowed the former to confront some demons and begin the healing process of those events and memories from his past.
Abby runs the Inn and her father is doing landscaping work. She finds a dead body in one of the rooms and because her father recognizes the guy, the police arrest him for the murder. When Cass returns from a cruise, she finds crime scene tape and her friends dad in trouble. Knowing her sixth sense is always right about people, she starts the hunt for the killer. The characters are like family as they are caring and close-knit. The storyline is a roller coaster of twists, surprises, drama, suspense and intrigue. Loved the ending as it had me right up to the end. The locale was beautiful and relaxing. Can not wait to read more of this group.

Cassandra comes back to the Inn to find a dead body. Briggs had been working on the landscape and and when he saw the body, he recognized him. The police arrest Briggs for the murder. Cass knows he didn’t do it and sets out to prove him innocent. Very good murder mystery that keeps you guessing from the start. Loved the characters of Cass and Briggs, also Abby, Chase and Ava having minor parts. Well worth reading.

Murder has taken place at Poppyridge and Abby found the body! Cassandra is the manager of the Inn, and she could be falling for Abby's father who has been working around the Inn fixing things up. So another new romance, a murder to solve, oh and there's a new family home to get ready for a new family member on the way. What else is going to happen in this book or will these all be answered? Well all I can say is read the book and continue the series to find out.

Ms. London really spins a twisty tale in Murder at Poppyridge Cove! This book has the dead body of an unknown guest, Abby's extreme fatigue from her pregnancy, her dad arrested for murder and things that go bump in the night. That was more than enough to keep me reading nearly all night. I never came anywhere close to figuring this one out.
A nice, well written mystery that keeps you turning the pages and unable to stop reading. Strong, well developed and intriguing characters make the story seem real. A story line that keeps you guessing from the beginning.

I mostly enjoyed this book but there was too much romance and that’s not what I’m looking for. The writing was strong though and the author seems to have strong insight into the human experience and the psychology of people. If this author writes more without the romance, I’d be 100% in.
