Book 3 of the Omaera Playfair Chronicles A RH/Why Choose paranormal romance
A queen rises. A realm fractures. War is coming.
Just when I thought becoming the demon queen was the craziest thing that would ever happen to me…
My bear shifter mate becomes king of the shifters.
And then a dragon challenges him for the crown.
Which is a problem, because dragons don’t do politics. They hoard treasure, avoid people, and stay far away from realm drama.
So when the most powerful dragon shifter alive demands a challenge, it’s obvious something bigger is happening.
Unfortunately, figuring out what that “something” is might destroy the realm.
What starts as a single challenge quickly spirals into chaos between shifters, mages, vampires, and demons.
Alliances fracture. Blood is spilled.
And in the middle of it all, one of my mates disappears.
But the real nightmare is only just beginning.
Because someone has opened a portal to Hell…
…and the monsters stepping through once tried to start a war that nearly wiped out every race in existence.
Looks like saving the realm just became my newest responsibility.
Because if I don’t… there won’t be a realm left to rule.

Book 3 in a why choose/RH paranormal romance featuring dark themes, explicit content, violence, morally gray characters, and one woman with three love interests. This book ends in a cliffhanger. Sorry not sorry.
I have enjoyed this series. The mages, demons, shifters and vampires. Fated mates, intrigue, there is just so much. The world building has been great. The only downside is with that ending I hate having to wait a year for more.

Bite by Natalia Sloan is a gripping and chaotic, that fully leans into the scale and darkness of the Omaera Playfair Chronicles. The stakes feel bigger than ever as the world fractures under the pressure of power struggles, ancient threats, and shifting alliances, and Omaera is right at the center of it all trying to hold everything together.
The story wastes no time throwing you into conflict with the dragon challenge, adding an intense and unpredictable layer. It brings a sense that nothing is stable, and no one is safe, which carries throughout the entire book. The political tension between shifters, vampires, mages, and demons is messy in the best way, constantly shifting and keeping you on edge.
Omaera continues to shine as a strong but evolving heroine. She is powerful, but not untouchable, and the weight of leadership and responsibility is very real for her here. Watching her navigate loss, fear, and impossible decisions adds emotional depth to all the action.
The why choose dynamic remains a strong part of the story, with each mate bringing something different emotionally and strategically. The bonds feel established but are still tested in meaningful ways, especially with the added tension of one mate going missing, which raises the emotional stakes even higher.
The darker elements are more pronounced in this book, especially with the introduction of the portal to Hell and the looming threat behind it. It adds a sense of dread that builds steadily, making it clear that the danger is far from over.
The cliffhanger ending hits hard and leaves everything hanging in a way that feels both frustrating and completely fitting for the tone of the series. It sets up the next phase of the story with even higher stakes and unanswered questions.
This is a strong, fast paced, and emotionally charged continuation that delivers on action, tension, and character growth while leaving you desperate to see how it all resolves.
Book three starts off with a bang and does not stop. Chaos reigns as one action packed scenario after another is thrown out and the stress almost becomes too much for Omaera, but she has her mates to help her deal with it all (frequently in some very hot and steamy ways). The mage queen is also a wonderfully soothing and stabilizing influence for her to draw strength and guidance from. For all those that have been on team Drak from the beginning be prepared. Drak plays a very significant part throughout the book as his position as one of the three mates takes on a much more complex, interesting and dangerously challenging role.
Plus, there are dragons. Yes, dragons! With a challenge to the newly minted bear shifter king Zandren, who is also one of the three mates of Omaera’s.
Action, to the death challenge, epic battles, betrayals, kidnapping, torture, rescuing and so, so much more. With a come out of nowhere cliffhanger plot twist!!
I am so ready for book four and the continuation of all of these characters development who have all begun to feel like they’re family.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Omaera is on her way to proving she is worthy of her title, her mates already know she is but soon everyone will know. So much growth happens in book three. There are huge challenges ones that should never have been made and that they will attempt to stop, battles to be fought, mates go missing and not by choice, portals that lead to eminent danger. All of this is just part of the chaos because of course Omaera, Zandren, Maxar, and Drak can't have anything easy or simple. Book threes pace felt like the story is a bit more chaotic, that it's a little darker, a bit more emotional. But just as with the other books the mates have great banter, and although they don't always get along with each other their respect is growing and at times they might even be starting to like each other. So a Shifter, a Vampire, a Mage and a Halfling Queen riding a Dragon fall into .... Get ready for a cliffhanger it's a big one. And I'm so ready for book four! I have voluntarily left this review.
Book 3 focuses more on the ongoing conflict that Omaera has with her uncle and bonding with her mates. This one focuses more on Drak and Omaera and getting their bond formed.
In the middle of that one of her mates becomes king of the shifters and is challenged and she becomes in an alliance with the mages and to top it all off she encounters dragons.
This book shows the struggles that Omaera is having in accepting her role as Queen and how to navigate the world where everyone wants to harm her she is struggling. She is struggling but her mates help her navigate these new roles. At times she fails but that is what happens to us all but her mates love her no matter what. This shows her human side and the weight she is under. As then the twist at the end OMG cant wait for the next installment.
Thank you to Natalie Sloan for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
Oh Maxar, how I’ve missed you! We are now in Book 3 of our journey with our favourite half-demon Queen, Omaera and her lovely boys. I swear they can’t have anything nice, can they? I am loving the growth that each of these characters has had so far over the last 3 books. I think Drak has changed the most since book 1. Poor guy has been through some shit at this point!
I’m loving how the dynamic is constantly changing in their little group and how they are starting to actually care about each other. It warms my black little heart! I’m excited (and a little scared) to see where the story continues to go after the events of this book. They need a break at some point 😆! (Also wanna add in that I also love the idea of adding a dragon to her harem, cause I like Pyran! 😉)
Woah! So much happened in this book! It was action-packed and very emotional. Omaera and her three mates are planning their next steps after the events of the previous book. The challenge against Zandren brings chaos, new allies, and a missing mate. Omaera really feels the responsibility of being queen, and it was emotional seeing her handle the consequences of her decisions. She continues to develop her relationships with her mates, while they help her navigate her new life. The spice was both spicy and emotional, and I loved it! I’m super interested to see what happens in the next book after that cliffhanger.
I was pulled back into Omaera's world right away! The series is only getting better and more captivating! It was filled with danger, more unknown, and action.
Omaera, herself is so strong, but still has so much on her shoulders. She and her mates face new challenges and have to decide the best choices to make. We also see the relationships between her and her mates growing closer. There is lots of emotions and spice too!
Another fantastic addition to the series! However, after being left with that ending... I'll be going crazy for the next!!
Bite is the 3rd installment of the Omaera Playfair Chronicles and it absolutely has to be read in order, since there's no intro or recap of past events. The saga continues with a wild ride - both figuratively and literally. Hint: There be dragons! The mix of bonding and claiming sexy times, danger and suspense keeps the tension growing and growing - until the chapter closes with another cliffhanger ending. I received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
Just when I thought I couldn't be more frustrated by the ending, along comes Omaera and her men to raise the stakes. I just need to know what's next for this relationship. It's worth the wait, but my imagination is running overtime thinking of ways to resolve the power struggles, the relationship issues and the growing tensions of power imbalances.
I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a really good why choose romance. It was the third book in the series and it definitely needs to be read in order. The story got even more interesting and I really enjoyed it. I’m warming up to Omaera’s other mates but Zandren will always be my favorite. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I’m loving this why choose fantasy romance series. This is book 3 in the series and they have to be read in order. This book took me through an action packed emotional rollercoaster of a ride before dumping me on the edge of a cliff!!! Need the next book asap.
I received a copy of this book from the author and have chosen to leave my honest review.
I’m giving this 5-stars because I am still seriously obsessed with the writing style. I love the character Maxar so much! It was Maxar’s moments that really had me scoring this so high! I feel so much for Drak! Like… my heart goes to him so much from the last book to this one 🥰
I love this so much! I loved Heir and Pain! This was such a great read. Omaera and her mates have so much that they have to go through sooo much to have their HEA! I can’t wait to find out how this will end! This is NOT a standalone…you have to read Heir and Pain first.
Bite did not disappoint! If anything it left me impatient for book 4. There is so much going on with the Queen and her mates in this book, it is action packed with many different characters. This is such a well written series and it keeps your interest from the beginning.
The book was so worth the wait! A battle is imminent but things are not always as they seem. Along the way we meet more friends, enemies and discover a diabolic agenda years in the making. I can't wait to see what new journeys await.
This installment of the series felt more fast paced compared to the first two, which I appreciated. It felt like it mainly centered on character development, and I’m excited to see how it all plays out in book 4. The banter was top notch and the spice was definitely spicy!
Wow!! Oh my word this book was full from the start it was full of danger, pain, betrayal, kidnapping & god was it emotional. I was a wreck reading this one & to be left hanging of one serious cliff I'm desperate for the next book.
OMG. Action packed and continuing the journey of Omaera and her three fated mates. Ends on a cliffhanger and I just can't wait to see what is in store for this group!
This is the third book in this series and definitely need to be read in order I find as is series go on its just getting better and better. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Holy moly! There was so much going on in this book.
Omaera & her mates are trying to recover after the incident that left her father-in-law missing a limb. But then they are immediately thrown into a challenge against Zandren.
Now they have to go find this shifter that has set this challenge to try & talk him out of it.
But they never expected more trouble when they finally find him. So now they are on another mission to locate his sister who was kidnapped in order to stop this challenge.
But then the challenge comes & chaos follows at the hands of Lerris. And in that chaos one of her mates is taken & held at the hands of Howar.
They keep trying to find him whilst also dealing with all of the other chaos that is happening around them. Just to add that the need for Drak & Omaera to bond is becoming so much stronger now.
There is so much that happens in the way to finding her taken mate & so much more chaos. But that ending, that cliffhanger was so not fair.
But this book was well written & I found myself anxious to see wha happens to the characters.
