International Bestselling, Award Winning, Author M. Clarke resides in Southern California. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great
I'm currently working on Something Amazing. It's a spin-off to Something Great. The prologue sample is on the back of Something Forever. I can't wait for you to meet Rachel, Becky's sister and few new characters. Mark it to read and keep your eyes out for pre-order. Thank you so much! Release date January 12, 2015. Also, My Clarity spin-off coming soon, My Serenity, 2015, after Something Amazing. You can read the prologue in the back of Something Forever.
I think it’s interesting how life brings us exactly what we need and usually it’s when we least expect it. We aren’t always prepared to receive these blessings due to bad timing, personal insecurities, dark secrets, etc. No matter how hard we fight against it, things that are meant to be will never leave your heart or mind the same again. They will latch onto your soul as they slowly become a part of your life whether you want them to or not. Time apart only brings with it fear, anxiety, questions, and doubts that will haunt and torment us every step away we take. Why do we push good things away and hope that they will disappear and yet come back on a better scheduled day and time? No matter what anyone thinks, we owe it to ourselves to live a life that brings us true happiness and unspeakable joy. How dark and heavy life is apart from these beautiful gifts. Let us hope that we learn from our mistakes and take hold of those treasures that we find along the way in unexpected places and at the most inopportune times. For only then will we truly be able to experience and enjoy all the benefits of a rich and full life.
Rachel just got out of a dead end relationship that has left her feeling heart-broken and unwanted. To help her cope with this misery, she and her best friend Stacey go on a dream vacation to an exotic getaway. Leaving behind the pain, loss, and confusion, she allows herself to enjoy the beautiful landscape, the mouth-watering food, and the wonderful hospitality of new friends. In the midst of her new paradise, she finds something that she was never looking for in a stranger named Jax, and she begins running from it. The harder she fights against her blossoming feelings for Jax, the more relentless he becomes in his pursuit of not just her but her heart. However, as her defenses begin to falter, she finds that he is hiding something from her. She does the only she can to protect her heart. She runs away and keeps on running. After their truly memorable time together, Jax is absolutely sure that he wants to keep Rachel in his life no matter the cost. Will Jax find that his determination and stubbornness will win out over Rachel’s, or will she drive him away in an effort to protect what is left of her heart? Will he lose her to secrets and misunderstandings, or will she finally open her eyes to the destruction she is raining down upon them and welcome the truth with an open heart?
I think that Jax is the true enigma in this story. There are so many layers to his initial playboy façade that I couldn’t wait to get to know. He projected a carefree, bad boy demeanor, but the more he interacted with Rachel, the more I could tell that there was so much more to him. He never forced himself on her, and he took every available opportunity to show that he had a tender, caring, and loving heart beneath his perfectly chiseled body. My heart hurt for them as they both went their separate ways without a promise of a future knowing how deeply they have touched each other’s heart and slowly engrained themselves into the other’s soul. They suddenly found themselves standing on the edge of a deep, dark, mysterious drop that would either shatter them to pieces at the bottom or give them wings to lift them up to the heights of heaven and beyond. It took a devastating tragedy to pull Rachel out of her paralysis and gave her the courage to finally open her heart and take that deadly yet wonderful leap of faith. What she found was beyond even her wildest of dreams. Together they found an extravagant love, an exquisite sense of belonging, and an amazing family worth fighting for.
M. Clark is a truly outstanding author who will always be one of my all-time favorites! She never fails to deliver a very real, very heart-wrenching story that could easily be about real people. She infuses her heart and soul into each transforming journey that makes them solely unique and utterly passionate. I have yet to be able to put one of her books down after I start reading them. It’s imperative that I try to read it all in one sitting because I can’t bear to tear myself away from the spectacular characters that have come to mean so much to me. I invest more than just my time into reading each stunning creation by M. Clark. My heart and my mind never fail to be held captive by her outstanding literary talent that only gets better with time.
I love this spin-off of the Something Great series. It is a stand alone novel but you will want to read the series when you're done. I love M. Clarke's books because they instill the message to women to not settle and that they deserve that someone special someone.
Rachel is distraught because she has broken up with her boyfriend and not sure if she has done the right thing. Her sister Becky assures her she'll be fine and to go enjoy her vacation and meet some hot surfers.
Mary Ting/M. Clarke's books draws you in and absorbs you into the story. You can't wait to see what happens next but yet you don't want the story to end. You can't help caring about the characters and find yourself feeling all of the emotions that they're going through. Kudos to Mary for another "Amazing" read and I look forward to what comes next.
4 turtle stars. When you read this story you'll understand why I picked "turtle stars" but until then you'll be left wondering why I did. The story has an element of mystery surrounding Jackson Clark and it really had me guessing until it was revealed. This is the first book in the series but can actually be read as a standalone if you don't want to continue in this world because there's kind of a happy ending wrap up.
Ah, Jackson Clark is beautiful and incredible. He's charming, in your face, confident, and oh so much fun. I liked him as soon as he was introduced. I have a thing for borderline cocky men, what can I say? He has a secret he keeps from Rachel that almost rips them completely apart before they can even try to have a real relationship. I think it's more like two secrets but the first one is the one which gives him a mysterious feel because he never tells Rachel what he does for a living.
Rachel Miller's sister is marrying into the Knight family which allows for Rachel to have the chance to work at Knight Fashion Magazine, that and her awesome photography skills. She didn't think she'd take the position at first since she'd lived in NYC since college and wasn't too sure about relocating to the West Coast (LA). Once Jackson Clark storms into her life and leaves her wanting more, she decides it's time to make the move.
Jackson and Rachel have a beautiful time while they are in Kauai. They explore the attraction between them to realize it isn't just physical. They enjoy one another's presence and can have great conversations. They learn things about each other and realize they aren't really able to just leave what they are as a fling meant for a vacation. After several struggles, some bigger than others, the two come together in a beautiful way. They care for each other for who they are and not their titles, occupations, or net-worth.
I was given a ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Mary does it yet again. I honestly have no idea how the woman does it? each book I love more than the rest. M.Clarke delivers yet another captivating read that hold holds your attention from the start and does not let ago. I loved every single sweet and funny moment. This was a tiny bit different from what we`re used to form Mary. And I was pleasantly surprised like always. It was HOT. We meet Rachel, who is Beckys sister and she has recently broken up with her boyfriend and she isnt certain if she made the right move, so we're taken on her journey of rebuilding herself. Will she find her way? can she find love in Kauai? you will have to read to find out ;-)
But I promise you, you will not be disappointed. I truly hope there is more and we get to see where these guys end up. M.Clarkes stories are perfection at its finest.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Something Amazing has a different feel from the others in the series, it is young, fun, sexy, & hot!!! M. Clarke has an amazing writing style and her words are so touching. I have to say I love Jace in this book, you will know who I am talking about when you read it. So cute, and amazing, he is one of my favorite characters in this book. I love his interactions with others in the book.
This book was Something Amazing and I can't wait for more in the series, I can't get enough of M. Clarke's writing!!! I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars!!!

As always Mary Ting/ M. Clarke found a way to make me fall in love, not only with the story, but especially with the characters. I adored the Something Great series and this spin-off is just as special as her other books. Rachel, after a recent break up, decide to go on holiday with her best friend Stacey and to have some fun! A beautiful place, amazing food and even better company, Rachel meets a hot surfer, Jax, and his brother, Hendrix. What starts out as a fun fling becomes so much more when Rachel and Jax can't seem to stay away from each other, but distance and secrets are keeping them apart. What is Jax hiding? What is Rachel afraid of? What will happen when Rachel get a new start and Jax's secrets are revealed? Will they find a way to overcome everything that stand between them? I fell in love with Jax and Rachel. Rachel is such a sweet and caring person. Jax is a very hot, arrongant man, but underneath all that you can see the real man, a caring, loving, tender one, who would do anything to get the woman he wants. The secret..wow..didn't expect it and I love even more how everything turns out, even the heartache, because something this amazing is hard to find and you have to fight for it!
This is the story of Rachael, Becky's sister. Rachael is similar to Becky's in a few ways. Yet totally her own person. I was hooked on this book front the start, and not just because it was part of the "Something Great" series, but because it was a great story. Ms. Clarke writes a great story and has you feeling just what the characters are feeling. I was wishing I was with Jax many times, and jealous of Rachael. But they had their ups and downs, as well. Because it can't be Happily Ever After without going through some rough times. If you have not read any of the other books in the series, that is ok. You can read this one without the others and not be lost, as this is more of a spin-off. But if you have read the other books and loved them, I highly recommend you read this one too.
Something Amazing (Spin-off to Something Great Series) M. Clarke 4 stars
Rachel Miller is off to take a break in Kauai with her best friend Stacey. Her soon to be brother in law set the ladies up in a plush set up. It’s the least he can do after Rachel’s break up with Greg AND he is of course trying to convince her to come work for his company. Rachel wants what her sister has with Matt Knight but she isn’t sure its out there for her.
The girls meet Hendrix and Jax, very different men; but brothers who are pretty yummy ladies. Stacey is swooning over Hendrix but Rachel is unimpressed with Jax. Not only is Jax surprised by her reaction to him but he also has been warned off from Rachel determining her off limits but Matt. Matt was not hesitant to let his friend Hendrix know that Rachel was not to be messed with. Jax could care less about Matt’s warning. He isn’t friends with him; his brother is. Jax has no loyalty to the man and plans to keep Rachel company whether she wants to spend time with him or not.
After his constant presence, Rachel finally gives Jax a chance but reminds him nothing is going further or past whatever time she is spending in Kauai especially since Jax wont tell her what he does or who he is. If Jax is determined to have more with her why wont he open up? Is there something horrible in his past or is there someone else he is hiding from her? Jax better step up his game to keep his girl if he truly wants to keep her; but will he …..
The only other thing I can say about this book is that it is a good read. Its quick but a good story line.
Next book in line .. Something Precious
Nice quick read. Some surprises --- it’s a clicker for sure! Review to post on Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets on release day. Thank you M. Clarke for the ARC that was provided for an honest review.
I have read all of Mary's books and I was given this one as an ARC to give an honest review. I love all of her work, she's an amazing author and she definitely delivered with this one! All of the Something Great novels have these sweet love stories with the perfect mix of tension and hotness that I just can't get enough of and this was one of them. I definitely recommend this book!
I love this book, is completely beautiful story... I enjoy this book for the content it has love, passion but loyalty. Anyone can learn for this book not to judge people for what they look because no one knows how that person will help in the future or what it will become.
I loved this book! This is an amazing series that I have thoroughly enjoy. This series is full of drama, angst, steam and a ton of sexy times. And this book was no different. This book did well at building the chemistry between Rachel and Jackson was combustible at times. This book also had a few twists I did not see coming. It had me racing to flip the pages and swooning by the end.
This is Jackson "Jax" and Rachel's story. Rachel has just broken up with her boyfriend of two years. The long distance, chemistry and feelings have just fizzled out over time. She decides to go on vacation with her roommate/BFF to move on and get her head straight. What she doesn't expect is the surfer dude and how he ignites a fire in her. Too bad Rachel is done with long distance relationships but maybe a fling could do her some good. Jax has a list of troubles on his sheet but that doesnt stop him from wanting or actively pursuing Rachel. He is determined to get her between the sheets. But when feeling get involved, is it possible for them to work? Jax has secrets that could ruin them. Rachel is about to make a life changing decision. Can these two work? Will the betrayal be too much? Is a happy ending possible for these two when it seems the world is against them?
I loved Jax and Rachel together. It was obvious from the first look that they had a connection. They had a ton of push and pull and it was both equal parts their fault. Jax had secrets and Rachel was damaged from her break-up, but these two worked when they were together. I also wanted to smack these two quite a bit but they finally got their heads on straight. The ending.... PERFECT!
It was awesome to get Becky, Matthew, Jenna and Max updates on how they are all doing and what's going on in their lives. We also get them in the background at the end of the book. SQUEE!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this spin-off story from the Something Great series, but I have to admit I liked it.
Rachel, who has broken up with her boyfriend because of distance, decides a trip to paradise is what she needs to move her life in a different direction. When she get to Kauai with her best friend, she finds herself fallen for the charms of Jackson Clark. She tries to convince herself that she's only having an island fling with Jackson and that they are just friends. But when she returns to New York, she find she can't stop thinking about him, which complicates things for her. Then a new job has her moving to LA and discovering there was a lot more to Jax than she knew.
I really enjoyed Jax's free spirit. He had a wake up call and he's doing what he needs to in order to keep his life uncomplicated. And despite that, when he met Rachel he knew she was a woman that was going to change his life. She changed it in a big way, but Jax had to overcome her fear of a long distance relationship and other complications in order to finally get the woman who was meant to be his.
Rachel was a little hard to like. I could understand why she was reluctant to start anything with Jackson, but I didn't like how she kept trying to label things. Even when she went back to New York, she had to know what she was feeling for him was much more than a normal friendship, so why keep trying to cram it in that box. I also didn't like her dating. I don't know why...it just rubbed me the wrong way (probably because of how she felt about Jax). In the end, Rachel had to learn to get out of her own way to find her happiness with Jax. Once she did, was had an amazing man who was going to love her.
A nice addition to the Something Great series. If you've read that series, you'll recognize some friendly faces. While you don't need to read any of those books to enjoy SOMETHING AMAZING, for those that have, it was great to see those characters again and how well they're doing.
Something Amazing can be read as a stand alone. Rachel Thomas needs a vacation and where better than off to Kauai with her best friend Stacey. Of course her brother in law Matthew told her where to stay since he has connections everywhere. In Kauai, Rachel meets hunky heartthrob Jackson. Rachel is not one to have a fling, but Jackson is just so dreamy that it's hard to forget about him. It also doesn't help that he shows up at all the places she visits and doesn't take no for an answer. They decide what happens in Kauai stays there and they will just move on. They refuse to have any sort of long distance relationship since that never worked out for Rachel with her last relationship.
"When the soul mates find each other, the stars link up side by side. Those two stars are you and me."
Jackson seemed like he had a lot of baggage from the get go, and boy does he! There were plenty of surprises for Rachel, boy did she have a shock of a lifetime. I did enjoy the storyline, but I have to be honest and say that I was bored. This was a shock to me since I absolutely Loved the other books in this series. I just didn't love this. I had a hard time connecting with the characters, especially at the end of this book. I was actually really frustrated that the book dragged and at the end, all the action came up and then it seemed rushed. Others may enjoy this, but I just didn't love it and can't rate it any higher. The sex scenes were definitely hot, so while I may have gotten bored, the sex scenes kept me turning the pages.
Something Amazing was just that….AMAZING! As a spin off of the Something Great Series it can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed the first 3 books but this….this one is my new favorite! Jax and Rachel hold a special place in my heart now!
Rachel is recovering from a break up, taking a vacation to relax and get away from it all. I don’t think that she expected to meet Jax….he was sweet, caring, and a little arrogant (in a schmexy way of course). What started out as a holy-hell-hot beach side fling…
I’m going to ride you how I do it on the waves…steady and slow, then rough and hard. You won’t know what hit ya.
turned into so much more….
I want the next five days to be the most memorable time of your life. I want to have a piece of your heart, be in your thoughts, and live in your memory. I just want this moment with you.
I experienced so many “feels” as I read. I was happy and sad. I had my heart warmed and then turned to ice and shattered. I truly felt like I was there. Reading their story was like being there, watching their every move. M. Clarke has done an amazing job at making you know the characters and feel as if you are on the sandy beach beside them.
I just know that you will thoroughly enjoy this story and you will want a JC of your own….see, look at me…I have one ;)
This was such a great book. I love friends to lovers kind of book and this is definitely a favorite of mine. After a break-up, Rachel’s sister and soon to brother in law send her to paradise to relax and enjoy. She or rather her friend, see a gorgeous surfer at the beach but don’t talk until later that night. Jax is persistent but agrees to be friends. By the time the vacation is over, they are feeling more than they should but agree to stay friends. Rachel, during this time is trying to move on and forget about the fling but can’t, thanks to her roommate. Plans are in motion but soon that plan falls apart when Rachel finds out what Jax is hiding. She soon finds out that the things she never wanted, she now wants in her life. I really enjoyed Rachel, she sweet and full of sass plus makes Jax work for her attention. When she’s mad, she’s really mad and ignores everyone. She’s very stubborn but forget about how sneaky her sister and the rest of the gang is. Jax, has a lot of things going on in his life. His career which includes traveling and other things. He is trying to balance everything including Rachel but thanks to his crazy ex-kinda, it’s hard to do. There’s lots of drama but it all works out until the end or so I think so. Time to read the next part of their story…..
I liked the theme in Something Amazing where you shouldn't settle for second best and not to compromise. My favorite characters from the original series is of course Matt & Becky. Every time Matt appeared in the book, it made me giggle and blush. He is so naughty. Because of how I feel about the strong characters like these two, I was a little bit wary when I first started reading the spin-off. However, these characters tying in with the new ones were done well. Keep in mind that this spin off is about Becky's sister, Rachel - Rachel is completely different from her sister which was refreshing.
I was expecting something different for the main male character Jax but was pleasantly surprised to see that he was down to earth. He has his own secrets which adds heat to the story.
Something Amazing is a stand alone book but I recommend you read the series. You won't regret it!
I loved this just as much, if not a little more, than I did Something Great!! Although I didn't always understand Rachel's mindset, I still found her to be caring and sweet and likable. Jackson was an amazing hero for me. That man was arrogant yet tender and caring and he was letting nothing get in the way of what he wanted. This story had a lot of twists, and things are revealed about the past that affect the outcome of the future but none of it was *silly* or seemed out of place. Yes, there may have been some unnecessary drama, but not enough to make it a bad book. The ending these two got was perfection and it was really good to connect with past characters of the Something Great series!! Copy provided for blog tour review
I received an ARC for an honest review of Something Amazing (Something Amazing #1) by M. Clarke
This was my first M. Clarke book and it was terrific. Jax and Rachel meet while on vacation and following a break up. Rachel does her best to resist Jax and his charms but the attraction is just too much. After realizing that they want to be with one another for more than a few nights of fun, Rachel learns of some secrets that Jax has been hiding. She has to decide does she want the package deal which includes happily ever after or will she walk away from it all empty handed?
Omg I love Rachel and Jax. These two rank high on my list of best characters. Sometimes life throws you curve balls and it shows you who you really are. The ending is beautiful! Thank you Mary for sharing this amazing story with all of us!
The characters in this book were fun to read about
I enjoyed the descriptiv language regarding the vacation area especially. Rachel is Becky's sister from Something so great. Rachel and Jackson are amazing together so the title is fitting.
This spin off was introduction of Becky’s sister and how falling for someone unexpectedly stumbled in to Rachel’s life and turned her world around. Very hot and romantic with pinch of some laughs. Definitely recommend the read and audiobook.
Liked this story. You never know what life has in store for you. Rachel just got out of a relationship and literally meets Jax and the attraction is at an all time high. But more than that they share a bond and you can see it growing even during the drama and secrets.
Oh my, my. This story was hot and steamy. I love Rachel and Jackson's story! I'm not going to spoil anything, but there is intrigue, so go read it for yourself! M. Clarke knocked it out of the ballpark!!!!!!
Something Amazing by M. Clarke is a spin-off of her Something Great series, but it can be read as a standalone with interconnected characters. I have really enjoyed this series, so I was excited to see another book coming out. While it was nice to see familiar faces, I really loved Jax and Rachel's story and it might even be my favorite of them all. This one was really great, and I loved how sweet it was.
When Rachel Miller decides to end her long distance relationship, she decides to take a trip to Kauai with her roommate and best friend Stacey. Not only is she going through the breakup, but she is also trying to decide if she should accept the job offer she got to work for Knight Fashion Magazine. Though the job would bring her closer to her sister in L.A., it would also take her away from her best friend and the life she is used to in NY. When she meets the sexy Jax while on vacation, things get even more confusing as she finds herself enjoying the time they spend together. The attraction between them is instant, and the more time they spend together the more she starts to develop real feelings for him. But Jax is holding things back from her, and with her vacation almost over she knows that another long distance relationship is the last thing she needs. But both Jax and Rachel find it hard to let go of one another and both hope to find a way to make it work. When the truth finally comes out about all that Jax hadn't told Rachel though, can their love find a way to survive all the obstacles they still have ahead of them?
I liked Jax a lot. He was sweet and sexy, and confident. He knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. But what really got me with Jax was how much depth he had to him. He really opened up to Rachel about things that meant a lot to him, and I liked seeing him share those parts of himself with her. I wish that he had been more upfront about the bigger things in his life, but I also understood that he wanted to see how things would go for them first. It was hard for me to understand why he continued to keep it from her though as the story progressed and they grew closer to one another. I loved his connection with Rachel though, and it was clear that these two belonged together. Rachel was great most of the time, and I liked seeing her take some chances and push her limits a bit. I did think that she had a tendency to run scared a bit too many times though, and I was glad that Jax called her on it. He never let her hide, and I liked that. I thought that these two really did have a great connection, and the chemistry between them was clear.
Overall, this was a really great story and I loved Rachel and Jax together. I will say that besides Rachel's running scared annoying me, I also felt like there were a few other times that I didn't like how things were handled. I wish that Jax would have been a bit more understanding after the truth was revealed. I felt like Rachel had a lot to think about and they were some very big things, but when she didn't instantly change her life he gave up on them. I didn't care for that when it was his fault that she hadn't been aware of it all until it came out, and she didn't even get to hear it from him. I also found it a bit weird that the author shamelessly plugged another book of hers in this book. Not that its necessarily a bad thing, but it just really stood out to me and I didn't really like it. That being said though, I really did enjoy Rachel and Jax's story and it was definitely one of my favorites of this series. If you haven't read the Something Great Series by M. Clarke, I would definitely recommend you start at the beginning since the characters are interconnected and all the books are good but it isn't necessary to enjoy Something Amazing.
