CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.

In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.

In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

Overall, I give Clear Card 4 stars. I LOVED most of this story so so much. Loved the new characters. Loved the Alice In Wonderland spin. But I do have to admit, the ended was a little abrupt and really left me wanting more. I did love this series a lot. Cardcaptor Sakura will always have a place in my heart. But the first two series were much better.

Anything Card Captor Sakura will always have a special place in my heart. This series had its moments but overall I found it lacking. I honestly wonder if it would have been better if it hadn’t been set almost directly after the first series, but a year or two beyond that.

I'm a longtime CLAMP fan! Sakura and Syaoran are two of my favorite fictional characters! But Clear Card as a series really didn't need to exist... There's no reason why the story of Akiho and Kaito couldn't have stood alone, maybe with a cameo from Sakura and company.

It's really hard to write a good plotline that hinges on time as a mechanic and this missed the mark often. (Yuuko Ichihara and original!Clow are rolling in their graves.) CLAMP played very fast and loose with rewinding time, rewriting history, and the consequences therein. I was expecting to cry at Kaito's sacrifice and Akiho's feelings-of-missing-her-special-someone, but it was all resolved too quickly.

Sakura's powers made it all too easy. All the Clear Cards she went through the trouble of making disappeared before the climax and only a few came back. Momo didn't even make another appearance. All of Sakura's many friends, including Syaoran, supported her, but it felt like she could have done it with or without them.

Overall, this was kind of a disappointment. My nostalgia and my love for these characters kept me reading, but if you're not already a fan, this series isn't for you. There are many superior CLAMP series (like Tsubasa) so maybe read one of those instead. 2/5

Sinceramente, esperaba otro desenlace.

cries in childhood memories.

actually never read the Clear Card arc before but it was very very original to CCS and very Sakura HAHAHA so innocently tingly and heartwarming and everyone was so pure-hearted and kind. some people didn't really like Clear Card but I felt very intrigued by the plot, which is how I managed to read for 6h straight... went to bed at 5am after reading 8 volumes HAHAHAH.

I will say, the Nadeshiko x Lilie crossover was a bit confusing and the entire clan/secret society thing with the Time Magic took me a while to get. I also did NOT understand the whole ending climax scene in clockland. was it just confusing because Sakura herself was confused on what was real and what was a dream? either way, it was good... I really liked how the new cards took on the images of those closest to Sakura and were named after phenomena. I also liked how Syaoran in Clear Card had more of a mature, developed personality and he was really sweet!! he also gained a lot of magical power and I thought it was super cool that he was the one controlling the Sakura cards and so diligent albeit burdened. although, I kinda miss all the little bratty lighthearted moments too. Tomoyo, as always, was so kind and sensitive, so sharp in her intuition and sensing of those around her. would have liked more Toya and Yukito scenes!! also would have liked more backstory on Syaoran's mom and the prophecy, and overall just general development on Syaoran as the future Li clan head and what went on back in Hong Kong.

big shoutout to my girl Mirror... I really really love the Mirror card... she is so cute and so earnest and her little crush on Toya is so sweet. honestly, all the Sakura cards are so sweet and when they appeared in Syaoran's house, I was so filled with warmth.

strange to say this, but the characters of CCS are so kind and pure that they are so admirable. their love for each other is so deep and unconditional that it really makes me wonder if it is possible to be like this in real life. I would want to be this kind of person - loving with no bounds, so infectiously cheerful and supportive, and determined to do good every time.

ok ok ok i don’t care i really liked this 🤡

was the plot a bit convoluted and confusing af? yep, definitely. but tbh most of the characters themselves were utterly confused most of the time because of the whole turning back time thing and sakura’s prophetic yet incomprehensible dreams, so it sort of added to the reading experience for me. i definitely plan on rereading this arc at some point though to really figure everything out properly

i wasn’t the biggest fan of the alice in wonderland theme because it is rather overdone imo but it did work out here somehow. i also wish that the ending hadn’t been so abrupt and that we had gotten more glimpses at already established friendships and in particular sakura and syaoran’s relationship (i mean, hello?? they’re finally together after having to navigate a long-distance relationship at such a young age and now they can’t even hold hands for the majority of the series because of some weird mysterious spell? THE GUT-WRENCHING YEARNING WE COULD HAVE HAD)

i know a lot of people don’t really vibe with the clear card arc because the story lacks action-packed scenes and suspenseful plot points. i myself am more of a slice-of-life type of gal, so i actually didn’t mind that too much; tbh the capturing of the cards itself has always been my least favourite part of the original series. and once again, the lack of excitement when it came to the capturing of new cards reflected the plot well since sakura was randomly generating cards based on her own thoughts and desires. even she herself didn’t understand where half of them came from

and even though i do really wish we had gotten to see more of the characters we already know and love from the original series, i did enjoy akiho and kaito as well (though it must be said: clamp, i am once again asking you for normal adult-child relationships pls 💀💀 because what do you mean the wiki states that kaito is somewhere between 17 and 20 years old and yet they’re apparently officially dating at the end???)

I didn't realize this was the last volume until I actually got it! It was a bittersweet surprise. I love Cardcaptor Sakura. I have loved her since I was a kid watching her on Saturday morning cartoons. I saw the anime. Then read the original manga from my local library. Then read the Master of the Clow from my local library. Then I read Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (MCU multiverse, who?). Then I watched the two movies. Then I bought the original series and the Master of the Clow. Then I bought the large special edition books that were published a few years back. I even started reading other CLAMP works, and received the shock of my life when I realized they actually write some pretty dark and traumatizing stuff. But I digress. The point is, I'm a fan.

So when I saw Clear Card I was super excited! Cardcaptor Sakura, in general, is much lighter and sweeter than a lot of CLAMP's other works (you have been warned). This final volume had our heroes resolving the major problem. I love how much support Sakura had in this series. With American super heroes, there's always the idea of the lone hero against the world. Even when they team up, it's the exception not the rule. In this one, while Sakura was clearly the main character and impressively powerful, she still had the love and support of those around her. I smiled through most of the last chapters of this final volume. It was really good. I definitely recommend it!

This has been a muddied and convoluted series from the beginning, but I feel like this volume does a good job of getting the action and meanings across to the reader. Mostly. Stuck with grayscale, some of the action sequences are too busy to know what is happening until someone says what is happening. I love Sakura. She's one of the sweetest manga characters out there and Clamp's art is always top notch. I'm giving this 5 stars because it's the finale to a series brand that is precious to me. However - I wish things had been done differently throughout this story to make it more cohesive and less convoluted, and I'm happy it's finally over for that reason. I'll miss having new Sakura, but won't miss having new confusion. I hope we get to see her again when she's a little older. I'd also love a special or series dedicated to her brother and dad - that would be interesting.

I have wanted so badly to enjoy this new arc for Sakura and her. companions.
However this story feels incomplete.
I felt like there were pieces missing from Akiho and Kaito and the basis of why he did everything he did.
I also feel like I was excited about Sakuras creation of the clear cards only to have a majority of them vanish is really disappointing.
The artwork however was immaculate and so great!! I loved her new staff, and the inclusion of more of her mother’s background story.
It just felt like important pieces were skipped or missed.

The final book of the series, and it's a solid send off. I can't help but compare it to the ending of the original series of the Clow Card arc, which just felt more solid. As an ending goes, this was decent. I enjoyed the way things tied up, but there still feels like a whole lot left unexplained. I suppose I expected there to be more with Nadeshiko and Akiho's mom? But aside from a snippet here and there, nothing.

And still they playin' dumb about Yukito and Touya, but CLAMP do as CLAMP do.

Solid ending. One star solely for Touya, though.

Even though the series involves magic so you should expect sudden changes, the series ending felt rushed to me. I'm glad that the characters seemed pleased but i was left with a lot of questions still about who the big bad truly was, the relationship between Sakura's family and groups of magic users, and even what has happened between Toya and Yuki. What I see is a set-up for future series, which is fine, but I would like more time spent on the aftermath of Sakura "fixing" things.

A good and satisfying ending to the overall series. I really appreciated that this time things didn’t just reset or go back to the beginning. The characters actually moved forward, and important revelations weren’t forgotten or brushed aside.
And of course, Sakura and Syaoran, together. Forever.

P.S. We need some special episodes or side stories where they visit Syaoran’s mom and family. Seriously. Precious.

A nice ending overall, soured by the fact that it feels like we could have gotten to this point a lot quicker after volumes and volumes of not very much happening. It was nice to see everyone from across the series and the original come together for the final 'battle' as it were, and the ultimate reasoning for the story is sound, but I think I was really just glad to see this come to an end.

I did it!!! I finished the series!!!

This series was really frustrating and maddening. I would have liked to have seen a progression in the relationships. Like, sure, Toya and Yuki know about each other, and Toya and his dad seem to hint at magic, but I really would have liked to have seen a deepening of Sakura's relationship to her brother, and their secrets being out in the open.

Perfect ending for a perfect arc.

This manga has been trolling me half the time with it's lack of a plot. Kinda like Fruits Basket

The gorgeous old school art is its saving grace
