The height of this volume is Flash War. Williamson finally gets to use Wally West, and that means that he finally gets to pay out the storyline of Rebirth. It's made all the better by his decision to reuse Zoloman, integrating him into New52/Rebirth continuity. And even cooler is his decision to mix in the original Zoom. It's a totally dreamy arc in the best way possible, and it gives Williamson the opportunity to repair a lot of the editorial interference that made the New52 so horrible.
So of course editorial immediately interferes, yanking Wally away to be used in Heroes in Crisis, even though Tom King didn't ask for it. (He told editorial to give him some characters to use, and they grabbed a character that was blowing the covers off a title right then!) So much of Williamson's work is immediately thrown into the trash along with Wally West (for the moment). Sigh.
The new forces introduced by the Flash War are pretty cool. It's nice to see someone _finally_ expanding what Waid did decades previous now. I thought they were a little repetitive when I read the singleton trades, but as a whole they make for a better storyline.
Overall, Williamson's work continues to be "A" grade. Not quite a Waid or a Johns, but a strong third member of the pantheon.
Sad that there's just one more volume, as Flash has been pretty rocky since Williamson's departure.
