They have given Duncan free reign, but in the end will Duncan be able to retain his throne?
Tahoe Blues was a page turner! Couldn't put it down! Aubree Lane has a gift with words. Cara is an independent woman trying to figure out who framed her! Will she figure out who? Can she trust Duncan, the man she is falling for!?! This book is suspenseful and epic!
Aubree Lane does it again. This is a wonderful mixture of romance, suspense and mystery. Tahoe Blues keeps you guessing until the end, the twist that are thrown at you only make you more eager to solve who set Cara up? Who can she trust? Tahoe Blues is great book worth the time to buy and read. Don't miss out on the chance to read this, you won't regret adding it to your library.
Tahoe Blues is another incredibly awesome book by Aubree Lane. It's suspenseful, romantic, a mystery to solve, and great characters. I love the way the story melds together everything in a seamless storyline that ties it all together in a pretty bow at the end.
Cara is a biology professor married to a sexy casino owner who's a cheating dog of a husband. When she divorces him after a big fundraising gala she finds herself being accused of embezzling funds from the proceeds. TJ is the hot maintenance man for her building, but he's not just a tool man he's also the very wealthy owner of the building and a contributor to her fundraising cause. With an interesting cast of friends they solve who really stole the money and free Cara. Will this stress of the accusation cause the budding romance between TJ and Cara to end before it gets a chance or will their bond be stronger in the end?
) This story has it all! Mystery, romance, intrigue and twist after twist, and I just kept changing my mind about what I thought was really going on...I know that rich influential families tend to have their fingers in a lot of pies and their hands in a lot of pockets, but I didn't even see this coming. This large cast of characters are all well developed and the story really moves along and flows steady, never lulls, so it keeps you just a little off balance as to what the end game truly is for some of the players who, each with their own agenda, end up all on the same side, or do they? You'll have to make up your own mind, because I thought it was all good in the end, right up to the last few sentences, then, wham ! Not so much..... Really, Really Well Done.
Awesome book!!! ITa a amazing read!!!! I dont give away the story.... SO!!!! Dont miss this book!!! BUY AND READ IT!!!! You will love it!!!! Thanks Aubree Lane....for another exciting READ!!!
Tahoe Blues is a winner! The writing is terrific, the pace is perfect, and the characters are a combination funny, acerbic, witty, weird, paranoid, lovable, and detestable; and all play their parts perfectly in this well-developed story by Aubree Lane. Cara has finally divorced her wealthy, top-of-the-social-heap philandering husband, Duncan Alexander, and is looking forward to starting her new life as unmarried woman Cara Greene. She has a strong launch, because she is much more than a socialite wife. She is an accomplished professor who is invested in the ecological health of Lake Tahoe. The author does a great job of sharing interesting facts about the Lake and surrounding area, enough so that we feel we learned something but we did not feel as if we were sitting in one of Cara's lectures. Her new and sizzling romance with Tanner (hot, hot, hot!), her fledgling friendship with best friend Leah, and her contemptuous relationship with most of her ex-husband's family, all combine to give us delicious drama. Add to that the mystery of missing funds from a gala, the accusation of Cara for same, and a band of friends and two slightly oddball private eyes who are searching for the truth, and you have a book that that keeps you turning the pages until the immensely satisfying conclusion. Definitely worthy of a five-star rating!
I received this book for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. The premise is unique and captivating. The characters are unique and intriguing. The entire story was suspenseful and so much fun to read. There is humor and mystery along with a budding romance. Cara is a smart and well developed main character. She learns a lot about herself throughout the book and by the end the reader is impressed with her journey. The dialogue amongst the characters is fantastic. It feels like a true conversation rather than a script. Aubree Lane is a creative and powerful story teller. I have read her previous works and this one is my most favorite. She knows her facts when building a character and makes her characters as real as possible. The story is plausible and realistic enough that even though it is fiction the imagination is not stretched into make believe. The reader is able to learn something from the book be it about biology and the environment or about human nature. This is one of my top books of the year!
I found this book very entertaining to read even though it was not a genre that I normally read. From start to finish there is a lot of hopping around, following the clues, people jumping in to help out and as always in the end there is always the evil plot twist.. nothing is as it seems to be and all heck is gonna break loose at some point. Cara is flighty at best but her hearts in the right place. She makes you want to strangle her with her quick crazy assumptions and over active imagination and how her boyfriend put up with her without shaking her at least once or twice is beyond me. But even with all that I still couldn't put this book down. I had to keep flipping the pages to find out what crazy stunt she was gonna pull next and where the next clues to the scandal were going to come from. This is a must read and you won't be disappointed in it.
Fantastic book with a lot of twists & turns throughout... there are a lot of characters to get your head around, but they are introduced well and they are real and likeable. I enjoyed the way the issues were resolved in the end and I loved the kick-ass grandma! Definitely worth a read.
First book by this Author, very entertaining story about Greed, love, honor and family. I found the characters intriguing, and the storyline interesting....a very good read!
Romance and Mystery run amuck with lots of history!

What did I like? Mysteries are my favorite genre of all and this one really ranks high. I enjoyed the pace of the book which kept me involved right to the last page. The characters were awesome and well developed. The story line was interspersed with lots of fun facts, now I don’t know if they were fact or fiction but I really liked the idea of them, believing that they might be. I think that my most favorite character this time was not the lead but one of the friends, Mrs. Grimes. Her background just made the story that much more intriguing.
What will you like? Action, mystery, romance, humor, history and a lot of fun reading. You can tell the author put a ton of research and thought into this storyline. It had everything and truly charming characters that were fun and enchanting. We always love to hate the bad guy and boy was this one ever a bad guy that was hateable!!!!! I for one was really shocked at the end who the ultimate bad guy was… it will blow you away. I checked many of the items that are called out in the book and the author did take a little leeway but many of the things talked about in the book are true. As was the fact that Frank Sinatra was a co-owner in one of the first casino’s, the Kennedy clan and Marilyn Monroe plus many other celebrities frequented the area. The prohibition-era smuggling tunnels beneath the property is also true. Later the mafia used those same tunnels to stay on the property and not be seen by the public. I remember reading about the tunnels years ago and this book joggled those old memories. It was interesting to me to look it all up again. I highly recommend this read as very entertaining and look forward to more from this author.
Cara Lee Greene cannot wait to have her divorce from the wealthy Duncan Alexander and her ex's family in her past. Her last commitment to this family is to host the gala for a big fundraiser to help clean up Lake Tahoe. A short time after the gala Cara Lee is brought in for possibly embezzling money from the fundraisers' account. Who is setting Cara Lee up is it her Ex, another member of the Alexader family, her new landlord, or one of her friends?
This story grabs you from the start and keeps you entertained throughout. There is something for everyone... from a suspenseful mystery to a budding romance. I really love the characters in this story; the characters are complexed and interesting. One of my favorite characters is Cara Lee's elderly next-door neighbor Mrs. Grimes. Mrs. Grimes is a spunky old lady who knows a lot about the Alexander family's history and their criminal activity of the past. I laughed out loud several times during Mrs. Grimes, Lisa, and T.J.'s investigation. Cara Lee is a smart lady but while under investigation she lets her imagination run away a few times on who might have set her up, but in her shoes, we might all do just that. T.J. is a wonderful chose of a boyfriend, especially after her womanizing Ex-husband Duncan. The setting of Tahoe and the casino is a great addition bringing in the family's corrupt past as an explanation for why Cara Lee is being framed. The mystery is full of twists and turns keeping you guessing until the end.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The Narrator Sandra Parker was wonderful in bringing the story to life. She was great with accents, pace, and comedic timing. Overall a great bonus to an already great reading experience.
I would definitely recommend this book, especially to mystery lovers. I was provided with a copy of this book in hopes I would review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way influenced by others.
In “Tahoe Blues”, Aubree Lane provides a pleasant diversion for readers of multiple genres. x “Romance”? Cara Lee Greene been cheated on for the last time – it doesn’t matter HOW rich and influential Duncan Alexander and his family are; THIS well-endowed blackjack dealer he’s bedded is the last straw! And is she ready to face the good looking handyman at her new apartment? x “Chick-lit”? Cara and her best friend Leah have to deal with the aftermath of her separation, and the strain that her married life left on their friendship – and on Leah’s business. x “Mystery”? Cara – and of course, the readers – know that she couldn’t have embezzled the money from the fundraising gala. So, who DID? Toss in a couple of extra sub-plots, mix together a collection of characters, and you have an entertaining novel.
RATING: Four and ½ stars, rounded down to Four Stars where ½ stars are not permitted
DISCLOSURE: I received a free copy of this novel in return for an honest (yep) and prompt (maybe – if 90 to 120 days is considered “prompt”) review.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book you will meet many characters however Cara Lee Greene. Through-out this book we find her learning what it means to be a friend and have your friends stand by you when you need them the most. She has just gone through a divorce and is accused of embezzling money from the charity that she works every year. Due to her divorce this is the last year she will be working the gala for them. Can she hold it together long enough to clear her name and get her life back or will this be the slowest new life exploration ever?
This is an amazing story. It has love, mystery and intrigue. There are ups and downs I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will hook you from the first word and not let go till the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Wasn’t sure I wanted to read this with a cheating husband scenario but it really was more about the wife moving on with her life. Started very interestingly but failed to keep up the pace. Just seemed to scattered. Felt it was going all over the place at times in directions I was not interested in. The best friend was weird and seemed desperately man hungry. The ending was at times humerous but I had sort of worked out what was going on with the fraud but the relationships amongst the others seemed to be going everywhere. The actual ending I found strange but it must be leaving it open to another book. May or may not pick up the next book. If it is about that waste of space husband, then I will not read it.
This book had a great mix of romance, mystery and definitely suspense as I tried to figure out who had set Cara up. I couldn't put it down and the twist(s) were really good. I would love to read more in this series - "Hint, Hint!" I thought there were great characters, plot and fun parts and some funny parts that makes for a great read in my book. (Pun Intended) The Authors Motto for writing that I switched up for readers - Read until your butts hurt and your eyes are crossed. Another one of My Thoughts - This is a book to do that with, Great Job. I can't wait to read more.
I loved this book! Start to finish exciting reading. So much mystery and intrigue, and quite a few laugh out loud moments. When your world is crashing down around you, and you can't trust the people closest to you, what do you do? I started reading this book, and couldn't put it down until I finished. Well worth the read!
This is a fabulous story! There is sooo much going on you can't stop turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next! Aubree Lane does a great job mixing romance, mystery, action, and suspense. You are going to want more!!
Easy read and a fun little story. A bit slow in places but the descriptions are clear and interesting. I thought there were a few too many characters that were introduced and then ignored though

I – and 9 other members of Lane’s Lunatics – was asked to read an ARC version of this book to post a review on it’s publication date (which may be a few days late as the poor editor had a medical mishap), so my copy was free, but my review is 100% my own opinion.
-
To begin with, the plot twists and turns in this book were completely unexpected. Everyone – and I do mean everyone – expects it to be the ex-husband. However, that isn’t the whole story by a long shot. There are so many U-turns in this book it blew my mind, and that’s what kept me reading it.
I’m a rough reviewer sometimes – sorry Aubree! – but I honestly didn’t like Cara too much. Keep in mind this might be fixed in the published copy, but Cara went irrational at the oddest times to me. I honestly thought she should have gotten irrational over some of the confrontations, and THEN thought through what the other party had said. Yet, she was almost self-reflective even when she shouldn’t have been at that stage yet. Also, the fact she didn’t notice Tanner’s hotness until he was in a tux at a fancy gala was a point against her to me. However, she did mention she thought she might have gotten snobby because of that too.
Tanner I did like, although I felt he should have played a tad more of role in the whole plot than ‘new boyfriend’ role he seemed to be stuck with. Although he had a tons going in his favor in trying to let Cara handle her problems without going alpha “I’ll fix everything for you, little lady” on her, which was very realistic for how I’d want to be treated in real life. In novels, I might have wished a tad more alpha into him.
Overall, good read! It might have been a better read for me if I had liked Cara more and there was a tad too much explanations of their thought processes, but with the complete surprises this book kept throwing at you, Honestly, while I had character issues, Aubree was a master at keeping me guessing! it’s well worth the read! 3.5 stars!
When I started off this book, I could see myself rating it higher. It began as a solid 4. I was instantly intrigued and thought I was in for a very enjoyable read.
Then I kept going. And while it did have its bright points, there were a few reasons why I never recovered that initial excitement.
Number one: this is a romance, woman scorned, mobster/mystery kind of read. I didn't want the ecology lesson. Yes, I get that Cara is an intelligent woman and she is environmentally minded, but I didn't enjoy the lecture on the water quality of the lake. Being preached to is something that turns me off, and I felt that here.
In regards to the sex scenes, there was one in particular that actually made me laugh. I don't think it was supposed to. But the whole "playing his instrument" vibe was too much for me to ignore. I didn't find it hot; I found it comical.
There were a few editing issues in this one, too. When I read, I can't help but notice them. In most cases, I'm forgiving. But when I read about how one of the PI's daughters was a "pour" teenager, I almost screamed at my Kindle and stopped reading.
But I continued on. The mystery in this one was handled pretty well and I did want to see how everyone was connected. I'm not going to say it was completely a WTF ending, but there were a lot of moving parts. It would be difficult to see everyone's role in the crime, even if you were paying close attention.
It appears as if this story will continue from the way the novel ends, but I'm not so certain that I will be along for the ride. Maybe if it goes on sale.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I actually give this book a 4.5 stars because it started out a bit slow for me. But, once the action started, I could not put it down and was turning page after page to see what happens and Who Dunnit so to speak.
After years of overlooking her husband's many affairs, Cara has finally decided she has had enough and is divorcing him. Her husband Duncan, a member of the Alexander family, the most powerful and influential family on Lake Tahoe, does what he can to keep her and then get her back.
Cara has starting building a new life for herself; She has sublet an apartment while she is figuring things out and has even found a new love interest.
Suddenly she is being arrested for a crime she did not commit, and then put on house arrest. She just KNOWS that Duncan is behind it. But then, everyone is looking suspicious.
Can Cara and her motley crew of friends figure out the Who, What, Where, When and Why of it all??
As I stated, it did start out a bit slow for me but it is DEFINITELY worth the read. The twists and turns definitely kept me guessing!!!
“Tahoe Blues” is a tightly written romantic mystery with a good sense of place. The reader is introduced to the Lake Tahoe Basin in a way that brings it into sharp focus without detracting from the story or the characters. As for the characters - Ms. Lane portrays them with warts, talents, flaws, virtues, and all the rest, like real people - making them come alive on the page. The romance is steamy, and the mystery is a real humdinger. It isn’t easy to keep me guessing, but this book had me stumped right up to the denouement. I also like the way it gains momentum as it builds the story; once you get to a certain point, you’re going to have a heck of a time trying to put it down. On a side note: it was fun to run into a couple of characters from “Early One Morning,” as well. Congratulations, Aubree Lane, on another winner.
What's not to like about this house of cards? You've got the beautiful tenacious Cara, the hot 'repair man' TJ, Mrs. Grimes, the Gladys Kravitz of the book and Duncan the whore mongering EX.. coupled with his dynasty family. What's not to love? There is mystery, sex, infidelity, humor and every other emotion. I loved how TJ and Cara interracted. LOOOVED the 'jeweled bracelet" Cara wore around her ankle (I'm not spilling spoilers..) and the sheer dynasty of the family....Aubree Lane takes us on a journey filled with emotion, infidelity, humor, suspense and redemption as only she can do.... Hang on for a hell of a ride! Tahoe Blues will make your poker face flush and be prepared for a Royal Flush! You won't regret this hand!!!
Cara Lee Greene Alexander has had enough of her husband's mistresses and life that doesn't include her so she is leaving the life of glitz behind and filing for divorce. Helping her recover from her divorce is Tanner Reed, a friend of her best friend Leah's.
But Duncan Alexander doesn't want Cara to leave and it looks like he will stop at nothing to get her back.
I really enjoyed this book and I loved how you didn't know who was really on which side. I also really liked Leah and her take on the friendship that she and Cara had together.
There was definitely lots of mystery surrounding the book and I really enjoyed it! Can't wait to read another one by Aubree Lane soon!
Intriguing! Romance, suspense and some unexpected twists make for another enjoyable story from Ms Lane. This book will keep you guessing throughout, which makes it an absolute page turner. Although I prefer clean romance books I enjoy Aubree Lane's writing style and haven't been at all disappointed with any of her stories. TJ will steal your heart and you will root for Cara as she struggles to figure out who is responsible. I definitely recommend this one.
