Baka sakali…

Book Review: Baka Sakali Trilogy (Baka Sakali 1-3) by Jonaxx
Synopsis:
"Ang pag-ibig ay parang nagsusugal. Pag sigurado kang mahal mo ang tao, ibibigay mo ang lahat. Ang problema dito ay di mo alam kung may maibabalik pa ba sayo o wala. Maswerte ang nakakakuha ng higit pa sa inaasahan, pero luhaan ang mga sumugal at natalo. Pero ganun paman, tulad ng sugal, kahit walang kasiguraduhan, marami paring umiibig, marami paring sumusugal. Dahil... Baka Sakali... Baka Sakali..." I have read this series in three days (or was it four?) and I just finished it yesterday. I have decided to postpone reading any Wattpad stories from this author since I am not yet finished with Until Forever (Until Book #3) and it has been weeks since I last read a chapter from that story.
Anyway, I decided to read this since I've caught up with the stories that I have been reading lately.
This was another great read from Jonaxx. I liked this story not just because of the romance but because of the humour and the slice of reality. I can say that I can relate to the main character Rosie in a way. I'll be honest that I'm not really a fan of the province probably because I'm a city girl. But unlike Rosie, I'm not a 'matapobre'. Also, that part with trusting others is also a thing I can relate with.
I think that the love story of Jacob and Rosie was the cute high school love story and they were so adorable. Jacob is totally goals! A guy who's totally in love with you, has a good voice, rich, plays basketball, handsome, and has sparkling abs. What else would you want?
But too much of something is a bad thing. Jacob's love for Rosie was toxic for their relationship. I think Rosie was too 'nasasakal' in their relationship. Jacob has so many restrictions and overly protective (sometimes even when it's not necessary).
Rosie on the other hand, is a jealous girlfriend. She's the what-if kind of girlfriend. She's overthinking things. She needs to trust Jacob and stop doubting his love for her.
The thing I dislike about this series is that the problems weren't that big of a deal at first. They could have talked those things out. They were a little immature in handling their problems. They tend to listen to their sides and stand firm on their decisions but at the end, they end up listening to each other's side. Also there were a lot of capitalization mistakes and grammar mistakers on the first book.
At the last book, I was really impressed at Rosie and Jacob. Their characters really grew, especially Jacob's. Rosie made the right decision and I'm proud of her for that.
Overall, I'm satisfied with how things ended but there were a few dragging scenes and the ending was a cliffhanger. Special chapter please?
Rating: 4 stars
Favorite Lines:
"Ako rin... ako rin, Rosie... bumibilis ang tibok ng puso ko 'pag nandyan ka. Kahit nakatingin lang ako sa'yo, naghuhuramentado na ko." -Jacob Antonio Buenaventura
"Ayoko talaga sa kasabihang yan! If we're meant to be, it will be? Kung tayo, tayo na ngayon! Simula na dapat ngayon! Hindi yang pinapaubaya natin sa tadhana ang lahat." -Jacob Antonio Buenaventura
"Change is constant. And no matter how hard we try to be constant, we really can't. We are bound to change. And sometimes... changing means falling apart." -Roseanne Aranjuez
The kind of love Jacob and Rosie have is intense, but also dangerous. It's the kind of love that, when it falls apart, leaves you with a heartbreaking ending. You end up thinking about first love, greatest love, and totga (the one that got away). It’s the kind of love that feels amazing, but is incredibly painful when it ends. Jacob is honest about his feelings, but in reality, we shouldn’t make our whole world revolve around another person. Relationships should be about being partners, not just about one person being everything. Even after all these years, I still love this story.
Yung klase ng love meron sila Jacob and Rosie are intense but dangerous. Mauuwi ka sa first love, greatest love and totga. Jacob is truthful on what he feels pero in reality of life hindi dapat natin gawing mundo yung other half natin more on dapat maging partner natin sila. Still love this story after so many years.
Read Book 2 in just one day. You can see Rosie’s growth, while Jacob becomes more sensitive to how Rosie might feel. There is still miscommunication but you can see that they are really trying to fix the problem. And oh wow Jacob! Hope that there’s still a guy who will be head over heels to you and will do everything just for you - but not in a possessive way. This book focuses more on their relationship and how they manage to overcome every challenge together.
There seems to be a character development kay Roseanne sa second book and she comes mature and little independent pero si Jacob mukang hindi. He grew maturer than the last time they met but his character and personality rather stayed the same. Hopefully in the book 3 magkaroon naman ng changes kay Jacob hindi yun puro pagiging seloso inaatupag charot!
A bit underwhelmed with this. But it's alright, since this is one of Queen J's earlier works. It shows how her writing has imrpoved; plot-wise and all. Still, all love.
Medyo na off ako kay Jacob dito.

Before anything else, I want to say sorry for being an MIA for almost a month. MIA? I know you didn’t notice that for I was still able to post some reviews lately eh? I’ve been MIA for almost 3 weeks now. I’ve been very busy at work and having said that, I’ve been into stress and because I am stress, that leads me into not on the mood for reading Let’s cut this chit chat for I know you are very eager about the book eh? Hehehe
Baka Sakali 1 is undeniably a great read and I still can’t move-on from the line “sparkling moreno abs”, hahaha. Well, in this one, it is different. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the book started really corny. The usual super exaggerated description is still there and I think it is more intense now. So sorry author, but I am starting to hate how the story goes (correction: how the story started, ehe). And to my horror, I am starting to find Jacob as a pervert (duh). Pervert in an annoying way and not in a funny way, (who would like that?). And about the character named Brandon, he sometimes sounded gay. Though I liked how this annoying and “full of air” in the head character become matured and was a great help to Rossie. (I think I love you na Brandon, hehe)
I think that summarizes my review about the book eh? Hehehe, sorry for this very short review, don’t worry, there’s still a third book, and I will make sure it would be long for you to drop your eyes because of reading it (ahhaha, this is what I call super exaggerated description) ;)
Final Thoughts: I know the stars I lit above aren’t that catchy. But maybe you’ll like it not the way I liked it (huwaaat?, did you get it? Because I don’t, haha!) Well, all I wanted to say is that even if I didn’t like it that much, I am still recommending you to read it ;)
