Darcy Sweet Mysteries #11

Resorting to Murder

Rate this book
Three days alone in a cabin in the mountains with her on-again, off-again—and now on-again—boyfriend Jon Tinker should have been perfect for Darcy Sweet.

What could possibly go wrong?

But as was so often the way with her life things didn't go exactly according to plan.

Their romantic mini vacation was thrown into turmoil when a stranger knocked on the door of their getaway cabin. Darcy was catapulted into a vision that indicated the person may not be quite who they were pretending to be.

Once again Darcy found herself caught up in a mystery. Would she be able to solve it before she became the next victim of a serial killer?

I have to be perfectly honest and say the only reason I came across this book was because I was looking for a mystery title that started with R for a reading challenge – the fact that I really enjoyed the story was an unexpected bonus and the discovery that there are quite a few in this series added to my delight. RESORTING TO MURDER is the 11th book in a series of 13, but I found that there was enough background information for me to work out relationships and paranormal talents without too many spoilers for when I go back and read the earlier ones. Bookshop owner Darcy and police detective Jon are spending the weekend together to sort out the future of their relationship. A knock on the door and they are plunged into a world of murderers, kidnappers and contract killers. With lots of twists and turns and a few red herrings the ‘baddy’ is eventually uncovered and brought to justice. A short book of just 100 pages it is well written with no superfluous waffle. A well-paced adventure that’s lots of fun, has a dash of suspense, and a chance to get to know the characters really well despite the size of the book – in fact the character development was better than some larger books I have read. I enjoyed the neighbour and hope she can return in future stories.

I have got the first book in the series ‘Death comes to town’ safely in my eReader so can go back and start at the beginning.

Loved it

Interesting story, Jon and Darcy never get a break, Always someone is murdering someone else and leaving Jon and Darcy to figure out what is going on. Of course there's always the help from Great aunt Millie and Smudge the cat. You'll really enjoy this story. So many deaths and so much mystery. But there's always a silver lining so enjoy. Until next time.

This one didn't really interest me all that much. I was so happy when her boyfriend left and not at all happy that he came back. I don't like him!

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

What's a romantic getaway without a mystery

Although Darcy is typically wrapped up in some sort of trouble this time it's different. Trouble knocks on her door almost immediately instead of her being led to it. I liked the hired killer gone straight character leaving Jon & Darcy to question what's right. My only issue is how did the bad guy know so easily that this woman was a hired hitman many years ago. I felt that portion was left too open and gave an unrealistic aspect to the story.

I love this series. Mystery, murder, and romance. I like the Jon and Darcy combination. Each book has a great mystery. I also love books with a paranormal twist to them. I have read 11 books in this series, off to get the twelfth one. Get this series you will be glad you did! :)

Super good reading

Never was much for paranormal books until I started these, now I realize what I have been missing. I have enjoyed these totally. They kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend these to anyone who likes to read a good book. No much scary stuff.

Murders at the Resort Actually

Another great Darcy Sweet Cozy Mystery. I really enjoy this series but it's pretty important that you read them in order. I accidentally missed this one and couldn't figure out where these couple of new characters had come from. Now I know.

Poor Darcy ..... so much for a quiet weekend away with her beau! This time sees Darcy & Jon trying to help their holiday neighbour (who's a contract killer) find her son ..... is a serial killer loose in the woods?
And don't forget the fist-pumping moment of surprise in the end! Entertaining read.

Interesting story

While there were a few holes in the story, this one was more mystery than paranormal. Still a nice, little read and good ending.

So much for weekends.

Darcy and Jon find themselves at the wrong end of a gun. That's by the person they are trying to help.

Good book

I really liked the story. It was interesting and good humored too. I did figure it out before the end. But that's okay.
