Shadows And Reflections

Rate this book
"The worst thing about loneliness is when you start to doubt if you're really alone."

Eva no longer trusts her own senses. Her reflection in the mirror doesn't move the way she does. She feels like someone is watching her when she's alone. Her world feels unreal.

Except for Adam333. He's there, a stranger on a paranormal forum who seems to know her all too well. He warns her not to talk to the Reflection, but Eva already has.

As reality cracks, Eva clings to Adam, even though she's not even sure he's real. Not all mirrors reflect what they should... and some hold secrets that shouldn't be revealed.

If the Reflection stares back... how do you know it's still you?

Honest review! I’ll start with likes/strong points in the book and move onto some things I wasn’t a fan of/could use some work! No Spoilers!!

Positive -

The book truly does have the creepy vibe to it. Even starting in early chapters, the character development and plot was building. As someone who already hates mirrors and reading at 4 am, it struck a chord for the nerves. I didn’t hate the book and it was decent between larger books, this one only being around 200 pages. The ending was pretty good. Overall, it’s a decent book and I’m glad I read it.

Could use some work -

Again, I didn’t hate the book. I do feel like in an overall sense, the book needs a lot of work. I found the chapters to be long and repetitive with a lot of the same point/phrasing being used over and over. The plot also seemed to jump a lot in a way where there really wasn’t plot twists, more it felt like a new line was starting. I really feel as if the author could benefit from having ARC readers to be able to fill the missing parts and help the books transition from good, to great, to leaving you stunned at the end. I’m not too sure how old the author is, but the writing felt a bit more like a Wattpad short story book from 2015.

________

I’ve always viewed book reviews as a chance for the author (myself included) to take and make a learning experience. Would I rate this book a 5? No because I didn’t feel it hit a lot of marks. Was it a 1? Also no, because the effort, time, and passion was there. I truly hope to see this author grow overtime and progress with their writing. Maybe creative writing classes, bringing in editors/ARC readers to help their stories build instead of jump around and flatten out any mistakes, or even writing strength as time goes on. Please never lose your passion for writing as we will always have another Kardashian popping up, what we truly need is more authors to transport all of us into little worlds that only beautiful minds can create.

__________

1. Did the book meet my expectations? - it was there, I just wish there was something more and more editing.

2. Would I recommend to others? - I wouldn’t try and stop anyone from reading this book and would still tell them to read it, I would however warn that if they loathe mistakes and not a solid foundation to maybe skip.

3. What do I want to see more of from the author? - I would like to see the author grow over time and develop stronger writing skills. We don’t need more big name authors, Indi authors are the ones who create the most beautiful stories.

Reply to the author: i posted in a kindle face book page no smut, terrifying books. I was home sick and this was the quickest read listed. at first it was really interesting giving “ 1408 “ vibes with Adam i was thinking he wasn’t really there and just a mirage from the darkness in that apartment I new it was going to be a quick read so lots of information fast but I needed more information about Eva’s “ creation “ the coffee shop and her laps in memories, the ended didn’t seem to fit the theme of the book very metaphorical and insightful and didn’t match the feeling of Eva’s voice through out the book. I felt like I could match the story line to different popular movies and it wasn’t a new story. There were also a few typos , and some sentences were in Spanish.

Story too drawn out for me

The writing was good but I felt the story was a little long and dragged on. I would read this author again.
