Hands Down The Best F1 Romance Book I’ve Ever Read!

I usually do not enjoy slow burn and closed door romance books but this book was so delightful that I really didn’t mind. This had a good balance between FI racing and romance.

Nicky was a sweetheart at times and a gentleman by ensuring Cherry was always protected and cared for. I loved watching their relationship blossom and grow. The scenes in Japan, Kyoto were memorable. (one of my favourite places on earth)

This was a wholesome read and gave the cute cozy romance vibes.

Immediate dnf when I read on like page 5 that the MMC REMEMBERS when the FMC was BORN??? I don’t mind an age gap if done right, but you’re telling me that he was eight and got to see his best friends little sister right after being born and he still fell in love with her later?? After seeing her as a baby? I’m sorry but that’s just gross

Thank you for the chance to be apart of your ARC team Belinda. All opinions are my own.
I liked formula 1 before this book but haven’t watched it for a while, I think I might have to start watching again.
If you like either sports romances, brothers best friend, grumpy x sunshine, dual POV, slight age gap and closed door romance tropes this is a book you should consider reading. I loved Nicky, he is a gorgeous human inside and out. Cherry annoyed me at times, possibly because she was 8 years younger than Nicky. Cherry had also been through a bad break up (I hate Troy). I loved that Nicky took care of Cherry and wish Cherry would have talked things over before rushing to rash decisions. There were some laugh out loud moments and likeable minor characters. A good book to read. Once again thank you Belinda.

More 4 1/2🌟 What a cute wholesome F1 romance! Away We Go features Nicky and Cherry and is a brother’s best friend romance. Nicky a champion F1 driver hires Cherry to work on his social media team after Cherry suffers a bad breakup. This story takes you a F1 journey around the world as two people realise they have feelings for each other. I really enjoyed this one and I adore the way Belinda writes. This one has some great tropes like grumpy/sunshine, age gap and he falls first while being taken around the world in a F1 season. A great wholesome story. I received a complementary copy from the author.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Away We Go by Belinda Mary, and I’m so glad I did!

F1 world champion Nicky Dimitrios hasn’t seen his best friend’s little sister, Cherry, since her 21st birthday party—when he noticed she’d grown into a beautiful, confident woman. Years later, Cherry is recovering from a toxic breakup and struggling with self-esteem when Nicky is asked to bring her onto his social media team. Sparks fly as they reconnect, navigating the challenges of fame, public attention, and long-simmering feelings.

As a first-time reader of Belinda Mary’s work, I went in with no expectations—and was pleasantly surprised. This was a wonderfully cosy, closed-door romance that kept me feeling warm and fuzzy throughout. I especially loved how the story focused on friendship and emotional growth, not just romance. Nicky’s protectiveness toward Cherry was touching, and I appreciated that their relationship developed independently of her brother.

One standout for me was the character of James, Nicky’s security guard. He added charm and humor, and it was fun seeing him quietly champion the couple in the background—he felt like a stand-in for the reader, cheering them on.

I also really appreciated that the central conflict didn’t rely on miscommunication—a trope that can feel frustrating. Instead, the emotional stakes felt believable and grounded.

That said, there were a couple of elements that didn’t quite land for me. The backstory involving Cherry’s toxic ex felt a little clunky. It was mostly delivered through passing comments and comparisons, which told rather than showed the impact on her self-confidence. A more developed emotional thread or flashback could’ve added depth. Also, the early repetition of Cherry being a redhead—mentioned three times in the first chapter—stood out, though it was handled more naturally in the rest of the book.

Overall, I really enjoyed this light-hearted, heartwarming romance. It left me smiling, and I’m excited to dive into more books by Belinda Mary!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As a huge F1 fan, Away We Go had me hooked right from the start. The racing world backdrop was everything. Full of adrenaline, glamour, and just enough drama to keep me completely locked in. Anything F1 instantly gets my attention, and this book did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed both of the main characters. Cherry was so sweet, relatable, and easy to root for. Her vulnerability felt real, and I loved watching her come into her own. And Nicky? Protective, charming, and seriously hot, the way he cared for Cherry had me melting. Watching their friendship slowly evolve into something deeper was such a joy. It felt natural and full of chemistry.

The side characters were another highlight for me. Serena was the kind of friend everyone deserves loyal, supportive, and so much fun. And James had me laughing out loud with his older-brother energy and perfectly timed humor. Their presence added so much warmth and personality to the story.

This was my first time reading anything by Belinda Mary, but it definitely won’t be my last. Away We Go is a swoony, feel-good romance with heart, humor, and just the right dose of high-speed excitement. Highly recommend to romance lovers, F1 fans, or anyone looking for a book that feels like a warm hug with a fast engine.

I really don't know where Belinda gets it from but Away We Go really was the perfect mix between heart-fluttering romance, slow burn angst and all the banter in-between.

The writing was honestly seamless, I couldn't fault it and I just couldn't put it down. With some of my favourite tropes making an appearance it was great.

🏁 slow burn
🏎️ F1 racing
🏁 grumpy x sunshine
🏎️ brothers best friend
🏁 forced proximity
🏎️ he falls first
🏁 closed door romance

Honourable mentions for Serena in this one because I absolutely loved her. The way the friendships bloomed alongside the main story line was ** chefs kiss **

Okay so I got to be an ARC reader for this in return my honest review and you know I hate to spoil books …so here goes.
This was my first Belinda Mary read and I have to say it will not be my last!

Nicky is a world champion F1 driver who has ice running through his veins when he drives. He’s is consumed by all things that will get him the win… that is until a friend ask a favor.

Cherry is the younger sister of Matt, who happens to be Nicky’s best friend… more like brother. Shes on the mend when we meet her. She has just come out of a relationship where that lil 🤬 broke her down mentally/emotionally. Now I tell you the things this woman goes through we all can relate too. In some form or another we have all had people treat us like this 🤬. Maybe it was a family member, ex-friend, social media… but we can understand the toll it takes and why it isnt an easy fix.

After her brother asked his friend a favor Cherry is getting the chance to do the dream job! Travel all over the world, take photos and run the social media for a world champion racer… I mean Hello…. Dream Job Accepted!

But this story is t only about the two on the cover. I love that Belinda creates a whole family within the F1 team and she doesn’t skimp on the actually racing! It’s not something that falls to the background of the story its upfront and I loved it!
I hate when books give a cool job or hobby to someone and then it lays in the back of your mind cause the “love story” takes over and it never really shows you them doing it…. Yeah thats not this book😉

This was so well written and felt very real. Books are not always about escaping reality its also about seeing the world, love, relationships, dealing with trauma and more through another’s eyes. It’s about connecting with something and no matter how big or small making an impact.

This book definitely does that!

Its so well rounded and Im hoping there is more to this story cause Id love to see Nate and his journey back, James is too amazing not to have a special someone and Serena and Patrick and Tanya (who is seriously the greatest friend) and… well listen Miss Belinda Mary we need more of this family’s story!

Away We Go is a sweet, adorable closed door F1 romance from one of my favorites Belinda Mary. I absolutely adored the way she set up this new book, the way she built up the F1 world and environment. The descriptions were so vivid and accurate, I felt like I was on the track with them. The storyline was cute with some bumps along the road to make it more exciting.

Nicky was an absolute sweetheart, he was such a great guy. Cherry, I won't lie I did have a harder time warming up to her, but she did end up experiencing growth which I really appreciated. She is also 8 years younger than Nicky so sometimes she did come off as a little immature, but it all paid off in the end. I enjoyed how their relationship grew and evolved.

Overall, this was a sweet and wholesome read that is definitely worth the read especially for F1 and closed romance lovers.

✨️Thank you to @belindamary for my gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first F1 romance that I've ever read, and it won't be the last! This story was so sweet and utterly relatable, with the relationship that Cherry just got out of and how it caused her to react within this new budding romance. I loved seeing how she dealt with everything and how her romance started to bloom.

I'll definitely be reading more from Belinda Mary and this was such a good book to start out with!

I was lucky enough to receive this as part of the ARC team, all opinions are my own.

I really wanted to like this more, honestly but something just felt off to me? It was a cute little love story but the slow burn was definitely dragged out too much for my liking ( that’s not to say it’s not bad just not my style) I also couldn’t understand why her name was spelt both Cherry and Cherie? Apart from that I enjoyed it for the most part. I wish we had seen Monaco tho

first of all I want to thank Belinda for giving me this ARC! She doesn't disappoin me ever!
In this book we found as main character Nicky which is a 4 times Champioms of formula 1 driver and Cherry.
After a break up, thanks to his brother, Cherry starts to work in social media team of Nicky, she follows him and his entourage all around the world because of the races he is in.
Cherry and Nicky know each other since they are children that's why it comes to Nicky to protect Cherry but the truth is that deep inside, he cares for a reason.
The two of them because close to each other and eventually slowly fall in love!
I loved how Nicky is so caring of Cherry! he is such a cutie and good man a green flag of course! As for Cherry I love her naive trait and also apprecciate that Belinda gave her also some flaw especially in the last part.
I read this story in 3 days because of the lovely vibes it has, it was my comfort cozy and light read I enjoy it a lot reading! I cannot wait what Belinda will have give us next!

I really love this romance, this book enchanted me from the first pages, I was more and more curious page after page. I really liked the writing and the story didn't bore me at all. This book made me want to be in a relationship even more lol

As for the characters, I really loved Cherry. Her insecurities, her purity and her simplicity. I saw myself so much in her character and I loved how she faced the "voices" in her head that made her feel wrong, very close to reality. A character like Cherry can sometimes not be fully understood at the beginning. Getting out of a toxic relationship is not easy at all, I appreciated that in the end there was a desire to test yourself and love again.

Nicky is back in my favorite mmc, his empathy, his sweetness and his protection towards Cherry right from the start was what pushed me to continue the book.

This is the first book I've read by this author, I want to catch up on the others as soon as possible. Thank you for accepting me in your arc team

F1 romance?? YES PLEASE

Nicky is a F1 driver and Cherry’s brother’s best friend! They’ve known each other since literally forever. After going through a complicated relationship and breakup, Cherry starts working for Nicky as a photographer, hoping to find her spark again

Nicky and Cherry were adorable! Nicky is a green flag character, just as I like them 🤭 this man was OBSESSED with Cherry and was ready to do just about anything to make her smile!! Cherry is an absolute sweetheart and I loved seeing her getting her HEA after everything she went through

The F1 scenes were everything! They were really immersive and reallyyyyy exciting. It felt like I was there with the characters, rooting for Nicky.

Belinda’s writing was as addicting as always and it’s always a pleasure to read her books 🤍

If you like formula 1 romances, brother’s best friend, forced proximity and age gap then you should definitely read away we go!!

This book!! Well, it was the first book I have read by this author and definitely not the last. I absolutely adored Cherry and Nicky's story from start to finish and did not want it to end (although I will say that it finished with a satisfying ending...I just didn't want to say goodbye to these characters yet).

I loved the way these two were drawn to each other but both held back for various reasons, including that Nicky is Cherry's big brother's best friend, there is an eight year age gap, there is intense media scrutiny, etc.

Nicky and Cherry were both pining for each other, even though Cherry didn't think it was possible that Nicky would want her. She struggled with low self esteem throughout the book due to her previous toxic relationship. It was something that had a big impact on her relationship with Nicky, too, but I loved how much he cared for Cherry and his patience with her always.

This story made me happy from start to finish and I know it is one I will reread again and again. I am also excited that there is another book coming out that will be about Nathan, one of Nicky's fellow F1 racing rivals who is also a friend of his.

(This story is closed door, with intimacy between the characters that takes place off the page.)

4⭐️ ARC Review: Finally a closed-door F1 romance! I've wanted to read a Fl romance for ages, and this one did not disappoint. It was so fresh and new and exciting for me!

Nicky and Cherry were both very lovable characters. Nicky being absolutely gone for Cherry from the beginning had me smiling from ear to ear. He did some of the sweetest things for her. Who knew someone doing the chicken dance could be one of the most romantic things ever. I didn't! But it very much was!

I enjoyed the plot, the pace, it was all well done.
They traveled so much and were in different settings so l was never bored. I really couldn't help but be happy while reading this book. We need more F1 romance!

"It's lights out and away we go!"

First off, I want to thank Belinda Mary, the author of Away We Go, for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC before its June 11 publish date. As someone who loves a good sports romance, this book was my introduction into the Formula 1 world. And, after reading this book, I'm waving that checkered flag and ready for more!

Away We Go is about two childhood friends, Cherry and Nicky, who try to navigate the F1 world and their feelings for one another. As things heat up on the race circuit, so does their relationship. With Nicky being a global superstar, the two must work through the complexities of his world while Cherry tries to push away her own insecurities rooted from a past toxic relationship.

The book never took its foot off the gas and I thoroughly enjoyed how fast-paced it was. As my first foray into a F1 romance, I loved how the book was divided into sections based on each race location. It helped me understand the pacing of an F1 season and created a more realistic pacing of Cherry and Nicky's relationship. A full season, which spans over almost an entire year, is so hectic that it makes sense why the romance would be slower to develop. We love a good slow burn over here!

Like many romance books, it had its fair share of drama, but it made sense in the world they're in. Nicky's fame meant a zero privacy and media scrutiny, which naturally caused moments of tension and insecurity. Cherry was also clearly still dealing with the emotional abuse from her past relationship. Without giving away too much, I liked how the story eventually allowed her to have a proper revelation that she hadn't fully healed from her past, which was holding her back from her future.

The lighter moments between these two were fun and sweet to read. It was funny how awkward they both could be around each other - constantly blurting out their inner thoughts accidetally. As a Bravoholic, I appreciated all the Bravo show references, including "Scandoval". When Cherry and Nicky were on a yacht and she kept mentioning Below Deck, it not only made me laugh, but also made her more relatable in such a luxurious setting. Their back and forth flirty text messages were entertaining to read and offered another perspective on their connection.

The dual POV throughout the book was definitely important. While it's obvious to the reader (and the secondary characters) that Cherry and Nicky are falling for each other, the dual POV offered reasons for why they each had doubts about the other person's feelings. It also offered a view of the F1 world through the lens of the driver (Nicky) and the spectactor (Cherry).

As mentioned, this is a slow burn romance, but is also a closed door one. On a spice level scale, I would give it a 1 out of 5 peppers, which is great for those who prefer a romance novel with minimal to no spice. It is important to mention that this is also an age gap romance, with the two characters being eight years apart. That being said, I felt it was approached carefully and thoughtfully in the storyline.

As an avid sports romance reader, I always appreciate when writers actually include moments or elements of the sport (i.e. what an actual race day is like) instead of having it as simply a backdrop for the characters. Belinda Mary thoughtfully intertwined the F1 world with Cherry and Nicky's story. I could visualize the busy crowds, the feeling of holding your breath as a race is about to start and hear the sound of the cars whizzing by on the track.

I really did enjoy my time reading Away We Go. From the moment I started, I couldn't put it down and finished it in record time. I even enjoyed reading Belinda's "Acknowledgements" at the end where she explained why she wrote a romance book in the Formula 1 world. My overall rating for this book is a 4.3 out of 5 stars!

It was my first F1 romance and I had a lot of fun reading this book!😍 as one of the F1 fans, this book was definitely not disappointing, a cute and sweet story with the nuance of the F1 setting and exhilaration of the F1 races! this book brings the reader into the world of F1 very well, this book is packaged in a sweet and interesting way, the author did such a wonderful job explaining the nuances and F1 elements. the story and characters are relatable and believable; Cherry was awesome at her job and Nicky was such a sweetie and all the little things he did for Cherry was precious✨ when I read that Nicky's nickname is 'the ice man'—who rarely deigns to give a full laugh or smile, it immediately reminded me of one of my favorite racers, Kimi Raikkonen. and as a childhood friends, Nicky and Cherry also have a great chemistry; I love how their relationship progressed! I understand Cherry's feelings of insecurity amidst the glittering world of celebrity, where she is in a relationship with a top racer and more after being in a toxic relationship for years...but I'm glad this book went without any ugly miscommunications or third act breakups. overall, I really loved this story and definitely would recommend it to everyone especially if you’re an F1 fan. highly recommended!✨

ARC Review
📸 Away We Go by Belinda Mary
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Release Date: June 11, 2025

Belinda Mary delivers a heartwarming, feel-good Formula 1 romance that’s equal parts swoon-worthy and empowering in Away We Go. Set against the high-speed, high-glamour backdrop of the F1 world, this is the story of Cherry Brenner—a woman determined to reclaim her confidence and start anew after walking away from a toxic relationship.

Cherry lands a dream job as a photographer for one of the top F1 teams, thanks in part to her brother’s connections—but make no mistake, she’s got the talent to back it up. Focused, determined, and trying her best to keep things professional, there’s just one complication: Nicky Dimitrios.

Nicky is charming, protective, and dangerously irresistible—and he’s also her brother’s best friend. A long-time crush of Cherry’s, Nicky has always kept things platonic… until now. Being on the road together, race after race, makes it harder for him to ignore what’s been building between them. The chemistry is undeniable, and their slow-burn romance simmers with tension, laughter, and genuine affection.

This book gave me everything I love in a closed-door romance: sharp banter, real emotional growth, and a steady transition from friendship to something deeper. Cherry is easy to root for—her vulnerability and strength are written so authentically. And Nicky? He’s the kind of book boyfriend who’ll make your heart race faster than any F1 car.

The supporting cast adds even more charm. Serena is the ultimate hype-woman and boss—supportive, smart, and a true friend. James, Nicky’s bodyguard, brings comic relief and emotional support in equal measure. These characters help create a found-family vibe that makes the story all the more satisfying.

Tropes include:
• Brother’s best friend
• Grumpy/sunshine
• Age gap
• Friends to lovers
• Forced proximity
• “He falls first”

Away We Go is a wholesome, romantic ride that’s equal parts fun and heartfelt. If you’re a fan of slow burns, charming characters, or anything set in the thrilling world of Formula 1, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR.

Huge thanks to the author for the advanced copy—this review is my honest opinion.

“And I like seeing my name on your shirt.”

Cherry is looking for a fresh start after a bad breakup and takes a job as a photographer for an F1 driver, who happens to be a world champion, her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush, Nicky. (TW: hospital, narcotics, past emotional abuse)

This was my first F1 read. I knew nothing about F1 before this book and I didn’t feel lost or confused. The pacing was great and I loved visiting all the different cities. Cherry is adorable and Nicky is the perfect broody athlete that only lights up around her. Cherry’s self doubt struggle due to a past toxic relationship was so beautifully written throughout the book. The banter and tension were TOP TIER. Their chemistry jumped off the pages. This is how you write a slow burn! It was so swoony and sweet and I giggled once or twice. Okay fine, I was absolutely giddy at times. 🤭 This is my first book by this author and I loved her writing style. It reminded me so much of Meg Cabot and Lynn Painter.

🚨 spoilers
-this is not the typical “brother’s best friend” dynamic because instead of being defensive and against the idea, the brother is rooting for them and being a wingman because he knows Nicky is such a good guy! And it was a nice spin on the dynamic.
-Is this a series? HOLY MOLY I want to know what happens in the next season!! I want to know about Nate and his emotional comeback. I want a Serena book and a James book pretty please!?
-UGH. 🫣 chapter 18 “He’s got white hair and glasses and looks like an actual doctor.” What?? This cost me a star because it totally RUINED the vibe. This is sexism. It’s not the character because Cherry hasn’t been sexist prior to this point and is aware of sexism in chapter 16 she mentions people “wondering if I got this job because I’m sleeping with the boss.”

🌸Away we go🌸

What a sweet story! I absolutly loved this story. I was allowed to read this book as a review copy and I am really happy that I was allowed to read this book. This is the first book I read about Formula 1 and despite the fact that I have never watched Formula 1, I understand the hype. You could feel the tension throughout the book and even I was hoping that he would win the race.

Their storyline, the chemistry, the build-up were all great. The book is nicely written, I had to get used to the Australian theme for a while, but soon I didn't notice that anymore. Nicky and Cherry were great together, because of the nice build-up you could get to know them well and they really got a place in my heart. I loved that you also read about the free time they had woth eachother and apart. I was an amazing book I was allowed to read!

Cherry Brenner is just out of a toxic relationship. Her brother’s best friend is a Formula 1 driver, and he gets her a social media job with him. Nicky is a Formula 1 World Champion. They have always been like brother and sister.. right? But now they are grown up and looking at each other differently. As the season heats up, so do these two. But the world of Formula is not for the weak of heart. Can Cherry handle it? Can their relationship withstand it? Or are they destined to crash and burn?

I have been reading Belinda Mary for quite some time. I have read her Love Always series. To read follow this author and see the growth from the first book I’ve read to this book has been quite a treat.

This book hit it out of the park! (I know, wrong sport, but I don’t know a F1 pun!). The connection that Mary created between Cherry and Nicky was amazing. I felt the pull between the two of them, I felt the yearning. I knew that each of the wanted to be together but were trying to figure out how to navigate this world. This book had me smiling SO much. Both of these characters were flirty, but Cherry was fantastically witty as well.

Nicky was very sweet. He wanted nothing more than to take care of Cherry and take care of her. I want a man like that! (I feel like these kinds of guys don’t exist in real life?). He always put her first. It seemed like he would put anyone else first, even if it hurt him.

This book is very swoon worthy. It’s a fantastic five star sports romance with brother’s best friend, grumpy sunshine, falling for the boss, close proximity, and closed door romance. It’s well written, and it will have you reading the whole thing in one day (I certainly did!). So make sure you read this one!
