The Enduring Word Study Bible is a New King James translation of Scripture with study notes, pastoral application notes, and substantial guides for use featuring the writings of David Guzik. Study notes based on Guzik’s commentary help you to explore the meaning of every chapter of the Bible. Pastoral application notes guide you to live in light of Scripture, and feature articles bring challenging topics into sharper focus.

Before digging into the Bible, however, I would encourage the reader to delve into the Introduction section. This offers the student a good explanation how to use this particular Bible to the greatest effect, while interpreting Old Testament and New Testament in the right ways, without confusion. At key points in the each Book, there are selected sections called “A Sharper Focus” where Guzik explains in much greater detail the meaning of a particular Scripture, and gives it context, tying it to other Books of the Bible.

One of the strengths of the Introduction is a section entitled “Getting to Know God” which, without being overly simplistic describes the necessary things to required to have, and maintain a saved relationship with God, His Son Jesus Christ, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit.
There are substantial commentaries for each page of Scripture which adds detail for those interested in a deeper dive into the Enduring Word, also.

At the end of the Scriptures, there is a separate Concordance with 3,500 words and over 9,200 lines of context within those words to add more substance to the reading. There is also a separate section of Old and New Testament historical maps

To summarize, The Enduring Word Study Bible is fine work for New King James Version afficionados, but is probably not for the new believer or the younger Bible reader, as the NKJV text is, perhaps, a little arcane in this day and age, and the verbiage of the Pastoral Application Notes, and Sharper Focus sections might be a bit much without guidance.

This Bible is a brand new study Bible that is being released very soon. This one is very unique in the fact that it is written by a pastor, David Guzik. He shared his personal commentary and touched on every single chapter in the Bible. He explained how pastors are called to preach the word and teach it to others and he came up with the idea to incorporate it into a Bible. His main goal in doing this is to assist readers in understanding the Bible and applying the word to their daily lives. I liked how he had footnotes at the bottom of the pages and this was written as a commentary feature explaining the verses in detail like a pastor would. He begins the Bible by sharing how important it is to know God. These stated how God created the world, we reveled against God, God restores us, and much more.

There is a helpful chart that shows each book of the Bible and the author, date of writing, and how many chapters and verses. They are color coded too into different key features. I liked how he included an introduction to each book of the Bible and provided a background on the author and what we need to pay attention to while reading it.

One of my favorite features included the four gospels side by side: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and how they all synoptic together. It was presented in a table format. It showed who the original audience was, who Jesus Christ was portrayed as, percentage spoken by Christ, keyword, and much more. It thought this was extremely helpful in seeing the similarities and differences throughout the Gospel and provided an easier to see key features.

There is pastoral application notes throughout the Bible. At the very end of the Bible, there is an identity in Christ chart, 30 days of getting to know God, 30 days of getting to know Jesus, a concordance, maps, just to touch on some. The Bible was enclosed in a beautiful brown leather over and had two ribbons, a blue and gold color to help you keep track of your place.

As I looked through this study bible, I found some features that I really liked. In the book introductions, there is a section titled “What to look for when reading __book name___.” These highlight topics and accounts in the book to pay attention to. I found this a nice addition.

Another nice addition is commentary on specific themes that I don’t often see addressed. I really liked the one titled Before The Beginning, highlighting some information that God gives us about himself in the beginning but that we don’t often stop to think about. Some of the highlight boxes are titled Pastoral Application Note and gives a few sentences about a verse and how to apply it. Others were titled A Sharper Focus and contained more detailed information on whatever topic that was addressing. All three of these included interesting thoughts to consider. Please remember that these types of things are man’s addition to God’s Word but that they can add depth to help us mature in God.

Between the Old and New Testaments, there is a short article about things that happened around the world in the 400 years between the historical accounts of the old and new testaments. This is a nice addition that I don’t think I have seen before.

At the end of the Bible, there are three reading plans, 7 maps, and an extensive concordance. All nice additions

I received a brown leathersoft version that feels lovely to the touch and isn’t too heavy. The pages are thin but not so thin that I felt like I was going to tear them just turning the page. I like this Bible a lot. Overall, there is a lot that this version of a study bible has to offer.

I've absolutely loved the Enduring Word Study Bible: Pastoral Commentary from Every Chapter of the Bible. Filled with instructional footnotes, applications, fantastic Bible introductions with fascinating cultural, historical, and geographical facts the average Bible reader (read: non-seminary graduate) might be new to. I certainly was!

I'm using this not only as my personal Bible reading study Bible; but I'm also using it as I lead a Bible study. I prefer to lead (when not using a workbook) using the "Observation/Interpretation/Application" of study, as I love seeing students learn that they can learn on their own. Using this Bible for leading studies will be fantastic for that. The questions in the chapter introductories are perfect for discussions, while the footnotes are exceptional for providing extra info during "interpretation" portions of the study. The Pastoral Applications are beautiful and will be a wonderful touch.

I'm so grateful to have been exposed to this fantastic Bible. It's definitely a new favorite. 5 stars!

Since 2015, I’ve studied the Bible through Precept studies with groups of women. Through these studies, I’ve learned to study inductively, appreciated word studies to bring deeper context to scriptures, and gleaned so much truth from Pastor David Guzik’s commentaries.

Other than the women who have walked through scripture and life with me, the BlueLetterBible app has been the best Bible study tool. That app is where I learned about David Guzik’s Enduring Word verse-by-verse commentary. When I saw the new Enduring Word Study Bible, I was thrilled and immediately shared it with my best Bible study friends.

Based on Guzik’s commentaries, this NKJV study Bible provides so much insight right alongside the Word of God itself. Features include introductions exploring key themes of every book of the Bible, study notes to help you explore the meaning of every chapter of Scripture, 400 application notes to help you live in light of God’s Word, 50 articles offering a deeper exploration of key topics throughout Scripture, and a concordance with more than 200 word studies.

My group is finishing up our study of Galatians, and I’m excited to have this study Bible nearby to reference as I dig deeper into God’s Word and apply it to my life.

The NKJV Enduring Word Study Bible has such an elegant appearance, with a soft and supple brown Leathersoft cover decorated with a pretty emblem. The pages feature gold-gilded edges, and the spine has gold embossed lettering and decorative elements.

One of my favorite features of this study Bible is David Guzik’s insightful study notes that give me a deeper understanding of every chapter. I’ve recently been introduced to Guzik’s verse-by-verse study online and find his insights to be so helpful. The Bible also offers a variety of articles, word studies, and other study aids.

I appreciate the classic two-column layout and all the resources the Bible offers for navigating each chapter and book. Including two built-in ribbon markers and a presentation page also makes this Bible perfect for giving as a gift this Christmas.

The NKJV Enduring Word Study Bible is useful for students of Scripture will appreciate the introduction at the beginning of the each book, and the insights brought by the commentary throughout each chapter. Guzik's Pastoral Notes bring application to bring an even greater understanding. This is a Red Letter Bible which I also appreciate. There's an excellent Concordance and maps at the back to help. The print is easy to read, including the commentary in a slightly smaller size. I do wish there were wide margins for taking notes, but it would increase the weight of the Bible; that can be more difficult for older readers. Great for yourself or as a gift.
