A Method to His Madness

Rate this book
Ashley is stuck. In order to save her family's farm, she married Waylon two weeks ago, a terrible man she doesn't love and won't allow to touch her.

Enter Caleb. On the surface, he's a strict and stoic marriage counselor, but his methods are somewhat...unconventional. In order to save her marriage to Waylon, Caleb proposes that Ashley spend three days—and nights—with him, so the therapist can study what makes her happy. Emotionally. Physically. At the end of their time together, Caleb will pass on his findings to Waylon, so he can be a better husband. Simple, right?

Wrong.

Caleb has absolutely no intention of returning Ashley to her husband—and he has three days to figure out how to save her family's farm from ruin and keep the woman he loves forever. But is there a method to his madness or is he just...mad?

I need someone to check in on Jessa and see if she fell and hit her head and maybe has a concussion because, girl 😂 wtf. Let's face it: Jessa's books are always over-the-top crazy. I mean, at least you had me laughing at this madness.

☆3 Not my fav of JK’s, but her madness is never boring. ☝️

There were actually some serious undertones here about society not believing women who come forward, and assumptions of male entitlement to a woman’s body. But these themes got a bit too muddled up with the exhibitionist smut, honestly. 🙃 I didn’t really get the H’s whole tough city cop turned small town therapist thing—and inspired by Don Draper? 👮‍♂️ ✍️📝🔍🚬🕵️‍♂️ Just a lot going on in this little number. 😆 But if JK is writing it, I’m reading it. 👀

“A Method to this Madness” is the story of Ashley and Caleb.

A heroine trapped in an abusive marriage meets the obsessive hero, who decides to free her by being their therapist. This is absurd smuttiness with some exhibitionist kink in it. One time read with some good parts, the story didn’t claw my heart as the author usually does.

Safe for me

This one just didn't hit for me. I liked the premise but the chemistry between the MCs was meh at best ruining an otherwise good story.

Also, I don't know but these new Jessa Kane novellas feels kinda different from her old ones from before she took the break. Or it's just me?

Swear to God it's like a sixth sense when Jessa Kane releases anything. I can feel it in my BONES. It's like quarterly check to see if I am, in fact, still a slut and I'm thankful to say that I continue to pass with flying colors

Another delicious Jessa Kane Daddy kink fic.

"Take off your panties, angel. I’ll guide you through it."

Ashley (20, virgin) was forced by her parents to marry an abusive jerk in order to save the family farm. Two weeks later, Caleb Draper (33, therapist) gets insta when he spots Ashley at the grocery store, but then he's raging when he sees her husband abusing her. He invites them to couples therapy, where he flat out tells the husband he's going to take his wife from him and give her the power to make her own decisions.

It's a slow burn. Sex doesn't happen until the 72% mark, but damn the build-up was so hot.

I rarely find a JK book I don't like. This one lived up to expectations.

I didn’t love some of the serious themes (the FMC married an abusive man to save her family’s farm), but I guess it did set up the truly wild premise (the MMC convinces the husband to let him provide “unconventional counselling sessions” to the FMC).

I was just thinking “this is ok but not as bonkers as I expected from a Jessa Kane book”, when it went full bananas. That final scene with the husband was just 🫢🤣🤣💀 So if you’re thinking the first half isn’t quite what you signed up for with a JK book, keep reading!

Tropes

Virgin heroine
Obsessed man (he’s obsessed on site)
Daddy kink
Cheating (not between MMCs, she’s married to a sorry excuse of a man)

WTH did I just read???
I knew it was going to be unhinged, a little crazy, but... wow. Some of the word choices were... a definitely choice that is for sure. I can't remember the amount of times I shouted "what?!" and had to reread passages because I couldn't believe the cringe-level. The amount of times I laughed when I don't think I was supposed to be laughing is too damn high tbh.

This was... yeah. I remember why I don't read Jessa Kane anymore hahaha.

BIGUS DICKUS MAXIMUS ENERGY!

This book has sort of gotten me over my reading slump. So it's more a 3.75 star, but it'll get 4 stars.

Such a good chapter one!

“Your profession doesn’t preclude you from being a creep.”

I appreciate that this is 97 pages of unhingness. But Chapter One was so well written. Like you're sucked in that supermarket headspace from both of their perspectives.

Chapter Two
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t feel like a solitary mass of useless rage crying into a void, so even the briefest flash of unity is powerful.

Chapter Three
She needs to come to me. What happens between us needs to be her decision.

I can’t imagine a world where I don’t notice every little thing about her.

Chapter Five
I clapped in shock at the end of the chapter.

Chapter Six
“Take it, angel. Be fucking selfish.”

Chapter Seven
“It’s always like that. No one takes a woman’s fear seriously until she’s dead. Or married to someone who hurts them.”

I love when an author is realistically conscious of real life but also at the same time this book is so over the top.

Chapter Nine
Screetch...record scratch. Daddy.
Okay. Let me list all the things I don't like now that we're here.
The age gap.
Daddy.
The cheating angle.

Chapter Twelve
So unhinged, funny, hot and over the top!
I can’t imagine a world where I don’t notice every little thing about her.

So, anyway, loved this.

I believe I wouldn't be the first to say that this one is kinda more serious compared to her usual past campy works. Like, the brief recollection of what happened to her in that boys' locker room was kinda triggering. And she rarely writes anything triggering. Hence, I always go for her books when I'm in a rut.

So, that was different. Also, it is a unique premise where our girl is married to another guy when this story started. Heck, I was expecting some menage actually. Not domestic abuse. Yeesh, girl. However, the exhibitionism kink was a nice surprise. :)

Oof. I’m a big Jessa Kane fan but this didn’t read like a Jessa Kane novel. The writing style completely changed in this book. And there were many sentences and phrases that made me wonder if AI was involved in the making of this book.🤔

This JK short kind of made me laugh (internally, I don't really LOL) with its obsessed H and the way he treated the h's forced husband of 2 weeks, and I needed a laugh this week. Like many of her shorts it is the instalove, daddy-lite sort of book (really light on the daddy in this one) It has an emphasis on consent and slight bits of doctor/patient and cuckold kink (the h was forced into a marriage, it's unconsummated, and her hubs is a total tool, I don't think of it as cheating but she was technically married).

Ashley is 20 and has to marry her parents' slimy landlord, or they will lose their property. Caleb, a 33-year-old marriage counselor, runs into them and suggests couples counseling, but he has other plans—to teach her about herself and what being loved should be, with hopes of deterring her from her husband.

A Method to His Madness is 97 pages long, and Caleb provides a unique mix of therapy and romance—a man who listens, provides feedback, and loves. It was a good read.

A woman forced to marry an abusive man to save her family's property meets a therapist who instantly becomes obsessed with her. Ensues some very unconventional> therapy sessions, a husband being bitch slapped, a divorce, and a HEA.

Sometimes you just want some mindless filthy entertaining, and this was exactly it!

4.5 on spice. It’s a very short read. 96 pages. So I know things needed to go quickly. But I rolled my eyes at how quickly the main characters fell in love. It was probably the fastest out of any book I’ve read.
