4.5 🌟 Legend, Legend, Legend!!!!! Whatta man, whatta man, whatta damn good man! MY GAWD.
This was age gap romance perfection! Whatever Honey Lake was manifesting at 28 years old, I need to know the exact incantation because chileeeee... Legend Waters put something on my girl in just 72 hours that changed her whole life's trajectory and outlook. Submission and surrender to the right man is life-changing, and Legend was THAT kind of man!
Definitely an enjoyable, quick, spicy read! Also my first time reading something by Thee Tasha Marie, but it will NOT be my last.

Sigh. I'm glad I LOVED the first two books I read by this author because the subsequent two have been so disappointing that, had I read them first, I would never have been blessed with Before I Should Leave and Carrying a Thug's Heart.
Honey and Legend were dull and uninteresting. This started off well enough; I was excited, but it went downhill fast. It really bothers me when it seems like authors forget what they wrote, especially in novellas this short. Honey, the man literally told you his name is Legend Waters, and considering it's similarly as corny as Honey Lake, I'm not sure how you could forget that. So, I'm not sure why when her friend asked his name, Honey said "Legend, no last name", just because his business card didn't have one. You know, because with a full name you all could do something elementary like, I don't know, google him.
Ok, so Honey agrees to one weekend of fun for funding for her business. At literally no point do they discuss the amount of money. There is no discussion of a contract. Nothing. All she has is a business card (no last name) and the fact that he's staying in a villa that will send a car to pick her up (instead of the resort shuttle) and she goes, 'Yep, good enough! Head. Desk.
It's been a while since I've read BDSM so maybe I just wasn't expecting it, but this was just not sexy. There should have been more indication that he was more into control than actual sex for the first night. Maybe during the discussion in the bar? Or more should have been done/said during the scene because when he broke out the 'rose', I literally thought she could have stayed in her room for all that. When he said, 'You like this?' I literally said out loud, 'Not really.' Lol. It was wack. Then when he was done with the rose, it was the dildo, and I found myself thinking he had erectile dysfunction cause what are we doing? Again, I am perfectly fine with scenes if I know that's what I'm looking at. It should have been front loaded better that it was going to be a control session, so we knew what to expect.
I also didn't like the way he seemed to use her desires against her. He was always smirking and saying things like 'you want this, tell me you want this.' Eh. I didn't like him, or find him particularly skilled or sexy. I know that may be crazy to some when she seemed to have fiftyleven orgasms an hour, but between the rose, the dildo, and him going down on her for so long, it felt more to me like he had erectile issues LOL. I know. I know. He was huge and hard and blah blah blah. Yes, he eventually gives her the D, like finally. But even then, because it's condomless (for why?), he pulls out and finishes on her, and instead of being sexy, it feels weird and anticlimactic. The whole thing was just not sexy to me.
Honey continually asked questions trying to fish for compliments, and hoping he would extend the arrangement; it was cringe. He was all cagey and unlikeable, and she kept trying to read more into things. Them trying to have the 'favorite movie, favorite color' conversations was... why am I being subjected to this? Him saying 'we're going to talk business this morning' was all of a 2.5 second conversation, with no discussion of any real business plan. And then on the final day, he hands her a check for an insane amount of money given the fact that there is no discussion of any ownership percentage or return on investment, because that's how millionaires keep/grow their wealth. Rolls.eyes.hard.
The whole thing was disappointing, unsexy and fantastical. I will say that the female cover model is gorgeous.

The Indecent proposal trope can sometimes feel predatory and therefore not sexy and a bit sad. The author managed to avoid that all together. From the beginning, Honey owns her decision. She decides to view it as a weekend escape with a fine ass, rich zaddy who will probably turn her every which way but loose. And baby he does! Legend is also affirming, gentle and an excellent caretaker. His natural dominance is sexy and exactly what this hardworking, young entrepreneur needs even if it’s only for the weekend.
The pacing was great! Surrender to Me is a quick, easy, sexy read. This is my first book by this author but not my last.

Idk.... I wanted to like it. But if I had a dollar for every time Legend smirked in this book, I'd have enough money to fund honey luxe beauty my damn self. The language was very colorful.... to the point where it seemed more like fluff than adding to the actual story itself. My favorite part was the banter between Tyrae and Honey, Tyrae was funny and I like how she broke the 4th wall with some of her comments. Legend's personality was as boring as watching paint dry and I got tired of his vague ass comments.
Would I read this again? No. Would I recommend it? Ehhh. Probably not. It was a quick read though.

This was amazingly well done for a novella. The writing is excellent, the pacing on point. A hero with BDE, but also took the time to challenge the heroine with not only physical intimacy, but also hit on the mental and emotional side as well. Their conversations felt so real and nuanced.
The ending definitely has me needing more of Legend and Honey though! Felt a bit ambiguous!

Legend is the epitome of BDE, multiplied by three. I absolutely love how he showed up for Honey—upfront, honest, and clear about what he wanted. Their weekend together was exactly what Honey needed, and she experienced it all in the best way possible.

I was Hooked
After reading the title and the cover had me hooked before I could read one page.
But from the beginning to the end I wanted to trade places with Ms. Honey and it wasn't about the money.
This entire story had me some on lock. Magnificent read!

okay but not what I expected
I went into this expecting a romance, perhaps an erotic romance, but a romance nonetheless. This is more an erotic short. Even though the premise has great potential, there’s by design not a lot of character or plot development. There isn’t even a HEA unless getting the money is it. It’s all very transactional… which is fine, but not what I expected.
I have no idea why Legend picked up Honey or why he has a practice of what is pretty much predatory behaviour. Honey doesn’t really engage with any feelings about what she had to do to get the money. It’s a sexy book but pretty unsatisfying as a standalone unless you’re solely looking for heat, which this has in spades.

This book was short, sensual, steamy and spicy! Legend led with BDE and showed Honey how to relinquish everything to him. This was my first read by this author but definitely not the last. I’m just hoping that we get a follow up to this story.…another weekend perhaps!

The was he catered to Honey & allowed her to be carefree & live in the moment without overthinking was everything!! He really had me smiling from ear to ear!! Their chemistry was unmatched!! I want them to be together so bad 😩😭 I can’t wait to get into book 2!!

It should really be 1.5 but I kept reading this to the end just to see what would happen.
The difference between telling and showing is killing the writing industry because while this could have been hot, it didn't really hit for me. The premise was interesting, the sexy and seductive nature of getting propositioned like this, and getting to live a once in a lifetime kind of weekend was all what drew me to the book. A Black reviewer on Tiktok had me running to read this because after that reaction, I was all but sold.
Sadly, I wish I knew what that person saw in this. This really needed a thorough edit because giving her his full government name while having her wonder what his last name was throughout the book was a type of distraction I didn't need. It was brought up often enough that I half expected her to go digging for his ID or something.
Legend should've been sexy. I wasn't necessarily fanning myself and going crazy with the smut scenes though. Sure, any man that growls enough and takes sex seriously is seen as hot, but there wasn't a drop of chemistry to be found. Legend was a jerk, alpha-hole, like a cookie cutter billionaire who happened to be Black. He laid out his stipulations before ole girl agreed. And part of that agreement was that when she entered his home, she'd be down for whatever he wanted. So I was confused at how she arrived and still tried to act shy like she didn't know full well what was about to go down.
She spent so much time trying to decipher who Legend was as if they'd randomly fall in love over the weekend, but none of that happened. He stuck to his agreement in the end and sent her on her merry way, which was honestly the best part of the book to me. I thought it'd head towards him willing to explore more or trying to keep her but it didn't which was a nice little twist to this format.
Everything else felt pretty much flat. The girl kept freaking out and relying on her best friend's commentary to get her through the weekend instead of using all 48 hours to ride that man till kingdom come. I wasn't understanding the inner conflict when it was all laid out and Legend never gave the impression that it was anything but what he said in the beginning. It was a quick, too-short erotica that spent more time questioning "what are we" instead of leaning into the premise that this was a filthy weekend between two consenting adults.
I took a gander at more books by this author, that perhaps it was just this particular story that I wasn't into. Seeing the sheer number of novellas, I'm just going to be honest with myself and understand that this isn't an author I'm willing to read more from.

#Justice4HoneyxLegend! With the time that they shared over a weekend, it definitely needed to be something more than that. I'm hoping they could get another weekend that expands past that time. I loved how he not only poured into her physically but also mentally and emotionally...and of course financially.
After all was said and done, Honey was able to transform her business, which helped her transform as a person overall. She got the growth she needed. Now, let's run it back and have these two become a power couple.

Surrender To Me follows Honey Lake, this 28-year-old hustling to save her business at a fancy entrepreneur retreat. She ends up crossing paths with a man who has exactly what she needs—but of course, it comes with a whole lotta heat.
It’s a nice lil read if you want something short or just a palate cleanser. It’s a 4-star for me though, ’cause with novellas things can feel a little rushed. The spicy scenes were doing their job, but the plot wasn’t really giving that tender love and care I wanted. Still, a quick, solid read.

Whew this story was hella spicy, imagine you go to a convention to help get your brand up running looking for a someone to invest in your dream, just to get turned down. But a sexy black multi millionaire man says he believes in you but for only one weekend he wants you to surrender mind, body, and soul for one weekend and he’ll help with your business. Poor Honey Legend turned her every which a way but loose, Legend definitely turned her out. Glad Honey was able to finally get her business running and became successful.

Honey was an entrepreneur that met Legend who was a much older man. I love older men and younger women vibe. Legend offered a weekend with him and he would cut her a check for her business after the weekend, but she had to submit to him. Exploring sexual desires that she didn’t even know that she needed it or want it. She was hesitant to do this, but she was glad in the end that she did it. Plus, there was no strings attached.I love the ending because it gave a sneak peek of what she did with the money afterwards and of course I want it more and there is a part two

One day read! When I tell you I started and couldn’t put it down!! Thank goodness the second book is out cause I’m going MIA to read and finish that one too!
Legend knows exactly who he is, in a cocky, confident, sexy way.
I have to admit when he first gave her the arrangement I was thinking pretty woman vibes. Maybe it still is but in a steamyyyyy way lol. It was amazing how he actually listened to her, believed in her and gave her the opportunity to FLOURISH.
This was also my first Thee Tasha Marie book but she’s now being added to my author list

I thought I wasn’t going to enjoy it but it pulled you along. Not a lot of talking from the H&h but more narratives. The ONLY thing my OCD self had issue with was (spoiler) once she awakens she NEVER went to the bathroom and handled her hygiene. Her getting out of bed and going straight to the kitchen rubbed me the wrong way. Took a star off for that. Nice read though.
