The national competition is coming up fast, and Julie, Lucie, and Alia will need all their skills, all their poise, and a lot of grit and determination to get their routine in perfect shape. The always jealous, ever-scheming Carla is trying to sabotage everything again, but the girls are used to that; what they weren't expecting was their teacher, Mary, falling sick at the worst possible moment! As they struggle to choreograph something on their own for the first time, it may be up to Lucie to step up and save the day.

This one has a lot more about weight issues. But not addressed as a "you shouldn't care about weight," but the major one I remember is something like "if we keep having to eat snacks to avoid our ex's, we won't have to worry about dance anymore!" Ha ha no.

Miss 7 continues to enjoy these books - though I wish for better messaging. There's still the usual gender stereotypes, fat shaming, and the girls not really having any interests other than dance and boys. School Night Fever provides Lucie with a chance to shine - creating choreography for a custom ballet.

Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

I like these books, even though non of them has a connceted sotryline and all. For a non dancer like me (who is passionate about dance) it was inspiring enough to get me off the couch and make me dance. I’ve been practicing fouetté since, hope i can master it till the end of the series. It also taught me some dance jargon!

Ugh.

Is this book French? It reads like those old ‘40s Tintin comics. it’s full of outdate gender roles and gender stereotypes.

It reads like what a middle age white man imagines teenage girls think about: boys and the size of their own butts.

I hate to say it, but I was right and the author actually is French! Maybe there is a Tintin cultural connection!

This one was like #6 in that it focused more on telling a story than collecting a bunch of strips together. The choreography piece was most of the book, although not all of it.
