Terrible writing. In one page, the author goes from current day arc 1 to current day arc 2 to flashback arc 1 to flashback arc 2. Why why why? Sign of a confused mind attempting to write.
Why not simply use separate chapters to distinguish different arcs?

I gave up midway. Sorry, just terrible writing
