I’m an indie author from South Africa, writing paranormal romance and slowly branching out into new, darker themes of the genre, because one love story is never enough. I published my debut novel in July 2025, followed by a companion novella in November 2025.

I’d describe myself as an old-school romantic with a twist and a complete sucker for a happily ever after.

When I’m not writing, I’m powered almost entirely by coffee and surrounded by what can only be described as a pack of feral dachshunds. I’m obsessed with horror movies and all things paranormal, which probably explains a lot about what I write.

My “delulu but determined” life goal is to one day finish the 250+ works-in-progress I’ve already bought covers for. My toxic trait? Fully plotting entire books and character arcs while my current WIP patiently collects dust. And editing? Let’s just say we’re not friends.

I’m a total no-drama-llama, love supporting fellow authors, and thrive in spaces filled with positive, happy energy. Also, I can absolutely be persuaded to do just about anything for an iced coffee frappé with cream.

ARC Review:

I enjoyed this book! The storyline was interesting, and the plot was solid.

The reason my rating falls at 3 stars is that I did not find myself getting attached to any characters, and the characters were not as complex as I would expect from this type of book. This book also falls into the "insta-love" trope, which I don't typically enjoy.

Overall, this is a strong debut for the author, and I look forward to reading more in the future!

“MYSTICAL ENCHANTMENT” by Sloane Noir - ARC REVIEW

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tropes:
✨ Fated Mates
✨ Hybrid Nymph FMC
✨ Jaguar Shifter MMC
✨ Touch Him/Her and ☠️
✨ Epic Battle
✨ Old School Romance
✨ Mild Spice

The story begins with the storytelling of the “Hybrid Nymph” species and how Maia, the current queen of the Nisseve Forest, faced a vampire she had once welcomed in her kingdom with open arms years ago but only to fall into his trap. He turned her into a hybrid and being so distress about the future change of her and her people, she suffered alone in a cave with a spring, where her tears turned into crystals, and the water became a cure for bloodlust. After that solution was found, hybrid people supress their thirst for blood with this magical water, without having to kill innocent humans.

The Stream of Enchantment becomes the key point of the story. Abbadon, the god of Hell, charms Keira’s sister to kill her and gain access to the stream to destroy the Nisseve people. Failing to do so, he summons a goddess, Culsu, to open a portal to the outside world and together with his army of ghouls he begins his advance.

Keira and Vane had chemistry from the first meeting. Since they are fated mates, they felt the connection instantly. I really liked how Vane’s family accepted her, though I wish the story had focused more on that part with more details, I felt it wasn’t explored enough, and I would’ve loved more moments about it.

The spice was mild, sweet and I loved how Vane held himself back so many times around Keira, but the spicy scenes were chef’s kiss.

Also, I absolutely loved how the author explored Romania by adding folkloric elements. I was pleasantly surprised and maybe I’m biased but I really loved how she executed the lore in this story. And in volume 2, we’ll get to see even more of that (confirmed right from the author).

I really liked that there were so many magical creatures, still, sometimes it felt like the story moved too quickly, with new magical creatures appearing constantly.

At the same time, I felt like Keira’s relationship with Bellona wasn’t explored enough, and there wasn’t enough emotional connection, especially since she lost her to the evil side. I had a “wtf, so that’s it?” reaction. Sure, the betrayal was there, so I understood Keira, but I still wanted to see more of their relationship beyond just jealousy.

I enjoyed this book. It was different and had a unique spin on things, which was refreshing. It was a beautiful love story between Keira, a nymph/vampire hybrid, and Vane, a jaguar shifter. I thought it was very well written and flowed seamlessly. You get to experience real struggles of the characters and how they slowly try to overcome them and how they learn they are stronger together, each a half that makes each other whole.

I loved all the action and adventure that kept you engaged and invested in characters. There were plot twists, the magic was unique, there are betrayals and secrets, and a diverse interesting set of characters. Overall, I thought this was a really beautifully written story.

Thank you so much to the author for a gifted eARC.

This was such a good read! I really liked the different kind of species. Loved the artwork in the ARC too.

One word. Bellona. She made me so angry.

This book was in multiple POV so at times it’s was too many people at once

The bond between the FMC and MMC was pretty great too!

Vampires, trolls, demons, were-jaguar. Oh my!

- fated mates
- jaguar shifter MMC
- nymph shifter FMC
- old time romance
- slow burn
- low spice

An enjoyable romantic fantasy novel. If you like a spicy story, the spice is top notch! The story is heartwarming and full of surprises. As a reader you are enthralled by the characters and the storyline right from the start. The pace continues through book, I wasn’t disappointed. The author did a great job, well done.
Happy Reading!

⭐️ 4/5 stars

Mystical Enchantment by Sloane Noir is a beautifully atmospheric paranormal romance packed with magic, intrigue, romance, and friendship. From the very first pages, I was drawn into a world that feels both mythical and refreshingly unique.

I especially loved the shifter element woven throughout the story, brought to life even more through the stunning artwork scattered between the pages. It added such a visual magic to the reading experience and made everything feel more immersive.

This book has such a rich, enchanting vibe that completely transports you to another world. If you enjoy paranormal romance with a strong sense of atmosphere and creativity, this is definitely one to pick up.

4.5 stars rounding to 5 for review.

A beautiful Romantasy story of fated mates, found family and a wonderful happy ever after ending.

We start our journey off with Maia, the Nisseve Queen and the betrayal from a vampire she welcomed into her kingdom, he turns her into a hybrid with an extreme craving for blood. In her despair of what she’s become and what her kingdom will become, she sheds tears into a spring that runs throughout her kingdom, these tears become crystals that magically enhance the water, so that all hybrids who drink from the waters will not suffer the cravings of the bloodlust. From that day on, Nisseve hybrids thrive, but Maia can feel the darkness calling.

We fast forward to Keira, Maias Granddaughter and the next Queen of Nisseve. Here is where our story takes a dark turn, as Bellona, Keira’s sister is harbouring dark, jealous feelings towards her future Queen, these feelings attract Abbadon, the God of Hell, who manipulates Bellona into embracing the darkness, killing Keira, and taking the kingdom with its secrets of the spring and its magical waters right to him, so he can consume the power for himself.

In one attempt on her life, Keira is rescued by a tall, dark, brooding warrior, who just so happens to also be a Jaguar Shifter. Together with his shifter family, they build a strong bond filled with magic, loyalty and Love.

The bond between Keira and Vane grows until it’s clear they cannot live in a world without each other, and they’re much stronger together than apart.

Together the shifters and Elves of Nisseve take a journey to Hell to defeat the God himself. And restore the power and safety to the Nisseve people.

⭐️✨ My Star Rating System ✨⭐️

🌟 5 Stars — OBSESSED. I’ll be thinking about this book forever. It gave me all the feels, the plot delivered, and the characters live rent-free in my head. Would sell my soul for a sequel.

🌟 4 Stars — Loved it! Strong story, great pacing, and I was fully invested. A few small things held it back from a full five, but I’d still recommend it to almost anyone.

🌟 3 Stars — It was good, just not my fave. Enjoyable but didn’t quite hit all the marks. Might work better for someone else!

🌟 2 Stars — Struggled to stay interested. The idea had potential, but something just didn’t click for me—whether it was the writing, pacing, or characters.

🌟 1 Star — Not for me. I had a hard time finishing and probably wouldn’t recommend. (That said, every book has its reader—it just wasn’t this one’s day.)

I couldn’t put this book down once I started—it was absolutely unputdownable. From the very first page, the writing style pulled me in with its atmospheric, immersive quality that made the entire story feel like a living, breathing world. I felt deeply connected to both the FMC and MMC, and the way their relationship developed felt raw and real. The chemistry between them, especially in the spice scenes, was palpable—you could genuinely feel the love and intensity between them, and the tension was just *chef’s kiss*.

One of the highlights was how the author captured the feeling of family, both the found kind and the complicated dynamics of the relationships that shaped the characters. But while I found myself rooting for the FMC and MMC, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of sadness for the FMC, who went through some incredibly tough moments. There were also characters that I absolutely *detested*—but in the best way possible, as they added such tension and complexity to the story.

The suspense was relentless. Every twist and turn kept me on edge, and I loved how the author wove in layers of mystery and emotion. And then there’s the ending… *wow*. It gave me all the feels, wrapping up the story in such a fulfilling way. It was bittersweet, heart-wrenching, but also beautiful in its own right.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, and I’m already itching for the author’s next release!

I gave this 3.75/5⭐

This book gave me all the fairytale feelings. Honestly, there couldn’t be a more fitting title because it truly was mystical and enchanting.

The world-building was well done and easy to follow.
The author provides a brief background on how the different creatures came to be, then jumps forward in time to when the granddaughters are grown.
As someone who appreciates clarity, I really liked this 🥹

The main characters were well written, likeable, and overall enjoyable to read about. The story has a clear plot and direction, which is always a big plus. It leans more toward plot-driven storytelling, with the spice taking a secondary role.

That said, I did find the interactions between the MMC and FMC a bit confusing at times. Their dynamic felt somewhat hot and cold and didn't always make sense.
The story is also written in third-person POV, which I usually don’t mind, but in this book it made things harder to follow.

The spicy scenes were… uhm, something else 👀.
The wording used in those scenes did NOT work for me, and they didn’t feel particularly compelling.
BUT it wouldn’t stop me from reading the book.
I don’t read books purely for spice anyway, and I don’t think it should be the main focus.
Still, when it’s there, I do want it to land—and for me, it didn’t quite hit.

Overall an enjoyable and feelgood read for me

Vane & Keira
The story: Keira is a nymph-vampire hybrid, next in line to be queen. Hated by her sister, her life is endangered multiple times until she comes across a jaguar shifter, Vane. By saving an innocent woman's life, Vane didn't know that he indeed saved his own mate. Together they unite and unlock their hidden powers to win the evil master of hell.
Things to discuss about this book:
It had an exciting and different type of story from the usual shifter romances I read. I'd categorised it more as fantasy.
It was interesting enough, but the many descriptive details and the beginning of the story delayed me from taking the whole picture. With that being said, I'd prefer Grandma's story to be somewhere in between and not in the first chapter because, honestly, I was expecting her to be the main lead.
- I loved the mention of some Greek names I came across throughout the story.
- One thing it left me 'uninterested' in was the almost poetic details in describing the scenery or people. It wasn't that bad, but it's not my cup of tea.
- Lastly, I loved the artwork between the chapters that gave the vibe of the characters.
All in all, it was a good read. I recommend it.

Review:
This was a beautiful and captivating love story between Keira, a nymph/vampire hybrid, and Vane, a jaguar shifter. I found it to be very well written—the pacing was smooth but a bit fast, and the emotional depth truly resonated.

What really stood out was the way the story balanced romance with action, adventure, and a strong sense of character development. You’ll see the real struggles Keira and Vane face—not just as supernatural beings, but as individuals carrying emotional trauma of their own.

Their journey toward healing and trust felt authentic, and the way they slowly realized they’re stronger together, each completing the other, was both powerful and touching.
The plot kept me engaged with its twists and turns. The magic system was unique, adding richness to the world. There were betrayals, secrets, and moments of real danger that added to the book’s world building and plot.
The cast of side characters was diverse and interesting, adding depth and perspective to the book.

This book offers a compelling blend of romance, fantasy, and action that will absolutely appeal to fans of paranormal and urban fantasy romance.

This was a very enjoyable epic fantasy, but then I do have a soft spot for shifters and vampires.

While the Nissevè are not traditional vampires, they were created when the Nymph Queen, Maia, was bitten by the vampire, Marcus, they are vampiric enough to scratch that itch. This story mostly follows Maia's granddaughter, Keira.

There are various shifters in this world, but this book focuses on a small pack of big cat shifters, who all found and saved each other in various ways. They are not your traditional pack, and I love that for them.

I was wondering how these two groups would cross each others paths and wasn't disappointed when the meeting did eventually take place. The plot definitely kept me interested right to the end, and I'm looking forward to reading book two in the future.

I received an ARC of this ebook from the author, and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

We follow Keira, part of a line of nymph/vampire hybrids who live near a magical stream that helps cure their vampire bloodlust. Her life is turned upside down when the God of Hell turns her sister against her in an attempt to gain access to the magical stream. After a failed attack by her sister, Keira finds herself in the care of Vane, a handsome leopard shifter, and his comrades, who begin to help her make a plan to defeat the god's attacks against her and her people. She quickly feels a strong pull to Vane, and he to her, leading them to explore the connection between them.

This was a cute, engaging story that kept me invested the entire time. I liked the big cat shifter aspect and the unique magic system and world. Vane is super sweet and hot, and Keira is very likable!

Thank you to the author for the e-arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mystical Enchantment is a wild ride, full of (mis)adventure, shifters (of all kinds), vampires, nymphs and mystical creatures. You'll find romance, loyalty, betrayal, secrets and fated mates. Keira is a hybrid nymph desperate to unlock the power of her birthright - a dark evil is threatening all she loves and she is running out of time to defeat it.
Vane is a broody jaguar shifter who cares for his adopted family deeply and is fiercely protective. He has built walls to prevent getting close with anyone after his traumatic childhood and experiences.
This story is a good mix of dark, tense and romantic vibes, wrapped in a battle of good vs evil. It has everything you could want and more in a paranormal romantasy.

Read the ARC copy. Found the story original and entertaining. The author narrates it in third person, which is not my preferred style, but it is so beautifully written, that captured my interest in the heavily crafted fantasy world. Keira is a mystical princess from an underground fantasy world that finds herself being the target of her younger sister’s jealousy. On an attempt to eliminate her, Keira is left exposed to the sun and is at the brink of death when Vane appears and takes care of her until she is replenished and can return home. On the journey back to her kingdom, is revealed that Vane is in fact her fated mate, and together they fight back an evil demon determined to take over the Nissevé throne.

This was definitely an interesting read. I think that this story line was actually very unique. I love a good shifter tale. Our FMC, Keira, is a nymph/vampire hyrid and she falls for Vane who is a jaguar shifter.

I think the characters were well written although I would have loved to had I just loved it more depth and complexity to them. Overall, though I feel like this story.Just kind of grabs you and keep you interested. I mean, we're talking about shifters you can't go wrong.

I feel like the author had a way of writing that kind of immersed you in the story and I love it when someone does that. When I feel like I'm literally part of the story. It makes it so much more enjoyable to read.

This book follows the life of shifters and Keira's journey into becoming queen of the nymphs. She's being hunted by uer jealous sister and ends up meeting Vane who is her fated mate and a jaguar shifter.

I enjoyed this story, the joining of two worlds and the revelation of Keira's powers. It took me some time to get into the story, but once it started to get interesting, I couldn't put the book down. I will definitely read the next book.

Beyond 5⭐️

“for you, I will burn the world down.”
“There is nothing in this world or in the next that I would not face for you.”
“I will go with you to the ends of the earth if it means I can touch you and love you forever.”

Mystical Enchantment is the perfect name for this. I love the world that Sloan Noir has built. It’s enchanting, magical and fascinating.
It has nymphs, elves, witches, shifters, demons, gods and goddesses and omg unicorns!
Keira is a nymph princess and the heir to the throne. She’s very sweet and loved by her kingdom. There’s a betrayal that puts her life in danger.
Vane is a were-jaguar shifter and the alpha.
When their two worlds collide, nobody could have imagined how everything would change.
If you love a magical world with all the fantastical creatures that will keep you up late because you just can’t put it down then you will love this beautiful love story that is all about how magnificent it is to find your soulmate and the power that comes from being together.

Just finished this first in the series. I really enjoyed the diversity of characters - shifters, nymphs, mages, elfs, and [of course] a barrage of evil creatures. The focus on a super strong bonding between the MMC and FMC throughout the plot development is heartwarming.

The first book in the series follows Keira as she navigates pending Queendom, a sister seeking to destroy her and a fated mate bond to a shifter.

The world building and character development kept me flipping pages to see what came next.

I was given this book as an Arc! And I’m so so very grateful for it!

This is the authors debut novel! And honestly she should be really proud of it!

Let’s just start here with I absolutely love Fated Mates!

Now the book only lost a star from me because I personally don’t love third person I find I get more confused with what’s going on in third but that’s just a personal preference of mine.

Also, sometimes during the story there was a lot going on but that wasn’t always a bad thing! I really enjoyed it and it was face paced from the beginning.

I loved Vane sooo much! I wasn’t sure how I was gunna feel about different shifters but it actually didn’t bother me at all! And I was fine! I loved his little strops he was having about stuff as well 🤭 very alpha shifter of him 😂

The magic system took me a while to get a hand on and maybe could’ve been a bit simpler to follow but it was all different to what I’ve read before with new creatures I haven’t encountered in other books so it was a learning cure for myself in some parts!

Overall! I really enjoyed this book! It’s definitely worth reading if you enjoy shifters, fated mates and some battles! 🤭

Mystical Enchantment is the first book in a series of interconnected standalones telling stories of love & devotion, and centred around various shifter species. Sloane was inspired by the vast richness of Romanian folklore, which drew me in first.

This first one follows the story of Keira, a nymph/vampire hybrid and a Queen in the making and Vane, an Alpha from a powerful Jaguar-Shifter bloodline. I love the stories centred around fated mates and their bonds, so this felt right up my alley. I'm not the biggest fan of insta-love, and this romance seemed more of an instant attraction than a bond in the making.

Still, the plot was intriguing, and I felt pulled in right from the prologue. Being a standalone, I wasn't expecting intricate world-building or deep character development, simply because it takes more than one book to achieve that.

I loved the found family trope and its execution. Everyone had a choice–they chose to join the pack and form familial bonds based not on blood, but on friendship and devotion. The pack stole my heart, and I would love for them all to grow and develop in future books.

Thank you, Sloane, for having me on your ARC team; it was a pleasure.

The very first thing that completely captivated me was the cover! 🖤 It’s so gorgeous and eye-catching that I kept waiting for the perfect moment to dive into this story.

From the very first page, the story pulls you in and doesn’t let go until the very last. It’s filled with vivid, lively characters and a wide fantasy world: nymph–vampire hybrids, shapeshifters, witches, and even evil creatures from hell

The romance – insta love, fated mates. Written in such a light, effortless way that you can truly feel their love. I even teared up a few times, touched by the depth of their bond.

The plot is packed with twists and turns, and I really enjoyed the pacing throughout.

Overall: I absolutely loved this book! A strong, enchanting debut that left me excited for what’s to come ✨

I am not a fan of books written in 3rd POV, but this one was amazing !

The reading is easy, smooth and immersive. The plot, the characters and the twists are very well thought.

The fantastic universe is incredible and easy to understand, absolutely not overwhelming like some romantasy books are.

Keira and Vane's love story is also magical and will make you swoon !

Full transparency, I rated this higher because it is Sloane Noir's debut novel and her social media content depicts how many years, planning, time and love went into this work. That deserves a star all on its own. My enthusiasm and support for Indie Authors is STRONG and I won't apologize for that. I also have a hard time not comparing books in the same genre because I am autistic and pattern recognition is a default setting for my brain. In comparison to other Romantasy books I LOVE, this probably would have been rated a 3 star instead of four. BUT, I think that the groundwork laid in this novel was REALLYYYYYYYYY well done. I can see it being built upon. I will definitely be reading the next book. I loved the different characters in this book, not just the FMC & MMC. Mystical Enchantment roped me in as soon as I saw the list of tropes on Sloane's IG. Found family, Witchy Best Friend, Cat Familiar, Shifters, Magic, Fated Mates, etc.

Things that were really done well in this novel - world-building, character development and complexity of their individuality (including side characters), backstory of events before the main story-line, truly evil villain you love to hate, emotional engagement that made me feel invested in characters' journeys, unique magic systems and a fun spin on shifter magic and types.

The things I struggled with are really all personal preference issues and nothing about the story itself. Third person omniscient viewpoints are not my preferred viewpoints as a reader. I have a hard time keeping up with the storyline when I'm getting a "fly on the wall" viewpoint with dialogue from multiple characters on one page. I often had to backtrack and re-read to make sure I understood who was saying and doing what. I am a very fast-paced reader and as a single mother who reads when she can (often while cooking, in between chores, work, etc.) it is just easier for me to keep the storyline straight and feel invested when I get a deep-dive, first person point of view from multiple characters (aka MPOV) or one main character. This may not be an issue for other people. If it is, just keep in mind that you may need to move slower and pay closer attention to details (like me - lol). I would still read it again, even knowing the POV style. I will still read the next one, even if it is written in the same POV style. I also don't love "insta-love" romance - which to be fair is the only thing that makes sense in this story due to the nature of shifter mate bonds (so again, not knocking that part of the plot). I do think that despite the nature of shifter mate bonds being very intense, very quickly, Sloane did a really good job of building in tension and yearning due to the MMC's history and trauma. This made the fast-paced nature of their love more enjoyable for me.

Overall, I loved a lot about this novel and the story. I am definitely looking forward to what happens next and definitely recommend this book to other romantasy book lovers. Thanks to Sloane for sending me a copy to read when I found your book through social media. It meant a lot to be offered the opportunity, in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review

Mystical Enchantments by Sloane Noir

This debut romantasy novel by Sloane Noir has a lot going on. Love, hate, betrayal, some political drama, slow burn fated mates, adventure, found family, multiple paranormal characters. And Noir says this is just the first book.

Keira is being tapped to accept her birthright and take her grandmother’s place as Queen. She tries to embrace her new responsibilities while mastering the magics of her nymph and vampire heritages. All the while something dark lurks along the edges of her home, staining it with a malevolent influence. Vane has a sense of duty to his pack of wayward shifters. As Alpha, each pack member is his responsibility which means he’s hardened his heart. That, coupled with his difficult upbringing, means the last thing he looks for is love. The two of them come together in a collision of worlds and everything changes.

This was a big undertaking for a debut novel. Noir had to example several different magic systems and paranormal histories. This was done fairly well with only a few lingering questions.
The story moved along quickly. There are multiple POVs being represented even beyond the 2 main characters. This always moves the story along and helps keep readers engaged. This could have been helped by putting headers to indicate which POV was being represented.

With so much detail to be packed in, the ending felt a little rushed to me. Several new characters were introduced within the last half of the book. Noir did a good job of trying to give as much information as possible. The motivations of the ultimate villain were a mystery to me as well.
I found myself having timeline issues with the narrative. There were several places where it almost felt as if two different realities where time moved at different paces were being described.

I also had some confusion when it came to portions of dialogue in the story. The speaker was not always clearly identified in the text so I found myself having to go back and reread to figure out who was talking. Often it was one person even though the formatting made it look like it was a conversation. It is possible that the ARC I received had some formatting problems that were addressed before final release.

Overall I feel like this is a solid start to a larger paranormal/fantasy series. The issues I personally had can be easily worked out in later installments of the series.

Vibes this book gives: The Sound of Steel by EV Sauvage, The Sound of Claws by EV Sauvage

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received this advanced copy from Sloane Noir via BookFunnel in exchange for an honest review and feedback.
