Sigh! Another Bancroft Happily Ever After. And much like the Bancroft couples before them, Hayes and Dixie had a world of dysfunctional family drama and angst to deal with on their journey. Even though they often made me want to tear my hair out from the roots, I loved watching this pair learn to communicate with one another, trust themselves and each other, and just generally fall head over heels in love. There was a whole lot of book here, but it still didn’t entirely satisfy my ravenous hunger for more Bancroft stories. I want the next book and I want it NOW! I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
I normally LOVE long books. 400-500 pages is usually my favorite. This book was too long. So much B.S. The FMC is supposedly a strong, independent woman but she breaks up with the MMC because of her sister’s feelings? She lets her parents stomp all over her. She is a coward for hiding the pregnancy from the MMC. If she would have told him from the beginning, none of the subsequent drama would have happened. Honestly, she brought it on herself. She almost ruined the book for me. Like, I was very close to DNFing because of her.
Dixie Holland is going to see her best friend Pamela in the Manhattan townhome that she herself covets. Instead she lives in a tiny apartment in a sketchy part of town. While there, she meets a tall, handsome man but is interrupted by Pamela introducing her to a loser named Paul, so she does what is needed and slips out the back door with handsome hulk Hayes Bancroft in tow. After dinner at his brother Dane’s restaurant and a carriage ride, they go back to his penthouse and experience earth-shattering passion - six times. Later, at dinner with his family, their father declares that Hayes and his brother Isaac, both single, are required to bring a plus one to his pre-wedding Maldives vacation with the entire family.
Thankfully, the vacation is a roaring success for everyone, including Dixie, who fits in perfectly, blending in as a result of her kindness, consideration, and an ability to talk about a myriad of topics. But disaster waits at home when she finally reveals Hayes’s identity to her sister Frankie, who, as it turns out, dated him two years ago and was left brokenhearted, and since the earth revolves around her, Frankie insists that Dixie break up with Hayes immediately. When Dixie talks to Hayes, he is taken aback because he and Frankie dated for a small time only, and they never even had sex, but as his life is swirling down the sink, he accepts his fate. But then comes the surprise.
Ali Parker adds another hit to her library! I love, love, love this story and literally cried for the two lovers ripped apart just as they were beginning a wonderful relationship. Both Hayes and Dixie have deep-seated insecurities and unresolved issues that create a push-me pull-you effect threatening the relationship. Can they overcome the obstacles to find a way to HEA, or will they simply give up under the weight? Grab a copy of Our Forbidden Love Affair and dive into the world of billionaires’ lavish lifestyle that also includes strong family ties and fierce passion.
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.
“Our Forbidden Love Affair” is another powerful romance in The Bancroft Boys series by Ali Parker. If you haven’t read any of the books in the series, that is okay; they are skillfully written to also be enjoyed as standalone’s. This opposites attract story features an instant connection at a housewarming party. Hayes and Dixie meet, sparks fly, and that starts them on a wonderfully winding path. Their story is full of laughter and tears, truths, lies, and misconceptions, and unexpected surprises both good and not so good.
I don’t want to reveal too much of the plot the author obviously spent much time weaving, but I will say that all the twists and turns not only impact the characters, they also reveal the hidden depths of those characters to the reader. At this point, I am probably partial to the Bancroft family, but I really wanted to reach into the story and shake Dixie’s parents and her sister, Frankie. Considering what Dixie deals with, it becomes no surprise that she has serious self-esteem issues. The issues plaguing Hayes are more complex in some ways, but no less understandable.
I thought this was an excellent romance novel. Knowing we would we get our “happily ever after” because the main characters would get theirs, made turning pages easier even when emotions were high and I was almost afraid to learn what would happen next. It’s a super steamy story but there is plenty of other things to balance out the heat. I received an advanced reader copy of this book because I promised to give it an honest review, which I have. I also, honestly, would have gladly paid for it because I knew it would be a terrific read – and it was.
Wow, another great romance from Ali Parker who never seems to disappoint. The Bancroft boys have brought us hours of reading pleasure and this book is a great addition. This is Hayes and Dixie’s story and you won’t be disappointed. It instant attraction when they meet at a housewarming party and their lives are forever changed. The book has a lot of family drama and interference, especially from her side. A controlling mother, a jealous sister and an unplanned pregnancy all add to the turmoil. Dixie is very independent but has self worth issues because of her parents favoritism to her younger sister. The Bancroft’s are not only wealthy beyond dreams but also frequent the tabloid front pages. They are a big family that knows how to have fun and they all support each other. One highlight of this story is the planning for and wedding of Hayes father to his aunt. Not a dull moment with the Bancroft’s. Overcoming trust issues and secrets play a big roll in their lives, but eventually an HEA and no cliffhanger. I read a free arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
I love a good old fashioned Bancroft book and this one is no different. The whole family is a joy to read about. This one is about Hayes Bancroft. He’s at a house warming party when he meets Dixie. They are complete opposites in so many ways but when they met, you can tell the chemistry was going to be good. They hit it off so well that he asks her to go on a family vacation to the Maldives. Family vacation as in, most of the Bancroft family is going. Is she getting in too deep already? Nope, they treat it like she is just like everyone else. That is what I love about the Bancroft, they are rich as sin but treat people normally just as they would like to be treated. When she finally tells her sister who she is seeing, things explode between the two of them as Frankie thinks Hayes belongs to her after a few dates years ago. Needless to say, Dixie breaks not only her heart but Hayes’ as well and ends the relationship. Until, she finds out she is pregnant and then finally puts herself first instead of everyone else. Can they make things work when you are complete opposites? Well, you’re going to have to read the book to find out. Enjoy
This HEA doesn't come easy for our Bancroft couple, Dixie and Hayes. Hayes is an self-professed permanent bachelor, until he catches Dixie landscaping a horrifically boring guy at her friend's house warming party. These two hit it off, and things evolve quickly for them! The number of ups and downs this couple face are almost impossible to conquer. Things get even rougher when Dixie ends up pregnant! I was thoroughly engrossed with this pair of lovebirds...and couldn't put the book down when I started it. This was a story that I wasn't certain would actually survive the number of problems they ran into. I really enjoyed the continuing peeks we get into the other Bancroft family stories. It was just the right amount of background that didn't require the reader to read all the other books. I look forward to seeing more brothers' stories!
This book had a lot of ups and downs. At times I really liked it but there were times that I was really exasperated and a little sick of all the excessive drama. I don’t do spoilers, but I’ll just say that some of the drama with Frankie and Dixie’s mom and Hayes and even Simon was just a little extreme and unrealistic. The book started out good and the love story between Hayes and Dixie was great, an opposites attract, bring out the best in each other type of relationship. But when the drama started, it got a little too crazy and never seemed to let up. As soon as one issue seemed to be resolving, another complication popped up and it just felt tedious and drawn out to me. However, if you can stick it out to the end, everything comes together nicely. I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
First I have to say that I love all the Bancoft's and each story seems better than the last. I never want these books to end. This story is about Hayes and Dixie who meet at a mutual friends party. Dixie is set up with a blind date by her friend and when it doesn't work out, she is trying to escape out the back door. Hayes is trying to leave as well and they decide to leave together. The attraction, both physically and sexually lead to a great night and they decide to continue to see each other. The story has its highs and lows with Dixie's spoiled younger sister and her meddling mom who doesn't think she is good enough, to Hayes who is afraid to commit. This is a fast read that you wont want to put down until the last page is turned. The sex is amazing and hot, hot, hot!!!!! (Did I mention I love all of the Bancroft men!) This is a must read!
This book is part of the Bancroft Series, but each story can be enjoyed on its own. The main focus is Hayes Bancroft, a man who’s always said he’s fine being single. That is, until he meets Dixie at a party and sparks fly between Hayes and Dixie, and things move quickly between them.
But their relationship isn’t without its challenges. Things get even more complicated when Dixie finds out she’s pregnant. Hayes and Dixie have a tough road ahead, but the strong connection they share makes it possible to face everything that comes their way.
I also loved getting a sneak peek of the other Bancroft brothers from the previous book. It was fun to see bits of their stories, which added to the overall experience. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance with a lot of heart.
I received an ARC of this book and am sharing my honest opinion.
This is the latest in the Bancroft series. While you don’t have to have read the previous books, you will get more enjoyment if you have read other books in the series as other family members feature heavily in this story. This story is about Hayes, originally a Vancouver Bancroft now living in New York, and Dixie, a native New Yorker. They meet at the house warming of mutual friends where Dixie is supposed to meet a blind date, but, thankfully, she meets Hayes first. There is an instant attraction between them and things quickly develop, however their story isn’t straightforward and there are lots of obstacles and twists and turns for them to overcome if they are to have a future together! A thoroughly enjoyable read, definitely not a straightforward love story, which I received as an ARC.
Hayes and Dixie A really enjoyable story between two very different people from different walks of life. Hayes is extremely wealthy and well known where Dixie is a middle class girl doing it tough to survive. They meet unexpectedly and are instantly attracted to each other. After spending an amazing night together they realise that they don’t want it to end there. There are lots of fun and amazing times, steamy scenes but also secrets, family drama and bad behaviour that gets in the way of them truly becoming a couple. With the feelings they have for each other can they work through all of the issues that arise? I loved the characters and how close all the Bancroft family were and look forward to reading more Bancroft stories.
Hayes and Dixie meet up when Dixie is escaping from a blind date at a house party and Hayes agrees to help. At that stage she didn’t really know that Hayes was a Bancroft and all the wealth that came with him. They had a journey and a half to reach their HEA, but it was not without some fun and games. Chuck in a self-centred sister for Dixie and add her meddling mother and she certainly had her work cut out. I just couldn’t understand why she didn’t just come out with her news, it would have saved a lot of heartache but then again they also wouldn’t have had such steamy make-up sessions. There’s always fun in store when the Bancroft boys get together but they always have each other’s back. A good read catching up with this family and their ever expanding numbers.
4.5 Stars!! Another good Bancroft novel. They met at a housewarming party of mutual friends and hit it off. Dixie seems to know how to have fun and is very down to earth. Hayes has an insta love when they spend the night together. He can't seem to get her out of his mind though he is not ready to commit. He does want to spend more time with her. He invites her on a Bancroft vacation where she gets to meet most of his family and all the accompanying drama. Dixie seems also to be second guessing herself and her family doesn't help her self-esteem. Will they be able to make it work? They have a very strong attraction but is it enough? Good read.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.
A chance meeting with Dixie at a party has Hayes affect him more than he expected. When he finds out he needs to bring a companion on a family vacation he knows he wants it to be her. It was everything he wanted to be until he found out that his past could destroy the future they could have together.
Dixie will do anything for those she cares about so when she finds out about Hayes’ connection with her sister she decides to make other people despite how it affects her and ends their relationship. She is about to find out that fate has other ideas when an unexpected surprise will forever tie their lives.
I enjoyed the characters of Dixie and Hayes as they have so much turmoil and so many obstacles to overcome as they fight for what really matters which is each other.
Hayes Bancroft and Dixie meet at his brothers and her childhood best friend’s housewarming party under unusual circumstances. Could it be fate? Yes, they leave the party together and finally have an electrifying kiss and then a hookup which leads to something neither one is ready for. They go through a lot of interference in Dixie’s life, and two big things in Hayes life, with Dixie’s sister and her mother, too. It’s an up and down relationship with big insecurities they both face. Secrets are kept which is never good, but it’s out of being terrified how the other one will react. Once they unburden themselves, life is much better. Such a steamy and emotionally intense love story I won’t soon forget.
Hayes Bancroft is living his best life and has no plans to change it. As far as he's concerned bachelorhood is for him. Dixie Holland is living her chosen path and just getting by. She claims she's the family's screw up. A chance meeting at a party has them planning the great escape. With the success of their escape, Hayes is intrigued with the witty Dixie. She has no idea he is one of the Billionaire Bancrofts who her younger sister dated a few years ago. This maybe be the best Bancroft Brothers book yet. There is a ton of family love, conflict and ups and downs to make you not want to put the book down. I couldn't read this one fast enough.
I enjoyed this so much but when 1:00 came I had to put the book down, but got up the next morning and read it till I finished it, it was that good. All the characters in the book had a Issue that needed to be taken care of, And this book is about The artistic Wood furniture lady and A man who felt hard and fast. I enjoyed each character and the way the author describes some in the book and just by their actions in the book I fell in love with each and every 1. The setting the plot it was good. I love when you feel the inner emotions as the author tells you about it just not in words but she really grips you.
This book is part of the Bancroft Series, but they can all be read as standalones, a couple should be read first just to get the beginning of the story. This book is mainly about Hayes Bancroft and the girl he meets, Dixie. Hayes and Dixie definitely don't have an easy time of it coming together for an HEA but it sure makes for a fun read. I 😍 loved this book and highly recommend it. One minute I was chuckling then sniffling, next laughing out loud. Ali has all the emotions in t his book at least they came out in me. So run out and get your copy.
This chemistry crazed romance between Hayes and Dixie is off the charts! I recommend 100% They love each other but keep tripping over their own feet. Sometimes you don't know whether to laugh, cry, punch them or hug them! Thank you for the updates on many of the Bancroft brothers and cousins. As always the supporting characters are so special, nobody does it better than a Parker! Ali Parker hit this one out of the park! It'll be a sad day when this series is finished, Bancroft family is exquisite and such a gratifying read!
Hayes and Dixie met while both of them was trying to get out of a party. Dixie was escaping a bad blind date. They were attracted to each other. They had a hot steamy passion night together. Going together to his father's pre-wedding Maldives vacation everything went just fine. Back home thing turned into disaster. They had to face so much ups and downs and just when you think everything is going to be okay another problem pops up. Will they be able to overcome everything and get a happy ending. Grab a copy it is totally a must read. Great story.
Hayes is a wonderful addition to the Bancroft series. All it takes is one look at Dixie and he is determined to get her. They meet at a housewarming party that has Hayes captivated and ready to make her his in spite of the interference from others that want to keep them apart. Dixie has her own set of issues coming from controlling parents and favoritism to a younger sibling. Overall, this story will have you all caught up in the drama and cheering on Hayes and Dixie to get their chance to finding happiness. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Brilliant read in the Bancroft family series. Hayes and Dixie meet at a house warming party for mutual friends and have an instant attraction to each other but when her friend tries to set her up with someone else she sneaks out with Hayes as her accomplise. They are perfect together and after a hot steamy night together neither can stay away. But it isn't long before family drama gets between them. Will they be able to work it out and get their hea? A must read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
The beginning of this book was hilarious! The description of meeting & the car ride in her rattletrap car had me laughing to myself but, about 2/3 of the way in it was repetative. After they get together, there's a problem and they break-up. Then they get back together and another problem occurs and they break-up again. After 4 break-ups & reuniting, it was getting boring. They never get together permanently, until the Epilog. Overall, I enjoyed the book--especially the first 4-5 chapters and the finale...I would recommend reading.
This was another book in the Bancroft Billionaire series by Ali Parker. This family can be counted on to supply a great story arc with so many interesting characters. Painting the mother as the bad guy was a new twist that I really liked. The spoiled rotten baby sister was unexpected, too. The importance of family was the central theme of this story. I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it for everyone.
Another very good addition to the Bancroft's world !
As always, this is a very well written and strong storyline, with great doses of emotions, family drama and angst. I really liked how they connected. Dixie and Hayes will have to work hard to get what their HEA; I wanted to reach into the book and strangle them sometimes lolll
Recommended book and series :)
I received a copy of this book from the author and leaving and honest and voluntary review.
A good story and entertaining read. This is a curvy girl meets a Bancroft bachelor. The story stars Dixie and Hayes. They meet by chance but she’s off limits. That attracts Dixie to Hayes like crazy. He’s alpha but also “i get what i want” kinda guy. Dixie shoots from the hip and takes no prisoners- she’s not shy or afraid to speak. Good story, their push/pull was a bit frustrating at times- you just want to shout at both of them, ‘enough, knock it off’ but what can you do.
Hayes is a Bancroft brother who wasn’t looking for love. He is a straight shooter and an accepting man. Dixie is a hard working woman who had some confidence issues. My heart went out to her because of how her parents made her feel. You definitely have to read to see what I mean. Ali Parker has written a fantastic book with endearing characters. I feel that the story got a little repetitive at points.
Ali Parker tells a story like no other. This is the story of Hayes and Dixie. It is one of the most emotion evoking story telling in the series. It has you glued from the first chapter to the end. I couldn’t put it down. It has all the elements of an enjoyable, entertaining read. Strong characters, strong family ties, and normal problems of everyday life. The reader becomes so invested in the story. Great Entertainment….A must read.
OUR FORBIDDEN LOVE AFFAIR A Bancroft Billionaire Brothers Novel by Ali Parker This is yet again another Bancroft novel that can be read as a standalone. It would be enjoyable to have the background of the earlier books, however. This is extremely well written, entertaining, has family drama, the chemistry is certainly combustible between Dixie and Haynes, there is the witty banter and the HEA we expect from one of Ali’s novels. This makes for a 5 star read.
