Vira is a young woman hunted in a post-apocalyptic underground society, and there's only one People are expendable. As events swirl out of their control, though, the deteriorating world of Haven that was once home gives way to the ever more dangerous blight of 'The Fringe.' Only here among outcasts, misfits, and freaks can Vira make a new beginning with the young man she's started to see as much more than a friend.


In a world ruled increasingly by instinct and fear, however, carving out that new start might not just be daunting. It might lead to death, and among all of Vira's enemies, one especially can't be HeLa, the artificial intelligence that once was a tool yet now sees itself as something else entirely…
