Hector
Oh Hector, what a sexy, smart, hottie you grew up to be...
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Hector is the third book in the 5th Street boxers series. In the previous books Hector was very young, cocky, explosive (that won't change too much) but here we get to see his growth. He matures into a young man who who will go a long way to make things right- even at the expense of himself. Charlee, is young woman who has moved to California to start over and while leaving behind a painful past. What ensues is a touching (sexy) story that I hope people will read.

I just want to add: This is the 9th book by Elizabeth Reyes and again she didn't disappoint. No wonder I'm such a fan girl over you! Thank you for writing great stories :) Keep 'em coming girl!

Me during the first half of the book : What an adorable little story with such a shy and sweet girl.

Hector : I love my freaky little girlfriend

Me during the second half of the book : Soooo... maybe she's not as sweet and innocent as first implied.

I feel bamboozled (sorry if I'm overusing this word lately). But in a good way, I think?

So, this chick has a sex toy fetish. I'm sort of jealous that I didn't know as much about them as she did at her age.

Was that TMI? Perhaps?

Let's backtrack. *rewind*

Elizabeth Reyes writes sweet romances with a little bit of added male testosterone. The men act like boys and the boys act like men. Let's put this into perspective - we're dealing with semi-professional boxers - that would be guys who beat the crap out of each other for fun. Of course there's going to be an extra dose of male protectiveness in the air. One thing that I do like about the way Ms. Reyes writes male characters is that she somehow manages to write these males as tough, fierce and sometimes edgy, but the sensitive nature always shines through. I don't feel like I'm getting bulldozed by pure testosterone encased in a package of solid 'roid rage. There's some balance to the overt manliness which I like. Hector was a believable male hero.
"I can hardly believe you're all mine," he whispered.

I adored the first half of this book. It was cute, sweet, fun, fluffy, and completely what I was in the mood for after the last book turned out to be somewhat annoying. This wasn't quite an enemies-to-lovers story, but more of an opposites-attracting-after-they-got-past-some-initial-misgivings (new category : activated). Charlee was an adorable female lead and her shyness only added to her charm, instead of distracting from it. When she finally got to a point where her heart started to become visible, I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her that it would be alright.
"You make me sad."

The second half had a few hiccups, however. I guess I could buy that a shy girl might have a closeted freak side. Although, is self-love really freaky? I didn't think so, but according to the book, it might be. Maybe in this case the concept was dealing more with a heightened awareness of what one wants. *shrug* I don't know. Just be glad I didn't saddle you all with the SEX TOYS OF DOOM pic that I had floating around in my head.

My issues were not many, but I was sort of confused about why everyone was all "do-goody." It's nice to see when people do good things, but between the 'making up for previous bullying,' the Special Olympics volunteering, the elderly home volunteering, etc. I was wondering who these young adults were and if I could somehow get one of them to come swap out for my kid.

And really...is chess the method we want to use to drive a plot? I can only imagine the stories these two will tell their grand-kids : Well, Mikey - your nana and I started having these feelings as we were facing off in a chess match. The way your nana stroked that pawn drove me wild.

My biggest "sigh" moment was probably the use of the word forever. This is not the first time I've seen the word in a Reyes book. Can we let the 18 year olds be 18 without trying too hard to foreshadow the future?

But whatever. Point is, this was a fun little love story. It worked for what I wanted to read in the moment, so that's good enough for me. And I got a blast from the past with this :
"Cinnamon Binaca. I didn't know people still used breath spray."

Technically, the first two books in this series are adult, but I've noticed that Reyes likes to mix it up with the age ranges in her series. This particular installment is NA, given the college age of the characters. I sort of appreciate the variety. In real life, families, friends, and co-workers do not always fall into the same age range.

One of my favorite aspects of reading NA is that the sex is not all about "get from point A to point b." Sure, we know we'll be rewarded with sex scenes by the end of the book, but I love the emphasis on foreplay first. It's not uncommon for young adults in that age range to play around with hands and mouths and body maneuvering in a way which stimulates and gets them excited for what's to come. All too often in adult books it's this hurried frenzy to get right down to it, then the sex becomes monotonous after a couple of times. By choosing to write in some foreplay scenes full of tension that come first, it only makes the deed that much sweeter when it does happen.

In fact, I think I liked some of the foreplay and 'other' play better than the actual sex scenes. One of the sex scenes was kind of awkward, I thought.

But anyway, I got another book checked off on this series. I'll be looking forward to Abel's story next and a return to 5th Street.

I've read every book by E. Reyes and it really saddens me to have to rate this story so low. I truly do enjoy her stories. However, this story fell flat for me. It was too long and I was bored a good portion of the book. I didn't feel a connection to the story or characters. A good portion of the story could have been cut out. Everything that happens in the last 20-30% should have happened in the first half of the book.

What I missed about the 5th Street gang:
1. I felt like Hector didn't quite live up to the Hector I met in books 1-2.
2. I missed the 5th street guys and their antics. They barely make an appearance.
3. The gym is mentioned here and there but, even that felt like it was missing its magic for me.

The book focused too much time on Hector feeling guilt over things that happened in HS. This causes himself to sacrifice his longing and feelings for Charlee. As for Charlee, she spends too much time with a jelly spine, making dumb choices and being closed off/hiding her true feelings. As for the cast of secondary characters, I didn't feel that they added much to the storyline either.

There were parts added to this book that didn't add to the story and possibly even took a bit a way from one of the characters. I also felt the ending was rushed.

That being painfully said, I will continue with the series to see what happens with Abel. (By far Gio is my still my favorite).

THE BEST IN THE SERIES SO FAR

I have to admit I was a little disappointed initially as I was hoping Abel's story would be next. But this far exceeded all of my expectations. The characters were fabulous as was the plot. Hector was the perfect leading man. Handsome, strong with a soft centre. Charlee was a sweet shy girl. Who was so easy to like. This is not an easy book to review without giving the story away, so I will just say that this is romantic passionate and moving. I loved every page. Plus the chemistry was electric. The love scenes were tender, emotional and sensuous. The connection between Hector and Charlee jumped off the page. All of the regulars of the 5th gym are featured. As well as newer characters, who just made the story perfect.

Up until this book, my favourite of the series had been Noah's story. But this just had that bit extra for me. A highly recommended read.

3.5. Elizabeth Reyes is a great writer. She writes with such a clear and honest voice. She has made these boys of 5th Street so adorably irresistible. The problem I have with this book is the character of Charlee. I really wanted to like Charlee but she behaves in such an immature manner - constantly jumping to conclusions and running away (or threatening to go home), it became annoying. She certainly has reason for her insecurities, but her unwillingness to give Hector the benefit of the doubt became tiresome. I really wanted to like her. I like that she is a chess genius. I like that she is both innocent and daring. She has the whole geek-chic going on. She is my kinda gal. Unfortunately, her bad behavior was disappointing and overshadowed her charm.

The second book of this author and I give up. I don't like the h pining for the H until the 70% of the book. Not for me.
Oh, and if you decide to be honest, don't lie to the H while telling him you don't like keeping secrets from him.

I'm addicted to the 5th street boys!

Hector, the baby of the bunch is now on a mission to make his big brother proud of him. This boy is something I was not expecting; he is smart, sexy and one hell of a chess player. Who knew that being a chess nerd would land him the love of his life? Hector sure didn't.

This story captured me, it had so much real emotion that I was hooked. From the bullying, to the mom with expectations for her boys, the wanting his "projects" love interest, and the emotion of first love. Hector and Charlee are truly meant to be, he shows a side of himself that is mature, confident and loving. He helps Charlee see herself in a positive light, she has issues with her self confidence and he does wonders for her. Its a struggle but he gets her there.

Charlee has the power to bring a man to his knees, sadly she doesn't see it. Her past is one that has left scars so deep, pain, doubt and fear that only one man can open her eyes. Its not easy but when one loves and loves deep there is no impossible. Charlee and Hector are adorable together, the introduction to Hector's world is something she never saw coming.

This book was refreshing and simply beautiful. Seeing the growth of both of these young love struck characters was heart warming. Can't wait to see what the future hold for them.

Out of all Elizabeth Reyes books this is the most surprising in such a wonderful way! As an author she has stepped out of her comfort zone to bring us a genuine story about a multicultural relationship.
Hector Ayala is the youngest partner of 5th Street Gym with mad boxing skills. As you can imagine he is handsome, built and can knock out his opponent with one punch. This automatically makes him HOT in my book. He’s also a player and pretty much unattainable. That is until sweet little Charlee comes along.
Charlotte Brennan “Charlee” is not what she seems at all. Yes she’s extremely quiet, yes she’s painfully shy but don’t let that fool you! Once she’s in her comfort zone especially around Hector let’s just say she has no problem showing Hector how she really feels about him.
I don’t want make this book sound like it’s all about the hot guy falling for the shy sweet girl because this book is much more that a sexy little read. It deals with real life issues like bulling, guilt and how those things can effect a person’s life.
Overall this is the best book in the series so far and I cannot wait for Abel’s book. I know that one going to top all the others!

Elizabeth Reyes does it again! She created another story that captivated my heart and had me at the edge of my seat gnawing on a No 2 pencil wondering what cat was going to be drug out of the bag next. And let me tell you - those cats were surprising as all get out.

Charlee is a super shy girl. She is so shy, that she was home schooled most of her life. She thinks that the reasons why she was shy were due to her extremely red and curly hair along with getting embarrassed whenever someone so much as said hi to her to where her face lit up like a red stop light. Now, she's in college, and she wants to start over, so her and her best friend Drew move to LA where they attend University and she participates in the Chess Club. She thought her life was going to be simple so she could avoid bringing other people into it. That is, until one day something shocking happened in which unknowingly would bring her closer to two guys: Walter and Hector. Sure, she knew who Walter was because he was in the Chess Club with her but they were just acquaintances but she had no idea who the sexy, hispanic, and drool worthy Hector was whatsoever and all she knew was that she was captivated by him.

This novel has many unexpected twists and turns. It isn't a love triangle novel in anyway but has the backbones of what may seem love triangle-like (except two of the people involved in the love triangle had no idea what was going on). So, if you're up for a story about when a girl meets a boy, they realize they like each other (but don't know that the other likes them back) but they can't be together (for reasons I wont tell you about so you better just pick up this novel and read it so you can find out) and it frustrates the hell out of both of them and then finally all of the secrets are revealed and then you get your HEA that you were dreading you wouldn't get because the story got so hairy for a moment you weren't sure it was going to happen, then READ THIS BOOK NOW! You will not be disappointed! And if you haven't read the rest of the 5th Street series then you should get started on that ASAPatory status! You'll love Noah and Roni's story as well as Gio and Bianca's story.

Hector was a great addition to the 5th Street series! In the other novels he got a bad wrap about not thinking before he did stuff and with this novel we get to see that there was more to him than his fists (or his one knockout punch). Although we get to see more of his softer side he is still 100% Alpha Male, 100% sexy, 100% swoon worthy, and I wish I could say he was 100% mine (but I think a feisty little redhead might have something to say about that).

This turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me.

After reading Making You Mine, my first and only book by Elizabeth Reyes - and not really liking it- I wasn't really planning on giving the author another shot.

After reading all of the rave reviews on this book, my curiosity finally got the best of me.

I truly enjoyed this one. Was it a typical NA angsty romance? Well, yes, it was. But it was still a fantastic story.

I was hesitant to continue to read it after the first introduction of Charlee. I am just not a huge fan of extremely shy, too innocent to believe and awkward heroines. But she turned out to be so much more. While she is shy, she has a backbone, and does show it at the opportune time. Also, turns out, she has quite an uhem...freaky side to her. She really gave new meaning to the adage that it's the quiet ones that you gotta worry about. I mean I gotta admit, when I read about their first time together, and Charlee had her reveal to Hector to reveal some things after...

Hector is as Alpha as they come. He is protective, possessive, and jealous. But not in an unbearable way (which is how I found Salavdor Moreno to be in Making You Mine, and hated it!)Did I mention he's also a boxer?

This was a very entertaining 4.5 stars for me. I will be picking up the other books in this series, since now I am curious if perhaps it was just the Moreno Brothers series that didn't quite work for me.

2.5 Stars!(Oh how I hate to see that!)

Ok first let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Reyes, she is one of my favorite authors in this particular genre. I have enjoyed all of her books, absolutely loved the Moreno Brothers series as well as the first two books in this series. Having said that I have to admit that this one was a bit of a disappointment.

I love the character of Hector but I think I would have liked to have had Abel's story first, it would allow for Hector to grow up a bit more. Of course with the glimpses we get of Abel in this story I am even more intrigued with his potential storyline. I also would have liked to see some more of the other 5th street boys, there just wasn't enough of Noah, Gio, Abel or Felix.

My biggest problem with this story really was the fact that it was way too drawn out, I'm not a huge fan of a romance that doesn't really get off the ground until almost the end of the book. By 60% I was seriously considering putting it down and not finishing it. I liked Hectors character, Charlee's character was okay but the fact that it took them so long to sort their crap and get together was exhausting.

I needed more. I truly hope that Abel's book does not do this same thing. I am still a huge fan of the series and am looking forward to the next book.

I'm such a huge fan of Reyes and love getting lost in her books. What woman wouldn't? The men in her world are off the charts bad-ass, sexy, alpha males who every woman dreams of! Her heroines are strong and independent and so easy to relate to! However, Hector's story really fell short. More than halfway through the book and Hector and Charlee still hadn't gotten anywhere. If it wasn't because I'm such a fan, I don't think I would've finished this book; it was that exhausting. With that said, I still look forward to reading more in this series as well as her latest Fate series. This may not be Reyes' best work but I still enjoyed catching up with all the other 5th Street Gym characters.

I was a bit disappointed as I thought Abel's story was next, but I was certainly not disappointed once I read Hector's story.

Elizabeth Reyes is a gifted storyteller. Her writing just flows. Even though I wasn't interested in the Chess playing aspect of the storyline, I was never bored.

I loved Charlee and Hector. Although they are only 18 and 19 and the book did have a YA feel because it is set around college life, they are both mature characters. The pacing of the story is spot on. We get to feel the chemistry between Charlee and Hector and when they get to act upon it, the love scenes are very sensual and well written.

Highly recommended.

I've read all of Elizabeth Reyes's books, and this is my absolute favorite. I love both main and supporting characters. I love the opposites attract. I love the chess connection! The middle was little angsty, but I don't mind that too much. The chemistry makes up for it.

★★★★★ 5TH STREET STARS

Alright if you've read the prior 2 books in the series Noah (book #1) and Gio(book #2,my personal fave) then you are familiar with Hector....if not go read them now and you will definitely be back to read Hector's story. Do you have to read the prior books to enjoy Hector? No but in the first 2 books you get to know him an you'll enjoy this story more with a bit background knowledge about Hector and the rest of the guys.

"Obviously, he was one of those types of guys. And those girls were those types of sluts"

Well I don't want to say too much about this book but man oh man Hector has sure grown up. Boxer, chess player, alpha male and all around ladies man Hector Ayala has picked up some tips from the 5th street boys..... And well... he has learned from the best. When it comes to girls he knows one things for sure- that there are plenty out there and there's never a need to move in on someone else's girl.

Charlee has moved to California to get away from her past- from everything and everyone....herself included. With the help of her best friend she has reinvented herself, new clothes, straight hair, make-up, the whole bit, but even though she's different on the outside, hurts and insecurities from the past aren't as easily covered up and made pretty on the inside.

Hector and Charlee are polar opposites, he is a cocky, tough, strong willed alpha, and she is shy, quiet, and innocent, but they have two MAJOR common denominators one being chess the other- Walter...

When Hector and Charlee meet she is instantly attracted to the tall dark and handsome guy that saved the day, Hector is also attracted to Charlee but doesn't really know what to make of or do with the feelings he has. First of all Walter has a 'thing' for her and with the past regret that Hector has involving Walter, he's not going there, and second she's not Latina, he's not racist or anything, oh no far from it but she's just different than what he is used to, and he's curious...intrigued.

I loved the buildup to their relationship, the awkwardness of Charlee and seeing both of them step out of their comfort zones, so to speak. Charlee had some issues she had to accept before she could truly move on with her life and Hector to had some choices he had to make in order to figure out who and what truly is important in life. Will they let their pasts dictate their futures or will they choose to accept what they can and cannot change and move forward?

FAVORITE QUOTES

"I know you like going at it long and taking it slow Charlee...but tonight you can indulge the new guy. Right? We can do it nice and slow another time" ~Hector

"I didn't mean to startle you or disrespect your friend...But you looked uncomfortable. I didn't like seeing you like that" ~Hector **Oh My Swoon!**

"Any girl who is okay with knowing she is not the only girl that's been in your bedroom that week or even month for that matter is not the kind of girl you want to be bringing home" ~ Carolina Ayala

I absolutely loved this book. Hector is my favorite so far out of all of the sth street guys. Also fell in love with Charlee. She is shy and sweet and is completely swept off her feet when she first meets Hector. Loved who much of a badass Hector is and he plays chess hot and smart what more could a girl ask for! Charlee recieves mixed signals from Hector and thinks they are on the same page when they share a kiss. However Hector feels guitly because his friend walter is hung up on Charlee and but he just can't resist her. He tells her that the kiss was a mistake and Charlee is left heartbroken. Before they get together there are some moments that the two share like when Charlee gets drunk and reveals to Hector her true feelings for him. After that night Charlee's best friend Drew confronts Hector at the 5th street gym trying to get to the bottom of why he won't be with Charlee. He tells Drew everything from the guilt he feels towards Walt as in high school his friends used to bully him and then when he didn't return to school thought the worst that he had commited suicide, to the fact that Walt has feelings for Charlee and doesn't want to hurt him again. Drew comes up with a plan to distract Walter with another girl so that hector can finally make his move on Charlee. Loved when Hector takes Charlee home to meet his mother and his friends, I thought his mother was pushy but sweet and that she didn't say anything about the fact that Charlee is white as his mother thinks her boys should stick to their own culture[they are mexican]. When they are alone things start getting heavy and Hector discovers but as thought it that Charlee is a virgin. When they sleep together there is no other word for it HOT! They become quickly engrosed with another and travel to compete in a chess tornament. Charlee meets her mum who trys to give her a letter from a guy called Danny who plays a disguisting trick on her bringing her to a party where she thinks he likes her but is horrified to find out that she has been set up and it's a dog party- whoever brings the biggest freak wins. The letter finds itself in her bag and she reads it on the plane and she can't believe that Danny would lie and say that Drew was a part in it, Drew is Charlee's one true friend but later discovers it is not a lie and we find out the reason Drew made her go to the party was because if she didn't topless pictures and a videotape would have been posted online. Drew begs Charlee to forgive her but then she finds texts on Drew's phone from Hector and she thinks that they are having an affair. This is not true the texts are from when Drew and Hector were getting Walt toghter with his now girlfriend Natalie. Drew phones Hector in the night sobbing as she thinks that Charlee would go straight to him, then he recieves a call from Walt telling him that he is an asshole for doing that to Charlee, he has no idea what Walt is talking about when Walt says that she is at his place and has cried herself to sleep but before told him about the texts. When Charlee wakes up Hector tells her and Walt everything from the beginning. Charlee forgives Drew because she truely does love her and knows that her frind didn't try to deliberately hurt her. The epilogue is sweet and hot, Hector and Charlee are on a cruise with the rest of the 5th street gang having finally sorted everything out. Loved when Hector calls her his freaky little girlfriend-they have sex on the top deck of the cruise ship again HOT. Can't wait to read Abel's story next, can't get enough of 5th street!

After the emotional roller coaster that was Gio I was a tad reluctant to read Hector even though he is my favourite of the 5th Street boys. Gio was a hard book to get through but I am pleased to report Hector was a much more satisfying read for me and had all the charm that the first book had, in spades.

Hector Ayala is the youngest of the 5th Street gang. He is cocky and abrasive yet also charming. He does not believe in settling down and has a reputation as a bit of a womanizer. However, Hector did not figure that he would meet a girl like Charlee, who is different from the many (many) girls he has known in the past. Charlee Brennan is a shy and somewhat reclusive college student. She has secrets in her past which have made her very wary of trusting men so when she meets Hector, although she is almost magnetically drawn to him, she doesn't know how to deal with the feelings he brings out in her. Hector is equally drawn to Charlee, although at first he cannot admit it. A boy that he knew in high school, Walter, also has feelings for Charlee and asks Hector for help in getting her to notice him. Hector feels guilty for something that happened to Walter in high school so he initially agrees to help Walter out.

Hector soon finds it difficult to keep away from Charlee and after they share a passionate kiss, he puts walls up to try and push her away. Charlee is hurt by his rejection and tries to act as though it doesn't bother her but the two find it difficult staying away from each other, especially since they are both on the same chess team (sexy or what lol). Things eventually come to a head and the two of them finally give into their mutual attraction. However, Hector's past and Charlee's insecurities soon rear their ugly heads. Will they be able to let go of the past and truly make a go of a future together?

This novel was a little bit more ya-oriented than the first two books in the 5th Street series (which makes sense given the ages of the protagonists) and the characters definitely acted a lot more immaturely at times. Some of the misunderstandings would have been sorted out a lot sooner if they had just sat down and talked to each instead of running away from each other. Still, I absolutely loved Hector (he showed a hidden softie side which I knew the boy had in him!) and Charlee was a sweet if somewhat quirky female lead .

I really enjoyed Hector and devoured it in one sitting. The characters were lovable and I was really rooting for them to get over their issues and make a go of it. I think Hector and Charlee really complemented each other well and their romance was sweet without being overly sentimental. I also liked seeing the other characters as well . I cannot wait to read Abel's story as he is for me the mysterious one that I haven't really gotten to know as well as the others (although I have a very good idea about who he is going to end up with - if the hints in this and previous books are to be believed!).

Four stars ****

Oh no, what, no more 5th Street fighters to read? I’m going to go through some serious withdrawal until Abel’s story is released! Hector’s story was another great read written by author, Elizabeth Reyes. Clap, clap, clap...

Hector, always the player in high school, never one to commit to just one girl, meets red-head, blue-eyed Charlotte Brennan. She’s quiet and shy, but he’s oh so tempted to go after her. Unfortunately, though for once, he’s trying to be the good guy. An old high school classmate, that was constantly bullied by Hector’s friends in the past, is infatuated with “Charlee”, which leads Hector to the conclusion that he just can’t act on those feelings. It wouldn’t be right to step on another guy’s, Walter’s, toes just to satisfy his raging libido. So, he steps aside, accepting Walter’s proposal to help him gain the girl, which also gives off mixed vibes where Charlee’s racing heart palpitations are concerned whenever she’s near Hector. He saves her more than once. He smiles beautifully at her, while not being able to stop glancing constantly in her direction whenever she’s around. And, when he touches her, it’s electric. Magic. She just doesn’t understand what is holding him back. She’s sure that he feels the same way that she does. When the truth finally surfaces, will he act on impulse or will he once more avoid committing to her exclusively?

I loved the storyline with the U.S. and college chess teams. Something different that I have yet to see in today’s New Adult genre. Who would suspect that a young muscle-ripped boxer would enjoy and participate in the game of chess? Highly unlikely. Hector, of course, was such a nice guy. As he got older, he was definitely maturing – trying not to get in physical fights with others; doing the books for the gym and compassionately caring about other people. He was a real sweetheart with that elusively contagious smile that made everyone just want to smile back. So infectious it was! And, Charlee, sometimes I felt a little sad for her. She had no idea just how beautiful outside, as well as inside, she actually was. Yes, she was quiet, and she was somewhat of a freak just as she described herself, but she was also supportive and loyal, a little honest (sarcasm...with a laugh), but by the end of the book, she was also more confident and definitely more trusting. Hector gave her the confidence to believe in herself respectfully. He was definitely in her corner, so to speak, because he deeply was infatuated with her innocence and, at times, her unpredictability. She was wildly sexual, and that just turned him on even more. They were a passionately stunning couple. Him with his Mexican dark good-looks, and her with her ivory skin and flaming red hair.

I was sorry for this story to end. So looking forward to reading the next book in this series, which focuses on Abel, Hector's older brother. He seems much more reserved and mysterious than Hector was. So, I’m curious as to what journey Ms. Reyes will lead his character on. I hope I don’t have too long a wait...

Okay, well, let me start by saying that Elizabeth Reyes is definitely one of my favorite authors. All of her series' will keep you riveted to the storyline. That being said, I must admit, that while reading Noah, and Gio was a thrill for me, I didn't expect to enjoy Hector as much. Of course, I knew Ms. Reyes would not disappoint, but Hector was one of my least favorite characters in the other two novels. I felt that he was a big mouth punk, who always stuck his foot in his mouth, and got everyone in trouble by spilling the beans over and over again. Of course, that was a ploy by Ms. Reyes to reel in her readers in this 3rd novel, because let me tell you fans, he did a complete 360 in this book!!! Hector turned into quite the swoon worthy, 6-pack, passionate, loving, crazed, mad, confused, masterpiece I've ever encountered.

In this book, the reader is introduced to the other side of Hector. The compassionate, self-sacrificing side. You see his conscience at work, trying to be an upstanding friend, and right the wrongs that happen around him. Hector befriends Walter, an overweight, shy, self-conscious guy who can't get a girl no matter how hard he tries. However, Hector whips him into shape and helps him become a strong character. Charlee is a very shy girl, unlike any girl Hector has ever gone after. Yet, her charms win him over, while he doesn't even realize what is happening to him.

This was an incredible journey, filled with the hurtful things that happen to young kids in life, things that can affect and shape the delicate psyche that can't be reversed. The knowledge that people have in their hands, and the responsibility for what they do with that knowledge, that makes or breaks another's heart and spirit. I thought this novel had a lot of life lessons. It made me mad, sad, mortified, happy, excited, thrilled, and elated. I loved this couple and their journey. They had to jump through a lot of hoops to get through to the other side, but every bit of it was worth it. Charlee found her mate, (in more ways than one.) Through all the chaos, misunderstandings, and the long, slow, tension-filled, sexually energizing attraction, that these two shared for one another, this book released climax after climax, by the time these two finally got together!

Again, I will have to tell Ms. Reyes's fans out there to get your Kleenex ready, because this is yet another hell of a whirl-wind ride your going to go on. It's almost as if you are blindfolded, not knowing where you've been, where you are going, or where you'll end up. Don't miss out on this ride of a lifetime. You won't regret it! Happy reading!!! I give this novel 5 out of 5 long, slow, passion filled, kissed stars!

Once again Elizabeth Reyes has created another must read. I was dying for this book to come out and damm it was well worth the wait. If you know me you know I'm a big fan of anything Elizabeth write and this was just as expected EPIC ;)

Charlotte aka Charlee has been home schooled most of her life due to the fact that she never fit in or had any friends apart from her BFF Drew , you see Charlee has bright red hair and freckles and bright blue eyes. every time she did try public schools it never worked out for her, and after her last attempt which left her broken hearted Drew convinces her it's time for a change a new start and a new college. There she meets Walter who I loved from the Start and she also meets Hector after he saves Walter from some bullies, Hector melted my heart straight away.

The attraction between Charlee and Hector is instant at least for Charlee , for Hector it was confusing at first cus he didn't understand why he was so drawn to her. But when he finally realises sparks fly but it's not as simple as everyone might think, there is a big thing that is stopping Hector from making his move, even though every bone in his body wants her she is forbidden fruit lol. So what happens, we'll read it and find out lol

I loved all the characters in this book Hector (Mr muy caliente) who was too hot to handle he was a sexy fighter and he really does have a heart of gold as well. Then there Is Charlee. ( love that name for a girl) who was very shy but damm did this girl surprise the hell out of me especially towards the end of the books she surprised me so much I nearly dropped my iPad damm, she was full of secrets and some very hot secrets. Then there was Walter the chubby kid that Hector knew from high school but where not friends back then but became friends in college. I loved him too he was so damm sweet and I bet you when he loses all that weight working out with Hector he will be a looker :) then there was Drew I loved Drew from the start too she was so supportive of anything Charlee did always by her side but it came to a part where I wanted to slap the crap out of her for what she did but then all was explained and forgiven and she became once again the best friend I loved. I loved hearing from all the other 5th street team NOah and Roni and Gio and Biannca. Btw this book was very hot hot even without speaking Spanish which I loved since I speak Spanish I love hearing it spoken in books I love.

I loved every second of Hector and Charlee's journey, each chapter kept me wanting more and more and before I knew it the ride was over. Elizabeth draws you in with every word she writes, I recommend this book to everyone. LOVED IT

I do love Elizabeth Reyes’ stories, I know what to expect and I haven’t been overly disappointed yet. Sure, some are better than others, but I am pretty much swept away in her world every time.

This story is about Hector and Charlee. We have met Hector in the previous 5th Street novels – Noah and Gio and I would really recommend reading this series in order. You will have the background on the rest of the 5th Street guys…oh h and you wouldn’t want to miss out on Noah and Gio….sigh! Pure sweet and sexy indulgence.

I’ve been looking forward to Hector’s story for a while and overall I was not disappointed. However, I do feel that this instalment was missing something; perhaps it was the fact that the rest of the gang wasn’t in it much, 5th Street didn’t really feature also Hector seemed slightly different not as cheeky and sarcastic and I felt at certain times in the story that events were mentioned we should have really known about or been told of as dedicated readers. I felt that part of Hector’s story focused too much on one element which I won’t spoil and this made the story drag at times.

Despite those issues I enjoyed it as the quality of the writing and the way in which this Author writes her heroes is just perfect and swoon worthy.

Right, so our heroine Charlee is a gorgeous freckled redhead, a sweet and innocent girl who is starting afresh at college with her friend Drew. Charlee is shy and timid with a humiliating secret she is running from. She immerses herself in the words of chess and competitions.

Hector is running from guilt, trying to rectify past mistakes and trying to not let the guilt determine his future by making it up for it.

Hector and Charlee meet through a mutual friend and a poignant situation and instantly there is something there, well for Charlee anyway who immediately recognises her feelings. For Hector it takes a while longer as she is not like any of his many typical conquests.

I loved the relationship between Hector and Charlee and the whole message of how Love decides where to make a home.

Now bring on Abel’s book…I cannot wait!

I want my own Hector! I loved this book! I like all the guys Elizabeth Reyes writes, and Hector is no different. Except, I maybe even liked Hector more. In this 5th Street novel, we have Hector and Charlee. If you've read Noah and Gio, then you know Hector. If you haven't, then read those first because they're good, and you get a great background with the rest of the crew. Anyways, Hector is a tough, sexy, Mexican-American boxer/chess genius. Charlee is a sweet, innocent lady that Hector meets through chess and Walter. And Charlee is not who Hector ever expected to be interested in. She's not like his usual girls. She's not the kind of girl you just "see" once, she's the forever kind of girl, and she's also not a Latina. And suddenly, she's all that Hector wants. But how is he ever going to get to know Charlee if he's constantly reminded of how Walter feels about her? And Charlee is dealing with her own messed up social past, especially with men. How is it possible that someone as great as Hector could be in to her? Okay, Hector is HOT! I think I've already covered my love for him though. I liked Charlee, and I appreciated how she was able to keep trying, even though she was so afraid. Walter was frustrating (He's someone Hector knew from high school). I get why Hector felt the way he did towards him, but I was also clenching my jaw with him at times. Grrr. Drew was awesome, and I'm hoping to maybe see more of her in the future?? It was great to see a little update with Noah and Roni (loved them!), and Gio and Bianca (melt!). I can't wait to read Abel's story next, and I think we know who it's gonna be with ;)

This book was a good (not quick) read, but not a book I will probably re-read. It is my least favorite of the Elizabeth Reyes books so far and here's why: it reads very young adult for me, and there was a huge contrast between the ages of the characters, their actions and their emotions. It took more than half the book for the two main characters to actually form a relationship and then the "I love you" and sex came out of nowhere.
Also, although I liked Hector's thought process most of the time, I disliked his actions, and, in my opinion, actions show more of who you are then thoughts.

I really liked this book just as much as the previous 5th St. novels. There's something about opposites who attract that appeals to me greatly. Charlee and Hector were just that. Charlee is a shy, awkward chess geek with little social skills but with the undercover personality of a sex kitten mynx! Hector is a fine ass boxer who's smart, plays chess but doesn't do commitment while he enjoys the ladies very much. I found these two had great chemistry and their sexual tension was executed very nicely. I also loved the sexiness in this story where I seriously had some 'cougar' tendencies about Hector. LOL There weren't as much immature remarks or banter in this book compared to the first 2 books. So, it was also nice to see how the 5th Street boys have grown up into mature, young, responsible men. I look forward to reading Abel's story.

I have to say that I really enjoy this author and was anticipating Hector. I couldn't wait to see the brooding man he was going to become. Unfortunately it just fell flat. I believe a lot of it was because of Charlee. She honestly annoyed the heck out of me and came off so weak. I understand she was shy, very antisocial and hermit like but it was just too much. I had no connection to her at all. Hector on the other hand had a nice development throughout the book.
The story overall was enjoyable but it was a little slow to get things going between Hector and Charlee. Then towards the end it was bam and done. Don't get me wrong i will be reading the other books as soon as they come out just like I did with the other two series (since I have read every book). I like the authors writing style but I couldn't get into this one as much. I still like you Hector don't worry :-)
