Little Milo is sad. All of his brothers and sisters have special talents, but he has not yet found his. His mom and dad assure him that they love him just the same and to be patient. When the time is right, he will find his talent. Then one day danger appears. In the moment, Milo reacts and soon his special gift is revealed. What is it? You will have to read the book to find out!
Milo Mettlewick: A Tale From Roo's Garden is pure magic. A story about love, acceptance, patience and finding your way, the beautiful artistry and heartwarming story of little Milo will make the perfect addition to any child's library!
The author does a wonderful job bringing Milo and his family to life and even made me fall in love with the cute little mice....at least for the length of the story :) As always, the book comes with fun facts about field mice and tips for mice in the garden. I can't say enough about the artwork and the story and look forward to adding more books about the critters in Roo's garden to my collection!
My daughter and I read this as a bedtime story and absolutely loved it. Even adults can get takeaways from children's book.
I appreciated Milo's story. It's easy sometimes to feel less than when you see the great talents of others..... Some talents are obvious, some are forced, other just take time to appear.
Be gentle with yourself.
The "How can I help" and "Did you know..." sections at the end are a great addition to the story.
This is such a cute addition to Roo’s garden! We loved the message about how everyone has a special talent, even if it’s not super showy or obvious. My kindergartener thought it was very silly that Milo has such a big family! The illustrations are gorgeous and so sweet for young readers. Definitely recommend this story for families with young kids!
If you're familiar with Roo, you know her books take us on adventures, help us learn new skills, and some even help us go to sleep.
Jane has worked her magic again with the Roo's Garden series. In her beautifully illustrated books, we are introduced to 5 new friends for Roo (Ruben Redfeather, Felix Fleetfoot, Milo Mettlewick, Otto Oakwood, and Hugo Hazelwood).
In each book, a new friend makes a mistake, underestimates him or herself, or has misplaced confidence. Along the way, Roo's new friends learn about friendship, helping others, appreciating the outdoors, or admitting when they are wrong. These are wonderful books for young children to gently learn life lessons.
Roo is a lucky pup to have so many new friends in his garden!
I highly recommend Roo's Garden books for young readers and their grownups.
I was provided with a #gifted copy of these ARCs in exchange for an honest review.
