When Dr. Raya Xander arrives in Ana, Alabama, she’s going to do more than turn heads.

With a tragic past and a vision for the future, Raya arrives in the small town of Ana, Alabama, determined to spur an economic revival with a medical center and business park. She quickly draws the attention of Detective Joshua Boseman, who’s assigned to oversee the protection of her venture.

The town of Ana has its share of problems, and not everyone is so eager to see its rapid change. Crime, suspicious cops, and the painful history of what happened in this town all stand in Raya’s way. She’s used to counting on her twin brother Luther, best friend Aurora, and close friend Dorian, but when revealed secrets come between them, it seems like everything’s falling apart.

But Raya has a personal reason for wanting to make a difference in Ana. And when it comes to this destiny, she won’t back down.

Asseveration is the first book in the Twenty-Two romance series, an emotional story of big dreams, overcoming the past, and the search for love.

OMG, the twist that kept coming, and then we are left on a cliffhanger. I need to know if the FMC gets her HEA. I love how this is a powerful book about black love and giving back to the community. I'm not even sure if this is a genre I've read before romance mystery/romance drama... but I need more and can't wait for book two.

⚫️Lisette Janelle's debut, Asseveration, launches the Twenty-Two series with a bang, mixing romance, suspense, and small-town charm in a way that draws you in from the beginning.

⚫️Get to know Dr. Raya Xander, a dynamic heroine who's not only intelligent and ambitious but also sincerely committed to changing Ana, Alabama. Her vision for restoring the town with a new business park and medical center is ambitious as well as personal. Janelle does an excellent job of developing Raya's character, introducing us to a woman who has experienced tragedy but remains committed to her cause.

⚫️And then there's Detective Joshua Boseman, who provides an interesting twist to the tale. The romance between him and Raya is sweet and fiery, but it's the conflict between their personal agendas and the impending threats that really propels the story forward. The supporting characters particularly Raya's twin brother Luther, her best friend Aurora, and the ever-loyal Dorian add warmth and authenticity, making the emotional tension feel all the more genuine.

⚫️Janelle's prose is absolutely excellent as she expertly weaves together romance and suspense with healing, ambition, and self-discovery themes. The Ana town almost seems like it is a character itself tormented by its past, uncertain about change, but full of potential. Raya's obstacles make you want to keep reading, and the twists are pleasing and surprising.

⚫️Asseveration is not only a romance; it's a story of strength and change, of chasing dreams despite the darkness of the past. Fans of sentimental romances with a rich storyline will be hooked on this first book and wanting to know where the Twenty-Two series is headed next.

⚫️This book comes highly recommended for anyone who appreciates stories with depth, heart, and a heroine who won’t be overlooked.

Happy reading ❤️✨

Who are they?

Destiny and Mr Officer, or is it Raya and Josh? Their story builds into a slow burn with international travel, mentorship, misplaced emotions, and bonds fractured. Looking forward to reading the second installment!

There were several significant details that didn't make sense. Plus, the "twenty-two" references were such minor parts of the story that it's unclear why that's part of the title.

Wow! So I thought starting this that it was going to be a nice cozy slow burn between a rich entrepreneur and a detective, but I was very mistaken in that assumption. Not only were there some seriously tear jerking moments, but the twists were wild. I didn’t see a lot of what happened coming and I was pleasantly surprised with this book! I look forward to reading book 2 after that ending!
