Myth of Omega: Wrath #2

Sins of His Wrath

Rate this book
Bound to an enemy who refuses to let her go.

Naya’s escape from the ruthless Alpha King, Akoro came at a devastating cost. Her people are on the brink of war, her kingdom stands vulnerable, and no matter how far she runs, the primal hunger between them refuses to fade.

It haunts her. Consumes her.

And when Akoro finally comes for her, his ultimatum is as cruel as the man surrender or watch him tear her world apart.

Desperate to stop the bloodshed, Naya makes a daring offer—one that should satisfy any ruler with a shred of reason. But Akoro is no reasonable king.

He is as vengeful as he is possessive.

And nothing will distract him from his need to claim her.

With each clash of wills, their desire turns sharper, darker—an intoxicating struggle neither can escape.

Naya refuses to yield. Akoro refuses to let go.

Can she save her people—and herself—or will she break under the brutal will of the mate she can never outrun?

“Do not," he growled, “call anyone handsome in my presence.”
“Don't be ridiculous," she said, but her voice betrayed her, coming out breathier than intended. "It's an animal, your animal.”
“I don't care if it's a fucking rock!" he bellowed, hunching over her, his eyes dark. *swoon* 😍

Love these books, but Zoey- PLEASE FIND YOURSELF A GOOD proofreader!! Each time I run across a typo it takes me out of the story. So many of your books have this same problem- I just don’t understand why you haven’t fixed it yet.

OMG, Book 2 Was Worth the Wait!

Naya’s daring escape to warn her family is just the beginning—she’s torn between her duty to her people and the undeniable pull of her Omega instincts, still craving Akoro. Meanwhile, Akoro is left reeling from the loss of his mate, struggling with the aftermath of her departure.

When these two finally reunite, the tension is electric! Naya is forced to make a bold move, not only to protect her empire but also to uncover a way to save Akoro’s kingdom from the devastating magic storm. Their push-and-pull dynamic will have you on the edge of your seat, screaming at both of them to just admit they both screwed up and figure out how to work it out! Akoro is slowly learning how to be the mate Naya deserves, but she can’t ignore the scars of his past actions.

And just when you think you can breathe… BAM! That cliffhanger hits, and you’ll be launching your Kindle across the room, desperate for more. I NEED the next book ASAP!

Torn between Duty and Passion... Princess Nayara is struggling to come to terms with a tragedy in her past and live up to the expectations of her Kingdom responsibilities. While she has the warrior skill and the magical ability, she doesn't trust in herself to lead confidently. On the other hand there is the Leader of the Sy Dynasty, Akoro. He is fighting for his people's survival in a realm that has been devastated by the wild magic. There is nothing he wont do to find a way to ensure their prosperity and his focus is on her. The passion between them is explicit. But so is the tension. With two such dynamic characters, their interactions are sometimes harsh and uncaring and sometimes more sexual and intimate.

Fan-tanbulous! Loved it! The MCs don't lose the complexity of their personalities as the plot develops. The world building continues to grow in richness and diversity. What I really enjoy is that having read many other omegaverse novels, this author has managed to balance the Alpha/Omega dynamics. Although, obviously, the omega is weaker physically, she has strengths that the Alpha lacks, which once acknowledged makes for a perfect union, if only each could get past their distrust of the other.
The level of steam/smut, whatever, is congruent with the story. I didn't find myself skimming huge swaves of erotica to get to the meat of the story. I enjoyed every moment and read every line. The relationship between the MCs is real. The chemistry is all there. The action, the angst, the hurt, and the love (which neither acknowledge).
I'm ready for book #3.
Note to author: no matter how much blowback you get, take your sweet time to get the next instalment out there. Although I'd like to read book #3 like yesterday, the quality of your writing shouldn't be comprised. It's too good! I'm happy to wait 🙏

I'm so frustrated because I didn't like this book as much as the first.

Naya escaped at the end of book 1 and used magic to transport herself back to her father's castle, destroying part of Akoro's capital city in the process.

So the beginning 1/3 of book 2, the main characters are separated. Akoro is still planning his invasion, while also dealing with the destruction in his capital.

Naya first has to save herself from the magic she used to make the portal. She learns from an Omega elder that she can send it over a long distance back to the Wasteland. She also has to use healing magic to stop her face from bleeding. So she's learning she is more powerful than she thought.

She has a very weird, and very long, discussion with her mother. Her mother says maybe she should get back together with Akoro, because when he tortured her, he didn't know they were mates. (Except that's not true, because he knew they were mates when he cut up her face.) Naya is like, "WTF, Mom?" Mom reveals that her mate, Naya's father, had abused her, but they got back together and now they're happy. And abuse is just something that Alphas sometimes do to omegas, but abusers can change. (Naya's parents have their own story in the book "Crave to Conquer.") Naya says no, she's really intent on just killing Akoro and not giving him a second chance.

So the Lox plan to defend against the upcoming invasion, and wait for Akoro and his army to show up.

When he finally shows up, when he tries to reach for Naya, she puts magic around his arm and threatens to shatter his arm, showing her power.

Naya then tries to broker a peace deal. She offers to restrain their "bad magic," then they won't need to take over the Nox kingdom. Akoro isn't willing because he's hell-bent on revenge. This confirms to Naya that he's a bad person, because any ruler in their right mind would try to avoid war, but Akoro just wants war and revenge at any cost. He doesn't care about his people's wellbeing.

He agrees to let her come back to his kingdom for 2 weeks, and if she finds a way to control the magic, THEN he will actually negotiate. But during the 2 weeks, she goes back to the same conditions (as his sex slave). She's like, "If you're trying to scare me off, it won't work. Princesses whore themselves out for their kingdoms all the time."

I'm wondering why she doesn't just shatter his head like she was going to do with his arm, and be done with him. And when I think "Why doesn't she just kill him," it's time for me to DNF.

Maybe the problem is me. I just don't think I can read an entire long trilogy just to see if this asshole has even one redeeming quality. I wish the author would give me SOMETHING, but Akoro is an emotional wasteland. Why does he even give a shit if he has a mate, if it doesn't make him FEEL something??

This book spends an awful long time trying to make the reader forgive and forget the terrible things that happened in the first book. Trying to "abuse isn't that bad actually" the reader into believing that the ML, who said this to the FL:

"If you choose not to help us, your corpse will lead that charge. Decayed, carved up, with your cunt fucked raw and ripped open, your womb mutilated, and your limbs hollowed. Your corpse will show your empire that their most prized possession could not be saved. Their most powerful Omega was too weak to withstand the Sy Dynasty. Their terror will ease our way."

who did this twice:

"Naya clawed at her torso, trying to find a way to rip the damn fabric off, but there wasn’t any way to loosen it. A dull pop rocked through her torso, sending an intense pain through her body. Naya staggered, clutching her side. He’d just snapped one of her ribs."

...and this:

"At once, she realized what he was doing. Everyone escaped into their tents to avoid this heat, yet he’d secured her to a rock to endure it, like a sacrifice to the sun during the hottest peak of the day.
And he was enjoying the sight of her torture."

All while actively trying to kill everyone she loves, burn down her home, and erase her people's history and culture, is actually just a chill guy if you get to know him.

The abuse-apologist nature of the mother is frightening, to say the least. Just because he would threaten to rape and mutilate an innocent princess doesn't mean he's a bad mate, he's just driven according to dear old mom. He just didn't know you were his mate, don't be ridiculous!

On top of it all, this book did not need to exist, it's filler and bad filler at that. "Hey instead of me explaining basic history, let's take half a day's horse ride to this location only for me to say nothing, and then we need to head back." Extend that to like 22 chapters and you have this book. It realistically has about 5 chapters of plot development and 0 apologies from the ML.

I’ve been waiting for this book for so long! Thank God the next one will be out it couple of months!

Comparing to the other omegaverses this one feels subdued? And you won’t find me saying this a lot - I was hoping it would be longer.
The book.
Get your mind out of the gutter!

I wouldn’t have minded things being more complex or indepth because I do like this story and having read all the previous books in this world, Im eager for more.
I feel like Im so invested in this storyline, that I just want more of everything- their relationship, dynamic and evolution, world build as we are in completely different lands now, that have rich culture, traditions that I would have liked to learn more about.
I don’t feel that there was a massive shift in their relationship, its as fragile as it was at the end of the first book. Their understanding of each other seems to be more linear and slowly changing, not as intense as the other couples before them.

And the ending - are we getting The Mothers v2.0?! Gods I hope not. Those old bats can rot.
And apparently they are, he he. Except for Mother Freya. Why do the most feistier people live the longest? 🙄 couldn’t we get the more reasonable one until the end? No. They always die off first.
Lesson for life - be the annoying, angry and bitter bitch from the bunch and you will out live any motherfucker.

****
Then his voice came—softer this time, contemplative. "Does that mean I have a chance?

Aww Akoro you made me gush 🥺😍 you have all the chances you want baby boy ❤️

The second installment was better than the first in terms of plot and relationship building..I will 100% say I really need “in the moment” scenes when they bang. Like the scene in the desert before the magic happens. THAT WAS AMAZING. That was perfect example of in the moment scene vs when she does a distance recap of the days and a vague “she woke up and he was already inside her, he took her all morning until he spent. That night he took her again, and the next morning.”

Like give us 3 in the moment scenes in the whole book vs multiple and plenty vague pass over recaps. Pleaee it’s so important for us to get those intimate moments

But let me say aside from my grievances over the romance aspect, this author is absolutely brilliant in her plot. I am so
Incredibly impressed with her intricate weaving of plot and twist.

I just need her to stop grazing over their banging and all would be good 😂😂

Ps HES THE ALPHA ABOVE ALL ALPHAS. He’s my book alpha through and through this author’s can fucking write an alpha

The continuation of Akoro and Naya's story brings us back to not only the Lox Empire and the Sy Dynasty but to where the banished Omegas of the Sands reside.

Naya and Akoro are once again at odds. While Naya plans to seek a solution to the troubles that the Sy Dynasty faces, the malicious magical vortex that continues to consume the land, Akoro wants only one thing. To keep Naya with him, even if it means delaying the inevitable.

I have high hopes that Naya will succeed in either stabilizing the wild energy that traverse across the Sands, or completely destroy it. There's so much history embedded in Akoro's culture, that it would be a loss if they all simply left their homeland and ventured to the Lox Empire.

I'm anxious to see where Naya's new journey takes us, and what it means to both Akoro and Naya once they reunite again. Would it be before the nnin-eellithi storm blazes its way through?

Tropes : omegaverse, magic, fated mate, cruel H, royal couple, enemies to lovers, h kidnapped by H, J/P H, body betraying syndrome, dark romance
Ending : cliffhanger
Triggers : mention of💀 of loved one, torture, slight gore
Spice : 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Angst : 🔥🔥🔥/5
OM/OW drama : yes (h’s colleague(?))
Intimacy details: no condom, rough sex, oral
Standalone/Series : book 2/3

Hero : Akoro Sy (late 30s to early 40s?)
Heroine: Nayara Andaus (25)

This picked up where last book left off. Naya was back at her kingdom and was informing her parents about Akoro’s plan towards her kingdom. I was frustrated with Akoro, wanted to punch him a lot of time throughout the book. He was very possessive towards Naya and didn’t want to let her go by any means necessary.

Sins of His Wrath picks up directly after the edge-of-your-seat finale of Scars of His Wrath, and it delivers an even darker, more emotionally explosive ride. Naya escapes—but at devastating cost. Akoro’s hunger isn’t dulled by distance; if anything, his demands grow more brutally consuming as war looms.

The stakes are higher, the world-building intricately pursued, and the emotional stakes absolutely shattering. Ellis doesn’t retreat from the harsh realities of dark romance—this is manipulation, obsession, and raw power in full display—but she also deepens the complexity of both leads and we finnaly see Naya and Akoro speaking and bonding more.

Zoey does it again! As always Zoey provided us with a riveting, incredible story. Bursting with unuiqe magic, political intrigue, angst, and heat. The world building is wonderful. You'll find yourself both scowling at and yearning to understand our Alpha, Akoro. Princess Naya isn't someone to underestimate, she's a force to be reckoned with. She is powerful, beautiful, complex, strong, and she's about to show this Alpha what it means to fall to his knees.

Is it June yet?? These cliffhangers kill me in all the best ways.

Naya and Akoro have this Omega and Alpha thing going on in the bedroom, but out of it... pure enemies.

In this book, you find out more backstory on both of them, especially Akoro.

I'm a sucker for these books and the push pull of their strong personalities!
They're both warriors and stubborn to a fault.

I really can't wait for the next book!!

Akoro was the most vicious character-easy to hate, even when you get to know what drives him. Naya is so willing to do whatever it takes to save her people that she suffers all he dishes out. And the unstable magic of the land creates a stressful adventure with a usual cliffhanger to bridge you through to the next book!

Cliffhangers are so brutal! Naya is trying desperately to save her kingdom and solve their issues. We get some more world building and hints at what is really going on with Akoro. I was sucked right in only to be dropped at the ending. Cliffhangers are the worst! The next one comes out in June and I cannot wait!

You would think second book doesn’t live up to the first… nope! This one was absolutely as awesome as first book.

Akoro is freaking awesome and I love how great Naya is. You can see the personality aspects of her father in her. She’s not a pushover, but she has her vulnerabilities due to her designation being an omega. It was a perfect balance.

I cannot say more how much I love this series!

The part about the phases lagged. Too many repetitive transitional phrases and thoughts. And the constant grammatical errors have me so irritated! GET A BETTER EDITOR, OR USE TWO!!!! They’re actually getting worse when they should be getting better.

Despite my complaints, I still enjoy this series. This book in particular just didn’t flow as easily as the first of the trilogy: 3.5 stars.

4⭐️ - I loved it

Zoey Ellis can do no wrong. Another great omegaverse book! I loved that there was more focus on the loving relationship between the main characters in this book. This made it a unique piece in the book series. Can’t wait for the final book!

Equally thrilling sequel!! This books flows from book 1 and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Giving Akorro backstory along with Naya is helping build the next phase of their relationship. Not only theirs but the trust of the council. Lots of twists and I’m here for it.
