The FINAL NOVEL in the bestselling SIX PACK RANCH series by New York Times Bestselling Author Vivian Arend. ------------- There’s no distance you can run to escape the past.
Too stubborn to face his sins, Jesse Coleman bolted from the Six Pack Ranch, only to fall straight into the arms of a beautiful stranger. Twelve hours later, the seductive firebrand is nothing but a whiskey-laced memory—but one powerful enough to convince Jesse tracking down his elusive lover is worth the effort.
Darilyn Hayes figured it was her lucky night when the sexiest cowboy in Alberta interrupted her annual drink-until-I-fall-over wake. At least until four weeks later when she discovers she’s pregnant and her one-night-stand is nowhere to be found. Still, as she’s shared with her devoted blog readers, Dare has dealt with life’s not-so-gentle surprises before. She’ll make it on her own.
When an internet picture gone viral leads to their reunion, Jesse’s floored by Dare’s news. She’s very clear she’s not looking for a commitment, but screw that. He’s going to do the right thing by her and his unborn kid. The fact they lit the sheets on fire is a bonus, but with a baby on the way, both their lives are gonna change.
Jesse’s got a ton of family to reconnect with, including his estranged twin. Dare holds family loosely—even though she loves them—because she knows too well how fragile life can be. Between her and Jesse, they’ve got enough baggage to open a store.
But they still have a shot at forever—if they’re willing to fight for it.
This final novel in the series contains the following: A sexy, dirty, cocky-as-hell prodigal son Coleman with massive bridges to rebuild. A woman able to see to the heart of the matter yet bold enough to speak the truth. A family of extraordinary resolve and endless love. A wedding or two. And babies—oh lordy, the babies…
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Vivian Arend loves to share the products of her over-active imagination with her readers. She writes contemporary, western, and light-hearted paranormal romances. The stories are humorous yet emotional, usually with a large cast of family or friends, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. Vivian lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her husband of many years—her inspiration for every hero and a willing companion for all sorts of adventures.
So the last of the Coleman boys finally meets his match and can I say what a wonderful ending to the series this is. It was obvious that cocky Jessie would need not just an average female but one who would challenge him and certainly Dare is up for the job. They may have just one night of no holds barred passion but four months later and still Jessie can't forget the red head who stole his breath. For Dare it's not that easy as she's tried to find her sexy cowboy but her reason ? Well that's about to come out whooping and hollering in about five months! Yes Dare is pregnant but she doesn't expect anything permanent just a little financial help now and then would be fine so when Jessie walks back into her life the last thing she expects is a proposal! Whoa there cowboy let's just be friends and see where that takes us is Dare's attitude but a hot determined Coleman is very hard to resist! I don't know how the author did it but this book was fabulous. Funny, emotional, sexy, poignant and at times very steamy. It encompasses so many of the Colemans we have come to know and love and simply ups the ante with the beautiful children they have. Yes expect numerous babies to melt your heart. Plus I admit I shed a tear as it's simply beautiful when Jessie finally realises what he's always wanted ( even if he didn't know it) is right there for the taking. Warm and satisfying and I heartily recommend this series to romance readers who like cowboys, saucy times and meddling but loving families. This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and opinions are honest and I believe fair
I was enjoying this one til they left her ranch to visit his family's ranch at about 50%. Then it became boring and his family is annoying. I just couldn't connect with any of them. Their strange insensitivity and pushiness was very off-putting. There's lots of suggested tension about the reason Jesse left the ranch a year ago without talking to any of them. It was belabored to the point where I just didn't care what the reason was. I still don't know.
I would still read this author again as I have really enjoyed other books by her. It's just hit and miss for me.
As happy as I am to FINALLY have Jesse’s story, it is a bit bittersweet since this is the final novel in the Six Pack Ranch novel, but for the last hurrah Ms. Arend did a wonderful not only with Jesse’s story, but with coming full circle with the series and ALL of characters we’ve come to love. It was a fun, smexy read that brought out all the feels and despite knowing this is the final one, had me wanting to spend more time with the Coleman clan.
Jesse, Jesse, Jesse. I spent the mass majority of the time while reading Rocky Mountain Rebel and from there forward wanting to smack the man-boy upside the head. And after finding out what all really went on, the urge grew stronger. But so did the need to see him get his head out of his ass, man up and heal the rifts he caused. And boy does he grow up here. True, he had a surprise kick in ass with finding out fatherhood was coming up sooner than he’d expected, but this Jesse is caring, compassionate, protective and charming ~ I know that escaped him for a while, but it’s back. Jesse the man/soon to be daddy is an amazing person and I loved seeing that side come out and finally put the boy to rest.
Dare. I ADORED Dare. The only way I can truly describe her without babbling all over the place is to say that if you were to look under the definition of Moxie in the dictionary her picture would be there as an example. She’s someone I’d love to be friends with in real life. She’s hasn’t led a picture perfect life, and she’s struggled, but she appreciates all that she has and has a pretty pragmatic outlook on life and what she wants for herself and those she loves.
From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed Dare and Jesse’s journey. I loved their flirting and bantering and how they dealt with the surprise pregnancy and through it got to know each other inside and out. But what I loved seeing was how Dare helped Jesse to own up to what caused the rift and then let it go. She gave him exactly what he needed to move on, while he also help to fill the holes in her heart and
It’s a little bittersweet to know that this is the last book in the Six Pack Ranch series, but at least we aren’t leaving that world totally behind and who knows there may be another spin off considering how fertile the Coleman clan is. As for the Stone family, it’s a toss up between Caleb and Luke right now as to who is my fav, but I cannot wait to get to know them all along with everyone else at the Silver Stone ranch!

AND BABIES. That warning in the blurb doesn't lie. The Colemans are a prolific bunch and they're not afraid to get physical with their special someone. So there are babies. SO MANY BABIES. (It's GLORIOUS!)
But this book isn't entirely about babies (although they do play a starring role). This book is about Jesse and Dare and family and finding forgiveness. Jesse was a wreck when we last saw him. He was beating himself up and making everyone's life tough because of it. From his perspective, running was the only way he could free himself from the pickle he found himself in.
Except, as he finds out when he FINALLY returns home, there are other ways to deal with problems besides running. It takes him a while, but that lesson eventually sticks. But then, Jesse had some growing up to do and Dare and her little surprise gave him the push he needed to do exactly that.
I LOVED seeing so many familiar faces. Those Colemans live hard and love harder and it was SO FUN to watch their big, sprawling family welcome Dare into the fold. And all those babies. They were welcomed, too.
I'm sad to say goodbye to this clan, but I'm excited for the spin-off series to come. You can't keep a good rancher down, amirite?!?!
And then there was Jesse, confused, self-absorbed, cocky, and stubborn. We knew it wouldn't be an easy fall, a quick fall, or a simple fall when he found his woman. It would be hot, sweaty, fun, and crazy, but she'd have to be a good match for all of Jesse's pros and cons.
Luckily, Dare meets him on every level, and exceeds him, because she sees his heart and his emotions. She sees not just what he shows to the world, or what he thinks, but his feelings driving his actions and reactions. Others have tried, but she gets Jesse on a level that is all Jesse
This book wraps up the series, and I admit I was deeply teary-eyed on many occasions. Whether a look at the previous couples, or the journey for Jesse and Dare, this book struck so many chords with me. The authour has created a world so vibrant and real, it was saying goodbye, and that left me full of emotions. That Jesse's story is the last one, that he and Joel are the final ones to get married, and that we end on the Six-Pack, with those boys, is only appropriate. We started this world with Blake out with Jesse and Joel, and ended with Blake, at home with Jesse and Joel
There were a whole lotta babies in this book, and that is appropriate as well. This family is all about family, and the things that happen to make all those babies, well, that is something they strive really well at as well!!
Oh Jesse; stubborn, stubborn, stubborn. Unable to admit to his family, with one exception, what he did and unable to forgive himself, he decides to 'solve' his problem by running away. And runs right into Dare, also stubborn, but also sexy and smart and mischievous. They have a great time then go their separate ways, but are brought back together thanks to the internet. Jesse grew a lot in this book, and learned about forgiving one's self, knowing when to confess and when to stay silent, and about manning up and doing the right thing. But it's all not serious lessons. He and Dare have a rocking good time; they can barely keep their hands of each other but also have other kinds of, ahem, more wholesome fun. They were so right for each other; they helped each other, kicked each other's butts when needed, and saw the best in each other.
Arend worked in just about every Coleman there ever was and a whole herd of new ones. It seemed like every time I swiped a page, another baby was being born, lol. But it was nice to catch up with everyone, and to see their happy endings. "Rocky Mountain Home" was a romance and a family epic with a lots of warm fuzzies and steamy interludes. And, if you're not quite done with Rocky Mountain ranchers, the next romance for the new spin-off series was set up in this story.
I'm going to miss these people and their stories. I know that sounds silly, but Miss Vivian has created such a wonderful world, with the series ending, it feels a bit like moving away from home. So much so, that I'm hoping (HINT) that occasionally we'll get a little update here and there. And well, truthfully, I think there's a story or two to tell about the original Sick Pack beginning with Mike and Marion.... and now we're headed to Heart Falls... you did mention Cowboys, right?
There’s no distance you can run to escape the past.

••••••••••••••
REVIEW: ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME is the eleventh and final installment in Vivian Arend’s contemporary, adult SIX PACK RANCH erotic, romance cowboy series focusing on the large extended family of the Coleman clan. This is prodigal son and Joel’s twin Jesse Coleman, and blogger Darilyn ‘Dare’ Hayes’ story line. ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Jesse and Dare) ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME focuses on a drunken one-night stand, four months earlier, that results in a pregnancy for Jesse Coleman and Darilyn Hayes. Never catching one another’s last names, Dare Hayes takes to the internet, posting a picture of Jesse on her blog, in the hopes of locating her sexy one-night stand. Knowing his family would never accept anything less than a relationship with the mother of his child, Jesse proposes in the hopes of getting to know the woman with whom he will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Jesse and Dare, and Dare’s overwhelming welcome into the Coleman clan.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME is a story of family and forgiveness as Jesse reluctantly returns to the family fold hoping to mend the bridges he burned several months before when guilt and betrayal forced Jesse away from the people he loved. Months have passed since Jesse’s disappearance but with his return comes love and acceptance that never waivered in light of his need to run.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most if not all of the previous story line couples, several Coleman/Thompson cousins, as well as the introduction of Dare’s extended family –the Stone family of Heart Falls- and the lead in to another spin off / cross-over series focusing on the Heart Falls cowboys with Tamara Coleman and Caleb Stone.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME brings together the growing Coleman clan; the loving family dynamics; and Jesse’s need to for forgiveness to move forward with his life. There are moments of humor and fun; heartbreak and guilt; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is energetic and inspiring; the characters are colorful, passionate and spirited; the romance is captivating and intense. ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOME and the SIX PACK RANCH series is perfect for lovers of cowboys, romance and happily ever afters.
Good conclusion to the series. Nice to see Jesse work his way back to the family. Dare was a wonderful partner for him. They were both a little slow with their feelings, but I guess it was understandable given their pasts and how they got together in the first place. Lots of wrap up with the whole fam-damily too.
I listened to the audio and it was ok. The narrator isn't a favorite, but works when audio is the better option for me.
It was with grateful thanks tinged with sadness that I started this book. I have followed this series from the beginning when Jaxi was determined to get Blake to see her as a women. So I feel like I know Jessie quite well, so it was a treat to follow his journey with Dare and their hea. When Dare met Jessie for the first time it was an emotionally bad time for both of them. So a night of drunken hot sex was remembered by both parties for different reasons. Jessie was trying to find Dare because he kept thinking about her, and Dare was looking for Jessie for another reason. The first part of the book follows Jessie and Dares Journey towards each other. Then we end up back in Rocky Mountain for the rest and it’s a family reunion for all parties including myself who had followed all the couples’ stories through the whole series. If you have followed the series this is a treat to catch up with everyone, and to watch Jessie taking the final step to becoming a good man. If you haven’t followed the series why not? You need to start at book one Rocky Mountain Heat. This is a five star treat for anyone. I received an Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars Rocky Mountain Home is the final book in the eleven book Six Pack Ranch series. The series revolves around the lives and loves of the Coleman clan of ranchers in the imaginary town of Rocky Mountain House in Alberta Canada. It also serves as the launching point for a couple of other Vivian Arend series. I have to confess right here that one of those series, The Stones of Heart Falls (a three book series) was the first series I read by the author. In truth the only reason I started reading the Six Pack Ranch series was to learn more about how Dare the heroine of this book came to know Tamara the heroine of A Rancher’s Heart (the first book in the Stone’s series) well enough to recommend her as the nanny for Caleb’s young daughters Sasha and Emma. Tamara does get a big role in this book as a secondary character because she along with Dare is the link between the two series. *** Spoiler Alert*** After reading all of both series, even though Tamara definitely gets her happily ever after in A Ranchers Heart I can’t help thinking what a shame it was that she put in all those years of education, training and experience as a nurse only to have that career stolen from her by the act of a jealous, vindictive doctor who never gets his. Little did I know at the time I started the Six Pack Ranch series that Dare’s story was the last in an eleven book series. I knew from the Heart Falls series of Dare’s background. How she had lost her family at sixteen in the same accident that claimed the Stone’s siblings parent’s. That she had been best friends with Ginny Stone and that Caleb who was twenty-four at the time of the accident had taken Dare in allowing her to stay with the family while she finished her schooling as he acted as her psuedo big brother/guardian as he had with his biological younger siblings. I knew that at some point Dare had moved to Rocky Mountain House, paired up with one of Tamara’s cousins and had a baby. That was it. If you’ve been reading the Six Pack Ranch series, Jesse along with his twin brother Joel are the youngest of the Six Pack Ranch branch of the Coleman’s clan. In the first book in the series Rocky Mountain Heat, Jesse is quickly introduced with twin brother Joel as the youngest Colemans. Jesse is sort of a wild child player who likes threesomes with his twin brother. Unlike the rest of his 5 siblings and cousins, Jesse’s character only seems to become more unlikable as the series progresses until we get to twin brother Joel and his love Vicki’s story Rocky Mountain Rebel. In that book the Jesse character goes completely off the rails and becomes a true a-hole. Towards the end of Rocky Mountain Devil we learn a little about what is wrong with Jesse and why he packs up his horse Danger and dog Morgan and leaves Rocky Mountain House for parts unknown without a word to anyone in the family but his cousin Rafe whom he was sharing a house with. This is a very ambitious book because the author not only writes Jesse and Dare’s love story but also Jesse’s reconciliation with his family whom he abandoned, catches up loyal readers on all the latest marriages, pregnancies and births in the Coleman clan, and also introduces the Stone family featured in the Heart Falls series. By the time the book is done about the only thing we don’t learn about the Coleman clan is whether poor Becky (Rocky Mountain Shelter) is able to overcome her sexual issue ti enjoy a normal sex life with Trevor? Although this book can certainly be read as a stand-alone I think its far more satisfying if you read at least the books in the Six Pack Ranch series I’ve referenced here if not all of them before hand. So now here we are with Dare and Jesse’s love story. I hardly expected it to start by finding our heroine Dare sitting by herself in a little bar (in a town even smaller than Heart Falls) downing multiple shots of whiskey and then hooking up with Jesse (who stumbles into the bar to get out of a storm) for a wild one night stand. From what little I knew of Dare and of her pseudo family the Stones, being a hard drinking, sexually aggressive 26 year old wasn’t what I expected. Turns out that while Dare does very much like sex, she was only drinking to get drunk that night because it was the 10th anniversary of the accident that killed the rest of her family. So for the past five years that was how she’s commemorated her loss. The wild night of sex with Jesse was just because of well, the drinking and the explosive sexual chemistry she had with the handsome and charming Coleman. It’s not really clear why she doesn’t include her BFF Ginny Stone in these annual wakes as she calls them because it is the same date that Ginny lost her parents in the same accident? Maybe it’s because including Ginny would have meant including her three protective older brothers? Or maybe getting drunk out of her mind as a means to commemorate her loss just isn’t Ginny’s thing? She does later tell Jesse that the first time she did this they came along and it was a buzz kill. Guess she prefers to drink and mourn alone. After their marathon night of wild sex Dare goes her way (back to Silver Stone Ranch) and Jesse goes his to a job he’s found working on a ranch a few hours south of Heart Falls. Jesse tries to find out more about Dare because the sex was so good he’d love an encore. But he doesn’t know anything about her. Not even her last name or where she lives. Dare can’t forget about Jesse either but really doesn’t know any more about him than he does about her. When she discovers a few months later that she and Jesse’s wild night has somehow left her pregnant despite using condoms she’d really like to find him just to let him know he’s going to be a father. Because she posted a picture of Jesse on her blog wearing only a towel around his waist that goes viral, Jesse is able to track Dare down through her blog. Also through the same post Jaxi is able to contact Dare and put two and two together and suspects Jesse is Dare’s baby daddy and contacts Dare. So Dare now knows Jesse’s last name and that he has family in Rocky Mountain House. Jesse shows up at Silver Stone Ranch thinking he might get another night of great sex from the lush bodied, auburn haired beauty with a libido to match his own, only to discover he’s going to be a father. After absorbing the shocking news Jesse determines he’s not going to abandon the mother of his unborn child or his child. That’s not what Coleman’s do and Jesse is trying to grow up and be the kind of decent honorable man the rest of the Coleman men are. While Dare immediately refuses Jesse’s spontaneous marriage proposal she does agree to allow him to provide her emotional support (and perhaps financial) during the pregnancy and be part of their child’s life. To help curb the wagging small town tongues of Heart Falls that would be going crazy over the idea that Dare was pregnant as the result of a one night stand with a man she didn't even know, she also allows Jesse to call himself her fiancé. Although truth be told she doesn’t really expect much from Jesse other than at some future date his interest in her and the baby will wane and he’ll mostly disappear from their lives. As I’ve mentioned Dare has a libido to match maybe any other heroine in this series other than Ashley’s (Rocky Mountain Freedom) who is pretty much a completely uninhibited nympho. So even though she barely knows Jesse she’s got no qualms with a sexual encore of two or more while they get to know each other better and wait for the baby to arrive. After all she’s already carrying his baby anyway and knows they’re sexual dynamite together. And did I mention, she really likes to fuck? Not to be crude but “fuck me” is a pretty frequent utterance of Dare’s throughout this story. My only issue with this story involves the progress of Jesse and Dare’s relationship. I know that the story line of a lot of sex before the couple acknowledges their relationship is more than sex, is a common contrivance in the contemporary romance genre, but it still bothers me. Jesse and Dare begin a sexual relationship almost immediately upon reconnecting at Silver Stone Ranch. Throughout the story beyond the sex they become very much a couple in and out of the bedroom, holding hands, hugging, kissing often, supporting each other emotionally. Once Jesse leaves his job to be close to Dare they live and sleep together. Yet we’re asked to believe that neither has a clue that they’ve fallen in love with one another until the very end of the story. Other than that issue this is an absolutely great story. I loved watching Jesse and Dare’s relationship bloom as they came to know more about each other. I loved watching Jesse reconcile with his family, especially his twin brother Joel. I loved how the entire Coleman clan not only welcomed back their prodigal son/brother, but also embraced Dare and how she became BFFs with Vicki. I loved seeing Jesse finally apologize to Vicki for being such a dick to her and asking her forgiveness. I loved how the author included as many previous characters as can possibly be expected from such a large cast in this final book so we get an update on how their lives are going. If you like me enjoyed reading the Six Pack Ranch series I think you’ll find this final book in the series satisfying.
So enjoyed Jesse and Dare's story. Fun moments, swoony-sweet moments, and of course, sexy ones, too. :)
I'm behind on this series (...um, the last book I read was 3 -- Mt TBR problems!) and reading RMH reminded me that I love Arend's writing and this big ol' family especially. I need to hurry and catch up on 4-10. And I cannot wait to see Caleb meet his match in the new spin-off series!

Will the bad boy ever grow up? That has been the question throughout the entire series. Jesse is the quintessential bad boy. He does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, with whoever he wants and damn the consequences. Until one hot night of passion with a stranger. Little did they know, but Jesse has super-sperm and Dare would end up pregnant from their one night of drinking and debauchery.
Four months later they have their reunion thanks to a scantily clad picture taken that night and her blog post (and why are ranch hands looking at a country living blog post?). Jesse drives to the ranch to persuade Dare for one more hot passionate night to find out he's going to be a father.
After deciding they should get to know each other (and possibly date), Jesse takes Dare home to Rocky Mountain to meet the family. Poor Dare ... Little does she know what she's getting in to.
When Dare ends up in the hospital, it gives her a chance to see what having a family could be like and what it could be like for buckaroo to grow up with them. It gives her and Jesse time to talk about themselves and get to know each other. It also forces Jesse to tell her some of things going on in his head. He finally opens up to her about what caused him to leave his family and how he still feels about them and about what happened. Dare listens and provides feedback and I love that she tells him it's his problem and no one else's.
Jesse had several eye-opening moments in this story. One of them is the joint baby shower. His dad is giving a speech about what it takes to be a father and what it takes to be a daddy. Jesse finally realizes everything he's done is for the wrong reasons and he escapes the party. Unfortunately, he strands Dare. His dad finds him chopping wood and they finally have a much needed talk. They talk about how everyone calls him "Asshole" and he finally realizes that's exactly what he is.
Another moment is when Joel and he go riding to Sunset Ridge. Jesse really doesn't want to go but he does for Joel. He is floored when he realizes that the family is building him a house right next to Joel and Vickie. This is where the twins always wanted to build their homes and the family did was helping Joel build his so they started building Jesse's even though he had left without a word. That's when Jesse realized what family was all about ... and when he realized he is in love.
How can you top that? Oh, yeah, have a baby. And a double wedding. This book was full of soul searching, self reflection, happiness, family, stress, sex (let's not forget the sex) and love. It was a great finale to this series. I am sad to see the end. But I am looking forward to this spinoff series. I have great hope for what is to come. And I know the Coleman's will play a role since they are tied together (Dare/Jesse and now Caleb/Tamara).
It's always a little bittersweet when a series comes to a conclusion. Sometimes I'm glad that it's the end of a series, but in this case I'm a little sad that but the good news is that it ends with a terrific send off.
Jesse Coleman has had a fall out with his brothers and while he's away licking his wounds, he meets Dare at the bar where she is pounding back shots having her own little celebration. They both end up drinking their sorrows and enjoying some naked time in Dare's hotel room afterward. When she's gone in the morning, Jesse thinks nothing of the one-night stand until a picture of him in that hotel room ends up going viral on the internet.
When Dare and Jesse finally reunite, he finds out that Dare is pregnant with his child. Of course, being a man of honor, he offers to marry her. But Dare is cautious and wants them to get to know each other better before making that commitment. I liked that about her and more.
Jesse and Dare start to spend time together. He's got to gain the approval of Dare's extended family, which isn't all that easy. Then there's the whole idea of going home to Rocky Mountain Home to introduce Dare to his family -- he's not quite sure how his brothers will react to his homecoming. With all those brothers, there's sure to be problems and Jesse's is a doozy. The hurt of his long absence is now colored with anger and it's going to take some effort from Jesse to fix it.
This is where things get interesting and Dare gets a big dose of the Coleman family. Dare is awesome and she doesn't put up with Jesse's lack of communication, but she does it in a kind manner. She waits for him and eventually gets him to spill the beans about the rift with his brothers, especially his twin Joel. There are some real nice heart-to-heart conversations in Rocky Mountain Home which I adored.
Rocky Mountain Home was an engaging comfort read for me. It was a book I couldn't put down. I always feel like I'm going on a vacation to the majesty of the Rockies when I read this series, and I love how each book is a celebration of the honor found in the simple values of working hard, taking care of family, and being kind to each other. There is quite a bit of the entire clan in this book and I loved that too. (and so many babies it was hard to keep track!)
Rocky Mountain Home can be read standalone. It did make me want to re-read the entire series again. And while I'm a little sad to see the Coleman family ride off into the sunset, I'm happy to hear there will be a new series centered around Heart's Fall and the Stone family who are introduced in this book.
I definitely recommend this series. It's a terrific and satisfying escape.
I was a bit leery to read this one for a couple of reasons. The first is that is the last in the series and I really like this one, the second was Jesse. I've never been a big fan of Jesse, found him to be a childish, selfish jerk, so wasn't sure that I could root for him to find his HEA. I'm happy to say that I didn't need to be leery at all, I even found myself liking and even feeling a bit sorry for Jesse.
As this one opened we were shown the old Jesse, one who didn't really think with his big head. With Dare though, Jesse seemed to meet his match, she kept him on his toes right from the start. So of course Dare ends up pregnant from their one night, a trope I'm not real fond of, but it worked out really great within this story, in fact I think it needed to happen for both of these two. The baby was sure a surprise for both Dare and Jesse. While Dare had time to come to terms, Jesse not so much. His reaction was about the most perfect response Dare could have heard. I kept expecting Jesse to freak out when he was by himself, but that didn't happen. I think he knew despite how they met there was a shot at real for them both.
Dare's family's reaction had me laughing, it was nice that Jesse pretty much expected it. Much as the Coleman reaction to Dare was. It was as Dare and Jesse were back at Rocky Mountain that things started to get interesting. Jesse was facing his past, the same past that sent him running. I really thought he would tell Dare what happened, but the book was almost over before he did. That didn't stop Dare from just being there for Jesse and giving him some great advice for handling things. As much as Dare was there for Jesse, he was there for her. Jesse wasn't really aware how scared Dare was of the Coleman clan, not because of them, but due to loosing her own family and not wanting to loose her heart to a new family. It was great to see Jesse calm Dare down. I think what made their support of each other great was that at this point neither of them realized they loved each other, they were just making the best of ending up pregnant after a one night stand. I felt like it was the perfect storm for both of them, each wanted to love, each wanted the feel of family again and they magically found each other.
Watching Dare become one of the Colemans was great. With each new family member met and each family gathering Dare found what she lost and was surrounded with people that could help her, didn't matter if it was a small matter or a big one.
I loved how this one ended, loved that the boys found their bond and were able to grow their family the way they have done everything else, together.

I really enjoyed this one! I loved getting to see Jesse finally start growing up and fixing his mistakes and behavior. This is the 11th book in the series and while it can be read as a stand alone, there is definite benefits to having read previous books. We finally get to learn what has caused Jesse to act the way was for the last few years in the series and what has him leaving his family and traveling, working somewhere else. He leaves without much word and pretty quickly he ends up running into Dare and they have a one night stand. Both have lingered in each other's minds and Dare tried to locate him once she figured out she was pregnant. Luckily, they end up finding their way back together and in contact with each other. I loved how Dare and Jesse handled the unexpected pregnancy and communication with each other regarding that. They both realize that there is maybe something more between them as well with the connection so they decide to give it a bit of a go with Buckaroo (baby) being their main focus and concern though for what is best for them. I loved watching these two navigate the situation they were in and watching Jesse step up and still be himself. Dare and Jesse really bring out the best in each other and I loved the way that they communicated and supported each other. This story had some definitely hot moments as well as some really sweet and adorable ones. I loved watching Jesse come back into the family fold and how they, of course, brought Dare in as well. This story was well written and engaging. I loved the characters and getting to catch up with past ones as we watch Jesse finally get things figured out and find his love. I loved it and can't wait for more Colemans! The narrator did a great job with the characters and bringing the story to life as well.
I’m sad that this is the last book in this series. I’ve enjoyed this series a lot & loved watching the family grow. I love how author Vivian Arend has used this last book to begin a new series as well by introducing us to the family of Silver Stone Ranch. Jesse, the last of the brothers & mired in his anger & embarrassment meets Dare, a sexy no holds bar, strong woman. They meet on a low day for each other, Dare is remembering the decade anniversary of the loss of her family & her bff’s parents in a car accident the only way that she can obliterate the loss, in an out of the way bar. Jesse is running from a stupid move he made to prove a point to his twin & lands in an out of the way bar in a snowstorm. After wondering about Dare for 4 months Jesse sees a blog with his almost naked butt that points him to her not knowing she’s been searching for him as well. When he finally finds her he’s in for a surprise that will change his life. Surprised but rolling with the punches, Jesse decides to do right by Dare & support her. Dare also becomes a strong influence on Jesse in her push to get Jesse to return home & reunite with his family, especially his twin brother. I enjoyed the slow but very sexy emotional growth between Jesse & Dare’s return to his home & announcing the new family member on the way. I also loved seeing all the other family members & how their lives & families have grown. This book has my favourite scene of the series in it, where Jesse & Joel are tasked with changing their new nephews diaper only to find it a disgusting one & then get peed on before getting the new diaper on. Sad to see this end but it was great. Definitely recommend.
My Thoughts: The Cover: Could you find two sexier models??
The Plot: While I found that Dare and Jesse's story was a little drawn out, it was still a very good story. I think I have just been reading a little too many werewolf and vampire books! Rocky Mountain Home is a wonderful read set in a beautiful picturesque landscape. Having spent 3 years in a little town in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, I could almost see the pastures and fields that Vivian describes. But the story, Dare and Jesse's story is beautiful, well-written and definitely steamy at points. For a love story that has a rocky start, it has enough ups and downs to be believable, a reminder that not everything is as it seems and not every love runs perfectly; sometimes they are like a garden that needs to be tended and cared for, but in time will be beautiful and something to treasure.
The Characters: All of our characters were very well written and some like Mike and Marion, you just want to beg to adopt you, they are so loving, accepting, and forgiving. Ginny was hands down my favorite character, with her wit and I think I am going to have to start on Vivian's next series as I want Ginny's story so badly! Tamara was an easy second so I am so glad her story comes next! She was so saucy.
Was It Worth Reading: Absolutely! It was a fantastic change from some of my other books. It was an amazing finale to a great series, with a promise of something new to come. I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Home to readers of drama and romance and give it 4 out of 5 of Cupid's crossbows.
Jesse Coleman left town without saying goodbye to his family especially his beloved twin brother. Running away from his problems wasn't the smartest thing but it led him straight into his destiny. Darilyn Hayes is having her own get away party of one when Jesse walks in to the bar she is drowning old sad memories in. They hit it off right away and after a unforgettable night Jesse wakes up alone. Neither one forgets the other and when Dari realizes she's pregnant she needs to try and find Jesse. Thankfully he finds her when she posts about him on her blog and includes a sexy picture. I loved Jesse and Dari together. They clicked for me right from the beginning. Jesse struggles with the stuff he messed up before he left home and some of the other stuff he feels he did wrong over the years. Dari struggles with what she's going to do with a baby on the way and missing her parents. Changes all around for them both. Dari helps Jesse work through everything and Jesse is there for Dari while both learn about each other. I felt their love for each other right away but of course they didn't know it realize it themselves. It was fun watching them get to know either other and their respective families while finding their way to love. Hate to see this series come to a end but i know there is a spin off series coming up involving Dari's family. I don't think we've seen the last of the Coleman's just yet.
Rocky Mountain Home by Vivian Arend is a fun and slightly emotional read. It is the love story between Darilyn Hayes, a blogger, and Jesse Coleman, a rancher trying to find himself. Dare and Jesse meet in a bar, get drunk, and subsequently spend one night experiencing the best sex of their lives. About a month later Dare realizes she is pregnant, and then tries many ways to notify her one-night-stand. Luckily a picture on her blog comes to the rescue.
The rest of the story is about how Dare and Jesse discover how each other ticks, both in and out of the bedroom. After Dare's parent's were killed in a tragic accident, she has always dreamed of being surrounded by a big family. The Colemans; a huge clan of brothers, cousins and in-laws, fulfill Dare's wishes threefold. Jesse is slowly welcomed back into his family, after leaving abruptly less than a year ago. Jesse needed some solitude and time to sort out his emotional demons.
I enjoyed this book, however I found the pace to be a little slow for my tastes. Dare and Jesse are likeable characters that are both interesting, exciting and sexy. I especially liked Dare, because her plight was easy to empathize with. Rocky Mountain Home is the final book in the Six Pack Ranch series and it can be read as a standalone. This is a well-written series that should definitely be added to your TBR list.
I love how Jesse Coleman and Darilyn "Dare" Hayes become acquainted and reacquainted. 🔥 The surprises that are laid before them are just bonuses.
A really hot one nighter followed by a bunch of mixed up clues and a desire to get more may be the catalyst for him tracking her down, but I love how it all plays out.
As for their respective families, it's no surprise how welcoming the Colemans are because that's just their nature. When it comes to Dare's family by love (not blood), I love how Jesse gets knocked down and repeatedly warned to do right by her. I also love how her "brothers" offer to do right by her. Even if misguided, it's sweet.
This is the last of the 20-30 something Coleman men to fall. I look forward to the next story as well as those of the ladies, at least one of which will lead us in another direction. I can't wait! 🩵
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator continues to be Tatiana Sokolov. I've enjoyed her narration throughout the series.
Jesse Coleman left the Six Pack Ranch and all his family after making what he feels was an unforgivable mistake. On his new ventures he meets a beautiful red head and spends a very memorable night with her.
Darilyn Hayes is reliving a painful anniversary when she meets a sexy cowboy while trying to drink away her painful memories. They spend a hot night together that will leave some unexpected results.
She has no idea what her cowboy's last name is until she posts a very unforgettable meme of her cowboy and is contacted by one of his family members looking for him. Jesse has also been trying to find the sexy red head. Once he finds out her news he is determined to do the right thing but Dare has other ideas.
They agree that getting to know each other first is the best approach. Jesse spends time with Dare's family getting to know them. Dare feels that they should also get to know Jesse's family. So the prodigal son returns home to his huge family and has to deal with all his feelings of guilt. With Dare's help Jesse will finally come to terms with his guilt and they both acknowledge their feelings for each other.
This was the long-awaited story about Jesse (one of the twins) who was so angry with everyone, then took off on his own with no notice. Now we meet him a few months later after he's had a one-night stand with a hot woman a few hours' drive away. He looks her up again and discovers that she's pregnant. So, he steps up and offers to marry her and at least wants to do the right thing and take care of them. As time goes on, he moves near her, deals with her large family (similar to his own), and gets his head on straight. Even after they visit Rocky, then move back, he's still got some growing up to do...with Dare's help. It was very satisfying to get to know Jesse better and learn to like him as he matured. He's tough, hard-working, and with principles that he forgot about for a while. But family reminds him. And Dare is from a very similar background, but she's got a good head on her shoulders but is still scared about "Buckaroo." It was so nice to watch them grow together while also growing individually. There was a lot of revisiting with the Coleman clan, reminding me of how much I've enjoyed this entire series.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Jesse was being stubborn. All he had to do was say that he was sorry. Instead, he decided to run away. Such a baby! On the road, he meet Darilyn. They hit it off. They had one night stand, and they thought it would be the end of it. 1 night to blow off steam for both of them. How wrong were they? Soon enough, Darilyn found out that the one night stand had a side effect. When Jesse found out, he was not going to just let it go. He would stand by Darilyn and do what needs to be done. He would never abandon his child, It was time for Jesse to grow up. This was such a sweet story. I think that even without the child, they would eventually end up together. The first time they meet, they already showed such a strong chemistry. It was all there. It was such a sweet ending and a fitting ending for this series. I hope that there are spin-offs It would be such a shame if this was really the end of the Coleman's dynasty.
I was so torn reading this book. First of all I enjoyed it soo much but at the same time I was sad to say goodbye to one of my favourite families. I never thought that Jesse would be able to redeem himself because, as some of you might know, he was a real prick in previous books and I didn’t like him at all. Vivian has done a remarkable job in making Jesse realise all his faults and being honest about it. Jesse and Dare were great together; I just loved their journey throughout this amazing book. When I say “amazing” I mean it because this was one of her best works so far. I loved how she didn’t rush anything and the story developed almost on its own. Jesse was so good to Dare and I loved her and how she was with him. I will miss my Coleman’s gang. Please read this book you won’t be disappointed, it has everything, good story, great characters, chemistry and love. I received an ARC for an honest review!
I'm so sad this series is over (but I do like that there is a spin-off series to keep getting Coleman goodness!) Jesse Coleman left Rocky Mountain House after doing some stupid stuff and being a jerk since Joel found his girl. A one night stand at a motel on the road leads Jesse on a path he'd never have expected! Dare Hayes is memorializing her lost family when she meets Jesse Coleman in a bar in the middle of nowhere, and she ends up with a bit more than a one night stand. Several months after finding out she's preggers, a blog post and a picture finds it's way to Jesse, who hasn't been able to forget the redhead he met! And once he finds out about Dare's condition, he realizes it's time to stop thinking about himself and to step up. I really liked these two together and it was a great story. I loved how a brought the Six Pack Colemans full circle, and also opened the door for future series.
Well, the blurb for this audiobook says it was the final book in the series but we now know that there is one more and I’m so happy about that.
I just love all of the characters in this series and I’m so happy that we finally got a book about Jesse. I’m not going to rehash the blurb because it’s great and accurate (except the part about it being the last book LOL). This is a super sexy story with a lot of emotion. Jesse has been estranged from his family (his doing, not his family) and his situation with Dare finally gives him the reason he needs to reconnect.
I love it when a story moves me to tears and this one did that more than once and now I can’t wait to listen to the final (?) book, Rocky Mountain Forever.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
What a way to end a spectacular series, and lead you into the next great cowboy series. Jesse grabbed my heart at the beginning of the series. He just has a way of reaching out and grabbing a hold of it and you don't want him to let go. Dare that name fits her perfectly. She has a way of reaching in and touching you heart and soul. As you read this last book of the series it captures you, and you can't put it down until the end. When you reach the end you want to cry. There are no words to put down that can describe how Jesse and Dare's story touches you. I cried, laughed, and fell more in love with the Coleman crew. If you have not read this series then you are missing out, and I would excitedly encourage you to pick it up because you will not be disappointed. You will definately add it to your fave list.
