Why I love Nick Thacker's thrillers in one sentence: they start out gangbusters and go faster than light from there, the subject matter is so addicting and exciting, I can't put the book down, and the black-ops team CSO never gets a break.
Not much else left to say except that if you haven't met Harvey Bennett and the CSO team, you are in for a treat. I've followed Nick Thacker for a while and I've never been disappointed. I highly recommend his books.
A weapon that can control the tectonic plates is reactivated by the Faction
Polaris was an old Russian underwater base that was designed to be able to control the very surface of the Earth, able to cause earthquakes or tsunamis depending on where it is aimed, but it was too unstable to be used reliably. Now the Faction wants to resurrect it and the CSO team has been sent in to prevent this from happening. It soon becomes clear that the team was expected... Another action-packed, suspense-filled romp with another discontinuity occurring early in the tale (are they deliberate or just a sign of a crap editor?). Moral quandaries, sacrifice, gun battles and face to face combat reign supreme in another enjoyable installment of Ben's story.
Harvey 'Ben' Bennett along with his CSO team including his wife Julie, are thrust into a desperate battle for survival, when enemy forces unleash a trap under the sea - the eponymous Polaris Cycle.

Latest instalment of the Harvey Bennett series is a post cold war thriller. The usual roller-coaster of action, thrills and suspense (as well as the corny jokes), but with added introspection.
Just when your adrenaline level backs off and before you can breath a sigh of relief that the danger has passed…..the CSO group gets hit even harder. I know after reading this I need that beach vacation to relax!
The book kept my interest from the beginning. The characters were believable and true to character. It's just that I was not happy as to how it ended. Being left hanging is not my idea of an optimal read.
