The Little Deaf Man Decided to be Spoiled

Rate this book
What happens when the "abusive romance" trope meets a protagonist who simply… doesn't hear it?

Ji Ruan never asked to be transmigrated into a dog-blood abuse story. Now he's trapped in a contract marriage with a cold, indifferent husband — physically weak, hard of hearing, and completely alone.

When Gu Xiuyi delivers his dramatic "leave quietly in three years" speech, Ji Ruan just blinks tiredly and asks him to repeat himself.

When the white moonlight storms in with her explosive revelation, Ji Ruan is too busy searching for his cochlear implant to care.

Without even trying, Ji Ruan keeps accidentally dismantling every dramatic moment — and somehow, piece by piece, melting the ice around Gu Xiuyi's heart.

Gu Xiuyi married who he thought was a troublemaker. He didn't expect a priceless little treasure.

This actually didn't immediately hook me the first few chapters but the more I read, the more invested I was. This is such a quick read and the plot is nothing too deep. Quite a bit formulaic and a little repetitive, especially when it comes to the part where the frail and sick MC getting hospitalized and ML taking care of him but with the author establishing the MC with weak body constitution, it only made sense. It might be repetitive but still entertaining, in my personal opinion.

I appreciate that the MC didn't let his doubt fester in his mind for so long. He just directly convey it to the ML and let all his doubts out and with the ML's attitude of not taking any chances of letting some misunderstandings get in the way of their relationship, it immediately avoided unnecessary miscommunication. In ML's mind, when his partner is having insecurities and doubts, he will just immediately nip the problem in the bid.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. This has a 12-year age gap romance so to those who are sensitive with that trope, this is not your book.
