When sanctuary turns to slaughter...

In the latest pulse-pounding Baker & Tate thriller, nationwide immigration sweeps trigger a mass murderer's ruthless crusade. As immigration enforcement operations sweep the country, a seemingly ordinary ranch house explodes in rural Texas. When local police discover it wasn't a gas leak tragedy but an intentional explosion, Texas Rangers Ruth Baker and Aaron Tate are called in. They discover the charred remains of nearly thirty people - undocumented immigrants who were being held by human traffickers. What should have been just another accident investigation becomes a hunt for a relentless killer.

As Ruth and Aaron dig deeper, they uncover a network of similar safe houses across Texas hill country, all connected to human trafficking operations. But someone else has been watching these locations, systematically destroying them with their occupants inside. The perpetrator has found the perfect cover for his twisted mission to eliminate what he sees as America's hidden plague.

With each new safe house they uncover, Ruth and Aaron race to evacuate the victims before the Iceman can strike again. But their target is always one step ahead, leaving cryptic manifestos that reveal an endgame more terrifying than they imagined. As public tensions over immigration reach a boiling point, Ruth must navigate the dark intersection of human trafficking, domestic terrorism, and a nation divided.

SAFE HAVEN is a relentless cat-and-mouse thriller packed with taut suspense, forensic detail, and the emotional gut-punch that fans of the Baker & Tate series have come to expect. Each book in the Baker & Tate series is a complete story that can be read on its own.

A timely, thoughtful thriller

Safe Haven, Book 6 in the excellent Baker and Tate series of crime thrillers, is the story of a cartel victim turned sicario who is responsible for bombings that are meant to eliminate any witnesses. Like the first 5 books, the narrative remains of a high caliber, with excellent characters, good dialog and moral grey areas which make Safe Haven both timely and thoughtful, with Baker especially making choices fans of the series won't see coming. This is about as good as crime thrillers come, if you enjoy well conceived and executed thrillers, Safe Haven belongs on your 'to read' list, if not at the top. 5 stars, highly recommended for adult thriller fans of all kinds!

Safe Haven

This book is so now, today. It really has me thinking of current events. It is thrilling, not predictable, believable. I highly recommend it.

Fast paced for stay up late reading!

This author has great story lines. Each character is described well enough that you can form a picture of them in your mind as you read. Another review said it wasn't realistic. Shame on them! This is a good book series. If you want realistic, read a non-fiction book. The plot keeps you wanting to keep reading until your eyes say it's time for sleep. The family that Ruth and Aaron have is wonderful. Keep writing those interactions. A good part of the series! Nice to see they have a reprieve from the highly stressful work situations.
Only one thing that's a bit irritating, EDIT the book better please. Keep the same person driving the car from one paragraph to another. Also, they pick up a witness and then go straight to a suspects house. Where did the witness go when the subject is put in the back seat in handcuffs? The thing is, this is good story telling! Great ideas that keep me reading even through the hiccups! On to the next book!
