Bruised, But Not Broken: My Mess Is A Message

Rate this book
Pain changes people, but it doesn’t have to break them.

In Bruised, But Not My Mess Is A Message, Hydiea shares her raw and unfiltered journey of survival, heartbreak, and resilience. From a childhood shaped by foster care, family betrayal, and homelessness to the struggles of navigating toxic relationships, motherhood, and self-discovery, this memoir lays everything bare.

With gripping honesty, Hydiea confronts the wounds left by those who were supposed to love her, the lessons she learned the hard way, and the moments that nearly broke her. But this is not just a story of pain it’s a story of transformation. Through every setback, she found strength. Through every betrayal, she built wisdom. And through every loss, she reclaimed her power.

Now a wife, mother, and author, Hydiea proves that no matter how many times life knocks you down, you can rise again. Because your mess is not your ending it’s your message.

This book is for anyone who has ever felt lost, abandoned, or unworthy. For anyone who has ever questioned if they could make it through. Hydiea is living proof that you can and that the past does not define you.

You may be bruised, but you are never broken.

But God!

My life is based around my faith. With that being said, there was so much devastation around this author's life until you couldn't help but realize a few things. As traumatic as some of our experiences are, God wastes nothing! As I read and listened, I was reminded of my life scripture, Romans 8:28, read it when you get a chance. I tested up a few times while listening. I busted out in prayer a few times as well. There was so much to unpack here. I'm glad that she was willing to do the work. I was encouraged by reading her testimony.

132 highlights, talk about RELATABLE. Talk about HEAVY. I just want to thank Hydiea for her bravery and strength to have put her story out there. This book is for any girl of any age who feels the weight of the world in all relationships. Her story is a gentle reminder to never stop fighting for YOURSELF, and that the other side of that weight is possible.

Side note: There were some parts that were repetitive, I thought I was rereading the same page.

This is raw and uncut. I appreciate the vunerability of the author in sharing her story. I'm sure it brought up a lot of wounds that she would want to keep buried. I enjoy the fact that even though she shares the trauma and turmoil of her life's journey, there is light at the end, and it ends on a positive note. Throughout the book, I wanted to hug her. Assuming the author isn't spiritual since God wasn't mentioned but I pray her continued healing.
