Nero: Shattered Wings

Rate this book
Minutes after being served divorce papers, I receive a phone call that warps my mind.

If it isn’t bad enough my soon-to-be ex filed for divorce on our fourteenth wedding anniversary, he also used my company card to spoil his mistress with a honeymoon suite and a thousand-dollar floral arrangement.

I’ve not been handed a single flower since we wed, so when the hotel clerk requests to see my card before processing the payment, I accept the opportunity unknowingly granted to me.

With the tiny teddy I had hoped would milk my husband of one measly orga$m covered by a thin coat, and my cell phone recording, I burst into the honeymoon suite, gung-ho for the evidence that will offer me the ultimate revenge.

There isn’t a single person in the entire suite.

A god, though. There’s one of them.

He glares at me like I was caught cheating, and the heat of his stare makes me wish that were true.

I’d sign on the dotted line without protest just for the chance of spending an hour with the dark and brooding stranger who doesn’t look at me like I should cover my curves with an outfit “more appropriate for my body type.”

Nero loves the way I fill in the racy little number, and he’s more than happy to spend a few hours ensuring my husband knows exactly what he let go, and to help me repair my shattered wings.

Needs more story…

This was probably about 75% sex and 25% actual story.

This is, I think, the first book I’ve read from this author. I’m going to go back to the first in the series and see if it’s the same. If it is, that’ll be the last I read from her…

KU read, not recommended.

“Ah,” Nero murmurs when he notices my lack of fear. “I got your title mixed up.” He inches closer, fanning my lips with his heated breaths. “You’re not a princess.” Heat burns through me when he says, “You’re a queen.”

This was such a satisfying read. I was rooting for Miranda the whole time. Funny enough even though Nero was very attracted to her, I didn’t trust him. Hahaha. He isn’t trustworthy or your typical good guy. He’s actually a very bad man and I absolutely love that about him. I love that he is willing to kill for Miranda. This mafia romance was a fluffy read. Believe it or not. Soooo fluffy and full of Nero doing everything in his power to get Miranda naked. As she deserves.

The first 50% of this is the FMC on every page talking about how overweight she is. Then it was bearable up to about 80% when she started mentioning how overweight she is again.
I found the obsession around body types in this book weird, it was really focused on. We get it. She’s fat. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Nothing to say

Honestly my mother told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say what all. So there you go, I have absolutely nothing to say. Shirley

Poor character development - I didn't care about either the MMC or the FMC.

Very good story indeed!

Miranda was a beautiful woman who married you to a man ten years her senior. Her husband of fourteen years was abusive by continuing to body shame her. She did all the work around the house and for her catering company. On her wedding anniversary, she received a call from the hotel that her husband Roy had set up for his mistress. Nero got married to a woman who he had no interest but it was done while he was in a drunken state. When she showed up to the hotel to handle the issue she went to the room in hope of catching her husband in the room with his mistress but he found a man sitting in the chair. Come to find out the mistress was Nero’s wife whom he had tried to get the marriage annulled. Miranda had no idea that Nero was the man who had been obsessed and watching her for over a year. They had an instant chemistry and Nero decided they would get their revenge by being together. Miranda had no idea that her husband was gagged and tied in a chair in the closet with all the evidence of him and Nero wife. The story shows how a man brought a woman with low self esteem to become a butterfly. 🦋. Loved the story and I recommend reading it.

- “I wasn’t asking, printsessa. Get your fine ass over here. Now. I’m fucking starved.” - Nero
- “…he likes feeding me as much as he loves eating me.” - Miranda
- “You’re not taking me out here to kill me, are you?” “If you are, can we play a game of chase first?” - Miranda
- “…but a king who respects his queen is always open to compromise.”
- “Confidence doesn’t solely come from within. It comes with the utmost certainty that someone will be there to catch you anytime you may fall.”
- “Last warning, fuckface. Say another bad word about her, or insinuate she isn’t perfect how she is, and I’ll pull your intestines out of your nose.” - Nero
- “Nero didn’t stalk me once the six days he tried to give his marriage a go. Well, not in person, anyway. Online surveillance doesn’t count.” - Miranda
- “…you don’t realize how strong you are until someone pushes so hard that you are forced to shove back.” - Miranda
- Short and funny and a good distraction book.
- It had a couple twists that I really didn’t expect.

I don’t know why I waited so long to read a book by Shandi Boyes. I have several of her books on my TBR after seeing so many of her FB ads and a friend telling me I must read her. Shattered Vows fits my type of reader. The story starts fast. It immediately hooked me. I loved the FMC, Miranda. She is incredibly relatable in that there are qualities in her that are realistic. I found that I was rooting for her—out loud! Yes, I was talking to the book. It was that kind of story. There were a lot of “oh no he didn’t’s,” and “you better tell him’s” as well as lots of chuckles. Miranda was great, and Nero was top tier.

Shandi Boyes, the author, will have her MMC adore his woman’s thick thighs, hips, and stomach. Because Miranda is a super curvy plus-size girl, something her husband does not like at all. Did you catch that? Husband? Miranda and Nero are both married, but not to each other. Shandi Boyes handled this incredibly well! Shattered Vows was a great story!

This is a really quick read. This story originally started as a short, and Shandi expanded on it. Gotta love a curvy girl that finally finds someone that isn't disgusted by her body. I will say that because it was so short, a lot happens between chapters that you don't really get details about, and so parts of it were confusing and a little hard to follow. Although, I think that might just be her writing style because I've had difficulty trying to follow some of her longer books before, too. Even though this book is really short, it's full of spice from start to finish. Starting off with a revenge situation and then ending with all of the breeding kink obsession makes for a very spicy book.

Neo and Miranda are fire

Yee gawds I loved their short story we were gifted months ago and instantly wanted more of these two. Our beloved author granted us readers our wish of more and man am I not disappointed. The beginning of the book is a repeat of the short story but then we get into the extra. These two characters are panty soaking, hot and combustible not to mention leaves you wanting more. Yes the middle of their story is filled with a LOT of sexy times but that's not a bad thing. Then we get treated to more story and a wonderful ending. Cannot say enough about this author!!!!

Good Book

I have read all this series so far and I still like that the other characters pop up especially Nickolai & Justine.
Nero and Miranda are perfect for each other and I loved their interactions, I was feeling slightly confused when Nero was saying he had been watching her and I was thinking why?
It all becomes clear and I have to say I detested Roy & Tasha they were despicable characters and the gall of them to show back up after everything they did was astounding.
I’m so pleased they had their HEA but o have to say the beginning of the last chapter had me thinking things had gone wrong so I’m happy to see all is well.
Good Book and series.

Nero and Miranda are perfect

I love it when the heroine is a plus sized woman. Big girl deserve love too, and I'm happy Miranda gets it from Nero. This book was hot, hot, h-o-t-t HOT! I loved how he couldn't keep his hands off of her, and loved her the way she deserved to be loved. I liked the bit of mystery and didn't see the culprit coming. I was so happy to see Miranda get her happily ever after ,because she deserved it after dealing with that turd burger of a husband. There wasn't anything about this book that I didn't love. Five plus stars all around.

Nero

Well the appetizer was definitely a necessity before the main meal!! OMFG!! This man and his insatiable taste for a curvy girl. I knew when I read the snippet not to long ago, that Nero was going to fry my brain. The chemistry between Nero and Miranda definitely didn't fade after their one night. And as their story unfolds, it becomes clear that this tattooed Bratva soldier had her in his sights long before their first meeting. Their story is HOT and I love how he encourages her and builds her back up after years being broken down by her husband. Loved it, Shandi!!

Shandi does it again

We got a little sneak into Nero and Miranda late last year. 3 chapters to be precise. I am so grateful Shandi decided to give us more. It isn't the usual size of her books but boy does it have as much punch as the others like Nikolai and crew. This book is about a plus size woman. I will not spoil or elaborate on the story line. Just believe me, when I say, you will love it. Well worth waiting for.

Not all that bratva-y. I actually really like the idea of the plot and how Miranda and Nero met. The details of the coke theft really didn’t keep my attention well tho. I don’t really get how/why his mom was involved. And then they’re just a happy family with her again at the end? Idk. We love a man that worships his queen tho. And I wish we could have seen Miranda’s friendships or some found family

This book was so freaking cool. I loved how obsessed Nero was with Miranda and the chemistry between the two. There was an instant attraction between them and real feelings developed quickly. I loved how Nero's obsession helped to build Miranda's self esteem in and out of the bedroom resulting in some hot and spicy moments, and I always really enjoyed the 'revenge' moments in the story. A very entertaining read that will appeal to a lot of romance lovers.

Great story!!

This is the sixth book in this impressive series and this is a great addition.
This is a well written story which has family, friendships, emotions, challenges, trust, cheating ex's, sizzling chemistry, humour, and love, which all leads to an entertaining, and captivating page turner.
I look forward to more more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Short read about 200 pages. I enjoyed Nero and Miranda considering it’s a little more smut than plot.

Shandie Boyd’s originally released this as 4 chapters back in December 2024 and I’m glad she decided to expand on it. I am still going to say Issac from her Enigma series remains my favorite book boyfriend from her.

Great beginning and characters. I wanted more of their story; swap out one of the endless sex scenes (we know he's a stud and can pound her for an hour) with more about them. The problem with a too short story is trying to cram in and explain too many plot points. The whole reveal by Miranda with Tasha is surprising. Where did that come from? She sure figured it all out. So smart.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The beginning started off a little iffy but i kept reading and really liked this story a lot. My one gripe though? The main characters never actually tell each other “i love you” i really don’t like when books do that. I don’t want it implied i want it said loud and proud.

The spice was popping

Four ⭐️ and at least four 🌶️ this book was spicy and it was 🥵 While the spice was spicing it was a little light on plot and sometimes the transitions were hard to follow from one chapter to the next. More than once I found myself having to reread sentences to make sure I understood it correctly. Overall I was very satisfied with the story though.

I enjoyed the story and the spice was decent but I felt like the storyline and timeline of things jumped around a lot. There were so many off page conversations that made me feel like I was missing chunks of the story, and I kept getting confused by the wording of certain dialogue. I wish things were more clear in the writing style, but the concept was good.

Spicy warning ahead

From almost the first chapter… you could tell this book was going to set the stage for high intensity. I mean who gets served with divorce papers on their anniversary?! Anyway, loved the way Nero loves Miranda. Their chemistry is intense and the story line flowed.

so damn hot

This is the last book in the series and definitely the spiciest. It is very much a standalone but I read “I married a mob boss first then Nikolai’s books then Asher and the Trey. I lived Nikolai’s books hit this was so good and unexpected. It’s spicy and hot! Loved every minute.

Good but weird ending

I think the plot is really good and interesting, lots of spice. The epilogue is confusing because it makes it seem like they broke up because Shiloh makes a comment about it being awkward for her to go to her house. But then she is in lingerie and pregnant so it doesn't flow well. Plus the multiple "like a good little wifey" was super cringey

Nero

Absolutely perfection! Loved Nero and his stalkerish ways! Miranda had been constantly put down and belittled by her crummy husband and fate stepped in and gave her a second chance to be loved and admired and given a beautiful family. Loved the cameo of Nikolai and Justine❤️

WOW, swoon never tasted so good , lick for lick, bite for bite. I am so happy these two showed the world a great FU with all the hype of slender BS. And the twist it took to bring them together was of epic proportions.

Very steamy!

I love a curvy girl story with a bad man who loves her for what she is! Miranda just needed a little boost to her confidence to remind her of her worth and Nero was the perfect man to give it to her! Lots of spice and a good plot!
