Lucas thought all his troubles were over when he fulfilled his ambition to find the succubus Josie Dubois and return her to her parents and their varied supernatural friends on a tropical island paradise. Giving her time to come to terms with her new life, including the unfamiliar freedoms and choices it came with, including whether to make a lifelong bond with him, was the only option for Lucas, but time was not on their side. Her freedom was negotiated, but his was stolen at the cost of vampire lives, and they want their toy back.
Gwen/Josie is free. At the end of book 1, everything came to a head and Gwen learned the truth that she was a kidnapped succubus, not a latent vampire. After fighting, death, and injuries Gwen’s parents arrive as well as a crew of different supernatural beings to negotiate her release and take her back to her parents’ island. The transition isn’t easy for Gwen. She doesn’t know any of these people outside Lucas and that can’t be considered a close bond. When you’ve lived in a cage your whole life, freedom is scarier than any form of abuse you can suffer in the cage and no one seems to truly understand that fact, save maybe Lucas.
Life is idyllic on the Australian island, designed to meet the needs of all the supernaturals there, including the succubus and incubus. But Gwen, now Josie, has to try and figure out how to live without a cage and she and Lucas keep circling. To have sex means to bond and neither knows if they can handle the mental bond they’d have with the other. But something will have to give as Lucas’ past come back to the forefront and drags Josie and her family into a showdown that leaves no one unscathed.
But in the aftermath, Josie and Lucas find what they need to make the last step into the bond and it’s immediate that the bond makes them both stronger, happier people. Winning the Succubus was a satisfying end to the Gwen/Josie story. The author has created a rich world with interesting characters which have much potential if every visited again.
I received a copy of this story courtesy of the author.
The Succubus trilogy came to its end leaving “No way, I wanna more” behind. The line Emma Jaye started this trilogy remains from the beginning to its end, never leaving the “HOT, PAINFULL, HEARTVREAKING, THOUGHTFULL” course. Following the Lucas and Josie lines from the very beginning, we saw a lot of pain and adaptation, survival and commitments, honesty and bravery. I enjoyed seeing them grow and change, seeing them build characters, chose their own course of life, and falling in love, of course. Coping with the past, they look for understanding and acceptance in each other, and knowing for sure they are different, they grew connected against the better judgment of everybody around, proving once again that love needs no approval. There are some books where freshly born “puppies” pure and naïve, without any inner drama (exept their own boredom) play the main roles. They meet, fell in love and have their vanilla pink ‘happily ever after’. The succubus trilogy isn’t it at all. The characters are deep and scarred, they learn to fight, to love, to accept themselves and the others, to find the energy to stand for what they believe, what they love, and to leave the past behind and embrace the future. Totally recommended!
Gwen, whos' come to realize her real name is Josie, has had her whole world shifted off its' axis by Lucas. Beliving was hard at first, but the more he said the more, the more she realized she wasn't a vampire at all but a Succubus. Now that shes free Josie has to learn about the parents who never gave up on her, their friends, and a very confusing Lucas. Being on the island gives her freedoms she's never known before and gives her a chance to find out who she really is.
Josie had her moments of uncertainity, but she came out of it and I loved seeing her character grow into her own. SHe was strong before, but now when you read from her POV you see a spark that wasn't there before.
Lucas knows what he wants even though others don't think it's a good idea. He cares deeply about those he come to think of as family and trusts their opinions, even when he doesn't want to.
I also enjoyed the several other perspectives throughout and seeing things from outside the two main characters viewpoints.
Overall I enjoyed this series, and will definitely read more about these characters in the future.
The last book of the Succubus trilogy is as exciting as fulfilling. Gwen’s transition to Josie is realistic, agonizing and moving. Lucas’ battle against his demons is full of heroism and anguish. And the final face off will have you shivering in excitement.
On the other hand, the sexual tension between the two protagonists is heated, vibrant and so delicious you can’t stop reading. There are some serious hot and much anticipated scenes between these two.
The conclusion of the story is exactly what it should be. Love blooms, wounds heal - not without leaving scars behind, the characters move on to the next level and justice is finally served. I couldn’t think of a better ending for this story and after finishing this book I know I will read this trilogy again.
If you have read the first two books, you will definitely read this one and it will give you all you hoped for. I wish there were more books on Josie and Lucas’ love story. I loved their epilogue but I still want more. I really hope there will be another book about them in the future.
I enjoyed this last book in the tale of Gwen/Josie and Lucas. The two succubi experience quite a bit of tension and verbal foreplay before finally committing to their bond, but only after pivotal questions in the plot come to satisfactory conclusions. Without giving anything away, I want to congratulate the author on keeping the reader thoroughly entertained and entwined in the the stories between the two protagonists. Both of them having suffered abuse come to the conclusion that they are right for each other in a way no one else would ever be able to fulfill. That in itself is touching and unique especially when dealing with the hyper-sexually active succubi. This series has plenty to offer the paranormal erotica fan, it almost seems unfair to try and fit these books into one genre as so many themes were explored, sex, violence, love, abuse, horror, forgiveness, self-discovery, and family. Emma Jaye you have certainly earned these 5 stars! Brava!
Perfect ending to an amazing trilogy. The beautiful succubus Josie is reunited with her parents and finally experiences freedom among people who love and care about her. This story starts out with Josie exploring her new found freedom while living on an island paradise with other supernaturals as well as other sex demons like herself. Josie struggles to learn who she really is and figure out what she wants in life. Despite everyone advising against two damaged sex demons bonding with one another, Josie realizes Lucas is for her. However, when everything seems perfect, Lucus's past comes back to bite them and threatens to destroy their future together. This book is very romantic, moving, and filled with danger, action and hot sex to include one MFM. With all of the torture and torment that Lucas and Josie experienced in the first two books, I am so glad to see them have such a wonderful happy ending.
A fitting end to the trilogy, Josie starts to learn how to be a free person and comes to terms with being a succubus not the vampire she's always believed she is. Steamy scenes together with an interesting plot twist at the end when someone from Lucas' past comes calling.
I loved this series and I hope Emma Jaye decides to expand on some of the other characters in this book, reapers, werewolves and sirens oh my!
Another Great Story! If you've been following my reviews, you'd know that this isn't your normal succubus story. Yes, there is a lot of erotic behavior but it's only to enhance the story. There is a very real and interesting story here. In this story, Gwen/Josie is on the island with her family. Lucas wants to bond with her but he wants to give her time to adjust to her new surroundings. Josie is trying to find herself as Josie. She has people around her that love and are trying to help her adjust. The problem is that Lucas seems distant to her and she is feeling mixed feelings from him. Everything is going smoothly until a vampire from Lucas' past shows up with an abused incubus saying that he saved him from his vampire clan. Then all the fun starts...
Price Given to me from author in exchange for an honest review of trilogy
Content MF sex with multiple partners
Review may contain spoilers, read with caution/Other content
This is the final book in the SUCCUBUS trilogy. The premise is about Lucas and Josie bonding. They obviously have a physical attraction, both being sex demons. I believe Lucas' connection goes deeper because he was able to rescue Josie. His protective instincts kick into overdrive. While the series has been able to impress me with content this last book was a bit of a letdown.
The main thing I has a problem with and perhaps I did not quite understand it. Is why they allow the people responsible for Lucas' capture to be anywhere near him or any other sex demons for that matter. Josie has a little brother that could easily be taken.
Overall this last book wraps things up nicely but the subplot of Lucas going through one final mind fuck was a bit over blown. I could have done with lots more "sex on de island". I would have been happier reading about different scenes between Josie and other partners. Perhaps seeing Lucas deal with jealousy issues instead of more abuse. It is apparent he is scarred.
Rating Heat: 2 out of 5 (Tame) Overall 3 of 5 (I liked it)
