Abby and Josh have weathered a few storms as they settled into their new life in Wildflower Valley, and now it's summer and time to grow their garden! New joys and challenges await as they start this new season and enjoy their spacious house addition... there's finally enough room for Abby's father to come and live with them, but is he having second thoughts? Meanwhile Bethany makes new friends, William has an unexpected chess partner, and Rose gets her precious kitten at last. But will Jack have enough self-control to learn how to fire a gun--and can Josh trust him with it? As they pull together to face new setbacks and opportunities, the Bryants will have to discover if they have what it takes to keep going.
The third book in the heartwarming and joyful Wildflower Valley series, for fans of Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons.
Kate is the USA Today-bsetselling author of many books of both historical and contemporary fiction. Under the name Katharine Swartz, she is the author of the Tales from Goswell books, a series of time-slip novels set in the village of Goswell.
She likes to read women's fiction, mystery and thrillers, as well as historical novels. She particularly enjoys reading about well-drawn characters and avoids high-concept plots.
Having lived in both New York City and a tiny village on the windswept northwest coast of England, she now resides in a market town in Wales with her husband, five children, and two Golden Retrievers.
I have absolutely enjoyed this series! It’s so light and easy to read. It’s SOOO outside of my comfort zone from what I would usually read but I really resonate with the story. They move from the city to the country to start homesteading and that’s very similar to my life with my husband moving to the country and getting cows and chickens and figuring it out as we go. I will continue the rest of the series. I have been reading it with my seniors in an assisted living facility and they LOVE it. Most of them can’t see to read so I read to them in our book club twice a week and they have absolutely enjoyed this story. They want to keep going each time we finish one in the series. Can’t wait for book 4.
I am enjoying this series immensely, following the family with their wins and struggles learning to homestead. Maybe because its something that I considered and would have enjoyed with a willing partner. Living vicariously through characters in a book is one of the many pleasures to enjoy about reading. This book ended much too quickly! I highly recommend the series.
This is a delightful read that is wholesome and all about making changes. A journey into homesteading from a life in the big city and all the changes that you learn to adapt to , things you take for granted, and the things that are yet to come. Wonderful characters and their life issues and growing changes in them. Once you pick up this book you will be hooked. A must read. Enjoy
Enough time has gone by that the Bryant family is starting to feel some successes. Relationships change. Bethany branches out. A friend comes to visit but the pressure of so many jobs around the land weighs heavily on outside commitments. Abby is particularly stressed out. Will her father's faith help her believe? Can they keep the farm or will financial difficulties get in their way?
The family are complete newbies, learning to homestead, making mistakes, & finding the joy in quiet moments. Plenty goes wrong, & the setbacks make for challenges. Friends make the difference, even as some are departing, others’ grow deeper. Family is always at the center, love remains a constant.
This series has been so easy and such a pleasure to read….i feel like i am watching from the front porch. I’ve laughed with them and cried with them and rejoiced at the all the successes…can’t wait to start #3 and find out what else will happen at the homestead!
Kate has a way of writing making you feel you are having a long visit with an old friend telling you about her life and now I wait as she puts the coffee pot on for her to continue with her story.
This is such a good series and I am reading a book in 12 hrs. The challenges keep coming, some worse than others but Josh and Abby and the children keep moving forward. Looking forward to the next book
I love this book and the series which I've been binge-reading. It is absolutely engrossing! I'm also planning on reading everything Kate Hewitt has written.
