J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and International bestselling author of over seventy novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.

Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, Victorian-era thrillers (coming soon), and paranormal mommy lit.

Her foray into the latter, Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner, has been consistently in development in Hollywood since prior to publication. Most recently, it has been optioned by Warner Brothers Television for development as series on the CW Network with Alloy Entertainment producing.

JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swopn for him.” A three time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy).

Her books have sold well over a million copies and are published in over over twenty countries.

In her previous career as an attorney, JK worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced primarily civil, entertainment and First Amendment litigation in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as in Austin, Texas. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.

Wow, what a little scorcher! Ty and Claire had great chemistry together and their love scenes singed the pages, no doubt about it. I wasn't completely sold on the insta-coupling in the beginning - I can't put my finger on it, but something didn't work for me - but I had no problems believing their falling in love later. It was fast and furious, but I was OK with it. I also had a bit of a problem with Claire's behavior near the end, as I'm not a fan of ultimatums and what she did came close to being one. All things considered, the "bad" stuff wasn't annoying enough to ruin the story for me and I ended up enjoying it very much.

Actually this book is more like a 2.75* . . . but I always believe in rounding up the stars on a review for an author just to be fair. I think KarlynP was pretty spot-on in her review of this one . . . it started out with some great potential storylines that just felt very "flat" and unimaginatively executed on in the long run. The story became more and more boring, and the sex scenes were cliche' and just fizzled for me (same words, same scenarios and nothing new or interesting - seemed to come from the "how to write a romance" manual).

The characters had some dimension, but again, sort of fell off into oblivian [*yawn*:] as the story played out. One aspect of the heroine that was particularly annoying was she somehow expected the hero to be able to stop some "media pictures" from being published or she would cut off their relationship. Her statement to the effect of, "If there is one more publicly splashed compromising picture of us that appears in the media, it's over!" Since the pictures included BOTH of them in the activity, and the hero had nothing whatsoever to do with them being publicized (in fact he was as put off by it as she was) . . . I don't know why she seemed to blame him for it, nor how she expected him to prevent it altogether unless he stopped seeing her! The statement from her made no sense to me and I took a distinct disliking to her after that.

Unfortunately, although this wasn't an "awful" book, I just don't have anything I can really recommend about it to readers. I'd choose something else in hindsight.

This story was slightly tied in with Ms. Kenner's previous HB, Starstruck where friends Alyssa and Claire made a Christmas pact of going after what they want. Alyssa got her friend-turned-boyfriend Chris, now it was Claire's turn.
But unlike Alyssa and Chris' story, this one packed quite a punch.

There was no skirting around the sex issue with Claire and Ty. Once they set eyes on each other, all bets (and clothes) were off, making this one a smokin' scorcher of a book. I wish it was longer, because boy did these two have chemistry. Fireworks went off with just one look, so you can imagine what more went off when they were alone. Boy, oh, boy.

Of course we cannot do without some tension and drama, and this one packed quite a punch in that department as well. What do you get when you mix a career-oriented lawyer about to go to work in the private sector with a tabloid-favorite Texas boy who owns several L.A. clubs? Drama, drama, drama, when the paparazzi get wind of what is going on with them, and their pictures appear on blogs, celebrity pages, and Twitter.
But lucky for me, the drama was very "tastefully" written, sad and a little heart-breaking, but not overdone and eye-roll inducing.

I loved this little book. The two leads, their predicament, their set-the-sheets-on-fire chemistry, the drama, the steam, the phone convos at night...Awww...Smokin'!

Moonstruck is my first Julie Kenner read... I got the book in 2010 from Paperback Swap and had it sitting on my shelf until pulled it down to read to sort of put me in the mood for Valentine's Day... It did, oh boy did it ever!
I loved the beginning where Claire and Ty meet, a crowded room on New Year's Eve and their eyes meet and POW a connection is made... When the two actually bump up against each other and Claire goes up on tiptoe and lays one on him at Midnight you can see the fireworks go off on the pages of the book!
I normally do not read Harlequin romance books, it has been many years in fact since I have had as many on my bookshelves as I do now... This book though was just what I needed to get my heart pumping, my blood flowing and my imagination into steamy overdrive...
What was the best part of the book was the fact that both main characters did not feel cliqued, they were each unique people who felt very much like a couple that I would be more than happy to be friends with.. They both had integrity and grit and passion for life and especially insatiable passion for each other!
The sex scenes were very "naughty" and also very well paced, the main story of how the two worked out their differences to allow the budding relationship to work out in the end was very well though out and played out in a manner that felt natural to each characters personality...
There were a few snafus that almost caused Claire and Ty to be over before they even started, luckily they were able to work through those and in doing so had some very soul searching moments that cemented the relationship...
I am very happy to say that I enjoyed the book, enjoyed the scenes in the story line where Claire and Ty at last both came to the conclusion that their love was worth fighting for and the resulting HEA was well worth the wait!
Now I can say that as a new fan am looking forward to reading the rest of the books on my shelf by Julie Kenner ... I have her trilogy of The Blood Lily Chronicles and the two books in her Beth Frasier series to read... I also have her first three books in her J.K. Beck The Shadow Keepers series which will have 3 more books to add to it in January-March release of 2012.. I am excited to read all of these and hope you will join me in making Ms. Kenner's books your next reading experience!

Enjoyable New Year Romance
4 stars

Claire Daniels is dateless on New Year's Eve and not happy about it. When she sees her ex boyfriend with a new woman just as midnight strikes she grabs the nearest man to her and kisses him instead. Only, he doesn't want to stop at just one kiss...

It turns out that the man Claire kissed is none other than Ty Coleman - club owner, multi-millionaire and the biggest, and sexiest, playboy in Dallas. Claire is happy to start her New Year with a bang but Ty is leaving in 2 months and it's all fun and games until someone loses their heart.

This books follows on from Kenner's Christmas romance, Starstruck , although it completely stands alone.

The book itself is well written and kept my interest throughout. The characters of Ty and Claire were both likeable and had good chemistry meaning that the sex scenes were nicely hot like you would expect from a Blaze romance. I could have done with a bit more emotional attachment and conflict. Although there was the necessary obstacle for the pair to overcome to make sure they could have their happily ever after, it wasn't really something that couldn't easily be solved making the conflict quite weak.

Overall, this was an easy book to read and a sweet, romantic story. If you're looking for something quick to read on a cold night then I would recommend this to you. 4 stars.

Schade drum.

Seriously...this was the dumbest book I have read in a long time. The heroine, Claire, is an attorney who one day wants to be a judge. She meets a handsome, rich...did you hear RICH, successful, respected businessman, Ty, who happens to have a bit of a playboy reputation. Some paparazzi shoots a picture of them kissing on...wait for it...New Year's Eve...GASP!...posts it on an internet blog and suddenly her pristine reputation is in peril. Really??? Give me a break. It's not like he's not a rich successful guy. They are both single...what's the problem? On top of that Ty wants to open more nightclubs, his business, overseas and Claire just can't be a "fling"...Ok after 2 days and basically one hook up she's worried about being a fling? How about you give the guy a chance. He was not even supposed to leave for at least 2 months. Anyway, I could go on about the stupidness of this plot. My recommendation...don't waist your time.

Most of the books I've read by Ms Kenner tap into her humor side. This one was a bit serious.

Ok, so what happens when you meet the man/woman of your dreams at a New Years party, have a one night stand lasting a good 12 hours, and find yourself all over the internet because he/she is famous?

Half the book was dedicated to that 12 hours. The rest was the next several weeks as they worked out the bugs in their relationship. She, being a lawyer and senator's daughter, didn't want her face all over the gossip rags, especially if he was only interested in a fling. He, having found The One, was trying to figure out how to make it work since his business expansion plans included a lot of traveling.

Obviously they worked it out. The v. small intrusions of friends were of the sort one can tolerate, though I was annoyed at her friend for insisting she go to the party in the first place.

Wow! Very steamy little audiobook - and the narrator did a fantastic job with it. The chemistry between Ty and Clair was electrifying, and sizzled throughout. I personally would have liked to learn more about these characters, as I believe I would really like them. Clair is strong and determined, and, I felt, a bit diminished by the fact that very little took place outside of the bedroom (figuratively, as they certainly did not contain themselves within bedroom walls!). I also would have liked to see a little more follow- up with Joe - there was a lit more to be said there.
Despite the fact that I did not feel this story gave me enough character development, I will be looking for more by Kenner!

This was the first Blaze book in a long time that I didn't really care for, and I love the Blaze line. I think for me Claire and Ty's story felt too blazing for me. Their relationship seemed more based on mutual desires rather than any other interests that the two might share.

Sure Claire & Ty hooked up on New Year's Eve as a result of Claire seeing her ex with a hot new girlfriend but the relationship that follows just seems hurried. I wanted to know a lot more about both characters who were very likable but really couldn't get past the bedroom, the couch, or the elevator.

I really wanted more story with this one and less sex.

Definitely naughtier than the rest of her books. It was seriously hot and very detailed. Good storyline and her characters are interesting and for the most part realistic. The dialogue is fun as always in a Julie Kenner book. The only thing in the negative I could say and I apply this to all her Harlequin books, you really feel that Harlequin has had her stick to a certain formula. It really says a lot for Julie's writing that it is not as obvious as in many Harlequin books.

I enjoyed the second installment of this series. It's nice to have a hero who can admit his feelings instead of runnig from them and being mean to the heroine. Also, liked the fact the heroine didn't have to choose between love and career.

Honestly, to me this book was a bit cheesy. Girl randomly makes out with a guy to make ex jealous, finds out he is rich, can't keep off each other, has problems, but end up together and the end. Basically that's about it. I did finish this, but wouldn't recommend it to many or read it again.

A fun romp - despite the premise, it somehow managed to avoid a cliched ending and present a believable dynamic between the characters.

Fluff romance without most of Kenner’s usual flair. Still a solid story with decent characters, it’s not something that’s going to bear reareading.
