The Leblanc Brothers #3

The Grump: The Leblanc Brothers

Rate this book
I love my job. So, when a grumpy grouch wants to shut us down, I’m ready for the fight of my life. I was heading for serious career burnout until my dream job came true. Making pralines for a living has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. So, it comes as quite a shock when I find out that the owner wants to shut down the LeBlanc-Broussard confectionery because it’s not profitable. My hope is that I can win him over. Once he realizes how integral the confectionery is to the city, to the very makeup of New Orleans he’s bound to agree, right?

Wrong.

Xander LeBlanc is a grump, and it’s questionable whether he has a heart at all! Though I’m ashamed to admit I was blindsided by how hot he is — definitely a 10+. Unfortunately, his personality is a zero. All he’s concerned about are profits and not the charitable work the business is known for.

But suddenly, Xander begins to show up at various events we sponsor. When he arrives at the children’s hospital where I hand out treats during the holiday season, I see an entirely new side to him when he starts playing The Grinch for the kids! When he takes me home later that evening things between us escalate. He confesses that he's been attracted to me from day one and let’s just say, the man has hot skills in bed.

But the inevitable closing of the confectionary still weighs heavy on my mind and I don’t know if I can separate the two. Can I love a man who wants to take away the only joy I have in life? But the bigger question is…

Can I melt the ice around his heart and find my way inside it for longer than a few nights?

Xander is known as the grump of the LeBlanc brothers. He’s all about numbers. He wants to close down the LeBlanc and Broussard Confectionery because it’s in the red. What he didn’t understand until Bailey made him see that the confectionery isn’t about making money it’s about how the people love their pralines. They always go to various charities and the children’s wing of the hospital during Christmas time. Bailey calls Xander the grinch since he isn’t exactly cold hearted. He falls for her, learns to tolerate Christmas and isn’t all about the numbers anymore when it comes to the Orleans Conglomerate.

Pralines

You do know you don’t bake Pralines, right? Ruined the entire story for me. I’m sorry just couldn’t get past that.

My Gosh, SO much to love about this!
Holiday romances are some of the most fun books for me to curl up with, and this one certainly earned its place as a top holiday read for me!
This is a fantastic take on the “grumpy” scrooge-type romance where MMC boss is working on a deal to take over the MFC’s company for his gain. This reminds me of the cute Hallmark Christmas movies, but with the absolutely delicious spice that we alllll miss from said movies.
I loved that this story had a solid plot, had the perfect length and was the spice we all crave along with a fun and cozy Christmas romance.

I loved Xander and Bailey’s story in Layla Hagen’s latest installment of The LeBlanc Brothers series so much and I could not put it down. Xander is all about business and making a profit until Bailey shows him there is more than that in life. I really enjoyed seeing grumpy Xander open his heart to love and find more time to be with his family. The Grump was a heartwarming, romantic story that will have you smiling and feeling happy.

The Grump is the next installment in the Leblanc brothers series. I have been enjoying this series so far and the brothers are so much fun. The Grump was a delightful read filled with a great romance. Xander and Bailey were as opposites as he can be. Xander only focus is really about the business while Bailey is all about the enjoyment of life. Their initial meeting is not the best as Xander wants to close the confectionary where Bailey works. However Xander can not get Bailey out of his mind so he starts to be where she is and they strike up a friendship of sorts that leads to so much more. I loved seeing how Bailey brought out the sweet and fun side of Xander. Once Xander realized there is so much more than the bottom line, he is more open and lighthearted and happy. Xander and Bailey were such an adorable couple. They were just the right fit. All their interactions and banter were amusing, charming, and steamy. Of course when you get the Leblanc family-they are a hoot! The ribbing between the brothers was awesome and out of love. And the grandmothers are the best. Overall, this story was the right read for the holiday season. It was just full of warmth and love. Now we get a little glimpse of which brother is next and I am so excited for that one. Layla Hagen never disappoints me and always gives me what I need.

Grinch Nixs Sweets

Bailey and her sister Avery, distributes and makes custom pralines to children, adults, Charles and hospitals. She meets Xander, who is one of the family owners, who feels if it isn't making a profit, it needs to be shutdown or sold. Their story shows that even a Scrooge can find the Christmas spirit.

This story would have gotten higher stars if the author had taken the time to do research on how pralines are actually made. Her error is glaringly obvious again and again throughout the story. Also, she needs an proofreader, as she ends with the name of the wrong brother whose story is concluded.

Xander is the numbers man in the Leblanc family and corporation. That's why he wants to shut down the grandmothers' confectionary because it's in the red. And that's the wrong color for this numbers man. But when he meets Bailey, one of the two sisters who run the place, suddenly he's not thinking all about the business side. He's starting to see that the heart that their pralines are made with, the love they bring to everyone around them, from their walk-in customers all the way to the patients at the hospital they donate pralines and their time to, are what really matter. What's a Grinchey grump to do when he's met with a ray of sunshine? Find out if she's as sweet as her pralines, and open up his heart to the magic of the holidays and the possibility of love.

Xander and Bailey are so freaking sweet together and I didn't stop smiling the whole way through. Xander really didn't know what hit him from the minute he laid eyes on Bailey. I do so love it when grumpy meets sunshine and falls head over heels and doesn't even realize it until he's so far gone he couldn't possibly get away even if he wanted. Coupled with the sweetness of the holidays, the meddling of his grandmas and her sister - there's no way these two weren't going to fall in love this Christmas.

I’m going to give the latest addition to Hagen’s LeBlanc Brothers series 3 stars because even I’m not a big enough grump or a grinch to go lower. I have to be honest. I’ve read a previous series by a different author which like this one was based upon the siblings of a wealthy New Orleans family who are responsible for running its many businesses, and how they fell in love. While both series have a lot in common, I found its characters far more interesting than this one. The LeBlanc brothers to me come across as too much like stiff one-dimensional stereo-types. This is not a bad series, its just IMHO mediocre.
I don’t remember when exactly I downloaded this book intended to be Hagen’s obligatory Christmas offering on K.U. but I never got around to reading it until after the New Year. It’s an opposites attract story where Xander LeBlanc the CFO of the LeBlanc-Broussard business empire, the Orleans Conglomerate, plays the Grinch, only interested in increasing profits for his family’s empire until Bailey who embodies the Spirit of Christmas, who with her sister Avery runs the conglomerate’s small confectionary business which apparently only makes pralines, helps melt his cold heart and find love and the true joy of life.
Now the story itself is holiday sweet (and I mean that in a positive way) if predictable opposites attract trope. Bailey is smart, fun, bubbly and sexy. Her sister Avery only plays a minor role in the story. Baily is the creative half of the sister duo who creates new and amazing praline recipes to add to the ones they were given by the LeBlanc-Brousard grandmothers who founded the confectionary.
Xander first comes off as this emotionless creature. Xander isn’t really a bad guy. He’s just so caught up in thinking his life is only about the responsibility of reading financial spreadsheets and helping the companies he and his five brothers inherited from their parents (who inherited them from their parents) make ever more money that he doesn’t realize there’s more to life than work and increasing his family’s wealth. Well okay, at some point he’s had time to develop his skills as an excellent lover as Bailey discovers late in the book so it couldn’t always have been all work and no play for Xander. Plus, Bailey tells us Xander is a physical specimen so he must find time to workout. But for the most part Xander is hunkered down at his desk and has no social life beyond the occasional family gathering.
Here’s my main problem with this story. The confectionary was started by Xander’s grandmothers (whom before retiring were top flight NOLA chefs) as a place to go and blow off some steam by producing New Orleans most delicious pralines. Which they then supplied to the conglomerates many restaurants and bars and gave away a lot to different charities. So, the confectionary was never intended to and has never made a profit. How could it when its only customers were family businesses and charities that were supplied to at no cost. Xander seems totally oblivious to this fact, the value the pralines by being on their menus bring to the family’s food service businesses or to the good will for the LeBlanc-Broussard name the charitable donations of these delectable pralines earns the family. It doesn’t matter to him that the confectionary was a passion project of his grandmothers that they have entrusted to Bailey and Avery, or that the Conglomerate can well afford to absorb the financial losses of keeping it going. Incredibly with his tunnel vision all he can see is the red ink of the bottom line.
Xander promises his grandmothers that before he makes a decision to sell or close the confectionary he’ll visit it. When he does he meets Bailey and suddenly Xander LeBlanc’s world gets turned upside down. He doesn’t know why but he knows he’s incredibly drawn to the beautiful, endlessly cheerful woman, who at first knowing why he’s there, despite finding him incredibly handsome, isn’t exactly warm and welcoming to him. And Xander bless his clueless heart at first can’t help but keep sticking his foot in his mouth unintendedly insulting Bailey. Xander finds he can’t stay away from Bailey and keeps finding excuses to be in her orbit. And the more she’s around Xander the more Bailey realizes while he may be a grump he’s a really good guy. And the more Xander is around Bailey the more she brings out the lighter side in him. The rest of the story is very predicable if entertaining.
The couple from the first book in this series and their daughter Bella are frequent characters in this story but while they are mentioned a few times Georgie and Julian the protagonists from the second book never make an appearance. Not even at the family’s holiday celebrations. Which I found disappointing. And then somebody really blew the proofreading because at the end of the story the author tells us, “This is the end of Juian’s story.” Oops wrong LeBlanc.

Layla Hagen has done it again! I absolutely LOVED The Grump! It is the third book in her The LeBlanc Brothers series. I loved every moment on every page of The Grump it was impossible to put down. The Grump was one of the most enjoyable books that I have read recently. Layla Hagen is a must-read author for me. She definitely did not disappoint her readers with The Grump and has once again delivered an incredible story filled with everything that I love in sizzling romance stories. Who does not love hot sexy men, who make you swoon, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? I loved meeting the LeBlanc siblings. The Grump is an enemies to lovers love story of numbers loving, Xander LeBlanc, self-appointed CFO of The Orleans Conglomerate and Bailey LeCarre, chocolatier for the confectionary along with her sister, Avery. The Orleans Conglomerate compasses a multitude of establishments in New Orleans. His grandmothers created the confectionary, but now employ Bailey and Avery to create the LeBlanc and Broussard pralines that are mostly created as charitable donations. It is the only business that is not profitable and Xander is considering selling the business. Xander is immediately fascinated with Bailey when they meet. I love all the little things that Xander does for Bailey. Things heat up between Bailey and Xander as they spend time together with Bailey helping Xander understand the importance of the pralines created by the confectionary. I love that once again Isabeau and Celine create a fragrance just for Bailey. Conversation between Bailey and Xander flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Xander constantly flirting with Bailey. I love Bailey and Xander’s love story, and how a plot twist changes things for Xander and Bailey’s relationship. I love that Bailey calls Xander, Grinch since he is not a fan of Christmas. I love the changes that Xander and Bailey make in their lives to have a life with one another. I love how Layla Hagen always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy men. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the picture on the cover of the book into the love story. I am not sure how she does it, but Layla Hagen has once again given her readers another amazing book. She has once again proven that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love knowing what the main characters are thinking and feeling. Layla Hagen creates such wonderful and memorable characters and has once again done this in The Grump. I love Bailey and Xander’s story and the descriptions of the New Orleans settings. I love the characters and the family dynamic in The Grump, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoy all the interactions among the LeBlanc siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I loved catching up with the other characters in the series. I love Isabeau and Celine and the fragrance that they created for Bailey which included their secret additive, lilac and how Bailey loved the fragrance. I loved the bittersweet and poignant moments, as well as the unexpected plot twists that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story. The Grump is filled with all those elements especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. The Grump was a wonderful love story. My favorite part of the story is Xander’s proposal to Bailey, the significance of the engagement ring, and how it did not go off as planned. I love how the epilogue hints as to what happens next for the LeBlancs. I cannot wait to read more books about the other LeBlanc brothers. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

I was most excited to read about Xander, just because of his reputation in the other books. He’s work motivated and doesn’t give his time to anything else unless he promises or if it’s absolutely necessary. Even then, he still may not make an effort. I was curious to see how his story would play out. I was wondering what it would take for Xander to lose his control and fall in love. Little did I know that all it took was a glance at Bailey and he was a goner. I enjoyed reading how he changes his priorities in this book and starts making appearances more with the family and at public events. It was also fitting that Christmas would play a theme in this story too which I wasn’t expecting at all, so that was a nice surprise. I loved how it wasn’t the main purpose of the book but was nice background for it and focused on Bailey and Xander. While it was refreshing to not have both the hero and heroine hate each other, nor be competitive, I found myself thinking I wanted just a bit more from this book. I wanted just a bit more angst, passion and intensity. I guess I’ve been on a binge with reading more books that had this because it seems like every book I’ve read the past few times fell slightly flat with this except for the Wolves of Wall Street series and I would even say the last book I read regardless of how it was conveyed. This one had the chemistry between Xander and Bailey but I wish they expressed it more heavily. I wish there were more moments when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other or he just had his way with her, obviously with consent. That is my only complaint about this book and why it didn’t get a 5 from me. What I did enjoy about this was Xander slowly working less and embracing his family and Bailey. It was nice to see him put moments in time first rather than spend it at his desk working numbers or trying to seek facts. I wouldn’t call him a grump per say, more like a workaholic because he knew how to treat his employees well, he participated with his family in some events and he made time to see them though it was few and far between. He didn’t completely shut them out or refuse to see them because he didn’t like the dynamics or shenanigans, nor did he deny the Christmas spirit or refuse to do things relating to it. In fact, I don’t think “The Grump” really describes him at all because I didn’t get that from him. Sure, his family gave him a hard time about it, and Bailey called him that a few times but it sounded more like a term of endearment rather than an insult. When I think of a grump, I think of a person who has grievances about things that made him that way, a trauma or a bad experience with love or trusting someone. Xander didn’t have this but I get why the author perceived him to be that way. Either way, it was a good story and I enjoyed reading about Xander’s changes and loved Bailey’s attitude. The next one seems like there will be more of a fight to let each one in, but then again, that’s what I initially thought about this one too and it pleasantly surprised me.

The Grump is book three in Layla Hagen’s The Leblanc Brothers and this time she takes us back to New Orleans for Christmas. A sweet and steamy love story between Xander LeBlanc and Bailey LeCarre. An opposites attract, grumpy / sunshine, slow burn holiday romance! The story focuses on Xander falling in love with Bailey and Bailey trying to make him fall in love with Christmas.

"No one had ever stoked such a fire inside me or made me lose my head that way."

Xander is a CFO and loves his job looking after the finances for the family business. He is very focused and because his life revolves around numbers, his family call him a grump. His grandmothers think he has a heart of stone when he announces he wants to sell the LeBlanc & Broussard confectionery as it is not making a profit.

His grandmothers started the confectionery business but it is now run by the LeCarre sisters - Avery and Bailey. They changed careers a few years ago to make the pralines and their work is important to them as they have created something very unique. When the sisters find out what Xander has planned, Bailey is determined to make him change his mind. She loves making the pralines and refuses to allow him to turn her life upside down.

Xander has never visited the confectionary or met Bailey before. He’s surprised how beautiful she is and feels a real pull to her. He can’t believe his reaction to her and it totally throws him off balance. He can’t get this sassy woman out of his mind and it is a case of insta-love for him.
She calls him Grinch but is attracted to the handsome grump. She is determined to show him why she loves Christmas and I loved all the events she takes him to. The eggnog incident was funny and how he starts turning up wherever she is.

“Oh, you’re such a Grinch.”
“Stop saying that or I’ll kiss you right here in the middle of the street,” I growled.

There is far more to their business than he ever suspected so will he change his mind once he sees and understands what they did, bringing people happiness by making pralines. For someone who is a confirmed bachelor, he quickly starts calling her his girlfriend. His three younger brothers tease him, especially when he starts acting out of character and is a completely different person around her.

Their situation is complicated and she has doubts over if they would work as a couple especially if he goes ahead with the sale. Will she persuade him to keep it open, convince him of the wonders of Christmas and succeed in making him see things in a different light? The author again describes New Orleans and all the traditions superbly, that you will feel you are there. Enjoy this holiday romance.

The Grump (The Leblanc Brothers) book two by Laya Hagen is about Xander LeBlanc, the “CFO” or number crunching guy of the Orleans Conglomerate that includes the five businesses his brothers successfully run now that his dad and grandparents retired. He sees his world in terms of what the numbers tell him about a business’s bottom line, and the LeBlanc-Broussard confectionery run by Avery and Bailey LeCarre is losing money. Since it is not a profitable venture, he decides that the solution is to sell it off. The confectionery specializes in making a variety of Praline candy flavors, which are given away at charity events throughout the city. Before Xander can decide to sell the confectionery shop, he has to meet the LeCarre sisters and inform them of what will happen so they can look for another means of employment. When Xander encounters Bailey LeCarre, he is thrown a few curves in the form of the sexy candy maker, which is unexpected as he is instantly attracted to her. The story takes place between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Xander has assured Bailey he will not sell the shop during Christmas, which is their busiest time to donate candy to various charities. Bailey sends Xander a spreadsheet listing all the charities and businesses for which she will hand out confectionaries. So, he decides to shadow her to see how the candy donations are run. Throw in a few nights of Xander helping Bailey get orders filled, and when an accident puts a crimp in the candy making, he and his brothers show up to help her out and begin to thaw out Xander’s cold approach to “just business.” Bailey and Xander start to grow close and give in to the heat and sparks that ignite whenever they are together. Xander in The Grump transforms from being a black-and-white numbers bottom-line guy to losing his heart to a beautiful candy maker who loves all her being when she falls. Layla Hagen is an expert in writing romance, bringing two of the most unlikely couples together as they search out their HEA.

Layla Hagen returns readers to New Orleans just in time for Christmas and New Orleans at Christmas is really something to behold.

As are the two main characters LeBlanc brother Xander. Who is the number cruncher of the LeBlanc Broussard Organisation and chocolatier Bailey. Who along with her sister Avery is solely responsible for making the pralines that LeBlanc Broussard are famous for.

And it's fair to say Bailey and Xander couldn't be more different. As Xander is completely serious, a total grinch and the only woman he ever has any intention of taking on dates is his ten year old niece Bella. Where as Bailey is cheery, loves her job and all things Christmas.

So, when Bailey learns from Xanders grandmothers that Xander is seriously thinking of either closing down the confectionery business Bailey and her sister are heartbroken. But determined to make the most of the situation and prove that just because the business isn't profitable doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.

However, Xander is determined that once the Christmas period is done the business will go. But he doesn't count on just how passionate and gorgeous Bailey is and even though they get off to a rocky start he keeps going back for more.

And he soon finds himself surprised. As well as laughing and smiling more and even enjoying things he swore he'd never enjoy.

But no matter how much fun he has. He still has a big dilemma on his hands as the business his grandmothers started as a passion project is haemorrhaging money and the only sensible thing for the numbers guy to do would be to close it.

Wouldn't it?

And with the perfect amount of spice and sentiment. Not to mention great character development. Christmas spirit, family feels and soulful story telling.

The Grump is a story you can't help but fall in love with, and everyone loves the Grinch at Christmas, don't they?

I would happily recommend The Grump to all.

My thanks to Layla Hagen & Wildfire Marketing Solutions for my copy of The Grump ☺️

I recently read The Grump by Layla Hagen, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! This book is part of the LeBlanc Brothers series, and it perfectly captures the essence of holiday romance set in the vibrant backdrop of New Orleans.

From the start, I found Xander LeBlanc to be an intriguing character. He’s the quintessential "grump," a serious CFO who sees the family confectionery as a financial burden. However, his interactions with Bailey LeCarre, the passionate chocolatier, really drew me in. The contrast between Xander’s serious nature and Bailey’s sunny disposition created such a compelling dynamic. Watching Xander slowly transform as he learns to appreciate not just the business but also the joy and community spirit behind it was truly heartwarming.

The plot flowed smoothly, mixing holiday cheer with romantic tension. I loved how Hagen balanced humor with heartfelt moments, especially through the witty banter between Xander and Bailey. The secondary characters added depth to the story too, particularly Xander’s supportive family. They really highlighted the themes of love and tradition that resonated throughout the book.

Hagen's writing style is vibrant and engaging. She paints a vivid picture of New Orleans during Christmas, making me feel like I was right there in the festive atmosphere. The descriptions were so rich that I could almost taste the pralines! I appreciated how she blended humor with poignant moments, making this story not just about romance but also about what truly matters—love, community, and family.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed The Grump! It’s a charming holiday romance that combines humor, warmth, and relatable characters. While it follows some familiar tropes, Hagen's storytelling makes it stand out in a crowded genre. I would definitely give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy read filled with festive cheer and romantic sparks!

This is the third book in the series and is the story of Xander and Bailey. This is another sweet (<-- see what I did there!) love story filled with plenty of heat. I love that it takes place during the holidays. I’ve never given much thought to Christmas in New Orleans, but it was nice to have a new backdrop for a holiday story.

Xander is labeled the grump by his family and I feel kinda bad for him because he isn’t too bad – sort of a lovable grump. He is bottom line focused and is all business, all the time except when it comes to Bella. Making money for the family is something he takes very seriously and has absolutely no room in his portfolio for businesses that don’t make money. He decides that the Confectionary needs to go but when he goes to tell the bakers, he meets Bailey and begins to see what his life is missing.

Bailey is a sweetheart who changed careers in order to make herself happy. She chased the dream and made great money only to discover that she was so unhappy. While she was taking a break from her stressful job, she took a baking class and discovered her passion – baking pralines! She loves her job, loves working with her sister and loves to bake. She is happy on all fronts and it oozes from her. When she meets Xander she begins to see what her life is missing too – love!

This story is well written with great characters, brother banter, little Bella and of course, the grandmas. I love Isabeau and Celine and their ‘magic’. I love getting to visit the rest of the family. I love seeing and learning more about New Orleans and it’s traditions, especially as they relate to Christmas. To me this story is about being open to new things, love and a willingness to change. Looking forward to meeting more LeBlanc brothers!

The Grump by author Layla Hagen is book 3 in the LeBlanc brothers series. This can be read as a standalone however characters do overlap so the series is better read in order . This is Xander and Baileys story

Our MMC, Xander LeBlanc is the numbers guy. He only knows numbers and the bottom line and protecting his family and their businesses is his concern. He becomes drawn to Bailey when he sees her and very soon becomes drawn to her discipline and dedication, which is altering his plans to close this business as it’s constantly in the red.

Now enter Bailey. Bailey and her sister Avery run Xanders family confectionery business. Xander has to make a decision about the confectionery business as it’s not making any money. The ladies start showing him how they run the business and how they pour their hearts into it and like his family states there’s more to a business than dollars.

I loved watching the family Grump find his match. The relationship grows between Bailey and Xander and there is plenty of both chemistry and banter that kept me engaged. I loved to watch Xander change as the story progressed and how Layla balanced Both emotional and chemistry with family dynamics as well

This story for me was a bit slower than the first two but I still overall enjoyed it and will be another hit for Layla.

The Grump
Leblanc brothers #3
Layla Hagen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a sweet holiday ride, I definitely needed. Bailey is all sunshine and roses, loves Christmas but adores the workplace the Confectionery, where the famous Leblanc Broussard pralines are created.

Xander Leblanc is your ultimate Christmas grinch, actually come to think of it, he’s your all year round grinch. The man’s life is numbers, he runs the conglomerate with an iron fist, if it’s not profitable on paper there’s no need to string it along! That’s where the Confectionery, makes itself known. While it creates the best pralines, it doesn’t make a profit, with most sales going to donations especially in the holiday season.

Finding himself face to face with Bailey, he sees another side of the valued employee, but his bedside manner needs some serious work. Bailey and her sister, treat the confectionery like their baby, so when it becomes apparent, it’s in the chopping block, their lives will change forever! While it seems all is lost, Bailey finds herself discovering much more to the eccentric CFO.

As Xander has his sights set to sell off and destroy the dream of 2 ladies, but also his grandmothers, he discovers that it’s Bailey who he wants to be with. He slowly finds that this woman brings him into a version of himself that no one gets to see, with the exception of his niece Bella. Bailey and Xander make a beautiful unconventional couple, it in the best ways!

I love my visits to New Orleans to catch up with the LeBlanc family. This time it’s Xander LeBlanc’s story and he is the most focused brother, he is all business and no pleasure until he meets Bailey……
Xander is the numbers brother and when he last crunched the numbers he knew his grandmothers confectionary wasn’t cutting it and losing money. Knowing this was his grandmothers baby he knew he would need to tread carefully and talk it over with the family before making a final decision to sell. After talks he promises to give the confectionery until after the holiday season and he would meet the two sisters who run it for his grandmothers.
Avery and Bailey love the confectionery and everything it stands for, they run it as if it was their own business and are broken hearted that it could be coming to an end. Bailey is the one Xander becomes close with as he joins her on some of the charity events she attends with the hand made pralines made at the confectionery and as they spend time together feelings come into play. So can Bailey show him that this is business made from love and with a few tweaks maybe they could become profitable and more importantly what happens when these two cross the line …….one click now to find out.
The Grump ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I smiled, I giggled and I cheered this couple on. This is a great addition to the series with wonderful characters and it’s a well written, entertaining story.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩 is the 3rd book in the LeBlanc Brothers series by Layla Hagen, featuring a fun Grumpy/sunshine, holiday romance for Xander and Bailey. He’s the uptight CFO of the Orleans Conglomerate who’s all about the numbers, determined to eliminate the confectionery branch of the business because it doesn’t turn a profit. It was a passion project started by his grandmothers as a way to give back to the community and spread holiday cheer. Xander is a straight-up Grinch, immune to holiday charm… Then he met Bailey, one of the sisters that run the LeBlanc & Broussard praline project. Can Bailey melt the Grump’s heart, and show him that there’s more important things to consider than the bottom line?

Talk about a true Grumpy/sunshine storyline! What a fun way to return to the LeBlanc world! I loved the banter, the yummy tension, the spicy payoff, and the underlying emotion, all wrapped up in a sweet holiday backdrop! Who doesn’t love a pair of scheming, meddling grandmothers with some special perfume?😆 For as gruff as Xander was, his relationship with his niece, was extra sweet!!🥰 I know I’ve said it before, but I 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 watching a truly grumpy man fall, and Xander absolutely was a grinchy grump! However, when he went sweet, he melted my heart!!😍 The epilogue was fantastic, and I can’t wait to find out more about what Zachary is up to!!😉

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

We loved this holiday-themed story from cover to cover. It was fun, flirty, and sexy, grumpy versus pure sunshine, filled with meddling grandmothers and brothers who love to give you a good ribbing and teasing where needed.

Bailey and Xander could not be more different, yet they clicked so perfectly. Bailey calls him the Grinch, and he calls her baby. Bailey was a character we loved from the moment we met her. She is pure-hearted and full of sunshine. Always about positive vibes, she spreads her kindness and love wherever she goes. Even when Bailey is stressed and exhausted, she still spreads her holiday cheer and positive vibes.

Xander is the enemy as Bailey sees him but, the more time they spend together there is a connection there that will not be denied. For Xander Bailey sends the man all off-kilter, he lusting after the woman panting really but, we felt that he was just drawn to her goodness and kindness as she puts her heart and soul into everything she makes and does. A very special woman who stole his heart from the moment they met. We loved Xander as well especially the special relationship he had with his niece so many heart-melting moments.

This is a story that warms your heart and gives you all those feelings you love and when love is found and comes about in the mist most dire of situations it makes things even more special. This story was filled with lots of Holiday Cheer!

This book is Xander’s book. Xander is the eldest brother and the numbers guy. Everything is about the numbers. It is black and white no other way. He was the cruncher and made sure that they always made money. If it was not making money get rid of it. No room for improvement. Xander decided the confectionery was next to go. It was bleeding money on his eyes even though it was used for in house and charity so there wasn’t a chance it would ever be in the black. His grandmothers started the business and they made him promise he would check it out and not do anything int after the holidays. He reluctantly agreed even though he did not see any way around selling. He made good on his word and went to the confectionery where he met the sisters Bailey and Avery. Bailey did something to him but he had no idea at the time what but as time went on, he realized he was developing feelings for her. Bailey called him a grinch which got under his skin because he didn’t think he was being a grinch he was just doing what was best for the family. Bailey set off to show him the reasons to keep it open he was determined to close because after all numbers don’t lie! It is nice to have all the characters pop in and see how the grandmothers conspire to keep it open and match them up. Their chemistry was off the charts it was something neither was looking for but found them. You will enjoy how the baker made the grinch sweet!

It's Christmas time in New Orleans and that means pralines at The Confectionery but will they make it past New Years?

The Grump is the third book in Layla Hagen's Leblanc Brothers series- which means that while this story could of course be enjoyed as a stand alone it is also so much better when read in order with the other books in the series. Xander Leblanc has never really been one to deal well with the people side of business- but numbers, those make sense to him. That is until he starts looking more at his grandmother's first passion project, affectionately known as the Confectionery, and the bubbly Christmas loving baker that runs it, Bailey- and all of the sudden maybe everything isn't just about the bottom line. Xander and Bailey are a classic opposites attract kind of romance. From first glance these two make no sense as Xander is all logic and business- while Bailey is about passion and giving back. But there is this attraction and spark between these two from the very first moment they meet that has Xander throwing logic right out the window no matter how hard he tries to fight it. These two have some sizzle to them too that just adds a whole other layer of perfection to their unique pairing.

Much to the dismay of his family, this is definitely a he falls first romance that moves at a quick-ish pace which is at odds with how Xander usually acts. I love the picture that Layla paints of NOLO at Christmastime and all the exuberant traditions and beauty that is maybe overlooked in favor of the pull of Mardi Gras. While Xander is often categorized as a grump, I love the way that his character has this parallel to the Grinch versus Bailey's Christmas song and tradition loving self and how she without even really trying manages to open Xander's heart to seeing things maybe not so black and white as he once did.

As always I love these large families and all the bods, teasing, and love that comes with them. And of course the not so subtle meddling of Celine and Isabeau. I also adore that this story while it had it's hints of drama didn't have this huge third act blow up but rather this sweetness and heartwarming happy holiday and loving feel. Can't wait for more of the Leblanc Brothers!

"I am absolutely loving this series, especially more so with the addition of Xander's story. Each book features a Leblanc brother, and each brother has their similarities but are also quite different as well. Going by the title, it's no secret Xander is the ""serious"" brother. He's all about numbers and the almighty dollar. He's somewhat on a mission to sell off his family's praline business because it is always in the red. What he doesn't see coming is Bailey.
Stories like this never get old for me. When the H is set in his ways, and comes across cold & heartless, but does a total turnaround when he finds his perfect h.
I just loved these two together. They bring the best out of each other, especially Bailey showing him her compassion and selflessness, it makes Xander more human - for want of a better word.
Hats off to Layla for writing a series with so many brothers - I can't wait to read them all!!" ~Sharon

I am loving this Le Blanc series. Xander and Bailey did not disappoint in this grumpy/sunshine story. Xander and Bailey are so opposite that they work. Bailey brings out a different side in Xander, one he never knew he had in him. Their interactions over the holiday season are heartwarming. It doesn't hurt that the Grandmothers know what woman is best for their grandsons. ~Cindy

Xander LeBlanc
Bailey LeCarre

Xander is the self-appointed CFO of The Orleans Conglomerate run by his five brothers and him. Xander is the no nonsense, detailed, business oriented brother. He doesn’t make business decisions based on emotions. He meets Bailey after telling his Grandparents that he wants to sell off the Confectionery business because it does nothing but bleed money and his Grandmothers send him to meet the LeCarre women who run the business. Bailey loves making Pralines and having left the corporate world due to burnout she doesn’t see herself doing anything else. It’s not even Thanksgiving and Bailey already has Christmas carols playing as she works. Bailey loves the Christmas season even though that’s their busiest season. Xander goes to the Confectionery to see the business and when he meets Bailey something clicks and even though Bailey knows he’s there to see about selling the business, she still is attracted to Xander. Xander starts turning up at events Bailey is at and they start a relationship. This is a very good, fast reading book. I really liked Xander and Bailey. I liked how Bailey helped Xander to see things in a different light for not only the business but himself too. This is a good continuation of the series but could be read as a standalone. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.

The Grump is Xander’s book and I couldn’t put it down. Theres just something about Ms Hagen’s stories that draw you in and make you feel like you are at home with family. This story was no different. It made me smile as well as made my heart incredibly happy.
This is such a feel good read. It’s full of wonderful characters and a family that you just want to be a part of.
I loved everything about this book. It is uplifting, inspirational almost, as well as incredibly entertaining with a side of very sizzling tension!
When Xander meets Bailey, let’s just say Xander isn’t sure what to do with himself. Lol!
I love Bailey, her and her sister do such a fabulous job with the confectionery company.. It isnt until Xander makes a decision that things may not be set in stone that has the ladies understandably upset. However they show him how they do things and what it means to them, especially since they both put their heart and soul into it.
Could the future come crashing down or will Xander see the light and whats most important? Bailey and Xander are fire though and I think they balance each other well! Hehe!
Definitely a book not to be missed. I so cannot wait for more stories in the series to come.
