Tess and Jeremy is the third book in The Yearbook series and is a super quick read (I read it in one afternoon). After several years of marriage and two children Tess and Jeremy have drifted apart. Tess wants something for herself and wants to return to work; Jeremy is happy with the status quo. Tess feels Jeremy doesn't listen or support her; Jeremy doesn't understand why Tess can't be content with staying at home and also bemaons their lack of a sex life. The result is a marriage in crisis.

What I liked: I enjoy the real life circumstances found in Andrews' books. Her stories focus on characters who are just regular people, living their lives, and navigating relationships with sometimes complicated circumstances. There's no melodrama, just good relationship-based stories. I also like the fact that so many of the characters are recurring. Each book focuses on a different couple, but the secondary characters are consistent. Gina and Mike, who were the focus of the first book, have continued to play a part in the following books. Same with Sue and Tom. I'm wondering if there will be future books for Keith/Kris and Rick/Cookie. I like that it gives a feeling of continuity.

What I don't like so much: As with the previous two books, my issue continues to be with the dialogue. It simply does not ring true for me. The one on one conversations between Tess and Jeremy are fine; it's when there are group settings that I feel it becomes an issue. It seems at every gathering, whether it's just the women, just the men, or a mixed group, these characters have absolutely NO boundaries in what they will talk about. They openly and freely discuss their sex lives, intimate details of their relationships, bathroom habits... there is nothing private, nothing off-limits. Anytime the friends are together, they just share the most personal, private information imaginable. I find it so jarring and not at all true to life. I have female friends, male friends, and socialize with couples - and never have we sat around and discussed our sex lives or intimate details or our marriages/relationships. It's so surprising to me that it jars me out of the story every time.

I've found each of the books in this series to be quick, pleasant reads and if there are future books in the series I'm sure I will read them as well.

I love this series but one main reason is it is so very funny and right on. The characters in this book talk about such off the wall topics that are soooo very true it is just comical. If you are reading this book then you already know this is the 3rd in the series about a group of adults that reconnect at their 20 year reunion (well some of them reconnect, some of them remained friends their entire lives). Anyway the topics that these various couples discuss just has me on the floor in stitches. Now in regards to Tess & Jeremy I can't say I loved this book right off the bat. The topic of their demise kind of hit a little too close to a soar subject for me, but as the book continued on the underlying story of them rekindling their marriage hit me. I could relate to the couple having recently also resparked my marriage. The story really took the situation and portrayed it rather accurately. I would highly recommend these books and I have to many people. I hope you enjoy the series as much as I did and I really hope there is more to come.

Tess and Jeremy is such a realistic story. Married life ebbs and flows to create journeys, conflicts and decisions that may or may not be made together. Tess has spirit, passion and the brains to take her far. Jeremy would prefer she suppress her own dreams and settle for his. To some degree is it is a battle of wills that turns out, well, you will just have to read it to find out! It is a great read and a wonderful complement to “Gina and Mike” and “Tom and Sue”! – Sharon Kirchoff

Not so bad

I didn't connect with the characters too much, there was just something about it them that I wasn't too keen on. I didn't like the way it was written either, I didn't think that the quick character changes allowed me to get to know Tess and Jeremy. Having said that, I liked the plot and the grammar was on point.

Like the first book in the series, Tess & Jeremy portrays a difficult time I can relate to. It is easy to forget who we are and lose sight of each other in a marriage, especially with young children. I really enjoyed following along with Tess and Jeremy's journey of rediscovery. I also loved reading about characters we readers have already become so familiar with. It is a wonderful thing to keep seeing them in the series even though the main storyline no longer focuses on them. The banter between characters is some of the best in every book in the series. Keep writing these amazing, realistic stories Buffy! I'll definitely keep reading them ;)
