A fun and quick novella. I really enjoyed both the fmc and the mmc, and the side characters were also well written. I loved seeing Elmas make a little appearance too!
The writing style is smooth and light, exactly what you’d expect from a novella. It took me a little longer to get through, but overall it was still an enjoyable and fast-paced read.
A spicy, fun, and imaginative novella! There was adventure, mystery, humor, danger, sports, magic... I loved it! The MCs were so cute together, and seeing them get to know each other while navigating their two worlds was engrossing. The intimate scenes were haaawt! I'm captivated by the While You Can series and can't wait to dive back into it!
Once again, she captivated me from the beginning to the end. I couldn't put it down. This is my second book by her, I read it directly after the first because I loved her style so much. I am so excited that I have 2 more books to read by her! This book was just as amazing as the other one, and the characters were just as intriguing.
Lila and Odhràn are currently my favourite couple in the While You Can series. From the jump, I warmed up to Odhràn's good looks and his gentle giant personality. Love a guy with long hair and it's red too! But don't be fooled, when it calls for it, that fae really puts his brawn to work. I loved the representation in this book—that one character uses a wheelchair. I also like that there are BIPOC characters involved. When I first met Lila, I thought she was quite funny, and her thoughts about her circumstance made me giggle. I love that Ocean's books can make me laugh. This FMC was so sweet and thoughtful; it was easy for me to fall in love with her!
I enjoyed the magic system here. Just like in Uncursed, Ocean has a creative way of employing rules of magic and spells. She also realistically captured the limits of Lila's powers in interesting ways. I didn't expect to learn about hurling and I enjoyed it. Also, the clever way Ocean helped me understand how to pronounce certain names was much appreciated!
Despite the lightheartedness of the story, there were more dramatic moments that were dealt with respectfully, and whose effects echoed with a satisfying realism thereafter. I thought the violence was tastefully captured, and Ocean had me really hating the villain of the story. There were other conflicts that were expressed well, especially in dialogue, and I thought it added flair to the read.
Of course the spice was scorching hot! Ocean always knows how to add a unique and creative touch to her spice scenes. I was pleasantly surprised by some cameos in there. I won't spoil it for anyone, but they have a way of tying in the colourful and warm universe that Ocean has created.
Untailed is a captivating, fast-paced paranormal romance novella that seamlessly blends magic, mystery, and heart-throbbing chemistry. From the first page, we’re swept into the world of Lila, an orphaned mermaid whose search for answers leads her to the mystical shores of Éire. The twist—she awakens on land, her tail replaced by legs—adds an exciting layer to the story, pulling readers into a magical transformation that feels both fresh and symbolic.
Odrhán, the charming fae hurler, is an instant favorite. Their chemistry crackles with every interaction, and the way his luck changes with Lila’s arrival adds a clever and enchanting twist to the romance.
The emotional stakes are high as Lila stands at the crossroads of love and truth. The tension between chasing the past and embracing a future with Odrhán is beautifully written, making the book not only steamy but deeply heartfelt.
Perfect for fans of fae lore, mermaid mythology, and spicy, high-stakes romance, Untailed is a spellbinding escape that will leave you swooning and wishing for more.
I came across this book on instagram and jumped on it to read it because I love romantasy. All I can say is I'm astonished. The appropriation of Ireland, of my culture and my native language. I was appaled. I've read hundreds if not thousands of books in this genre and I'm never one to go and write a review or make a comment but this hasn't been sitting well with me and I need to voice my concerns. This author completely made a fool of Ireland with this book. I was more and more offended with each chapter. I forced myself to finish it, sure it would let up or change but it did not. This is the first book that left me feeling angered and culturally offended by. If I ever wrote a book and used another culture the way the Irish one was utilised I would be called a racist, and that's what I felt like this book was toward me. Won't be picking up another one.
This was cute, spicy and fast-paced, a fun and quick read that took me into a world with mermaids and faes and an interesting sport and fun friends and lots of spice! My imagination hadn’t reached that far yet and I am quite imaginative 😉 I loved all the colors, the Irish references and also the care that Lila and Odhran developed for each other. I’m sad how things went with her best friends Mossette and the last part was intriguing when information was given that we were waiting for all along. I’d love to know even more!
I love each and every book from this author. This was a bit darker than previous releases but it gripped me as much as any of her others have. Her descriptive writing is phenomenal and once again I just couldn’t put this down. I hope she keeps setting her books in Ireland as she understands the culture so well which is so nice to see! AMAZING!!!
I've never read a mermaid book like this! Such a unique concept and, when you've read Enchanted, it's so cool to see how ot all ties in together. Beautiful setting, unique characters and intriguing story.
Let’s start by saying that this was my first ever spicy mermaid romance reading experience, and I was quite impressed. Lila is an orphaned mermaid seeking answers about her family and past and ends up finding love instead. I thought this was a beautiful story about loyalty, love, and taking risks to find yourself and happiness.
