I really enjoyed this manga series overall. I liked the concept of the story and Kucabara was an interesting and likable protagonist. Some of the side-characters came a bit too short and not every flashback was necessary in my opinion. However, I think that Volume 10 was a fitting conclusion to the series and I would recommend the series as a whole, although I would not consider it a favorite of mine. My favorite parts, if you are curious, were actually the interactions between Sugal and the little girl Jupiter, they were really cute together.

Es realmente increíble ésta historia. Aunque el primer tomo fue algo aburrido ya que es introductorio, sin embargo se pone interesante ya casi al final de ese mismo tomo, porque digamos que te sueltan un poco del misterio.
Es inevitable no tenerles cariño desde ese primer tomo a Kucabara y Bichula.
Mi primer manga coreano y me he llevado una grata sorpresa.
Sin duda leeré más de ellos y claro a Youn In-Wan. Así como las maravillosas ilustraciones de Yang Kyung-Il.

Este último tomo, fue de infarto que todavía estoy en shock. Muchas, muchas cosas pasaron que nunca lo creerías o que nunca se te vino a la mente esas grandes revelaciones que valieron la pena leer el manga. Lo único malo es que el final te deja para más, pero es una grandiosa historia un demonio abogado siendo bueno.

Die Serie ist der Hammer und ich werde sie bestimmt noch ein paar Mal lesen. Ich kann Defense Devil wirklich empfehlen!

This series is everything right and wrong in japanese-styled manga (even if it's done by Korean authors). It starts with the premise of using law to defend innocent souls. Come Volume 4, no problem is met with clever solutions or technicalities, but by punching and popping items we never see the characters acquire at all. By volume 7, when they were rollerblading on the Goofy Olympics, they randomly introduce characters and origins. However, the action parts are handled well enough that I kept on reading. Before the last two volumes, it's obvious the authors were told it was ending and to wrap it up, which they did with haste in a confusing spiral. As soon as an idea is set (say, X character isn't actually evil), they switch back and make X evil again. This happens about 5 times in the final volume alone.
SPOILERS for Vol 10*
A bunch of characters die and are revived in the final volumes, with little explanation other than 'it's a magic potion we had never mentioned before and was conveniently placed next to us'. This was the most damaging aspect of the ending, as it destroys the impact of seeing the cast of 9 volumes die, as they come back a couple pages later anyway. Half a dozen characters are introduced, and most of them do very little and have lazy designs.
The final villain was also predictable and never felt compelling, threatening or interesting.
This manga was a rollercoaster in quality, so it was a big disappointment to see it end in a whimper with plot holes and deus ex machinas a plenty. Even the art starts using explosion panels left and right, as if the artist was told he could finally leave detention.
The character development stops in the final volume and the closure we get is lacklustre.
If I had to use other mangas to describe Defense Devil, I'd say 'Fullmetal Alchemist if they switched to One Piece by Volume 4, then Dragon Ball and Blue Exorcist in the final chapter'. It's a shame, but demonic law makes no sense at all.

Tomo 10/10 . 4 estrellas y media . Coño :( . Cuando decía que esta serie simplemente no terminaba por arrancar e íbamos por los primeros ocho tomos , llega y nos da dos últimos tomos de alta calidad .
Tengo mucho que decir y poco que puedo contarles por miedo a que no disfruten ustedes la historia por un spoiler . Simplemente puedo decir que fue un clímax completo y complejo . Termina como el típico shonen , pero te deja un vacío existencial por la perdida de personajes . Hay muchos giros de la trama y pese a estar en el momento más duro de la serie , nunca pierde ese tan distinguido humor . No me arrepiento de haber leído esta serie , me saco muchas risas y eso es impagable .
Kukabara es un personaje tan típico pero tan distinguido , tan noble , pero tan loquillo a la vez . Bichula , Idamaria , Jodie , Samus , Sugal , Jupiter , El padre . Toda una gama de personajes que se quedarán grabados en nuestros recuerdo por todo lo que nos causaron .
Buen broche de oro para dar una conclusión , no he leído más del autor , pero espero que pronto me sorprenda con algo más maduro con su toque personal .
A la serie en su totalidad le pongo 3 estrellas y media. Recomendable si buscas humor .

A small small love song by Jupiter to Sugal adalah salah satu chapter fovorit saya selama membaca seri ini. Defense Devil --walau kakak sepupu saya sudah menyarankan membaca ini dari lebaran tahun lalu akhirnya saya membacanya pada lebaran tahun ini (2014)-- merupakan sebuah komik yang keren! Ternyata mangaka-nya orang Korea, toh. Tapi isi ceritanya, walau ngaco karena kenapa Tuhan harus diselamatkan???-- tetap mengena dan keren untuk disimak.
Karakter-karakternya berkembang walau entah kenapa Sugal (lagi?) tiba-tiba berubah? Bukannya di menjebat Kuchabara dengan mempermainkan nyawa anak-anak termasuk nyawa Jupiter? Oh ya, Sugal kan (lagi??) dewa kematian, mungkinkah dia menyukai Jupiter karena anak kecil itu adalah orang yang berani menyentuhnya untuk minta pertolongan?
Scene Sugal dan Jupiter adalah scene favorit saya (berharap ada yang lebih nih hehehehe). Dan juga cerita ini sulit ditebak di akhir.

Der letzte Band in der Serie ist wirklich gelungen. Zwar ist das Ende noch ein bischen offen, aber mehr würde ich gar nicht lesen wollen. Die Aussage des Manga ist schon sehr gewagt, aber doch überreaschend überzeugend!

Good manga that has a good art style. Based on devil lawyers. It has a good plot and a good concept. The characters are mostly likeable. Art style is good. Funny and mysterious as well.
