This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the sixth book in the Big Sky Justice Book series. I have read several books in this series before picking up this book. I had trouble getting totally into this book, and I think it was the writing style of this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Sacred Secrets is the sixth title in the Big Sky Justice series, and this time brings us a fascinating murder to solve, as different agents slowly find not only clues to Nikaya’s murder but also discover it is possible to set aside their very different approaches to this investigation. Kira has been brought in by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to investigate, and almost immediately, she clashes with local lawman Declan’s approach to finding the truth. Each has a different way of investigating that works for them, but this case shows they’ll need to find a way to work together beyond the animosity that flared up between them at the beginning. They’ll soon learn that the only way to discover what really happened, and how deeply this mystery runs, is to stop fighting and pool their knowledge together to solve this case… because it’s looking like far more than one unfortunate woman’s death.

I enjoyed Sacred Secrets very much. It’s intense, with the sense of time running out as clues increasingly point to something beyond Nikaya’s death. And that feeling ratchets up the tensions we’ll experience. Kira and Declan are a couple who slowly realize that their bickering over who has priority or the better knowledge about this case is also driven by their attraction to each other. Which completely caught them off guard, for they are both fiercely stubborn people. Their relationship is a slow burn as the focus is on one woman’s death… and what that spells for the community.

Their story is well-written, intense, and dangerous, and it kept me engaged throughout. Both Kira and Declan have other personal issues happening at the same time as this investigation, which, in some ways, sheds light on why they are… well, as they are. If you get caught up in a Romantic Suspense that will keep you on edge waiting for the villain to be caught, as two people take a few risks in their personal lives to let love in, then you’d enjoy Sacred Secrets by Kimberly Van Meter. I’d highly recommend it.

When the remains of a young woman are found on the Blackfeet Reservation, BIA agent Kira Redfeather is sent to investigate. While Detective Hawthorne and her get off to a rocky start, they decide to put the case first and investigate who murdered Nikaya. As they pull on the threads of the case, it doesn't take long before threats are made and the danger escalates.

At the same time, Kira has family matters to deal with as her absent mother has reappeared and she learns surprising information regarding her father. Declan also has a family issue he's dealing with.

This is a fast-paced story with many twists, betrayals, politics, and danger. The storylines intertwine and will keep you turning the pages to see what the outcome will be.

This is the sixth book in this series and once again it is a fast paced read that keeps you engaged until you turn the last page'

Bureau of Indian Affairs agent Kira Redfeather is sent to investigate when the body of a local woman is found on the Blackfoot reservation local lawman Declan Hawthorne is also sent to investigate the case They may both want to bring the murderer to justice but the methods they use are totally different and cause clashes between them Deciding to work together and pout their differences aside they soon realise this could be the tip of something far more serious than one death. There is natural character growth as they move from professional skepticism to mutual respect and maybe even to love Grab this book you won't be disappointed

Kira and Declan certainly get off to a rocky start however I liked seeing them realise to get justice for Nikaya they need to work together. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship change and grow both professionally and personally as the investigation progresses along with the danger seeping in as we get more answers and quiestions which just added to a great read.
