We often talk about deadlines, code, and productivity—but rarely about how our minds and bodies are coping behind those glowing screens. Reading CODE TO CALM felt like someone finally said what needed to be said. This isn’t just another wellness book—it’s a real, honest mirror held up to life in the tech world. Fedrick Sanjay Katta doesn’t try to impress with fancy language or empty promises. He simply tells the truth—and offers hope.

One part that stayed with me was how he shared real-life stories of people working in tech who looked fine on the outside but were silently falling apart. Priya’s journey hit home for me. It made me realise how easy it is to ignore our health while chasing perfection. Her transformation wasn’t magical—it was practical. Little steps like standing while working, setting phone boundaries after work, and connecting with supportive communities. It felt personal, as if I was walking beside her, learning and unlearning at the same time.

The book is also packed with useful tips that don’t feel like chores. Fedrick’s style is gentle yet firm—he encourages without overwhelming. From managing stress, eating better, and resting more, to simply taking breaks, he breaks down big problems into manageable changes. And the best part? You don’t have to quit your job or change your entire lifestyle to feel better—you just need to start caring for yourself, one habit at a time.

If you're someone in tech who feels exhausted, emotionally drained, or simply out of balance, I can’t recommend this book enough. CODE TO CALM isn’t just a book—it’s a breath of fresh air in a world that never stops running. It reminded me that I’m allowed to pause, to rest, and to live a little lighter—even while building a successful career.

Merged review:

If you work in tech and feel like you're constantly running on low battery, this book is a must-read. CODE TO CALM spoke to me in a way few self-help books do. It doesn’t throw around complicated advice or unrealistic solutions. Instead, Fedrick Sanjay Katta gently guides you through the chaos of the IT world with relatable stories, honest truths, and practical steps. From setting boundaries with your devices to simply learning to breathe and be present, the book reminds you that it's okay to pause, to rest, and to heal.

Reading about Priya's story felt like reading about myself and so many friends in this field. The long hours, the back pain, the brain fog, the quiet anxiety we all carry—this book lays it all bare. Her health scare was a wake-up call, not just for her but for all of us who push through pain thinking it’s “just part of the job.” It made me sit up straighter, question my daily habits, and take my own wellbeing more seriously. I even bookmarked her tips and started small changes—like drinking more water, using the Pomodoro timer, and keeping my evenings free from emails.

What I admire about the author is his approach. He doesn’t blame or shame you for being caught in the burnout cycle. Instead, he offers a helping hand, like a mentor who truly gets it. His voice is calm, understanding, and full of care. The structure of the book is easy to follow, and it’s filled with real solutions you can actually try—nothing overwhelming or complicated, just real advice for real people.

I highly recommend CODE TO CALM to anyone working in tech—or honestly, any demanding job. This book reminded me that success is not about sacrificing your health or happiness. It’s about finding a rhythm where you can grow in your career without losing yourself. If you’re tired of feeling tired, this book might just be your turning point.

CODE TO CALM by Fedrick Sanjay Katta challenges the mindset and offers a refreshing perspective on how IT professionals can thrive without sacrificing their well-being. The book is not just about identifying the problem; it is about reclaiming control over one’s health, happiness, and career sustainability. Through real-life stories, including Priya’s journey from exhaustion to renewal, the book paints a clear picture of how small lifestyle changes can lead to significant improvements in both personal and professional life.

What sets this book apart is its practicality. It doesn’t offer vague self-help advice but instead provides concrete, actionable steps that anyone can implement. From setting work boundaries and using the Pomodoro technique to mindful breathing exercises and ergonomic work setups, every chapter feels like a guide to creating a healthier work-life balance. The emphasis on digital detoxing resonated deeply with me, as I’ve often struggled to switch off from work. The book made me realize that constantly being available is not a sign of dedication but a fast track to burnout.

The writing is engaging, easy to follow, and deeply relatable, making it a book that feels less like a lecture and more like a conversation with a mentor who truly understands the tech industry’s challenges. Priya’s story, along with case studies and expert-backed insights, makes the book both insightful and inspiring. It reminded me that taking care of my mind and body is not a luxury but a necessity if I want to sustain my passion and productivity.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone working in high-stress environments, not just IT professionals. Whether you are a software developer buried in deadlines, a tech entrepreneur juggling responsibilities, or simply someone feeling the weight of an overwhelming workload, CODE TO CALM is a must-read. It is a book that doesn’t just help you survive the fast-paced world of tech—it teaches you how to truly thrive in it.

📖 Book Review 📖

Code to Calm by Fedrick Sanjay Katta

As someone working in tech, I’ve felt the late-night anxiety, tight deadlines, and that nagging feeling of imposter syndrome. Code to Calm felt like a genuine lifeline—it speaks directly to people like me, who want to grow in tech without falling apart inside.

What I loved most is how practical it is. It doesn't just talk about burnout—it gives you tools to stop it before it starts. I related deeply to the section on imposter syndrome. The advice to ask for “proof” before believing negative thoughts was eye-opening. Keeping a personal file of achievements? Game-changer.

The book’s take on cultivating a growth mindset made me rethink how I approach failure. My favorite line was: “Every failed attempt should be treated as valuable information.” That alone shifted how I handle bugs and rejections.

It also covers real stuff we overlook—nutrition, sleep, even ergonomic posture. The case studies were super relatable, especially Ravi, the architect who became more productive after making health a priority. It reminded me that peak performance isn’t about nonstop hustle—it's about balance.

Reading this, I realized mental health and success aren't opposites—they're partners. The section that hit me most? “Your psychological strength maintains the same vital importance as your programming abilities.” That’s now written on a sticky note near my monitor.

If you're in tech and feel like you're constantly running on fumes, this book is a must-read. It's not just about surviving—it’s about thriving

Being passionate about well-being, I was pleased to discover a book that connects health with technology. Code to Calm book does not simply mention stress management. It analyses screen-bound ergonomics for every inch of a person’s body, nutrition, movement, and rest. The steps given are straightforward and non-intrusive which makes the approach even more recommendable. It even explains how food and sleep impact one’s ability to code! I believe this is the first book targeting people in the tech industry to prioritize their physical and mental well-being. This is a must-read for anyone looking to advance in their profession and feel relieved each day.

My appreciation lies in how the book merges practical application and scientific research. It does not bombard the reader with complicated terms, it simplifies fundamental habits into manageable actions. Be it setting up an ergonomic desk, selecting the appropriate snacks for coding sessions, or adding mindfulness into a packed schedule, every piece of advice is customized for individuals who spend long hours in front of a computer screen.

In addition, the book's voice sits comfortably in the realm of mentorship rather than lecturing the reader. It understands the specific burdens that people working in technology deal with and offers empathy instead of ridicule. I not only felt physically better after reading the book; emotionally, I felt calmed. This book is sure to remain a popular pointer for all tech industry newcomers and is a resource that I will go back to frequently.

I am sure all of us have read books about careers, success, hard work, office ethics, and whatnot. But amongst all these, no book talked about our well-being, our health, or giving ourselves priority. And in achieving all our long-term goals somewhere, we forget our health. And by the time you achieve your goals, you are damn tired and exhausted to celebrate your achievements. So achieving success is important, but being healthy, physically, mentally, and emotionally is equally important.

"Health is the most valuable asset we have and is often taken for granted."

The book 'Code To Calm' by Fredrick Sanjay Katta talks about realizing you are the architect of your life and can design a career that aligns with your values and supports your health. He has used simple techniques and language to make you realize the value of your well-being and how overall health. I liked the way he described minute details that can affect our health. Also, he has given you solutions as to how you can avoid being one who is losing yourself in the run of career and success.

Tech burnout is one such example - Tech burnout is not just feeling exhausted after a long week. It’s the emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion that comes from prolonged or excessive stress and pressure in the tech workplace.

Also, the case studies shared in the book are perfect examples to learn how one can manage his or her health keeping work life intact and on track.

This book is a boon to all corporate employees who are really looking for a healthy and balanced professional and personal life.

From managing stress and avoiding burnout to improving your sleep, setting boundaries, and even taking care of your posture, this book covers it all. What I liked most is how easy it is to follow. The tips aren’t vague or too “philosophical”, they're simple actions you can start applying right away.

It’s not just about slowing down, it’s about staying in tech without losing yourself. Whether you’re new to the industry or have been in it for years, this book is a reminder that your health matters more than deadlines.

Your commitment to wellness brings advantages for all in your social circle. In my opinion, this is an essential reading material for any person who works in the technology industry. As a software developer, I often deal with burnout and exceedingly tight deadlines. I realized that I was placing undue stress upon myself and not taking time to truly rest. This book taught me effective ways to manage my time, set boundaries, and rest. I found the chapters about mindfulness and ergonomics particularly remarkable.

The author’s intertwining of actual experiences from tech professionals with the advice given in the book was deeply insightful. It made me empathetic toward my battles, and calmed my nerves. Those stories not only helped me emotionally but also provided a path that I needed to navigate through my challenges. Instead of dismissing stress and burnout as something that can be remedied instantly, the book acknowledges those challenges and provides manageable steps that can gradually integrate into a person’s life. This mentality was impressive because it seemed highly practical.

The book does not just offer a guide on work-life balance, it shows you how to actually accomplish it. If you are completely exhausted with your role in technology, this book helps you address your health while still focusing on your career.

This book is a game-changer for people in tech. "CODE TO CALM" speaks directly to the pain points of working in IT—long screen hours, skipped meals, bad sleep, and the constant mental load. But instead of just telling you to “relax,” it actually shows you how.

I loved how the book mixes tech knowledge with wellness advice. It talks about things like mindfulness, nutrition, ergonomic desks, and even how to deal with coding stress in a healthy way. The part about setting work-life boundaries really hit home for me—it’s something so many of us struggle with but never get taught.

Sustainable performance demonstrates how organizations should continues their productive operations while caring for their workforce’s overall wellness. People reach genuine success in maintaining long term performance quality at a sustainable level rather than relying on brief periods of intensive work.

It’s not preachy, and it doesn’t assume you’ll quit your job and live on a beach. It’s realistic, supportive, and very practical. I’ve already started using a few of the tips in my daily routine, and I feel more focused and less overwhelmed.

This book should be on the desk of every software developer, team lead, or tech entrepreneur out there.

Just like the title says, the author, Fedrick Sanjay Katta, in his book tries to help the tech employees with how they can thrive in their job with some advice, which is way more practical than anything.

I love how the author starts the book with some of the information on how the health results of the people around the tech business are declining. To understand the severity of the situation, the author shares some stories and, through those stories, emphasizes how the tech industry is evolving and, with it, how it demands their employees to evolve faster too.
