23 books108 followersI am a first generation Canadian currently and out of necessity residing on planet Earth (which, in the general and interplanetary scheme of things could REALLY use a catchier name, if you ask me. I mean, imagine heading past Proxima Centauri and someone asks you whence you came and you tell them "dirt". All theological implications aside, that just won't do.)
My first full-length work of fiction, Flight To Exile, is a fantasy which, I just realized, takes place on a planet that doesn't have a name at all and blurs the line between sci-fi and fantasy in ways that are probably illegal.
I then headed out far beyond Proxima Centauri and found a nifty story that soon turned into a Space Opera complete with wormholes and improbable laser guns. What fun. Laws of physics need not apply if you find a way to explain them away.
The series stars Nova Whiteside as a space marine whose pesky humanity keeps getting in the way of her doing her job according to protocol.
Currently, there are five books in the series, with three more planned.
When not finding ways to torture my subjects or entice them with inter-species hanky-panky, I design web sites or write about designing web sites. I enjoy long walks on the beach or, given the local beach shortage, write about beaches far beyond Proxima Centauri.

Not as Slightly Quite Entertaining (SQE™) as book 1, but not Entirely Too Crappy (ETC) either. So yay and stuff.

I could just as easily given the science fiction novel Terminus Shift five stars, but I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground, in general. Four stars from me is very good. Terminus Shift is very good. Both male and female character are believable. In fact, until I did more research, I thought Chris, the author, might have been a rather enlightened male--considering how well both sexes were developed. That Chris is a female inspires me, I wish I could write a male character that well.
And, there is a hint of subtle perception for the characters, subtle knowledge, consciousness. This is terrific! Bravo! More please. In fact, I'd definitely be interested in the further adventures of these two.

Book 2 was as good as the first, even if Kada does seem to fall in love with every girl he runs into, first Khoe in the first book and now Ciela in book 2.
I have no idea if he'll fall in love with another girl in the 3rd book because I have no intention of buy that audible. I'm done buying books that are neither worth the money or my credits, and 247 pages are not worth either. There publishers are insane to think 3 1/2 or 4 hours of listening material is a good deal when buying an audible.
Fade-to-black sex and no swearing.
As for the narration: Will Damron is an awesome narrator. Too bad he didn't have a longer book to read. A waste of his talent.

Second book surprisingly better than the first...if only because understanding all the moving pieces adds to the whirlwind pace of the action.
More motivations come out for the risks and daring of Seth. Little revealed as to why he's quite so nimble and fast in encounters with other, similarly trained mercs and agents. I enjoyed the fact that he's aware of his tendency to wear his heart on his sleeve. Self-aware is not usually a thing you get from action protags.

Thoroughly entertaining
I found this book, the second in its series, to be enjoyable and entertaining. Chris Reher has created a universe populated with numerous different sentient prime beings, and manipulates the characters and locales either deftness. I hated to see the book end.

Another great adventure
In this story we get greater insights into the world that the author has created. New interesting characters are introduced. I really liked the build-up to the ending and how the book ended.

I don't usually get along with aliens, but in this story, the significant aliens are basically human. A nice touch. Seth's adventures are exciting and dangerous, with plenty of action and intrigue.

This is one of my favorite of Chris Reher's space operas. Once again, she delivers adventure, intrigue, and a dash of romance all wrapped up in an engaging tale amongst the stars. The dashing special operative Sethran Kada returns just as charming a good-hearted rogue as ever, with his new love interest being a woman who is both capable of sweetness and fully able to kick enemy ass. All in all, a great read.

This series gets better with each one I read
I love the world Chris Reher has built. One of the things I like about it is that female characters are fully integrated into the world, without comment. They just *are.* Part of the military, the hierarchy, the pilots and navigators. Very refreshing. Seth is a great rogue, a Hans Solo kind of character. And Celia, introduced in this book is spectacular. I hope we see more of her!

Just a superb story in the continuing Trans-Targon tales. Nova, Seth, Tychon, Ciela, Anders, and all the many varied and richly developed characters once again transport us to a fantastic world of mystery and intrigue with level upon level of excitement and wonder at what will ensnare any of our heroes next. Mr Reher has guaranteed himself many years of writing ahead with many, many fans.

Another excellent space adventure featuring Sethran Kada. The author has brought this world to life with amazing detail. The world building is incredible and the characters are so believeable.
I found the parts about sub-space particularly fascinating, especially as it was that aspect (and the results) that I had enjoyed in Quantam Tangle (five stars for that book also!)

Another fast-paced romp through space with engaging characters. I think there is a future for Seth in this series. I am reminded of a Star Trek adventure with more grit and a good helping just plain fun

Very good follow up to first book. Seth is an interesting and good guy. Ciela very capable yet rather strange. Would have been nice if more beings could have been saved. I really am a bit sad when the rescuers arrive a day late and a dollar short.

Great read
Seth and his new heroine are great- I still fast that reading the earlier books gives you the alien fundamentals you need to truly embrace the story.

Enjoyed the 3rd book in the series! Happy to see a return of an exciting character from the 1st book. Chris took this to a new level.

I really liked this book as it mixed humour, drama and romance and there was no gratuitous violence.
The first book was really good but this one is slightly better. I have to say that of all many sci fi books I have read this and "the day of the triffids" are the best.
I just wish more of her books were on the Kobo.
