Ceri sees angels, people who are no longer there who are warning her, so she can prevent awful things from happening. A heavy task has been given to her. Alex is her colleague and they love working together. They've become good friends, but nothing more. Ceri likes him very much though, only she thinks he isn't interested. When they finally start meeting after work it's time for Ceri to tell Alex her biggest secret. She doesn't expect him to be supportive, but he is and even more than that he's determined to help her.

Ceri falls more and more in love with Alex, but that isn't what's supposed to happen. Being together might even cause more problems for them than being apart. Ceri is learning things about herself and she's starting to develop the side of herself she used to keep hidden. With some guidance she can do so many good things. Only by giving in to that side she needs to give something up as well. Can she really do that?

Falling is a story about angels. Ceri sees more than most people and there's a reason for it. She's such a good person, but being good also means being altruistic. Because of that she has to take some difficult decisions. She doesn't have a regular romance with Alex, it's so much more. That made this book really interesting. Their relationship is complicated and I kept hoping they would find some happiness.

I really enjoyed reading about Ceri's experiences. It was amazing to see her grow. At first she isn't aware of all of her abilities, but slowly she discovers what she's capable of. Alex is a sweet guy and he wants the best for Ceri. He even seeks help to know what to do, but the advice he gets isn't what he wants to hear. Sometimes loving someone with all your heart can be really tough, even if it's beautiful. I enjoyed reading this book very much, it's unusual and really good. Linn Halton's writing is amazing and her stories are always special. That's how I can only describe this one as well, it has that distinctive hint of magic I love so much. Falling is really romantic, but in a different way than most love stories. If you like something a little bit alternative I think you will enjoy it very much.

Falling (Angels Among Us #1) by Linn B. Halton

'Falling' is the first in a trilogy about Ceri, whose name gives us a clue to her true identity. The connection with Ceri is immediate; she's a good person, who wants to make a difference but struggles because she feels like a cuckoo in the nest. Ceri experiences extraordinary contact in an understated, believable way. Like Ceri, you are aware something out of the ordinary is going on but it's in your peripheral vision and you can't quite make it out. It's scary, if you don't acknowledge it; maybe you can put it down to a day dream.
Ceri's relationship with her twin Seb, is interesting, they are yin and yang. Seb struggles to understand the 'other' side of Ceri but loves her anyway. Alex is a work colleague but their bond is stronger than that, even though they don't socialise out of work. Desperation makes Ceri share her secret with Alex who has one of his own which he can't share with her. The ending is happy for now but you question how long this will be the case with Ceri last experience.
This is a feel good, easy to read story about faith and love in all its forms. I'm looking forward to 'Forbidden' the second in the series.

Forbidden (Angels Among Us, #2) by Linn B. Halton

Ceri's realises her true identity but is saddened. It threatens her future with Alex, who she accepts is not the same as her, although he does possess special qualities and is important to her future. Ceri and Alex respond in a totally human way to their situation and the reader is right there with them. hoping they can beat the odds.
Ceri's new found knowledge makes her gifts more understandable as she begins to fulfil her destiny. There are some wonderfully poignant passages in this story.
Fate intervenes and reveals Alex's secret. Dramatic irony means the readers know what it is but Ceri doesn't. This story has another crescendo ending making me pick up 'Forever' the last in the series straight away. I have to know what happens.
I received a copy of Forbidden from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review. I have included it with my reviews of the other two books in the series which I bought.

Forever (Angels Among Us #3) by Linn B. Halton

The final part of the trilogy picks up where 'Forbidden' ends. Alex can't find Ceri, he should have shared his secret and now the truth has lost him his soul mate. Ceri's psychic encounter with Alicia bought everything into painfully, clear focus. Ceri can't cheat destiny. Ceri's hopelessness in the early chapters of 'Forever' is tangible. Her ability to help others becomes the focus of her human existence and mitigates her emotional distress. The story's poignancy continues and intensifies in this last part and it's hard to predict, which way fate will take Ceri and Alex and if they have any control over their future. The ending is unexpected and fulfilling but there is a final twist that echoes the title.
I loved reading this uplifting, perceptive series and look forward to the continuation of Ceri's journey.

Falling Angels Among Us The Complete Series by Linn B. Halton

Additional scenes.

My initial thoughts when I read the first page of the bonus chapters was disappointment. Then I realised what happened only concerned the last chapter in 'Forever' and not the whole story.

The story continues with angst and heart-rending scenes that make a happy- ever- after, for Ceri and Alex seem impossible. Thankfully this isn't an ordinary story.

I recommend this series, in its individual parts, or the complete series, with the additional scenes.

It's a must read for those of us, who don't need to see to believe, the true romantics.

Do you believe in premonitions? Ceri has always had a “gift” for seeing or feeling things about people, some are good things, some are bad, but she cannot always stop what will happen. Confused, the man she secretly has feelings for becomes her confidant, but negative feelings about their relationship tears them apart before it really begins Do people make their own destiny or is our path already mapped out?

Like crash landing on the planet Broken Hearts. Linn B. Halton has breathed an air of life into her main characters, especially Ceri that goes beyond merely reading the words of her pain. I felt I was in her mind, seeing the world through her eyes as she struggles with life, love, her purpose and the love she may be destined to deny. Ceri now understands her connection to a world beyond, because she is so much more than she appears to those around her. When Alex has his POV shared, it was like walking on grated glass, barefoot, carrying a hundred pounds on your back. This intimate look into their world is a kaleidoscope of emotions as a decision must be made and only Ceri has the strength to do it. But no matter what she action she takes, there will be massive pain; is it better to take the pain or risk taunting destiny, possibly causing greater harm to the world? No one should be told to choose, but Ceri knows she must. What reason could it be that an angel cannot share love? Has Alex finally moved on? Has he found everything he has dreamed of? A good woman, a child, the family he desperately craves, has his dream come true with another? Tortured by the thought, Ceri goes “undercover,” just to catch a glimpse at the only man she could ever love. But if she tries to tempt the fates and her destiny again, she may go too far and pay a price too high.

Linn B. Halton touches on emotions, premonitions and the purpose in life. Ceri is a wonderful character, kind, intelligent and hurting. Alex is more vague, yet there is a special feeling that he emits. A thought-provoking novel with a positive spin on the good in people, their gifts and their destiny told with emotion, fed with turmoil and all brought together with grace and style. Definitely appealing to romance readers who enjoy a touch of the paranormal.

Falling – the Complete Series by Linn B. Halton is without a doubt, simply a painfully beautiful and inspirational read, from start to finish. Ms. Halton added even more rich detail, from the character emotions, to their deepest thoughts and wishes. Great writing that grew along with each page of this truly romantic and bittersweet read. A HUGE plus is to have each segment of this trilogy under one cover as the story grows and deepens while remaining fresh in your heart.

My Thoughts

This is the first book I have read by Linn, so I was not familiar with her or her writing style, and at first I was a little confused about the genre the book was placed in, but after reading the complete series, I was pleasantly surprised.

In The first chapter we meet Ceri, and her brother Seb and we are told that they are twins, though very different and that they value their individual identities. Seb is practical and Ceri is more creative. We are also told that though they are close, Seb does not believe that his sister sees angels, and the boundaries of their relationship are set from the start.

We also meet Alex, her work colleague, and though they get along great, the relationship is strictly professional. They’re a great team, and after becoming friends and after Alex is introduced to the other side of Ceri’s life, their relationship changes and things get complicated.

… she’s altered one hundred and thirty one lives – and I found myself wondering as to what exactly it is that she does … and at the end of chapter two she makes it a little clearer, and you’re left even more curious about Ceri’s story.

I like the characters, their all real and you can connect with them, and would love to read Sheena’s story of finding love as well.

The relationship between Ceri and Alex are different than other Romance novels, so don’t expect a fantasy novel filled with pulse racing love scenes, roses and dusty sunsets. For those interested and open minded it reads like a non-fiction filled with details and facts about another world, and the book definitely had me thinking outside the box and will stay with me for a long time to come.

It has a completely unexpected ending! And though it leaves you with a million questions, it’s still happy and warm and you have the distinct feeling that everything worked out exactly the way it was supposed to.

It’s a beautifully written story about love, loss and life. And whether you believe or you don’t, this book will surely leave you at least wondering about the possibilities.

Ceri is on a journey of self discovery and learning, of what her gift for helping people and sensing the presence of angels, mainly by intuition, really means. She knows she is different but she doesn’t realise her gift is her calling and she is destined to be alone. She and Alex are only meant to cross paths briefly, he to help her when she is in doubt, and then to both go their separate ways. Neither of them understand Ceri is not supposed to fall in love during this earthly existence…

Ceri’s task is to correct mistakes people make that may alter the course of their destined lives. It was easy to like and empathise with her, and Alex, especially when I read the passages from his point of view. They both suffer dreadfully because they are not destined to be together. Ceri is compassionate, astute and very confused about her feelings for Alex. As she begins to learn who and what she is and awakens more and more to her psychic abilities, the spiritual and theological aspects are explored in-depth and are very interesting and fascinating. The story focuses quite heavily on this perspective as Ceri learns her true calling.

There is much development in Ceri and Alex’s relationship, as well as Ceri’s personal development, and as the two clash emotions run very high. Ceri must choose her path and either way, it’s not easy as she struggles with the powerful feelings between her and Alex. Should she heed what she now knows is her destiny, or choose to follow her heart?

Linn Halton’s writing style is fluid and easy to read, I was drawn in from the start. The story is filled with a multitude of emotions, highs and lows, and although the spiritual angle features throughout it’s not overwhelming and blends in well with the romance. There’s a lot to like and be drawn into in this book if you’re open to the otherworldly and metaphysical. I enjoyed exploring the premise there is more to this life than we think, and more beyond than is imaginable.

What if the man you loved was not your destiny?

Ceri is a very special woman: she’s beautiful, kind, intelligent and she can see angels. Ceri gets good and bad premonitions and can help prevent bad things happening to people, and actually, the responsibility is deeper than she thinks.

Alex, her friend at work is the one person she can turn to and who isn’t freaked out by her spiritual side, even her identical twin, Seb, is baffled by her. But as Ceri becomes more confident in her abilities and she and Alex fall head over heels in love, bad omens start affecting both of them and it seems imperative that they remain apart. But how can you live without your soul mate? How much can they both endure to appease the universe?

This is a heart-wrenchingly beautiful love story told across three books in one collection. The spiritual side is well thought out and thoroughly explained in a way that will have even the most sceptical of readers understanding, if not believing, but it’s the bittersweet romance that will capture your heart. Ceri and Alex have a complex will-they-won’t-they relationship which questions if true love is always enough. The sense of loss is carried throughout the collection, without ever becoming overwhelmingly bitter; indeed, this is a sweet story which tries to find new answers to oft asked questions.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll be grabbing for the next Linn B Halton novel as soon as you’ve finished.

Ceri has a gift, she can see Angels, and they appear to her as apparitions helping Ceri to save people and keep them safe. Ceri also has some psychic ability. Ceri attends a workshop to try and understand and learn about her gift. She works with a medium and develops her gift and learns much more about herself than she ever thought was possible.

Ceri works with Alex, there is a strong attraction between them. Alex is a good support to Ceri. Ceri becomes more confident with her abilities. Ceri and Alex fall deep in love but they soon learn that their love is forbidden and that they must find a way to live apart.

Coming to terms that they cannot be together Ceri and Alex try to live their lives apart. Finding it hard, but trying to accept that this is their destiny. However does fate have other plans for the couple that could change everything forever?

At last all three books in a complete collection. No waiting to find out what happens next; you can now read all of Ceri and Alex’s story in one great read. Linn B. Halton writes a rollercoaster of emotions in all her novels. They are full of romance, drama and just add that touch of a psychic mix to make the characters have extra depth and edge. This is one of those remarkable stories that will leave you thinking, and stay in your thoughts for a while after reading.

When I first started reading this, I didn't know what to expect, except that I probably would be a little heartbroken once or twice. But I'm glad I didn't go in with expectations.

Although I'm sure this kind of story is not for everyone (just like Ceri says, not everyone is ready to hear these kinds of things), I couldn't stop reading once I started. I read the whole entire series in two sittings. Although in a way it was strange, and totally different from almost anything else I read, I HAD to know what was going on.

Honestly, I'm still floating in the abyss after finishing this whole series. Chapter after chapter I wondered if the choices Ceri and Alex were making were what they should have been doing. I wasn't sure if I was mad at them for each decision them made, or excited, or sad, or...And after I've finished the entire thing, I'm still not sure they made the 'right' choices. But hopefully they are both happy.

I am SUPER glad that I got to read the whole series in one shot. If I had only read the first book, and didn't have the rest of it, I imagine I would have been screaming and pulling out my hair, trying to figure out what was really going to happen. I *think* I know what happened for both of them in the long run, but I'm still not 100% sure. And that's okay. I like it when a book leaves me thinking long after it's over.

I was fortunate enough to receive a free copy of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Linn’s style is so smooth and easy to read that in a way, it’s a bit like dipping into your favourite box of chocolates. You promise yourself just one and before you know it, you’ve eaten the whole box. Similarly, I found myself saying ‘just one more chapter’ and couldn’t resist reading the next and the next until I’d finished. As an open-minded sceptic, I find the subject of Angels both fascinating and mystifying. In this book, a lot of things start to make sense whilst at the same time making a great story. I loved the characters, felt Ceri’s pain and was shocked at the ending of the third novella. The transition between that and the bonus material jarred a little, simply because it was so unexpected and as a reader I felt I needed more time to come to terms with what had happened. Without giving away any spoilers though I am so glad the bonus material was there!!

Not only is this a well-written story with great characters and plot, but for anyone who doesn’t normally read this kind of novel, I can thoroughly recommend it. As someone who has never experienced a psychic episode, this is the next best thing to understanding what happens in the astral plane.

This book completely took me by surprise!

Ceri keeps her true-self hidden, though those she is close to know a little about the things she sees, she knows it’s not entirely accepted, especially by her twin brother, Seb. So she tries to lead a normal life despite believing she can see angels. It’s this first part of the book that is my favourite. The author takes us through the scenes Ceri is witness to and her underlying need to help those she feels she is meant to save. It’s this part that draws out Ceri’s turmoil and the difficulty she has separating something she feels is her destiny as opposed to reality. Premonitions guide her to help those in need, though she struggles to understand why.

When tragedy strikes, Ceri’s true path starts to become clear and Alex, her friend and colleague, reveals something startling about himself too. Cleverly written in dual POV, you discover that the stronger Ceri’s abilities become – the more of a chance she takes by being with Alex. The story then takes you through how Ceri and Alex battle fate and love. Is their love worth the risk?

Thought provoking and intriguing throughout, this love story is a real page turner. I never could figure out where the plot was going to go right to the very end. Expect the unexpected!

I like Ceri, and I liked Alex, and I didn't mind, not one bit about their on again off again relationship. I could understand why they wanted to cling to their feelings, and also why they felt it necessary to turn their backs on the relationship, and while some may say it was too wishy washy, it didn't come across that way to me.

I have read other books by Halton and I have loved them and I wanted to love this one too but I just couldn't. And I am sat here trying to work out what went wrong for me and I couldn't figure that out either. And then I remembered this line from the book where Ceri is discussing a spiritual book with its author and this is his response to her request for 'laymans terms'
"Has it ever occurred to you that some things are not meant to be understood by the masses, only by those who are ready?"
I cant help but feel I am one of those who isn't quite ready...

While I may not have enjoyed every aspect of this book I wasn't able to walk away from it. I needed to know what was going to happen and I'm glad I saw the book through to its conclusion.

This is such a good book. I loved the ending and can not wait for a sequel. The idea that angels are among us is very easy for me to believe. I have lost my dad, and feel as though he is always around me. I like the idea of soul mates always being together, for eternity. However I agree with the story that life gets in the way. How does Ceri know that she is helping in the right way? Would it be easier to ignore her gift and to just focus on now? This is the type of book that left me wondering about Ceri long after I was done reading. Alex is also a character that stayed with me. What was he trying to tell Sheena? I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

I read this book in two sessions and found it hard to put it down. Only the fact that I had to go to work made me break off in the early hours and I couldn't wait to get home to pick it up again. Initially I bought the first novella, then realised the whole series was out with bonus content. For me the bonus content took it to yet another level and it left me thinking about what I believe when it comes to life after death and angels. The love story is nicely woven into a thought-provoking explanation of how it all might work. It's one I will read again, that's for sure.

What an emotional roller coaster! First two books were interesting.. the third ruined it for me though. It was too over the place, jumpy and too fast paced. I had to force myself to finish it.

I could not put these books down. There was such an intensity in the relationships that you had to keep reading to see what would happen next. The ending surprised and shocked me as well. I wasn't expecting it and then it just happened. I do not want to give away a single thing so my advice is to just read them. Linn B Halton NEVER disappoints me.

This is an incredible read, which draws you in from the very first page. A fascinating storyline which centres around two main characters - Ceri and Alex. Ceri knows she is different - she has a gift where she can see angels - they allow her to see awful events that may happen and stop them from happening. But she can also see good things that are going to happen and she can divert circumstances if she needs too. Such a huge responsibility to have. When you have a power, as strong as this, it is very hard to explain to anyone because of their scepticism and you are not sure whether they will understand and appreciate the affect it has on one’s life. However, when Ceri gets closer to her work colleague Alex (they both work for an advertising company), and explains her secret, she is very surprised but very happy at how supportive Alex is and Alex wants to do all he can to help her. However, this does bring them huge challenges which they were not expecting - can these be overcome? Can Ceri and Alex be the couple they want to be? Will their true love see them through the turbulent times and the complications that Ceri's power brings in their relationship? You will need to read this wonderful book to find out!

A very powerful and emotional love story which I highly recommend. The spiritual side to the book is so cleverly written and the characters are given so much depth - you feel as if you are there with them.

Ceri sees angels, ghost-like presences accompanied by a feeling that she must do something urgently to prevent tragedy, e.g. grabbing a runaway dog that’s about to cause a traffic accident, or telling someone she should see a doctor. But her gift can’t prevent tragedy in the life of her loved ones, and it seems to be pushing her further away from the man of her dreams.

This series was hard to rate, because it’s not what I’d normally read. I was intrigued by the paranormal element, which I really enjoyed, especially in the first part. It flows well and it's definitely a page-turner, with plenty of unexpected plot developments.

Two criticisms. First, this was published by Harper Collins – yes, their romance imprint, but all the same, I expected it to be professionally edited. I didn’t expect basic mistakes that I’d forgive in a self-published book, such as “he was twelve-years-old” or “she glared at Alex and I”. I wouldn’t alter ratings for this because I see it as the publisher’s responsibility, but it was annoying.

Second, and much more important, especially for this kind of book, I didn’t feel any chemistry between the main character and her love interest. I kept expecting him to introduce her to someone smoking hot who would turn out to be the real love interest, but no.

ETA: no, three criticisms! Here's something I hate. When thinking about a nice, attractive man she imagines is gay, the main character thinks "What a waste." (Twice.) To me, that's insulting to gay men. It implies their lives are less valuable, that they are throwing themselves away by not being in a relationship with a woman.

I couldn't even finish this. It sounded interesting, but on the contrary it was boring as hell. Yes she saw angels, and that was interesting. If it would have gotten a little more into it and not push the day to day dribble my eyes wouldn't have glazed over while reading this. I managed to choke down 45% of this book before I gave up.
