“Get used to me loving you, because you’ll never go a day without knowing it.”
Clara is struggling to keep it together as a single mom, sharing custody with her unfaithful ex-husband and the woman he left her for. What she’s not prepared for is the newcomer in the small town of Alton. Seth is persistent, strange, and seemingly incapable of leaving her alone.
Seth has never found a place to settle down and call home. That is, until he comes across his mate in human Clara. But the pack he’s run away from threatens the future he never thought he could have, and he’ll go to any lengths to fight for it…for her.
Krystal Kae lives in the corn-filled Midwest with her husband, children, and pets. Her love of reading and writing started back in high school, but it was over a decade later when she decided to put her overactive imagination to work again and began filling blank pages.
Fascinated by all things paranormal, fantasy, and romantic-you can find these topics the center of her writing universe.
When she's not working her full-time office job or buried in a story, she loves to create memories with loved ones, travel, and take long walks in cemeteries.
Calling all single divorced moms with stretch marks, saggy boobs, mini vans, and a mountain of debt! Seth Woods is an MMC you can get behind! We love a man who has the ability to observe and doesn't need a honey-do list for housework. We love an emotionally aware MMC who can take one look at his woman and just know what she needs; he doesn't need to be told.
What I loved about this book: ✅Obsessed golden retriever MMC ✅Plus-sized FMC w/ stretch marks and sag ✅Newly divorced mom of two ✅Small town setting ✅Lone wolf shifter 🐺 ✅Mating bond ✅Second chance at love 💕 ✅Healing past trauma and abuse together ✅He knows how she takes her coffee ✅He loves her kids like they're his own ✅"I'll spend my entire life proving myself to her." ✅Body-positive messages ✅Challenging the status-quo ✅ALL. THE. SPICE! 🌶️🌶️🌶️
What I didn't love about this book: 🤬Her cheating ex-husband and the skinny bimbo (Chassidy)! 🤬His abusive manipulating gaslighting pack family!
It was a true privileged to read Chasing Petals as an ARC for the author, Krystal Kae! What an honor to be among the first to witness Seth and Clara's relationship bloom into beautiful roses from many broken petals! 🌹
•ARC READER• Thank you for this opportunity Krystal Kae!
Fantastic read! The plot was so good with a bit of thrill. The characters were lovable and relatable. I will be recommending this to my books clubs. Check the trigger warnings in the first few pages. I cannot wait for a physical copy of this book.
Spoilers ahead‼️‼️‼️‼️
Clara starts as a recently divorced mom trying to navigate raising two kids on her own while Joe, the ex, gets to be the fun dad and flaunt his money and new bimbo. First off, the author made me sympathize with Clara and her kids all while making my skin crawl at the mention of Joe.
Seth is a “lone wolf” separated from his family due to abuse. We see him move to a small town, new place, where everyone knows everyone and he’s an outsider.
Moving onto the romance aspect. The spice was spicy. I’ll give it a 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️. As far as a love story, it had me kicking my feet and giggling. I loved it.
The plot was a medium pace, easy to follow. I didn’t sense any plot holes or any confusing writing. It was rather enjoyable. It was a great mix of current time and fantasy.

If you asked me what my favorite part was… I could NOT tell you. I’m a sucker for romance and this one definitely set the bar high for other men 😉 You will definitely giggle out loud, and say a few cuss words along with the main characters. It’ll definitely leave you… well… wolf got your tongue?🫶🏼

Chasing Petals is a werewolf romance that feels real. Clara is a relatable single mom and Seth is the emotionally supportive MMC all women deserve. It tackles body image, healing, and self worth in a way that hits hard, but still manages to be funny and spicy.
This book was fantastic. It didn't feel like a werewolf romance... it felt like someone had actually lived it. Clara isn't written like a polished, aspirational, fit, perfect version of a woman. She felt so real. She's dealing with her messy life after divorce, raising 2 kids, carrying the weight of self-doubt, and trying to hold everything together and appear like all is OK when, really, it's not. Then Seth walks in; He wasn't an over the top alpha bro. He was a guy who genuinely sees HER. All of her. ALL of her flaws. And he chooses her anyways. Constantly.
What stood out to me most was how the story handled body image and self worth. Clara's the queen of negative self talk. It hit close to home. Instead of brushing past it, the book sits with it. You really get to feel Clara's thoughts and emotions. Then there's Seth- He doesn't just love her... He is there to remind Clara that she is allowed to love herself. He truly is helping her heal.
Krystal Kae wrote people who made me FEEL things. I'd put the book down, and then an hour later I'm still mentally arguing with a side character like, "What is WRONG with you?!" The people on the page could get under your skin and conversations they had stayed with me, even when I wasn't reading anymore. (That ex-husband of Clara's? 🤬)
Also, this book is funny. Like actually funny where I was laughing audibly at one-liners. It's the inner dialogue that had me cracking up. It was so good!
This is one of those stories that feels grounded and real, even with the supernatural twist. I'll definitely be thinking about these characters for a while, and I cannot wait to read the second book.
I was instantly sucked into this book. I initially thought it would be a difficult read from the premise [Wolf w/ human mate but no pack]. But it was so far from the truth, the characters are so relatable. Clara does get a tad bit annoying in her indecisiveness with Seth [I want you, but I can’t be with you] but I understand it. And that helped me from disliking her / calling her childish immediately. I held onto hope she’d evolve because of her ex-husbands infidelity it made her insecure. I couldn’t think of a better book, the issue with Joe [Average Joe aka ex-husband] was juicy but faded to the background once you got to Seth’s problems. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a cinnamon roll MMC devoted to a single mother who’s DEVOTED to her kids.
If you like werewolfs, spice and romance then this is perfect book for you! I absolutely loved this! Characters were well written and different from what i would expected, in a very good way! Single mom of two, ex husband who was not my favorite and a good lookin man! And seth loved her even when she did not think she is worth it, she so is worth it! There are so many women who think they are not worth of anything and i think this book gives you hope that you are worth of everything good! That made me feel good! This book had spice(love it) but it was also a bit dark themed, with violence and that but that just made me love this even more. I have a thing for all that dark stuff
This PNR was a great read. It’s a fated mates/instalove romance focusing on an older single mum and the slightly wolfy new guy in town. It tackles some heavy issues including abu$ive families and serious body image issues. This is an important book to check your triggers first.
You’ll also encounter a deadbeat ex, custody issues, small town challenges (everyone knows everyone), an extremely relatable moment trying to change an internet banking password, iced coffees and parenting teens. It’s an open book romance that gets things going *ahem* from very early on.
If you enjoy your characters with a bit more life experience and your men a little growlier, add this great book to your TBR.
This is the third book I have read by Krystal Kae and this one might just be my favorite so far. I love how real her female characters are. Most women have the negative self talk constantly going in our heads and that helps you really relate to the lead female character. this character has baggage but it still so strong when it comes to loving those in her life.
This story sucks you in and doesn't let you go - even when you hit that last page. it feels like there is still so much story left to tell. and I cannot wait to read it!
Check the trigger warnings before you read this book. From the start, I was hooked. This book was amazing and the details were great. I laughed at some parts too. If you like single-mom romance books with a lone wolf MMC who will do anything for his woman then you will love this book.
Loved this book, I absolutely love how she balances between giving you enough details but not over doing it. The story just pulls you in and the way it ends doesn't leave you on a cliff hanger but leaves you with questions that I can't wait to see what the next book in the series brings!
Chasing Petals was an amazing read. Loved loved loved that the FMC was a curvy girl who doesn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. This was something all females can relate to! Lots of romance and action! 10/10 you must read it! Can’t wait for the next one📚📖
