Having been restored as leader of the clandestine government task force known as Guardian, after the events of the Drahux alien invasion, Kat Palmer once again finds herself under pressure from her superiors. The island kingdom of Balgrovia has been at war for a year and a half with one of its own, Baptiste Bishop, who seeks to overthrow the monarchy, having come into possession of high tech weaponry. Guardian is tasked with aiding King Aldwin to turn the tide against Bishop. In the midst of this war, Kat has to contend with bringing in a reluctant rookie, while also having to face her past with a fellow team member, known only as Mr. Smythe.
