A quick, satisfying conclusion to the 'Unmasked' series. This third and final book continued in the same fast-paced manner that I came to expect after reading the first two books in this series. I listened to the audiobook editions for all three, and the narration was great. Daimon's dirty mouth really made my commutes to and from work much more enjoyable!

Yep, he's back! Alex finally ditches the disappointing fill-in guy, Nick. (Yay!) After getting off to a rough start, Alex and Daimon set out on a mission for revenge. Now, they are both the hunters and the hunted.

This book provides closure and brings everything full-circle. No loose ends or rip-your-hair-out endings this time! Quick, entertaining and sexy!

Ms. Leo did a good job of covering so much content in so little time. Usually, I would expect a story to be much longer if so much content were going to be covered. Otherwise, I can count on the story to feel rushed or forced. However, I never felt that way with this series, even with the rapidly progressing storyline.

2.5-3 stars

Sorry, this one didn't do it for me. :(
I am really disappointed, because it started off so strong-like loved it!

Disappointed photo: Disappointed disappointed.gif

It had it's good moments, and glad to see some revenge was made, but this kind of plateaued for me.
This wasn't a total waste of time, but I am definitely saddened.
Giving it 3 stars because there was a decent story, it just didn't work for me, personally. :(

The drama, suspense and the hot and steamy sex scenes are here and of course Cassia added surprises. All the questions you have will be answered.

I'm a little sad to say good bye to Daimon, but happy how things ended.

I wouldn't mind another novella with Daimon and Alex. Retired and living a normal life.

I went into this book expecting the action and suspense of the first two installments and I didn’t quite get it. It didn’t ruin the read for me at all, but it just didn’t seem to be on par with the other two.

What I did enjoy was seeing this completely different side to Daimon. Wow. I sort of hoped in the previous books that he was going to have that side of him in there somewhere, like maybe hidden under lock and key and I wasn’t disappointed. Some of the best lines that I broke out the highlighter for, were from him. He blew me away at points.

This one seemed more Daimon focused and relationship focused to me than Alex focused. I didn’t get as much of her this time around, or just didn’t feel her as much I guess. She was still badass, that didn’t change, but it seemed like there was less of her POV.

The sex scenes were steamy as always. Cassia almost seems to be a master at pulling that off, but it wasn’t so overloaded into the book that it felt like that’s all it was. At times it fit so perfectly that it made the romance between them even stronger. It felt more real and less out of this world.

This is a must read for anyone that read the first two, but I do think you need to keep in mind that the characters grow and change and things may not appear as they did in the first two.

I'm in love with Daimon.. let's just put that out there right now!! He got softer in this book but was still the sexy hard ass hit man we all love at the same time ;)

“I… I just wanted someone to love… to love me.”

“I love you, Alex. I’ll always love you.” He kisses the corner of my mouth and more tears roll out of my eyes and onto his fingertips. “In the light and in the dark. With a mask or without. I love everything about you.” awww <3 #swoon

And Alex.. my woman crush.. Chimera and all!!! Still the baddest bitch and one I wouldn't cross EVER!

"She finally understands that I’m not the broken little girl who was so easy to control. I’m free. There’s nothing more dangerous to a sadistic warden than a freed prisoner with nothing to lose. And that fear in her eyes is enough punishment to satisfy my thirst for vengeance. That fear tells me I’ve won."

And the sex!! OMG

“I’ll lick your pussy up and down and all around, spreading your flesh to get to the most sensitive spot.” He moves his thumb a bit to the right, instantly finding the spot he speaks of, and my knees weaken. “I’ll savor you slowly. You can’t rush perfection.” please???? <3

as you can see, this book doesn't disappoint.. Thanks Cassia for gifting us with your imagination xoxo

This is the final book in this series, and I loved it as much, as the other two. I think I fell more in love with Daimon and Alex in this book, I think you got to see another side of their characters, yes they were still tough, smart, clever and you would not want to get in there way, but I also think a softer side came through. As like the other two books, this book was filled with lots of suspense, action and drama, and hot and I mean hot sex scenes. In this book all of the pieces of the puzzle come together and all your questions will be answered. I loved the ending of this book and I would highly suggest you read it to find out what happens. Great series, great story, great characters, and definatley a must read series.

Such and unsatisfying ending! Volume Three did not measure up to Volume Two at all. It was like I was reading a completely different book.
The other books always kept me on edge and I could never guess what will happen, but in this book: nothing.

I feel like a lot of questions were still not answered.

Also... Daimon became too soft for my taste.

BUT I STILL LOVE HIM! (He is the reason I'm giving this book 3 stars instead of one or two.) Some of the scenes were seriously hot!

An intriguing, suspenseful, sexy serial full of unexpected turns.

Do not read review if you’ve not yet read Unmasked 1. Otherwise, this review is spoiler free.

Volume 2 picks up soon after the shocking end of Volume 1, with Alex on the run. She’s still reeling from what she’d done, from the truth she’d discovered, for what she was able to feel for Daimon. Now, she’s determined to live a life unmasked, as she figures out her next move. When she arrives in a small seaside town, she takes on a new persona, one who does not hide in the dark or under thick makeup, rather one who is confident during the light of day. And one who cannot seem to forget the man that taught her to love. The man she killed.

“… everything changed the night I met Detective Daimon Rousseau. He didn’t just change me into a woman. He changed me into a woman with a purpose. And my purpose was to make him pay for what he did to my father. Out of the darkness and into the light, a new Alex was reborn as Alyssa.”

Alex’s resoluteness in forgetting Daimon is entirely futile. The more she tries to forget him, the more thoughts of him permeate every second of her day, even as her heart battles between hating him and loving him and missing him. She even seems to smell his scent in the air, his presence with her still somehow. But then she meets Nick, who decidedly is not Daimon, but who is handsome and alluring in his own right.

She is attracted to him, but she is still suspicious. Her past has ingrained her to be that way. I found that really interesting. She questioned everything and everyone, her mind hard-wired to to do so. She couldn’t just be. But was Nick who he said he was? Did he want to kill her? Was he working for Daimon? Was there a possibility Daimon was alive? So many questions haunted her.

“My purpose is to save her. To love her. And I will stop at nothing to do just that.”

And just when she feels her guard begin to slip, surprises await and trouble finds her. Truths are revealed, including her own and the she must make a choice. Because suddenly her past is invading her present once more, and as we move into the final installment, we see that Alex has to face that past head on. The time for retribution is upon her. But once again, she must figure out who she can trust.

“I love you, Alex. I’ll always love you… In the light and in the dark. With a mask or without. I love everything about you.”

What I have loved most about this series is that I never knew what to expect. Cassia is an expert storyteller and she weaves the story in directions I didn’t anticipate. I will say I found it difficult to get inside of Alex’s head… understand her motivations. It surprised me to see her fall for a man like Nick, particularly since thoughts of Daimon were ever present. But in the end, I loved how it wrapped up. It was that perfect, edgy, non-typical happy ever after that was right for the characters.

The Unmasked serial is comprised of three volumes (below) and is a great, quickly read series for readers who love mystery and intrigue, sexiness and love, action and suspense!

Without the Darkness, There Would be no Light~Damion

Swoon!! This series was so good I didn't want to see it end. I read the book in about an hour because I couldn't wait to see how Cassia Leo wrapped things up. If you haven't read the first two books in the series, stop now as this review may contain spoilers.

The book picks up right where we left off, Damion is alive and Alex finally knows it. He still wants her more than life itself, but convincing her is going to be another story. Alex can't get over the fact that Damion killed her father and at this point she doesn't care why. Damion now has to get her to listen to his side of the story, as well as getting rid of this Nick guy that is now in his way.

Alex is being pulled in two different directions and doesn't know who she should trust. Is Nick there to turn her in? Does Damion have an agenda other than loving her? Her heart tells her to go with Damion, but her head tells her to stop and think about things before making any moves.

I just love Damion. Yes he is an assassin for hire, but says the sweetest things to his girl.

“I love you, Alex. I’ll always love you.” He kisses the corner of my mouth and more tears roll out of my eyes and onto his fingertips. “In the light and in the dark. With a mask or without. I love everything about you.”

“I loved you before I knew you. I know this because my heart recognized you from the first moment I saw you six months ago.”

He is absolutely mad about her and will do anything to have and protect her and his unborn child. Alex is strong, unbelievably smart in a fight and she will need all of her skills to get out of this one. Learning what she can about Nick and Damion, she makes her choice and hopes for the best.

Things of course get messy and all you can do is hold your breath and hope for the best. The book is great and I am sad to see it end, however Cassia Leo sends us off with a nice epilogue. This is a perfect series if you are looking for a lot of sexy action in a little time.

They’ve turned darkness into light…

This is the final volume of a three part serial and should be read in series order.

The story continues from where we left off at volume two. Alex learns that the man she has very much missed, the man she thought she killed is still alive and he wants her as much as she wants him, but she has to come to the realization that she can trust him, he proves to her that she can. This reader was so happy to see Daimon in the story again. I did not like the bounty hunter who was fooling Alex but I did like what happened to him at her hands in this volume though it was touch and go there for a moment.

Daimon never gave up on Alex even after she tried to kill him, he knew she was the one for him and he’d go to any lengths to show her that they belong together. He’s a wonderful dark hero who has found love with a woman that is equal to him in many ways. They make quite a pair.

I found this installment to be fast paced, filled with action, suspense, sexiness and some sadness. Alex is now fully unmasked and she knows what she wants. Vengeance is hers for the taking but she tempers it and does not lose herself, Daimon supports her on this. The truth of the past is revealed and Alex has made peace with it, she’s taking the life she wants out of the darkness and loneliness with a man she truly loves who loves her. The epilogue was perfect for these two. This volume was quite an enjoyable read and a great ending volume. I really liked that we were given both points of view; it does give us better insight into each of them.

All in all I loved Unmasked. The only detriment was that it was done as a serial instead of published as one whole book. This reader doesn’t normally go for serials, preferring to wait until all the pieces are released. I took a chance on this one and was not disappointed, the wait between the volumes was not too long and they were all good.

Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, picking up where the last book left off, Alex and Daimon are ready to confront those that wanted to see Alex dead. The couple makes a plan to exact their revenge as well as finance their future. All of Alex’s past, as well as Daimon’s come to light and it only makes their bond stronger. While it would have been easy for the two to just ride off into the sunset, they make sure to help provide for those that showed them kindness, charities that they believe in, as well as set themselves up for the next stage of their lives as career assassins. While the ending may have felt a little hokey, I really did appreciate that Alex especially was able to get the HEA that she so deserved.

There isn’t a lot to say about this volume without spoiling it for everyone so I will just say that I absolutely loved this series. The mystery, intrigue, and sexiness all keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. While the story is wrapped up and we’re given the happily ever after, I can’t help but think that there could be more to Alex and Daimon’s story (hint, hint!). I’d love to know about their exploits as a team. I couldn’t help but love the characters and how well they were developed, strange quirks and all. Like I said, if you’re a fan of Tarantino (think Kill Bill in particular) this is for you. This whole series was a five star read!

It seems like forever since the last installment but it did not disappoint. Daimon both learn valuable lessons and found out what they were made off. Daimon displayed a softer side but was still the ruthless hitman we loved in the previous two books. We show that he longed for a family as much as Alex did. He also hoped for forgiveness for an unforgivable mistake. Alex finally realized who she could trust and let her guard down. All that's was left was to get revenge on those who hurt her and to thank those who showed her kindness. Parts of the book broke my heart but I knew that Daimon and Alex were stronger together than apart. Other parts I cheered as those who got punished did though they did prove they only killed when they needed too. Lots of action and most importantly we got closure with the truth. The chemistry between them was more profound than ever I guess getting rid of all the lies helped them tremendously.

Lo and behold the startling conclusion to this series!! And it's a doozy!!

Daimon "forces" Alex to listen to him. He breaks down the truth, even revealing how he set her up in the first place. But she is so caught up in her head... once again... to listen. I get it. She feels like he betrayed her. Lied to her. But she chose to believe in Nick, who she just met, and who seems just a tad bit shady, rather than the man she willingly opened her legs for (and happens to love!) So yeah. I was a bit annoyed at this part.

However, my annoyance did not last long. Because shortly after, she puts her training to use. And that scene was AWESOME!! Everything from there seemed to have a certain Mr. and Mrs. Smith-type flair and I absolutely loved it. Her vengeance wasn`t as sweet as I wanted it to be (uh huh I like me some killing), but it suited her. There is a sweet epilogue too so the story wraps up nicely with a tidy little bow.

I loved the end of Daimon and Alex's story (or is it just the beginning... ;) )

I loved it. This is a great suspense romantic story. And it is not your typical one where all the main characters are straight laced and all that.

Damon and Alex feel like real people. They make mistakes which could cost them their lives. In this last instalment of the series, they learn to trust each other and to work together, as a team. Yes, I cannot say that I agree with their chosen profession but on the other hand, what they are doing just feels right on some level.

A great addition to the story were also the extremely hot scenes between Damon and Alex. Between all the danger they find time for romance but also for animal attraction.

In a few words, this series has everything, and no matter what genre you prefer you will find something for you here :)

Definitely a recommended read :)

OMG! I absolutely LOVED this series.
I’m sad that this is the end but it was such a good ride.
Alex’s story picks up right where it left off in vol. 2
She’s an emotional pregnant mess! Her lover, Daimon, she thought was dead, is actually alive and right there with her.
Alex just wants to live a normal life, she’s tired of hiding. She’s happy that she didn’t kill Daimon, she loves him deeply but she still doesn’t know if she can trust him.
Things go from bad to worse and it is so emotional. Alex has always depended on herself. Can she forgive Daimon?
Eee….!
This is a book that must be read in order or you will be so lost. It’s definitely worth it. So worth it!
Unmasked series…ahh so good!

I absolutely loved this series. Book 3 was a great culmination to the series. Alex and Daimon are such a hot couple. You can feel the love they have for one another. It's palpable. After all the drama in the books it's great to see them get the HEA they deserve. Some may think that is crazy for me to say of Daimon, but through the books it's hard not to fall in love with his character. He has done some ruthless stuff in his life, but he's trying to atone for his sins. Alex grew up in such a messed up family. She deserves all the love and happiness that comes her way. Thank you Cassia Leo for writing such a phenomenal intriguing series.

I have been hooked on unmasked since book one!! And I couldn't have asked for a better ending then this one!! It answered all my questions and it gave me closure!! I love it when I reach the end of a series and I feel closure! I feel that Alex and Damien will be ok. Granted! Would I love to read more? Of course but I will be satisfied if I don't. Love love love this series! It's so complex I can't mention anything without giving it all away! Each page had me hooked! So if you have read the first two books then I know you will have to read how it ends! But if you haven't started this series then definitely put this on your TBR, but don't leave this one alone for too long!!

Fantastic, heart pounding conclusion to this story!! Cassia does it again with the series. It is fantastic. There is not a dull moment. The story keep me intrigued till the very end. Emotionally charged.

I loved it!! Could not put it down. OMG!!

Alex has to face her biggest nightmare head on.

The truth finally comes out about who is really wearing a mask and who is telling the truth.

Daimon and Alex are hot together!!

But is hot sex enough? Will real love conquer the past and the demons hiding in the dark?

Are these two able to come clean and still stay together?

I just finished this 3 book series. It wasn't what I expected, I thought it was going to be dark, only it's not really Alex, a confused, very sheltered nineteen year old. Leaves home only to find out she isn't who she thinks she is, nor are the people who raised her, her parents. She has many misadventures, mishaps, makes mistakes, is almost killed, but in the end is saved by Diamon, the man who was sent to take her life, they confront her real mother, who had put the hit out on her.
I can't say this was on of my favorite books, but it wasn't the worst the first 2 books in the series was much more entertaining than the third and final.

This is not your typical Cassia story. This is not a sweet romance. This is not a stand-alone. You must read all three books for an ending. There is plenty of violence, intrigue, unique characters and crude sex so if you do not like any of these things do not read. If you love reading stories that are just that, stories written to take your mind on an unbelievable, exciting, journey of a young woman thrown in to an unbelievable situation and trained as a super weapon without knowing why this is for you. Just remember that not all fairy tales are about the good prince and princess!
