Dinah Hyland comes from the perfect family. She has always looked forward to the day she has her own home. Her distress over her lost dream runs deep when she is medically unable to have children.

Connor Marshall’s family was less than stellar. He plans to remain a bachelor and teach in China only to lose his dream when he becomes guardian to his late sister’s four small children.

Both struggle with God as it seems He has taken what matters most to them.

When Connor’s new family attends Hobby Horse House, Dinah’s day care, tension between the two grows as she observes how inept he is in caring for the kids and he sees how good she is. While they work to find harmony—and more—they must save the children from a kidnapper and find peace with their disappointment in God.

Gayle Roper rejoices every day that she gets to be a writer because she's in love with story. Even on the days that words rebel and have to be coerced onto the paper, there is nothing else she'd rather do. When readers like her work, it's like God says, "See? I knew what you were wired to do." When her books win awards like the Carol Award (Caught Redhanded) or the RITA Award (Autumn Dreams), the Holt Medallion (The Decision, Caught in a Bind, Autumn Dreams) or the Reviewer's Choice (The Decision), it's icing on the cake. And she gets to teach others how to write at conferences too. She spends a lot of time smiling. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America and is the best-selling author of Hide & Seek and more than forty other books.

Medically unable to have children of her own, Diane Hyland is convinced that God made a mistake when He gave Conner Marshall the responsibility for his sister's four orphaned children, all under the age of five. Conner thinks that as well, but he's committed to the children now under his care. Conner's brother Reese is determined to gain guardianship of the four kids so he can benefit from the insurance money left to them. Add a stalker who is determined to kidnap the children and sell them to the highest bidder. The author deals honestly with grief, anger, and feelings of inadequacy. The characters are realistic and the plot leaves you sympathizing with the main characters and holding your breath to see if the stalker succeeds. And, in the end, Dinah and Conner have to decide if they're drawn together by love for each other or love for the kids.

Instant Family of Four

Bachelor Connor becomes the father of four when his sister and her husband are killed and the guardianship of their children is awarded to Connor.

Dinah Hyland has an illness that requires a hysterectomy. She'd always wanted kids and is mad at God for denying her her dream.

A child predator is kidnapping and killing little blonde girls like Connor's Emma, and another greedy man sees kidnapping and selling kids an easy way to make money.

Mix them all together and you have a wonderfully exciting thriller with lots of surprises. Five stars. Gayle Roper at her best.

How have I missed reading books by Gayle Roper? You will love this book about Dinah Hyland who must face the realization that she can never give birth to the large family she wants and blames God for making a mistake. Meanwhile Connor Marshall suddenly finds himself the guardian for his four preschool nieces and nephews when their parents are killed in an auto accident. Connor knows nothing about raising children except that he wants them to have a loving home. Add in Connor's evil jealous brother and young blonde children being stolen and you have an exciting story! I recommend Lost and Found to others!
