Erin O’Reilly never wanted to be famous. But after taking down two organized crime families, the decorated detective is front-page news. Being a celebrity is uncomfortable enough, but someone else is competing for headlines. A murderer is stalking the New York streets, hunting beautiful, innocent women.
Nothing boosts ratings like an obsession with a serial killer. Now, as Erin and her K-9 Rolf race against time to unmask a monster before the murderer claims another victim, they must deal not only with their opponent but with a pair of ambitious reporters investigating the first death. And when a second girl vanishes, a media frenzy engulfs a terrified and fascinated city.
With an innocent life on the line, Erin and her squad will need every bit of detecting skill, diplomacy, and media savvy to navigate the treacherous currents of the modern news cycle. The greatest danger for Erin, as a newfound media darling, may be ending up part of the story.
Steven Henry is the USA Today bestselling author of the Erin O’Reilly mysteries and the Clarion Chronicles.
Steven learned how to read almost before he learned how to walk. Ever since he began reading stories, he wanted to put his own on the page. He lives a very quiet and ordinary life in Minnesota with his wife and dog.
This is Book 28 of the Erin O'Reilly Mysteries series. This episode has Erin, Vic, Zofia, Lt. Webb, the F.B.I guys, and our ever-loving canine, or should I say K9, Rolf, trying to find out who murdered a young, innocent college student, and slashing up her beautiful face post-mortem. They also have to find the young sixteen-year-old girl who was snatched from a bowling alley. Can they find her before she suffers the same fate as the first victim? The F.B.I. have a profiler who has written up a certain profile; however, I knew this was the wrong profile. I knew from the first moment this character entered the storyline, that this person was the killer. Anyhooo, this is a really scary book, and it shows us we should never trust a stranger. You know, stranger-danger, like was said in "Kindergarten Cop". There are two murders in this book, and possibly a third if Erin cannot find the killer. Erin and Zofia almost get killed, but some high school remembrances by Zofia saves them. I gave this book the 5 stars it deserves. This book was written by my favorite author, Steven Henry. I know there are at least two more books in this series, so I hope none of my favorite characters are killed off. It depends on what happens, as to whether I will read the next series he is working on.
I can always count on Mr. Henry to bring another show stopper!! From page one till The End. I Really start it the moment I download the new copy! The twists and turns you never know who did it till bam! The least expected and your like, sure I knew that!! Thanks again Mr. H!!!
I just can’t get enough Erin O’Reilly stories! Erin is a believable character. Strictly on the side of right!! Vic cracks me up and Zofia is the perfect partner for him! One of these days I’ll get around to trying all the published beverages!
Fun read with lots of twists and turns. As always, Mr. Henry engages the reader and keeps them guessing. The Major Crime Squad lead by Lieutenant Webb is full of diverse, fascinating personalities, Rolf included. Well researched and you really get involved.
I love this series female characters never get to be in charge. It was great to see Erin and Zofia take the lead. Zofia looks like the next Erin. Guess Vic will just have to get used to her fame and fortune!!!
This book was another good instalment in the series. It had a lot going on and this really amped up Erin's fame. This is also the second book in the series where the main badddie is a woman but the first where that fact is what actually causes the most problems. I wasn't really trusting of Andy but I saw her more as a stalker (particularly Erin's) and not the main villain. Also I don't know if this is just a stereotype or pop culture, but FBI profiles seem really stupid. They basically get it wrong every step of the way and the whole 'sexual' nature of it was kind of dumb. Andy really carves up her face to punish herself more than anything else for being 'pretty'. Rockwell was annoying throughout this entire book. I really hope to not have to see him again. I also have a sudden dislike for the PC for some reason, and I don't really know why. I mean he is a politician so that could be it but he feels fake to me (in that he isn't a very genuine person).
