When Emma Hart followed her rock star boyfriend to London, she didn't expect him to ghost her before she even landed. Now she's stranded in a foreign country with her eleven-year-old daughter, no visa, and a key to a flat she has no legal right to inhabit.
Enter Roman grumpy Scottish guitarist, naked yoga enthusiast, and the man her ex transferred their apartment lease to without telling her. He's willing to let them stay... for two weeks.
As Emma struggles to heal and rebuild her and her daughter’s future, Roman's irritating habits—and irritatingly attractive body—keep getting under her skin. Between his clothing-optional morning yoga sessions, late-night guitar playing (again, clothing-optional), and unexpectedly genuine kindness toward her daughter, Emma finds herself fighting an attraction she definitely doesn't need. Especially not to another musician.
But when Roman's own music career hits a sour note, they discover that sometimes the best harmonies come from the most unexpected chords. With her life just getting back on track and her daughter finally finding her place, Emma must is opening her heart worth the risk of having it broken again?

I could write this in the 3rd person but... heck it: I write most (not all) of the things. I started with Star Trek: TNG fanfic when I was a kid (my first completed novel was a Mary Sue in which Wesley Crusher Got a Badass Girlfriend... who looked and spoke remarkably like myself; it had a planned sequel), then moved on to original sci-fi/fantasy concepts. I struggled with imposter syndrome and creativity-blocking depression for over ten years before I finally managed to start publishing my stories.

Finding the Right Note is my debut, and a contemporary rom-com. Which is not my usual. The second book I'm working on releasing is a small town contemporary romance. Eventually, I'll probably get around to getting my sci-fi/romantasy stuff finished, but in the meantime... Enjoy laughing your ass off at some realistic shenanigans.

When I'm not listening to imaginary people bicker and tear each others' clothes off in my head (don't worry, my therapist has a lot to work with), I'm hanging out with my kids and four furry chaos gremlins.

This story really hit all the right notes for me. A family in peril got stranded in a country new to them, and there was music all the way through. It would have been easy to have their problems all get solved by the some fabulous guy that walked into their lives, but it wasn’t that way. The complications felt real, and so did the growth of the relationships among the characters, and of the characters themselves. This is good stuff.

ARC REVIEW:

The book begins with Emma who has been let down and stranded along with her daughter, Ashley, in a country foreign to them and then to top it off they end up flat sharing with a stranger. Roman the Scottish musician sharing with them however is a sweetheart, I really enjoyed him taking Ashley under his wing. Although Roman and Emma clash at first there’s chemistry between the two straight away and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.

This was a lovely romance story but I did struggle at times with some of the Scottish dialogue and I had to reread some sentences to try and understand.

Finding the Right Note by Kella Roberts is a witty, tender, and emotionally resonant romance that hums with both humor and heart. Emma’s journey from heartbreak to healing is beautifully layered with vulnerability, resilience, and self discovery. Roman, the grumpy yet irresistibly charming Scottish guitarist, balances her warmth with his own brand of rugged sincerity, creating a chemistry that feels genuine and electric. Roberts’ deft blend of laugh out loud moments, slow burn attraction, and found family elements makes this story an addictive page turner. It’s a modern romance that celebrates love’s ability to heal, surprise, and transform even when life hits the wrong note first.

Love how eye catching the Cover is that also let's you kinda know oh single mom romance. The banter between Roman and Emma even the rules alone was amazing. I love how Roman is with Ashley. Though it was a slow burn it read well, though if you are the type who doesn't know how to read accents it might not be for you.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a wonderful romance between two people that end up together under unexpected developments with the same sublet. Emma is a single mom that ends up with an unexpected room mate, Roman. This is a beautiful story with Roman connecting with both mother and daughter. A found family! I Loved It!!! I Highly Recommend!! No Spoilers!

A delightfully well written and fun romance read. Emma and Roman are our main characters and I so enjoyed the steamy chemistry between them as well as the fluid growth between them. A well-balanced read with romance and humor. Looking forward to more from Roberts!
