This is a revenge extreme horror. Short and sweet (although not for that scum John). It’s not extemely graphic in comparison to some that I’ve read, but dare I admit I did actually laugh a few times reading it. Violet, I hope you get every single one of those f*ckers xoxo

Congratulations to Risshan Adele for their first solo outing! Welcome to the horror community! Now this was terribly ugly. The use of trauma and revenge, the high-level of body horror, and the incredibly creative, combined usage of food, deviant sex, and gore. And it was all wonderful. I’m not saying this was perfect but, for a first book, especially attempting to jump right into extreme horror, this was a great start. It needed a little more padding to further exemplify the experience and trauma of our lead, Violet, which would have also broken up the violence a bit. And I wanted to know more about these mysterious men that John was involved with, too. The ending was ok, but I felt like there were other options to keep the pace of the story without using certain fantastical elements. That’s not a shot at the author, but what they built up to that final point was good enough to not need anything else introduced. But, the story was just a gruesome walk through a bloody, damaged situation that will not easily be forgotten. Again, a great start for another new face to horror that will delight gorehounds and troubled minds like yours truly.

This was a very quick read, which is good because I don’t think my blood pressure could’ve handled it if it were any longer.

I will try to express my feelings without spoilers, but... no promises if I start screaming.

So we meet Violet, and within like 0.3 business seconds, we find out her husband is TRASH. Like, absolute garbage! One day, Violet wakes up and just knows something is wrong.

Violet gets a little sneaky with a hidden camera, and what she uncovers?? INFURIATING.

Her revenge? Oh, it's "DELICIOUS" (not). It's the kind of revenge that makes you yell "YASSS" out loud and then immediately cry into your sleeve because it's also lowkey devastating. Justice hurts sometimes, okay??

Risshan really said, "You wanna feel 73 emotions in 72 pages? Let's go." The writing had me feeling deeply sad for Violet. Like??? Who gave them the right??

Anyway, if you're into vengeance, raw emotion, and the glorious chaos of a woman pushed too far-read this. Violet, I love you, you terrifying, beautiful soul.

I adore the writing of this! It's powerful, raw, gross, and yet still an easy read. And the ending was so much fun! It gave me a bit The Ring vibes and I am so here for that.

In this short novella, we follow Violet, a woman whose life has misery written all over it and seemingly no way out.

Then Violet discovers something, a thing that turns her life from miserable to straight-up horrific, and she's dealing with it like only a woman who has nothing to lose can.

This is violent and raw, and I loved every bit of it.

This book made me see red.

Violet’s life was misery. It was ruled by a sexist, abusive pig of a man who stripped her down to nothing, and no one could live like that forever.
BUT there's a HUGE SECRET...and as we all know, secrets never stay buried.
And when the truth comes out? So, too, does the ALL THE RAGE...

When the secret is revealed, it hits like a hammer to the face LITERALLY! And from that point on? I knew i was going to be on the ride of my life.

The leash holding Violet down finally snaps, and when Violet sees him (truly sees him), what follows is unfiltered, blood/body parts RAGE!!!

What we see here is NOT some soft justice for a life full of hardship. Oh no, we are talking, REVENGE, of the most feral kind, so please check your trigger warnings ⚠️

I love a good Splatterpunk Revenge story like the rest of them. There is RAGE. There is PAIN (and lots of it), TRAUMA, and finally, RETRIBUTION, and it is all packed into this cute little package.

For those who aren't seasoned Splatterpunk fans, you'll find this story uncomfortable. It’s violent. It’s absolutely disgusting, but it’s just perfect for me.

Trigger warnings all around, but if you are the type that can stomach extreme horror, and youve always wanted to see a vile, pig of a man beg for the mercy he never gave, then this will be right up your alley.

Highly recommended for all extreme horror and splatterpunk lovers. Well done, Risshan Adele. I'm looking forward to more of your work in the future.

Vile confection

Violet has always been trapped. As a child abused by her father & now as a wife abused by her husband. After waking up covered in dry blood she questions is it also happening whilst she’s sleeping…setting up a nanny cam she sees the true horror that is behind her husband & decides enough is enough it’s finally time to fight back.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sad for a FMC before, the abuse she had already put up with before she snapped was just so horrible. This type of stuff goes on IRL which makes it all the more harrowing 😔

For a debut this was just brilliant, I read it all in one go & was so happy with the ending! It’s now available on KU so go give it a read!BUT check your triggers!! 4⭐️

WOW. Just wow!!
This is how you write feminine rage!!!

This incredible horror novella is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. Violet’s story sucks you right in and doesn’t let go even after you’ve flipped the last page of the book.
It’s got all the best things like horror, a devastating back story, revenge and gore and I ate. It. Up.

Read your TW first, but if you don’t have any like me, do yourself a favor and read it!

Oh and of course, a million 🌟s

I do love a good revenge story and Violet got this!

Violet lived a life of abuse. It started with her father and now her husband, and regardless of what she does he doesn’t give her the affection that she deserves and every morning she wakes up with cuts and bruises and no recollection what happened the night before.

Until one day she decides to find out and all hell breaks loose.

This is feminine rage at it’s best! Violet brings out the gore, the violence, the creativity and the strength of finally standing up for herself.

This short novella is fast paced and satisfying. The perfect recipe to grab your attention!

I have to thank Risshan for giving me the chance to read the arc and I cannot wait to grab a physical copy!

Honestly for my first ever Extreme Horror book this one was pretty tame in the sense that it completely made sense with how it ended. I feel as if the revenge part of the story completely brought the story together made it better than what I thought it would be.
Overall: Would I recommend this? Maybe it really depends on if you’re fine with the trigger warnings also how you feel about horror. Will I reread this? No but I do think I’ll try more extreme horror cause I honestly like the concept especially if it’s a quick short read that actually has some type of backstory/plot.

I feel as if I couldn’t put my thoughts into comprehension-able words. So if this seems very dull then just know I did enjoy the book and will a chance for many more.

3.5 rounded down

Violet lives a meaningless controlled life run by her husband who abuses her and degrades her on a regular basis. When Violet learns that her husband has an even darker secret, she turns on him and takes her power back in the most sickening way.

There was gore and rage and revenge all mixed together in a strawberry cake!

I was already on Violets side but then when she finds out what’s been going on behind her back, my jaw dropped in disbelief. I’m all for female rage and getting even and that’s exactly what this is.

The ending lost me a little bit, but this is definitely an intense read that I was happy to read. Its quick and gross and to the point. This is Adele’s debut novella and I hope to see more work from her in the future!

A twisted, unsettling read that blends psychological horror with grotesque imagery in a way that lingers long after the final page. The author doesn’t shy away from disturbing themes, and the result is a story that feels both original and deeply unsettling.

The pacing is sharp, pulling you in quickly, and while some parts feel deliberately uncomfortable, that’s what makes the book so effective. The characters are flawed and unnerving, making it hard to know who (if anyone) to trust. Every chapter has a way of keeping you slightly off balance, which works perfectly for the dark tone of the story.

Violet has dealt with abuse since she was a child, and that abuse continues into her married life. She is a broken woman, desperately trying to hold her life together until the point she is pushed too far. Then the 'fun' really starts.
This Extreme Horror Novella punched me in the face from the opening chapter, and by the end of the book, I was left with 2 black eyes, a broken nose, and a busted lip. It deals with abuse the only way an Extreme story can, gut wrenching and over the top.
Fast paced and well written.

Holy guacamole, Vile Confection by Risshan Adele was wild in the best way. Violet grows up in an abusive home, thinking marriage will save her, but ends up in another nightmare. Her husband secretly drugs her, and what he’s been doing at night is beyond vile. One day, she snaps and plans her revenge. There’s a paranormal twist at the end I didn’t expect, but it still worked! And seeing Lesley A. Camphouse thanked in the acknowledgments? Instant respect. Definitely adding Risshan to my EH/SP author list.

Huge thanks to Risshan Adele for sending me a copy of Vile Confection—what a ride! This little novella packs a sledgehammer punch straight to the face. Violet’s life is pure misery under the thumb of a vile, abusive man, and you can feel the pressure building page by page. Then the big secret drops, and it’s like a dam bursting—what follows is pure, unfiltered rage.
This isn’t some soft, tidy justice story. This is splatterpunk at its nastiest: blood, body parts, and the kind of revenge that makes you want to stand up and cheer while also wincing at the carnage. Adele’s writing is efficient and brutal, wasting no time before ripping your guts out emotionally (and maybe literally).

Vile Confection is 50-page extreme horror revenge story with a different kind of twist. Without spoiling anything, this story starts off as one thing and ends up being something on the opposite end.

I’ve read several revenge novellas recently, and the events in this story that trigger Violet’s rage are atrocious, but I’m happy that we don’t get full details of the acts committed against Violet. However, the torture Violet unleashes on her tormentors is absolutely glorious. A lot of times, I feel like the villains get off way too easy, but Violet goes all out, and I’m here for it.

I do, however, think the ending made too sharp of a pivot. I would have liked to have seen some plot points that could have provided subtle hints as to what’s to come. I feel like this ending was set up in a way where there could be a sequel. Honestly, I would love to see more of Violet’s story continue.

Overall, I love this story, and I have to thank Risshan Adele for allowing me to review an early copy. Get this on your TBR as soon as you can.

Violet is being abused by her husband but doesn’t really know how far that level of abuse goes until she decides to install a nanny cam!

The story unfolds from here with great scenes of feminine rage and revenge!

This book was really well written, short & snappy.

Absolutely Phenomenal, this story evoked so many emotions in me throughout, the use of descriptive detail is vivid and easy to imagine which makes her life story all the more horrible. Plus, the author is an amazing human being 💕
