Jessica Watkins Presents Beautiful Prey 2 by Phoenix Daniels
Follow newly married Victoria Storm as she prays for the life of her husband, Jack.
In the meantime, her good friend Natasha Walker takes over her duties as an undercover officer posing as a prostitute, while she deals with past issues and a new love interest.
Meet Gianni Storm, successful club owner and cousin to Jack Storm. He's determined to conquer Natasha, but her dangerous job threatens to take her away.
This story is a follow up of Beautiful Prey but it is more of a spin off. You get an update on the original couple (Victoria and Jack) and other characters from Beautiful Prey while getting a closer look at the developing romance of Natasha and Gianni. While book 2 focuses on a different couple in order to understand all of the nuances and the characters you really need to read book 1 first.
Natasha is a police officer that worked with Victoria in book 1. She was moved into the department following a sexual harassment lawsuit and does not have many friends. She keeps to herself and although she is quiet she doesn't miss anything. While there are not many people that she lets into her life she is fiercely loyal to her inner circle and will protect them even to the risk of her own life.
Gianni is Jack Storm's (book 1) cousin. Extremely wealthy with a confidence bordering on arrogance Gianni is the playboy that gets every woman's attention with his swag. Unfortunately, someone forgot to give Natasha the memo because for the first time a woman didn't automatically fall at Gianni's feet. In fact, if he wants her he is going to have to catch her. Now the question becomes is he fast enough when he is obviously never had to run a day in his life.
Normally I am not a fan of books written from the viewpoint of more than one character and the more viewpoints the less that my interest is held. It usually becomes too confusing. In this story even though we get the view from the majority of the main players/characters I did not find that to be the case. The story is written in a way that this style is done smoothly and actually enhances the story itself. It is by no means disruptive but actually allows a better insight into why the characters are doing what they are doing and taking the actions that they take or don't take.
Although this style is used it still allows for some mystery/suspense. You get enough of their thoughts and feelings to bond with the characters but not so much that you still can't wonder and ask some questions. This leaves you thoroughly invested and engaged in the story without feeling that there is no reason that you need to read the rest/remainder of the story because you already know what is going to happen.
I could easily connect with some of the characters. In fact, there were times when I wanted to tell Natasha to go ahead and handle her business... I had the $250 for her bail money. LOL
The story was written in a way to give you more and more data a little bit at a time. The questions you have are answered but you have to keep going to get there. You also get more and more understanding on who the characters are as people. I enjoyed this because it was like reality. When you meet someone you don't know their entire life story when they say hello. However, the longer that you get to know them and the more you invest in them the more they reveal and the better you know WHO they are which explains WHAT they do.
A great story line, enough twists and turns to compete with the best roller coaster rides out there and characters that could easily be your best girlfriends in real life... this one is a definite recommend to read!
We get to find out more about Victoria and Jack and their family which was great - won't give anything away.
The new couple is Natasha and Gianni Storm which is Jack's cousin. I am loving this couple. Natasha is a bad-ass!! She is not afraid of man or woman. She will beat you down if you mess with her!!
I loved it when she gave Coco her just deserts when she crossed the line. Caroline got what was coming to her in the Jack and Veronica story-line. Caroline was in book too.
Victoria and Natasha are two kick-ass women and I love that they are fearless and stand shoulder to shoulder with their men.
The story was enjoyable and it made me laugh out loud in places and I enjoyed the dialogue between Natasha and Gianni in particular. Great read! For those of you who love full length novels well this one is over 600 pages long!
This is the 2nd book in the Storm series featuring Gianni and Natasha. Their story begins with Gianni, a Parisian playboy who owns a string of night clubs in Europe, comes to Chicago to see his cousin Jack. He was shot while trying to rescue his wife, Victoria form a kidnapper. The kidnapper was shot by Natasha, an undercover officer who works with Victoria. The two meet at the hospital when Natasha goes to see how Jack is doing and her eyes clash with his sexy cousin. Gianni sees the shy undercover officer and he knows she is just what he wants and he goes after her but, Natasha does not just fall into his bed, the way Gianni wants. She has a few issues with the opposite sex, due to her upbringing by her drug addicted, religious fanatic aunt and a very painful secret that she believes would keep any man from wanting her long term, but Gianni has his own plans for this sexy officer. Natasha, now posing as a prostitute to get information to take down prostitution and human trafficking is caught in a very dangerous situation, now she is the one in need of rescue This book was Fantastic; it had everything, sexy alpha male, kick ass female, great love story, action, laughs, hot sex. Drama, mystery & suspense. I usually don’t care for books like this because they have tendency to be all over the place, but not so here. Even thought it was 600 pages, it didn’t seem long. The story flowed so well I could not put this book down, I would not exactly call this a sequel; it was more of a follow to Jack and Victoria’s story with new drama and romance. You got to see quite a bit of them in this book, but it in no way took away from the Gianni & Natasha’s story which stole the show as it should have. The balance the author was able to achieve in this book with was amazing. I can’t wait to read more from her. Great read!
That's how Tasha felt about life. Being raised by a neglecting drug-addicted aunt, she felt that she needed to be of help to others, hence her job as an undercover drug task force detective until she was forced out. She was not happy with the new assignment of the vice investigation. We see Natasha going from a shy, quiet, and reclusive woman to a self-confident woman in love with the love of her life Gianni. When they are around each other, they just could not fight the magnetism they felt for each other. He gives her the reason to take a chance on life despite what happened to her in her youth that made her believe she was worthy of love.
Gianni was a beautiful playboy who professed to stay single until he saw Tasha for the first time. She was thoroughly embedded under his skin and was determined to make her his in every way possible, including tricking her into marriage in Vegas and refusing to divorce her, and accepting her just she is, warts and all.
This book was full of drama, suspense, and mystery. I was surprised at the end to find out about Deon. Some people just don't take rejection well at all including Caroline. It was well written with the surprising revelations being revealed at just the right time.
I really liked this book, but I did not absolutely love it! First, I felt like the focus was more on Jack and Victoria instead of Gianni and Natasha. I think Jack and Victoria had more sex scenes than Gianni and Natasha. Sorry, but Jack and Victoria had their turn in book one, so the focus should have been on the other two. Second, I did not like the fact that Natasha proposed to Gianni.....drunk or not, I really wanted to see Gianni man up and ask Natasha. I mean this "beautiful" dude should have humbled himself and proposed to Natasha, not vice versa. Third, this thing with Caroline was so over the top and unnecessary. When Victoria cussed her out in the hospital we should have seen the last of Caroline. Lastly, this plot that included Caroline, Deon and the killing of Steve was not needed. I understood, what the author was trying to do, but it didn't flow. Again, the book was supposed to be about Gianni and Natasha, so therefore they should have been allowed to have their very OWN crisis, WITHOUT Jack, Victoria and Jasmine being kidnapped. Aside from those things, the book was cool. Anyway, I am about to get started on book three....Luca's story! Comment Comment | Permalink
The second book in the Storm series is all that I expected and more. I love Natasha and Gianni's story and all the twist and turn that makes this a great read. Of course Jack and Victoria is as sexy as ever.
Natasha was a bad ass that took care of herself. This had me on the edge of my seat. It drew on every emotion possible. I cheered for the love between Jack, Victoria and little Jasmine. Natasha and Gianni found a love that they didn't think was possible.
I wanted to help Natasha kick Caroline's butt but she didn't need my help. I cried for Steve and I wanted to take Deon and Caroline out all over again
Love, sex intrigue throughout this book not only a good read but it was great. I don't know whose story is next but I'm ready for it.
Wow, another great read, lots of drama, suspense, crime and,,, let's not forget the sex! Good Lord Almighty... Where do I sign up for one of these ultra hot hottie. The story line was really strong seemed who researched. I am not a law enforcement official but the entire criminal events seemed plausable and the read was fast paced which made it hard to put down. I love interracial romances and relationships because for the most part they reflect people that enjoy life and other people. I also like the way gay and lesbian relationships are easily dispersed. Definitelya must read, can't wait you stay the next book.
Omg 😮 What a ride! Omg a story that was so riveting, so explosive, so full of twists and so much love and passion. I was so happy that Jack and Victoria were a big part of this one even though the main couple was Gianni and Natasha. It took me a while to warm to him like I did with Jack. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but there were some twists I saw coming and some I didn’t. I was totally engrossed in the story. Loved Gianni’s family, his mom and dad and his hot cousins. I think this series can go on for infinity. I hate to see it end. A great job by this author. Thank you.
Excellent story. I loved it so much. Gianni & Natasha are married and expecting their first child! Jackson & Victoria now have baby Jasmine and are still happily married. The sad part was Steve being killed by another undercover cop. Tracy may be broken hearted now, but look out for Luca to make his move on her. Sisters rock on with the Storm men.
I would have never thought that Deon was that crazy. It never donned on me that he was the cause of Victoria kidnapping and Natasha being traded in sex trafficking. Wow! Will Tracy have a happy ending, I feel so bad about Steve?
OMG THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!!! My heart is still beating super fast. I can't even explain into words. Ms. Daniels you did a brilliant job!! This book was everything!! I will be reading this series again very soon!!
And this time I am leaving a review instead of just a rating....which I added another star from the first time. Natasha and Gianni, these two were such a delight to, from Gianni's don't take "NO" for an answer to Natasha inability to SAY "no" they were perfect. I must say these Storm men do not play about their women. First Jack coming to Victoria's rescue with Natasha's help at that then Gianni taking up the rescue mission as GI Gianni for Natasha. And what is up with this Chicago PD? They certainly didn't care for the safety of their officers and have crooked cops on the force. Sad that Deon was one of them. Can't believe he went out like that. The crazy Caroline sneaking in the cottage to get with Vic, stealing baby Jasmine man she definitely got what she deserved. I am so glad Tammy became an ally that can be trusted. I so enjoyed reading book two AGAIN and this series is being highly recommended.
Part II of the Beautiful Prey series follows more closely the lives and love stories of Natasha and Gianni and we also get to check in with Victoria and Jack and their growing family. There's a lot more action in this book and it's fun to read. I am hooked! Much better than Part I because the unexplainable ciffhanger in the first book makes more sense now that you get into the second book. Natasha is another badass undercover cop and develops a close friendship with Victoria after the ordeal that happened in the first book. Victoria has left the force now, but Natasha is still there and ends up befriending Tammy, a stripper she meets while undercover. We'll learn more about Tammy in book 3! Gianni is Jack's first cousin who looks a lot like Jack. He apparently has a thing for badass black women too and Natasha fits the bill. Get ready for lots more steamy love scenes as well. Fun read.
The chase was fun to read between Natasha and Gianni. I am definitely glad Jack and Victoria was woven throughout the book, and to hear about the baby was nice. The suspense of police activity was exciting, bringing some adventure. The only thing I didn't like was Caroline should have been arrested for what she did to Victoria, if she was a man, she would be.... It was rape, NOT molestation, she put her mouth on her, possibly penetrating her with her tongue... Rape! Let's not minimize that! Other than that.... The beat down was hilarious!! Especially, the club beatdown... Hi-five Natasha!
I was expecting that strong heroine that can take care of herself and it starts with a beating and thank God, 'attempted' rape of the heroine. I know and respect that women if all races have had to do whatever is necessary to survive. I felt like much of the police work in vice was women being forced into demeaning work with no respect or appreciation from the men in charge. NOT ENTERTAINING to read. I am done with this series and hesitant about reading anything else by this author. Good writing, but not to my taste. Too much like the real world. As a woman I read to escape the real world
It’s said that “Birds of a feather flock together “. What does that say about Victoria and her friends? Does it mean that their judgement is off? Or, does it mean that certain people just have ulterior motives. How can you tell the difference when you’re being genuine? We can not leave out the narcissists who see and hear only one way, theirs, namely Deon and Caroline. This is just a small part of the author’s incredible
This book has a whole lot of everything! Humor, suspense intense drama, two-curling sex! Love the extended family & the team Victoria regards as family from her years as an undercover cop. The trials & betrayal that Victoria & Jack endure are a shocking surprise! Glad to see Gianni & Natasha's new found love can also endure!!! LUV LUV THIS BOOK!!💘
This was really good! A lot of action and romance! I love the romance between Gianni and Natasha! They are truly meant for each other! And I love the way that the author includes all the other characters in the previous book and I am sure that it will continue in the next book. The family dynamic is wonderful! I am enjoying this series!
Book was written in 2014 so I’ll forgive some things. But i never understand why in these IR books the babies never seem to be written as if their biracial but read as if they are white with many of the white partners features with only curly hair as any indication that the mother is black. And either Natasha has hazel eyes or not they cant be hazel-ish. A decent book and a product of its time.
Natasha & Gianni's story is an exciting mix of high octane , edge of your seat action, unexpected twists n' turns😲😪 &🔥🌶💞romance. It was great to also catch up with Jack , Victoria & baby Jasmine. The ✍ has mad world building skills & the epilogue was the chef's 💋 Happy Reading🍷
I can't say enough about this book. I couldn't put it down until I finished. I love a book that has a good storyline, hot characters and plenty of action. Can't wait to read part 3. Ms. Daniels , you have a new fan. Keep writing!
3 stars because I read it from beginning to end in one day. Enjoyed Gianni and Natasha. I like the way the females are strong working women and.love the hot raunchy sex.
Laugh, shocked, love, tears of joy and sadness I experienced read Beautiful Prey. I love reading about Natsha, Gianni, Victoria and Jack. I love reading how they balance each other out, the way the love each other fiercely and their growing families!
Good read I love Victoria and Jack and liked being able to read about them. However I'm happy Natasha and Gianni found each other. I wouldn't mind reading about Mia and Amy too.
Such a fun, sexy, hot read! Natasha and Victoria are funny and sexy and confident. I love this book!!! There men are delicious and the twist caught me off guard. What a crazy ending!
Not happy Steve killed off. Not sure why good cop and friend should turn tg e way Deon did. Caroline and Coco both crazy. Why can't some woman know when to give up.
