All I could think of was prison. They would get the money too. I planned for everything, everything but a homeless kid. Welcome to the worst day of my life. Since 2008 I had seen dozens of colleagues discarded in the financial crisis as mega corp struggled to remain profitable. I would be next and I needed a Plan B. But my Plan B was on the other side of the law. I left life as a hard-working corporate project manager for a 3 year solo project. Then onto permanent vacation and the good life in the islands. After a rough start I was finally feeling confident. Only 17 months left. A homeless kid, corrupt cops, and rotten luck converge in Jackson, Mississippi.
I read all 6 books in the Forced Entry series. Like the Trunk series, Mr. Marshall started with a great concept and then it got progressively worse. That’s why my ratings go from High to Low, as you get further in the series. The first thing that’s disappointing, is that each “book”, is like a long chapter in a normal novel, and it only addresses a portion of the longer story. So you get shorted on your investment. What’s really bad is that Mr. Marshall changes the main character from the 5th to the 6th book, and brings in a whole host of new faces. There’s not even any integration, or hand off, if you will as to how these stories relate. Like I said, it’s disappointing. The characters themselves are rich. The scene settings are somewhat lacking. The stories, as told are entertaining. Just know what you’re getting into before you start reading. I regretted buying the box set. I thought the series would be good; based solely on the first book.
This 1+ hour read is the type of story I expect from this quirky author. No matter the length, I would have read in one sitting. It is that engaging. The characters tugged at so many different emotions. The beginning had me confused but soon all fell into place. The ending, which did not have a cliffhanger, had me feeling like I was left up in the air. I just felt it could not end there and there had to be more. Well, much to my glee there is more! Five more actually. Which means no sleep again tonight. Bottom line, I love this story as I have loved all of Steve's books I've read thus far. I am binge reading his books after deciding he is my new favorite sci fi author. This is a quick read, I recommend giving it a try. You too may find a new author to follow.
Raw, edgy, a solid slap upside the head. Was not expecting anything like this when I started reading. Throw grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation out the window because this story don't need it. For a short story, the author pulls a lot of emotion out of his readers. Some will absolutely hate it, and others will see the insight, feel the raw emotion, and root for a reluctant and undeserving hero. Kudos Steve!
As the heading states, bigotry is bigotry. Bigotry due to religious difference, racial difference, or, yes, geographic difference are all still bigotry. And Steven M. has an entire bag full of bigotry in his writing. Sad thing, really, as he actually does show the potential to develop a voice with a few years' practice in the art - but as long as he allows his geographic prejudices to override his fledgling talents...well...
I have to say it's different from what we usually read, a cure for boring books.😊
Love this book , unfortunately the world is full of people that have no souls just like fat cop and his brother cop ,believe me I met them in a mail on Timers Island , and again upstate . It is simple enough money and you have people lining up. Envy sloth greed lust it's all there. Sadly. But 420 with a twist I fuckin love it .
Forced entry was the opening of the window. The story was about a grow house and video conversation between him and the homeless girl that broke into one of his houses. it was a modern operation featuring hydroponics security. Even the two cops were caught on video the ones that stole the crop and killed the girl they escaped the law, but retribution found them.
This book deals with some very intense topics and situations. The conversations are extremely well written and you will not regret reading this (unless you are easily offended and judge mental.
I usually do not read this type of book, but the author said it was different and I was curious. He told the truth and I enjoyed it. Keep it up Steve M!
Very Creative! An Excellent Read!! - Forced Entry by Komrade Komura is an action-packed read with a lot of the the argot of the modern street and drug world of cops and robbers. The language is high energy and authentic in this rapid fire story told as a narrative and a dialogue - which causes character bonding with the storyteller himself. The story involves a pot farmer who witnesses police committing a brutal murder. Justice does not come easy. Highly recommended.
I knew this book had something to do with marijuana but had no clue on the story line. A very different approach the author took with the setting and logistics of the story. He could have wrote it many ways. As is the main character is a marijuana entrepreneur with high scale pot growing houses with major electronics and security. However a young 17 year old run away finds her way into the house and that is when the story develops different than I imagined.
Whoa! This is an extremely fast paced story. The protagonists are fascinating and their stories area as well. If you ever wanted to know how to carry on an illicit business, this book has you covered! The ending will take you by surprise as well. This is a must read! And it is well worth the 45 minutes or so it takes.
I liked the story at first, then everything happened way too fast. It's like the reader spends all this time learning about Taylor and then bam I just felt like maybe too much time was invested in telling the reader about Taylor and maybe could've been used in other parts of this short story.
Dumbest book I've ever read. I didn't know it was about a drug pusher and never would have got it. Crude language was tiresome and the narative between the dp and the girl who boke in one of his grow house was stupid. A waste of my time.
Best book I've read all year. Will definitely be buying the rest of his books. Some great quotes in this story and surprising twists to the plot. Loved it
